Solid pizza and sandwich spot in for the end of a long day at the beach in Wildwood Crest. My family stayed nearby for a week-long vacation and hit up Sal's twice. We were thankful for the quick service for takeout and good food, especially without too many other restaurants within walking distance of our Air BnB. The main Wildwood town center is 1-2 miles away. They seem to do mostly takeout; there are a few tables inside but not a ton of seating. The pizzas here were big. Not super fancy or extensive on toppings but they tasted good. I particularly enjoyed the Margherita pizza; light on the cheese with some basil and a thin crust. The sandwiches were also very filling and otherwise pretty standard. The cheese steak hoagie had a ton of meat. We'll definitely be back to Sal's next time we vacation here. read more

Ordered the chicken parm sandwich. Arrived and it took 4 people to figure out how much to charge me (not a great start). When I returned home, the sandwich was exactly as I would have expected - like the first time they have ever made it. Sal's Pizza was delicious. After a long day at the beach we were hungry late night and wanted pizza. I called them up because I knew they were closing soon and they couldn't have been nicer. Very sad to write this review. We have been here another time and the owner is a great guy. Very nice and personable. The pizza is good. However tonight there were all different people working. They sat us at a table and we waited for 15 MINUTES and was completely ignored. The server/ family member went to the tables next to Ours and chit chatted while Offering them Water and COMPLETELY IGNORED us. I wonder if it was our brown skin or just bad service. Overall 3.4/5 Definitely not a bad slice it was good the cheese was a little just and the crust was thicker then I'd like. Other then that it was good and pretty cheep for a Jersey shore pizza. Not sure why people leave bad reviews other than experience with long delivery time or for large orders! I absolutely loved Sal's and will go again next time we visit the area! I ate two days in a row there after having an awesome breakfast at their other restaurant in the El Coronado Resort that same day where we stayed (which was great and affordable). I had an Italian hoagie at Sal's both times. The seasoned taste left a lingering desire for more!! I was looking at the pizza options and plan on their pizza next time as I read good things about it and know it will be a fantastic Mom and Pop taste! Can't wait! However, the service is awful so bad that it would warrant such a low scoring I went this past weekend to Wildwood for a Convention and decided to use Sal's pizza to cater two nights worth of food for 30 people The woman in charge who takes Caterings give me a price, but when I went to pick it up, that post was different she did however, honored my quoted price however, we noticed the food was substantially less than it should The portions for half trays were literally half of what it should be Be prepared to get shorted if you get catering from them Also because we didn't get enough food we had to make another last minute order to feed the people in our group. We ordered two more trays of food which came to over $160. These are half trays not full trays we got nothing special chicken, Parm and sausage and peppers $160 All I can say is when ordering catering from these people open the trays while you're at the restaurant and inspect the food and make sure you're getting enough food read more

Wow! I cannot begin to explain how incredible the food at Sal's was the flavor is rich tasty, never a dull bite. The staff are extremely friendly and the service is very fast. I had steamed mussels with red sauce for the first time ever and these guys did not disappoint! It was the perfect combo for a delicious bite. Their gelato is made fresh in-house and is also very tasty and delicious, I included the photos so you can see the authenticity! 10 out of 10 I recommend this place if you want good food delicious pizza and fast service. July 9,2014: Not surprised about the bad reviews. Our in person order was wrong when we got it home even after correcting the girl 3 times when she repeated it back incorrectly. We ordered 2 ham and cheese hoagies and one Italian.All with oil. What we got was 3 Ham and cheeses. No oil. The rolls are so dense and dry they are rubbery.So without oil they were worse than that Hardly any meat on the hoagie. Why am I so disappointed? To start I'm visiting in the off season and pizza was so fresh and tasty! This is a mom and pop unique one stop tour of Italian favorites! There's a Gelateria, a Restaurant, and a Pizzeria all under the same roof! To be fair I will need to update my review when I can come back and try more things on the menu! That being said I will be back! Today we grabbed a white pizza and had them put pepperoni on half of it. I was able to watch the owner start the dough, toss, stretch, and dress it before placing it in the oven. Technique in pizza is an art you can taste it in the final product! Thin in the center. Light and fluffy in the crust! I wish it would have been cooked a little longer because I like a little crunch in the center. The dough was so tasty! The crust around the outside had nice fluffy bubbles that made the crust a treat in itself. I can't put my finger on it but it was an amazing flavored crust! As we waited I had the chance to talk to the owner who is a NY resident and a Palermo, Sicily native! I added some desserts of course! The cannoli was delicious! Very fresh filling! We had an impromptu graduation party at our hotel this past week and couldn't have been happier with Sal's. We ordered ahead of time (6 pizzas - plain, margarita, Hawaiin with hot peppers - I know, but don't knock it 'til you try it - pepperoni, sausage pepper and onion, and Sicilian) and it was delivered exactly when we were promised. Terrible service. Ordered delivery, said it would be an hour it was an hour and a half and they did not deliver one meal but charged me for it. Up front, I'm not giving a one star ONLY because they have always been a go-to pizza place in the Crest. My family has been visiting for 27 years this summer and have been a customer of Sal's for just as long. I even remember when they only had the one small storefront at the same location...just a tiny pizzeria with great quality food. Unfortunately, the last few years the quality has slipped more and more. Tonight my wife and I just wanted a small bite to eat, so we ordered Calamari, Caprese (mozzarella, tomato, balsami), Pasta Fagioli soup, and 2 cannolis. The calamari was terrible! It looked like it was a day old(see photo), reheated multiple times, and it tasted like it was 2 days old! I eat almost anything and I tried to eat some, but didn't even get half of it down while masking it in sauce and eating it with the bread. My wife's soup was pretty good, while the caprese was tolerable (tasted like store bought fresh mozzarella log with semi-fresh tomato). The only saving grace are the cannolis, which are great! But overall this subpar food cost us $40.50! I can't say anything more...I can only shake my head. Please, to the owners, pay attention to what the customers are saying here on yelp and reviews on other sites BEFORE it's too late. I hope it isn't already too late. read more

I love to go to "Ma & Pa" places. Support your local family owned businesses. With that being said, that is exactly what you get when you are here. They treat you like family. Remember your face, your name and what you eat. If your in a rush, this is not the place for you. Food here is made to order..... so it takes as long as it takes. Food is made with love and the atmosphere is very welcoming. Fun loving and silly family with amazingly positive attitudes. Food is great. We have NEVER been unsatisfied. Owners have even sat down with us to enjoy conversation and drink. Love going here, the food and the family. These people will even make things that are not on the menu. So many things to choose from. I love their broccoli white pizza with ricotta on it. AGAIN not on the menu, sprinkle garlic on it and enjoy.
