This restaurant belongs to the neighborhood. It is always packed with folks. It is not earth-shattering Tex-Mex, so don't come here expecting it. What you will get is reliable, good food, very stiff drinks, great service at a reasonable price. The wait staff and bartenders have gotten to know us and even the prickly bartender has warmed up to us because we discovered we have a shared love of tennis. If there is a major tournament or slam going on, I can be sure the tv at the bar will have tennis on. I love their ceviche tostadas. I usually order one with extra avocado on it be side. I also order off-menu plantains. They are made perfectly and comes with sour cream. Their charro beans are also my favorite--it is so hearty and so good on a cold day. My kids love their chicken flautas and spinach enchiladas. My husband and I love the brisket tacos and carne asada (cooked medium) with chimichurri sauce. I have been a customer for some time. During the last year the cook changed the salsa recipe and now it has too much black pepper in it. It is the worst salsa I have ever tasted in 30+ years. I like the restaurant but they need to stop putting so much pepper in the salsa. read more

I came here with a fellow Yelper and it's actually by my home so I've been meaning to stop and try it out. I ordered the Chicken enchiladas with the spicy white sauce. I also had the jalapeño margarita since it was during happy hour. The enchiladas were delicious and I kept kicking myself for waiting so long to come and try this place out. The margarita was everything because I like it spicy. The nice touch to the rim was nice as well. We did end up going to another Salsa Tex-Mex off Legacy and I had the same thing but not with spicy white sauce and it didn't taste the same at all. We've been to the Salsa Tex Mex in Plano and thought we would enjoy the Frisco location as well. Unfortunately, this place doesn't measure up to the original restaurant. I ordered the shrimp El Mojo dish and found the grilled shrimp to be overcooked but it did have a nice flavor. My guest had the beef brisket fajita platter and he was disappointed that the quality of the brisket was not good and also it looked like they left the dish sitting for a while before the waiter served it to us. The platter was not sizzling at all like it supposed to. Service was meh. It was obvious that the waiter didn't want to be there. I would suggest not eating at their outdoor patio. For some strange reason, there were a lot of flies and gnats flying around and landing in our food. Also, their restrooms were filthy. read more

We were on our way camping and decided to stop for a last lunch before wild. We chose this place, in Frisco, because it had an outdoor patio. The patio is covered so rain wouldn't have been a problem and looked spacious and comfortable. Unfortunately , the patio was closed at the time so we went inside instead. The hostess was friendly and seated us immediately. The waiter was right behind with menus. Very friendly. In fact, everybody was friendly on the staff. He took our drink orders. Stacey got Michelob Ultra (no judging) and I always like to try the house margarita (4.00) at a new mexican place. The waiter brought the drinks and some water very quickly. The margarita was a great house drink, not too big and not too small. I'lll try one of the top shelf ones next time. She ordered the beef tacos and I ordered the beef fajita quesadilla. We absolutely love this place! We've lived in our neighborhood about 12yrs & this has consistently been our favorite restaurant. This is one of the few restaurants in Frisco that has been around for years & it's because the food is always great. They have THE best salsa in town & I also love their guacamole. Most restaurants put too much onion & tomato in the guacamole making it too chunky but Salsas' is mostly avocado, which I love. What a great find!! You have to get their white queso, it's one of the best queso (especially white one) that I've ever had!! Now that's out of the way, let's go on about the rest.. Me and my friend came here for lunch on a Saturday and got a seat at their small and nice patio! We received very efficient and nice service despite sitting outside, I know how servers can be negligent often in the patio. The server was very smart about splitting the queso halfway without even being prompted to when we asked for a separate check. He was also never annoying and checked on us just often enough. Jalapeño Margarita (2/5): I ordered a jalapeño Margarita which was the first kind I've ever had and I was a little disappointed, I thought the jalapeño flavor would seep in to the whole drink making the drink itself spicy, but that wasn't really the case. What is spicy is when you sometimes get bits of jalapeño seed or skin through the straw. I will give them props for making the drink pretty strong without tasting like it though! Chicken de la casa (4/5): I looove cheese stuffed shrimp especially wrapped in bacon so I had to get it. The vegetables that came on the side was also very delicious along with scrumptious sized shrimps! It was even more amazing when I poured some of leftover white queso on it. Drools. White queso (5/5): just get it!! Overall, what a well-rounded place! Love the affordable price and creative menu of their drinks. And apparently on a Sunday it's happy hour ALL DAY! They've got 3 dollar bloody Mary's and 2 dollar mimosas, a brunch menu ranging from $8-10 and the portion sizes are large. they bring black bean dip with your chips and salsa and they've also got an extra spicy salsa available by request. The service is quick and the staff is friendly. They've got a full bar, a patio and two TVs playing whichever sports game is on. I chose the breakfast burrito stuffed with your choice of fajita beef chicken or chorizo and scrambled eggs tomatoes and potatoes. My gf got the brisket tacos which were very flavorful. For tex-mex locale, you could do better. I am new to the Frisco area, but from I can tell, locals LOVE this joint. It is very rare that you can get a table here without a substantial wait, even on during the week. We came on a Tuesday and waited about 25 minutes for a table. Service was not great, it was pretty impersonable and rushed. The food was just fine, I had chicken fajitas that I felt could have honestly been better. The salsa was really yummy and fresh.
