I am going to lower the rating again. The waitstaff is terrible. I am so nice and I try to engage them in conversation and be nice but they all seem so angry and so ready to get me out of here. I am sad about this because their food is excellent, but I tip really well and I like to have them respond when I ask them questions or ask for something. read more

2 stars because I like the food in general but should be 1 star. My son and I called in to place a to go order and we were put on hold and person never came back to the phone. Hung up and called back, different person happened again. If you are too busy to take to go orders, just say that. It's a bummer but I would at least understand. To just drop phone and walk away is unacceptable in my eyes. We shall see if we ever make it back, pretty disappointing service at a place we as a family used to enjoy. read more

The staff told me my credit card was declined and asked for a second card. They ended up charging me twice for the same meal (once on each card). Now I have to get my credit card company involved and maybe others ... seems like an easy scam. read more

We recently visited specifically seeking the almighty greasy TexMex + margarita combination and this place hit the spot! I thought we'd have to wait an hour visiting on a Sunday but even though they were slammed, we got seated quick. Awesome prices for yummy food and the drinks were on point, too. Service great, also. Only complaint is it can get super loud but that's not a deal breaker. read more

Love this little Mexican restaurant in a strip center. I have been numerous times. It is always busy but there is always room for us!! The chicken fajitas are excellent, chips great and any other Mex Tex entrees have been great!! I recommend this place and will keep going back!! read more

The place was noisy and packed to the gills on a Friday night (understandable). Food was fresh and tasty . The chips/salsa were in the Goldilocks zone (just perfect). Even though it was busy, the service was quick ! Overall a very satisfying experience!!! read more

Good news and bad news...mostly really good. The bad first. This place is very, very popular. One of the most popular restaurants by far in Frisco and Plano, which means you are going to wait for a table. 45 minute wait for a table on a Friday night at 6:30. People still waiting at 8 when we left. Also, 45 minutes for our meal to be delivered from order. That's the bad. The good news is the food is really, really good. It is also very family friendly. In Kid Central Frisco, this works. The kids love it here. Mom and Dad too. It also works for groups. We have seen groups of eight or ten here. They just push table together. The food arrives really hot and ready to eat as they have food runners to bring it out from the kitchen. Not all restaurants do this. It makes a difference. This restaurant is very well run and efficient. Lots of employees dedicated to what they are doing. One family told use they arrived at closing time one Sunday night from the airport and there was still a wait. So, be prepared and patient. We are here more often than any other restaurant by far. One of the best Tex Mex in the area! The tortilla chips here are so thin and crispy with three different dips including the beans. I got the beef nachos and loved how it wasn't messy like other places-- so much meat on each nacho with plenty of sour cream, cheese, and jalapeños! They have great happy hour and margaritas are no joke. You can tell they don't go easy on their tequilas. read more

I love this place. I've only ever had the best service and food experience. The beans, the salsa, the fried stuffed jalapeno are all GOATed. This place is always busy, so you know it's good! It was my first time here and everything was great! My friends and I came in for lunch and it was not as busy. All the servers were wearing masks and the restaurant was practicing social distancing. Chips, salsa, verde sauce, and bean dip were served to start out with. I love the bean dip from Gloria's and this was a pretty close second. Our waters were always filled and we never had to ask, which was great! I ordered the chicken and spinach quesadillas and it was yummy! I was surprised on how large the portions were, but that is fine by me since it was basically 2 meals for the price of 1! The pricing isn't bad either. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for affordable, good tex-mex! I would love to come back for their happy hour/drinks. read more

Salsa... so good, it will make you want to dance! Food, excellent. Very well cooked and spiced, and the signature sauces are all excellent. Service, polite and professional, avoiding all the usual unnecessary chitchat so many servers feel obliged to attempt as a way to boost their tips. Ambiance, very nice, with music at an appropriate volume so you can hear and talk with your dining companion(s)... unlike so many other places. Sad! Prices are quite reasonable as well. The food is extremely well prepared. Last few visits we have ordered "The Acapulco" and shared between both of us. The Black bean dip comes out warm at the start and is great with the bowls of Red and Green sauce. The service was pretty good, but service with a smile is not part of the training. After watching the wait staff, it is pretty evident they do not want to be there or the management is hard to work for, because nobody smiles, including the hostesses up front. In fact the hostesses will say "Thanks for Coming In", and never once look up from their personal cell phone. Again the food is great and is still worth the stop. But if you are looking for Service with a Smile, this isn't the place to be. As well the servers were very non-apparent after your food came, so make sure you get your Tea and water filled before the meal is served. read more

If you like REAL Mexican food, don't go here. If you want Mexican food but you're one who tends to claim that everything is "too spicy" then this is the place for you! If you enjoy feeling claustrophobic while seated at your table because all the tables are so close, terrible service, and tasteless food, then this is the place for you! I myself am not a fan of any of these things, so I'm giving it a low review. I really don't understand how they have customers. read more

The best thing about this place is hands down the margaritas. They don't hold back on the alcohol and have enough flavors to make everyone happy. Happy hours finest location! The restaurant itself is in a great location for parking and has both indoor and outdoor Seating. It can get quite crowded but if you go early enough you won't have an issue. The items on the menu have some strange names which I have yet to get to the bottom of. They serve a black been dip and salsa and though it looks like poo, it is really really good. I don't even like black beans and ate the heck out of it. I went with the beef and also cheese enchiladas with the chili con carne and both are really delicious. Flavor wasn't too overpowering and a great combo. We also had a Daniels burrito (I think that's the right name) which comes with plenty of sides to load up on top like guacamole and lettuce as well as warm queso to dump on it. Again, really good flavors and honestly the prices were stellar for the amount of food. Overall great Mexican place in the area and look forward to trying more items and ohhh those margaritas! read more

