My wife and I visited Salsa Tex Mex for lunch. They have a brunch and lunch menu which is very nice. We showed up a couple of minutes before 11 (which is when they open), but they gladly opened the doors to allow us in. The dining room has a very open atmosphere with rows of tables. Sometimes this can cause a noisy atmosphere. Fortunately it was early, so there wasn't a large crowd. It could be very exciting during the dinner rush, but It's not conducive to quite conversation if that's what you're looking for. I had the chicken flautas and my wife had the brisket omelet with potatoes. Both were very good . The flautas came with sour cream and guacamole which a lot of restaurants only provide on request and sometimes charge extra for. The price to portion size was excellent. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Our waiter refilled our drinks on several occasions and made sure to ask if our food was cooked to our satisfaction. After reading all the great reviews I decided to give this restaurant a try and was extremely not impressed. First: Hostess needs to be trained better on customer service. Food: not impressed as another customer pointed out this isn't close to Tex-Mex. Tortillas aren't made fresh they are store bought. We did enjoy the black bean dip w/chips and ordered the tacos al carbon (chicken) w/rice rice tasted sweet for some odd reason and chicken was ok no onions or anything in the chicken it was just dry grilled chicken rolled up like mini taquitos not at all as a taco should be. Drinks: we did enjoy the margaritas very stiff and refreshing and they had happy hour so $4 not bad. All in all for the big price tag the food isn't worth us returning anytime soon. If your looking for a nice happy hour place to go after work this place is for you grab and appetizer and a couple drinks with chips and bean dip and your set. My new go-to Tex Mex restaurant in Frisco. They prepare food fast! I've only ordered to go so I can't speak much for the service. But the bartenders I've dealt with when I order to go have been friendly. They've taken my orders quickly, even while they were busy with happy hour patrons... And it gets busy! The chips and bean dip are great! The salsa is good too. I've tried the brisket enchiladas brisket chimichanga, chicken chimichanga, chicken quesadillas, and Pollo con Hongos. My only complaint is the brisket was a bit salty in the enchilada and chimichanga but still edible. The other dishes had were flavored well. We do a lot of carry out from there and have tried almost everything. Our go-tos are the brisket fajitas, we usually order at least one of those every time. Good margaritas. That is literally the only positive thing I can say about my experience tonight at Salsa Tex Mex. First and foremost, my Tacos al Cabon were​ inedible​. The meat was of such low quality, so grisly​, so chewy, I literally couldn't eat it. I could not swallow a single bite. When our waiter came to pick up my obviously​ uneaten plate, he either didn't understand​ me or didn't care about my description of the problem. He walked away and still charged me $14, dropping my check off without a word. To say he was indifferent to our satisfaction is an understatement. He said maybe 10 words to us the entire time we sat at his table. No manager ever dropped by, no other human checked in with us. This was possibly the worst service I've received at a restaurant, and I worked as a waiter for years. I know table service. On the positive side, the margaritas were good. I needed 2 of them to survive this experience without making a scene. I will NEVER go back, and I recommend you go to literally ANY other restaurant in the area. read more

Went here for a quick bite between practices and a game. I had the tortilla soup, and one of the boys had the kid's burrito and the other had the quesidillias. The kids portions were large and they seemed to like them, although my oldest did say there was too much "stuff" in his burrito - however, he is young and does not know that a burrito can never have too much stuff . My soup was okay, but I'd probably get something different next time. What was spectacular were the free chips. They brought out both salsa and a black bean dip, and both were excellent. We usually order take-out from here when I work. I've ordered either the chicken or beef fajitas on separate locations and it was delicious! They also have this white queso, which is something you gotta try! My co-workers also really like the bean dip, but I'm not big into beans, so I personally haven't tried it. However, no matter what time or day I have ordered Salsa's, about 30 minutes after I eat, I get food poisoning, which sucks when I'm at work needing to see patients but need to constantly be in the bathroom. No one else seems to have this issue, so maybe it is just me. The food is really good so I continue to try it hoping the result will be different. This was my first time coming here. I have heard both good and bad things about this place so I thought i would give it a shot. They do give you free salsa and bean dip. I enjoyed the salsa buy wasn't a fan of the bean dip(not a fan in general) Ordered cheese enchiladas with fajita while they were good and the food was delicious I felt as if the service was lacking, I had to ask for a refill after my drink was completely empty. This was my first time at the Frisco location. Food was good like always. Drinks were great. We waited awhile for desserts and churros came out cold and ice cream was literally half melted. Service was awful. Restaurant was maybe half full. Were checked on maybe once after ordering. Never were asked if we wanted more drinks. Just left our empty drinks there for an hour. dirty dishes stacked everywhere and had to ask to have table clean when desserts arrived. Server, Andrea H, was rude from the start. Slamming waters down, not friendly, visible attitude. We asked the host for a manager. When the manager came, Andrea literally charged us up and interrupted us talking to him and kept repeating "what are you saying?? What are you talking about??" When I said I was talking to the manager, she just kept repeating herself. She then walked away with the manager and we could visibly see her walking up to every other employee complaining about us. We brought this to the managers attention as well. We weren't fishing for anything free - we paid our full tab and still gave 20% tip. I have been to this location several times and each time I really enjoy the food. My go to meal is the fajitas with ice tea. There salsa is very good as well. Also had the fish tacos, which were delicious. A side of coleslaw and some light chipotle mayo alongside flour tortillas stuffed with a grilled white fish (can't remember the type, sorry!), and then literally HUGE slices of avocado and tomatoes. We came here on a Friday night and it was packed. It took a while for our drink orders, and to be greeted by our server. We ordered queso which was basically just cheese wiz and some paprika. I was pretty disappointed by it. I ordered the fajitas, and my husband ordered the brisket enchiladas. My fajitas were pretty standard, nothing to write home about, but good. My husband did not like his brisket enchiladas at all. He said the brisket did not have a good flavor, and he didn't like the queso on it. Service was probably the killer of the whole experience. Meh food can be brought up or down by service. It took quite a long time to get anything, like refills, the check, etc. I understand they were busy, but it's Friday, c'mon, to be expected. I was just visiting a friend in Texas recently and came to this place, that was supposed to be great but the service was bad and it kind of ruined it We ordered drinks which were great. We all got silver margaritas with patron and I'd recommend them. I also got a burrito which was tasty as well. BUT, about halfway through our food our server asked us if we needed boxes and then asked us like two more times before everyone had even eaten. It was obvious that she wanted to get rid of us because it was pretty slow and she probably wanted to leave. I used to be a server and I know the signs of rushing people out... she was definitely doing this and it really annoyed all of us. Some of the best Tex Mex we have had, hands down. We were a party of 7 that stopped in for Lunch. We were pleasantly pleased to find a varied menu with lunch specials. All flavors were on point! So close to LOVING this spot and will certainly be back even after my food issue below. Everything was delicious and flavorful and the portions are worth the price you pay. Hubby had chicken enchiladas and beef tacos and was very satisfied. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas and at dinner, was very impressed. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and they had a really nice fresh garlic flavor. I had leftovers since my dish came with sides with as well as complimentary chips and salsa (we ordered takeout and they gave us a large portion, love that!). Ate the leftovers at lunch today, the enchiladas broke apart a little when reheating and much to my horror I found THE SHRIMP WERE NOT DEVAINED. There went my appetite! Price, Price, Price. I have a large family, so this place is always a good option because the prices are great and everyone loves the food. The staff is friendly and helpful.
