Generally good tex-mex but last night was very disappointing. It was my birthday and I ordered Shrimp Fajitas (although expensive) in anticipation of a good dinner. Didn't happen for my meal. The large shrimp were overcooked (making them tough) and the peppers and onions were barely sauted. Some of the peppers weren't even sliced up, just large pieces. And the worse was the whole platter was swimming in grease. I should have sent it back and I don't know why I didn't. Maybe because our waitress was swamped (the place was very crowded for a Monday night) and she seemed to not be able to keep up with her section. Sad as they used to be so much better. 2 stars because I like the food in general but should be 1 star. My son and I called in to place a to go order and we were put on hold and person never came back to the phone. Hung up and called back, different person happened again. If you are too busy to take to go orders, just say that. It's a bummer but I would at least understand. Good news and bad news...mostly really good. The bad first. This place is very, very popular. One of the most popular restaurants by far in Frisco and Plano, which means you are going to wait for a table. 45 minute wait for a table on a Friday night at 6:30. People still waiting at 8 when we left. Also, 45 minutes for our meal to be delivered from order. That's the bad. The good news is the food is really, really good. It is also very family friendly. In Kid Central Frisco, this works. The kids love it here. Mom and Dad too. It also works for groups. We have seen groups of eight or ten here. They just push table together. The food arrives really hot and ready to eat as they have food runners to bring it out from the kitchen. Not all restaurants do this. It makes a difference. This restaurant is very well run and efficient. Lots of employees dedicated to what they are doing. One family told use they arrived at closing time one Sunday night from the airport and there was still a wait. So, be prepared and patient. We are here more often than any other restaurant by far. One of the best Tex Mex in the area! The tortilla chips here are so thin and crispy with three different dips including the beans. I got the beef nachos and loved how it wasn't messy like other places-- so much meat on each nacho with plenty of sour cream, cheese, and jalapeños! It was my first time here and everything was great! My friends and I came in for lunch and it was not as busy. All the servers were wearing masks and the restaurant was practicing social distancing. Chips, salsa, verde sauce, and bean dip were served to start out with. I love the bean dip from Gloria's and this was a pretty close second. Our waters were always filled and we never had to ask, which was great! I ordered the chicken and spinach quesadillas and it was yummy! I was surprised on how large the portions were, but that is fine by me since it was basically 2 meals for the price of 1! The pricing isn't bad either. The best thing about this place is hands down the margaritas. They don't hold back on the alcohol and have enough flavors to make everyone happy. Happy hours finest location! The restaurant itself is in a great location for parking and has both indoor and outdoor Seating. It can get quite crowded but if you go early enough you won't have an issue. The items on the menu have some strange names which I have yet to get to the bottom of. They serve a black been dip and salsa and though it looks like poo, it is really really good. I don't even like black beans and ate the heck out of it. I went with the beef and also cheese enchiladas with the chili con carne and both are really delicious. Flavor wasn't too overpowering and a great combo. We also had a Daniels burrito (I think that's the right name) which comes with plenty of sides to load up on top like guacamole and lettuce as well as warm queso to dump on it. Again, really good flavors and honestly the prices were stellar for the amount of food. Service, polite and professional, avoiding all the usual unnecessary chitchat so many servers feel obliged to attempt as a way to boost their tips. The food is extremely well prepared. Last few visits we have ordered "The Acapulco" and shared between both of us. The Black bean dip comes out warm at the start and is great with the bowls of Red and Green sauce. The service was pretty good, but service with a smile is not part of the training. After watching the wait staff, it is pretty evident they do not want to be there or the management is hard to work for, because nobody smiles, including the hostesses up front. In fact the hostesses will say "Thanks for Coming In", and never once look up from their personal cell phone. Again the food is great and is still worth the stop. I haven't been to Salsas in years, but recently my buddy has been going often and saying how much he likes it. So last Friday night I took my family there at 5:00. To my surprise, they were almost at full capacity. We were able to get a 4 top right away and were quickly greeted with chips, salsa, and black bean dip and our drink orders taken. My buddy raves about the sangria swirl margarita, so that's what I ordered. It arrived quickly. This is a legit margarita! It's not that big, but it's strong. My buddy told me to get an off the menu special they have called churasco. It's basically a grilled steak, not sure the cut. I ordered that and my wife and daughter both ordered chicken enchiladas. The steak was amazing! It came with a grilled sausage that was just OK to me. My family said the enchiladas were good. Service was great throughout the meal. Food was great. Swirl was great. First trip here. Sunday night quick dinner with family. We skipped any appetizers since it was getting late. My wife had tortilla soup that was served cold. Microwaved to warm up, instead of serving fresh. I had a burrito, came without any sauces other than a plastic cup of queso. Burrito was good. Rice and beans were delicious. Great service and food. I ordered the taco salad with shredded chicken. They gave me more chicken than lettuce, actually. I added black beans which is a bad choice as their black beans seemed to be more creamy than whole. The flavor of the salad was pretty good. But my absolute favorite thing from here is the salsa. I could have eaten only that. I loved it. My husband ordered the shrimp and brisket fajitas and said it was just okay. Recently came for dinner and not sure how I feel about the food. They were very busy and to be fair they did accommodate us as quickly as possible. Service was swift and friendly. The chips and 3 choices of salsa are great. Loved the salsa verde. Entrees came and here is where it lacked flavor. Chicken quesadillas and enchiladas were bland. Not awful just no taste. Enchiladas were luke warm and had zero flavor. Quesadillas were better but we still felt there was no taste. So again not a bad place but I wish it had been better. read more