First trip here. Sunday night quick dinner with family. We skipped any appetizers since it was getting late. My wife had tortilla soup that was served cold. Microwaved to warm up, instead of serving fresh. I had a burrito, came without any sauces other than a plastic cup of queso. Burrito was good. Rice and beans were delicious. Quesadilla and flautas were a little bland but not bad at all. They were busy so staff was slow. Small corner restaurant. We would give another try. read more

Recently came for dinner and not sure how I feel about the food. They were very busy and to be fair they did accommodate us as quickly as possible. Service was swift and friendly. The chips and 3 choices of salsa are great. Loved the salsa verde. Entrees came and here is where it lacked flavor. Chicken quesadillas and enchiladas were bland. Not awful just no taste. Enchiladas were luke warm and had zero flavor. Quesadillas were better but we still felt there was no taste. So again not a bad place but I wish it had been better. read more

I recently tried this place using door dash and it was the finest steak quesadilla I have ever enjoyed! The only thing that I would point out was the tortilla soup it looked strange to me but I ordered it again tonigt and asked them to make it properly. The best steak quesadilla Ihave had in a l ong time and I always order Tex Mex. I appreciated the review by one person and so I went for it. I ordered the steak quesadilla tonight and it was not good a different chef I guess...tough fatty grizzeld meat. read more

We visit Salsa Tex Mex quite often and have to say. Our visit on 10/2/2024 was the best night ever. Let me say previous visits have been great BUT this night, our server Silmy was absolutely fabulous. Great personality, very knowledgeable and very attentive. She was the best server we had encountered in a while given this day and how customer service has become. To top it off the manager Gonzalo stopped by and he was equally as kind and super fun to chat with. Great place, great food and phenomenal customer service. Love this place! read more

Great service and food. I ordered the taco salad with shredded chicken. They gave me more chicken than lettuce, actually. I added black beans which is a bad choice as their black beans seemed to be more creamy than whole. The flavor of the salad was pretty good. But my absolute favorite thing from here is the salsa. I could have eaten only that. I loved it. My husband ordered the shrimp and brisket fajitas and said it was just okay. I will try something else next time and let you know because I will certainly be returning, it's too close to my neighborhood not to. read more

The food was absolutely delicious, however our waiter was one of the rudest impatient people I have ever met. This was my first time coming there with friends. I had questions about the menu, and he just made it extremely hard for me to understand the menu and find what I really wanted. He was very impatient and rude. I understand there was a language barrier, however, his behavior was unacceptable, which caused me to cancel an additional to go order because he was so rude. I would suggest the restaurant has another training class with their servers on their customer service . They will lose good customers because of the reasons listed above. Please consider taking this review seriously. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! My family and I eat here regularly, and we cant get enough. The customer service is exquisite. Everyone is super kind, and paitent. What a Great Surprise! My family stopped by on a Saturday evening and the place was full of people. It was 3 of us and we were seated immediately. The menu had a large variety to choose from for the family. For food we ordered the chicken tostadas, Saul's Platter and quesabirria tacos. Chicken tostadas plate was full, tasted great, and enough for two people or two days. Saul's platter is what my wife ordered.... She was humming the whole time and just kept shaking her head with joy. I ordered the birria tacos. These are the best I've had since living here. The beef was cooked to perfection and seemed to have been marinated and had a hint of citrus that went nicely with the consome when dipping. Charro black beans were seasoned well and had a light smokey flavor. The server we had (Fatima) was energetic and vibrant. She was only on her third or fourth day working there, but you couldn't tell. She had a great attitude, stopped by just the right amount of times. Ask to sit in Fatima's area to get great service and make sure you tip her well. read more

From the moment you step into they foyer, yes there is a foyer and enter the main building the decor, the music, the live plants, the colors - ALL of it are straight out of a tropical resort. The famous chips, salsa and bean dip has not changed, thank goodness! The menu hasn't changed, but we were able to partake in the brunch menu on this Sunday morning. I stuck with my favorite Tropical Salad with fresh mangos and berries topped with grilled chicken. My husband enjoyed the brunch menu Breakfast Tacos with fresh fruit and enjoyed the hearty portion with brisket. Our kiddos stuck with the kid's menu grilled chicken and chicken nuggets - all were pleased. They were especially thrilled the kids menu comes with a scoop of ice cream! The service was the usual friendly and speedy but not rushed. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will be back to this beautiful new location!

Ordered a frozen swirl margarita and normally this drink would give me a buzz. Not this time. Couldn't tell if there was alcohol in it. Maybe they're skimping on the Top Shelf? Ordered enchiladas- beef with red sauce, and chicken with sour cream sauce. The chicken was moist, but both sauces were bland. Like seriously-no taste. The rice on the plate was shaped liked a hockey puck and had the same consistency. Didn't order dessert. Was pretty put off by the food. I really hope they get their act together and stop cutting corners. The new place is nice, but I feel like they're trying to save $$ to pay for this new location. I'll try again in a few months. They got 3 stars for nostalgic reasons and a hope they get back to what made them so good before. But for now, cost cutting is the primary menu item.

They maintained authenticity for many years expanding even into other states. Then,as often happens,the nose dive began. As a result I quit eating at Chuy's,even when visiting Austin. Not the same. Then,a few months ago enter Darden Restaurant Group. They bought Chuy's lock stock and barrel folding it into their operations which includes one of my faves, Longhorn Steakhouse. I was anxious to try Chuy's again and see if the Upward recovery had begun. I overlooked the Plano location having never liked it that much in favor of the newer Frisco location. Due to my 18/6 eating schedule we went for a early dinner. Bottom line is,Yes! Atmosphere,food, service,prices combine to provide a great Tex-Mex experience. I highly recommend you.... Go!
