This is a racist establishment. I went there with my best friend and daughter (3 black ladies) and they refused to sit us and had us waiting as if there was a long wait, but we were the only ones who walked in and everybody else were already seated. Of course, as an adult, I immediately picked up on it after waiting 10 minutes and them continually lying to us stating they were waiting for a table and looking annoyed that we didn't walk out sooner. We ordered our first pizza here, during our visit and happily ate the entire supreme! I don't remember NY style being so thoroughly cooked, however. Great pizza, yummy meatball sandwiches, excellent ravioli (nice sauce). They do a really good job. We go here for lunch sometimes, but also the occasional weekend dinner. Also have had large birthday parties here (table of 14 was the largest) and they accommodated our big group nicely. The regular crust pizza is very good and in my opinion, the thick crust Sicilian is even better, but just too much bread for some. I'll take it! read more

I come here all the time, and it never disappoints. I often see Sal in the kitchen busting his ass making some of the best pizza and Italian food around. The staff out front always remember me and make me feel welcome every time I walk in. Honestly, I'd pay $1,000 a year just for the right to sit at his bar and eat. I'm from Long Island, so I know good Italian food. Most of the time I don't even order pizza because the Italian dishes remind me so much of home cooking--I'd rather dig into the meatballs, lasagna, and a Caesar salad. I recently met a friend here for lunch. The parking lot was packed but we were still able to be seated right away. I looked over the menu and decided on a veggie calzone. The portion sizes are quite generous. The calzone was stuffed with olives, mushrooms, green peppers, onions, and a mix of ricotta and mozzarella cheese. The red sauce they served with it was delicious. I ate half of it at the restaurant and took the other half home for lunch the next day. The quality of the food is excellent. It's a bit of a drive from our house. But when we want pizza, there is nowhere else in the area that comes close. No contest. I'm a NJ-born pizza purist, and Sal's is the only pizza that makes me homesick. My AZ-born kid loves the pizza with baked ziti, but my husband and I get the cheese or pepperoni depending on how dangerously we want to live. If you like that Chicago deep dish, I can't help you. But if you like a real East Coast pie, you will not regret checking out Sal's. They have the floppy crust that is not greasy, and the cheese is flavorful and just greasy enough. This place had been on my boyfriend's list for a while so since we were in the area, we decided to stop by. Their lunch deals are pretty great! We got all this for 20 bucks between two and still took some home. Everything was honestly so delicious, that we drove back the next day (40 mins) to get more. Not featured on here that we ordered as well the next day was the caesar pizza. All the staff was sweet and patient as we took forever to decide what we wanted. It's a local gem for a reason. The vibes and atmosphere inside are great, and you're going to find most people love the pizza--including myself. They have some interesting variations. But when it comes to pizza, let's be clear--not everybody is going to love it. My friend's kid won't eat anything but Sal's, but my kid? Not a big fan. Doesn't mean it's bad. People have different tastes. But you're going to find the majority of folks find this pizza absolutely delicious. And it's one of those places where I would rather eat there, because I think the pizza tastes amazing fresh out. But it's still good for delivery if needed. Wonderful amazing pizza place! Allergy Friendly pizza place!!! I have so many wonderful things to say it may not fit! I called in advance due to my severe/rare allergy and they COULD accommodate me! This is rare and wonderful. And they were so so KIND! Being from New York I know pizza and theirs is the best! You put all this together they should have a Sal's on every corner. There were 23 of us and not one issue with our dinner, we all had the best night. We highly recommend Sal's for any size party. Truly the best! And such kind people who took great care of us. My favorite pizza I've had in Arizona so far! Big and thin sliced pizza. Pizza sauce is perfect. The bruschetta is my all time favorite bruschetta!! I haven't found a bruschetta that can compete with theirs! Their glaze is chefs kiss! Sal's is ALWAYS so busy! Tonight we were told 30 minute wait, we were seated much quicker than 30 minutes. As usual the food was sooo good. Our waitress sadly do not remember her name. But OMG she was delightful!! The red sangria is so yummy! The eggplant parmigiana was wonderful. Sal's never misses!!! The restaurant is well lit. Tables have enough space between the them. This was just fine. I know it's well-loved by my fellow New Yorkers out here, but my husband and I didn't think the pizza was anything special. We got a pie, half Chicken Marsala and half Supreme. Just wasn't blown away by either one. They were certainly different and super cheesy. They did hit the spot, but I don't see myself raving to anyone about the pizza here. We also got the calamari appetizer and it was the smallest calamari appetizer I've ever seen, not even ten pieces. The Greek salad was standard, but you can't really mess that up. The winner of the night was the dessert; we got the cheesecake and the cannoli, and both were as authentic as it could get. I actually got nostalgic after the first bite in. We rate it a 3.2/10. We would have been better off ordering at Dominos. Maybe we need to try to order something else but after this tragic, we don't know if we will be back anytime soon. read more

It was my Mom's Birthday so we ordered from Sal's Gilbert Pizza. We had heard rave reviews from so many people in Gilbert that we thought we'd try it out. We didn't even want to step outside in this heat so we ordered it online. We started with the Antipasto Salad, which didn't taste very fresh. It was fine, I wouldn't order it again. I also ordered Hot Wings, which were rather soggy and the sauce tasted jarred. We ordered two pizzas-- we ordered the Grandpa Pizza which is a square crust pizza with only sauce, cheese and basil. It was dry and burnt on the bottom, not very good. I also ordered a Cheese Pizza with Bacon which was better but still nothing special. I don't know if we caught them on an off day, but this was nowhere near "the best pizza in Arizona". We ended with a Cheesecake for my Mom, and she said it was just okay. I had a bite and it was subpar. Don't think I'll be back anytime soon. If Yelp had a half star I'd give 2.5 Stars. read more

We came for the Baked Ziti pizza and it did NOT disappoint! Every bit as indulgent as we hoped. Super cheesy and packed with flavor but somehow the crust still stole the show. I guess that's a sign of a great pizza, right? We also ordered the Spaghetti and Meatball pizza. Also super delish and the sauuucceee. I finally got the attention of the older bartender and he took my order. I went there to get a slice of cheese, as I'm in a " pizza group" and I was going to give a review. Really nice interior, fast moving staff, and impressed with service for how busy it was at 5pm on a Saturday. Slices however, were overcooked & not great. Our server, Isadira was awesome. If you are lucky enough to be seated in her section, she will take care of you with a smile and professionalism.
