We visited for the first time over the Memorial Day weekend, and the place was packed! We went for a snack during happy hour, and ordered the pork nachos. The meat was flavored great, the sauce was tasty, and the salsa was homemade and flavorful. Unfortunately, the dish is built on Juanita's brand chips. Even though I LOVE Juanita's, they just can't stand up to the weight of nachos. Also, we definitely got the bottom of the bag because there wasn't a single, whole chip on the plate. The service was slow. They were busy, but after getting the drinks and food we never saw our waitress again. I'll try again during winter months. read more

The service here is 5 star! The food items I had were pedestrian at best. I don't know about the other items but I had the side salad (good/fresh) and the clam chowder. The chowder was rich with clams, bacon, corn, and red potatoes. This sounded wonderful but in reality the clams were tasteless, the potatoes tasted old rather than creamy, and the broth had zero flavor. Odd .... The only thing I can imagined is that they added way to much milk/water/flower to the clam nectar/base. Wait time was supposed to be 20 minutes, but was actually 40. No one to check in with or talk to. Even when the app said our table was ready we had to wait another 5 minutes to be seated. The food was good, but way too expensive for what we got. A burger and fries should not be $16, and fish & chips shouldn't be $25. I was there last weekend with my boyfriend celebrating his birthday. We were able to attend the Balboa Wine pairing dinner. Wow! We were both totally blown away by the quality of the 4 courses and presentation. The pea puree with the pork tenderloin was so fresh and delicious. It melted in your mouth. The beef tenderloin and the blue cheese stuffed mushroom??!!?? Better than sex, but don't tell my boyfriend!! This dinner was hands down one of the best meals I have ever had! read more

But it's "cute" old, cheaply updated. Paper-thin walls and doors. Beware that the photos at booking sites are of what I guess is a showroom-room. Our room was nothing like them. The food was terrible and the servers need HELP. We were seated at a high-top table (only option) with an older Grandparent, and two and four year olds so they were all constantly tipping and trying not to fall out of their seats. The view is lovely, and the space seems nicely decorated. However, we were seated next to a group of people that were loudly day-drunk and yelling so much we could barely hear ourselves. It was also VERY bright and the sun was glaring hard in our faces. We tried to pull the curtain but nearly knocked over a lamp. Another time it would have been nice to have more service. Our waitress was very nice but we felt terrible for her because the restaurant was clearly understaffed and overwhelmed; which resulted in late order taking, late drink order taking, late/no drink refills, lack of silverware, asking for the check twice, etc. The food presentation was lovely but the actual food was "the worst I've ever eaten" (quote from our party). We had Mac n cheese, Crab Mac n' Cheese, the Cuban sandwich, and the Tuna Melt. The fries were good, everything else was practically inedible. The Mac n cheese was just noodles in milk with melted cheese and stale chips on top. Very tiny crab particles were spotted but it tasted so bad it was left uneaten on the table ($18). Tuna melt smelled and tasted of petroleum and was picked apart, but left uneaten at the table. Cuban was so tough one could barely chew it. Half was eaten and the other was thrown away. We ate the fries. Very disappointed. We won't be back. read more

Amazing! Utterly amazing. I had the rosemary polenta for dinner. It was tasty and filling. The polenta was firm and flavorful. The seasonal veggies were spot on. For dessert I had the seasonal cobbler which was TOO DIE FOR! So good. I ate it immediately and forgot to take a picture. It was also massive! For breakfast I had the biscuit sandwich with the bacon on the side. Being from south I consider myself a biscuit snob and this one was spot on! Highly recommend. We visited the restaurant on Friday Aug. 3rd. We were told that there was a 15 minute wait and to sit downstairs as there is no bar for waiting. After over an hour of waiting, I asked if we were forgotten which we were. Nobody bothered to ask while our group of four sat patiently. We were taken upstairs where there were several open tables. Promptly we were told that the kitchen was shutting down and our menu was limited to a handful of selections. I was so disappointed that no accommodations were made after we told the waitress about our situation. So happy to have another good spot when we visit the southern WA coast! This is a cute spot on the bay marina just a short drive or bike ride south from Long Beach. We were a smidge disappointed that the menu didn't have more vegetarian options on their lunch menu but with the help of our accommodating waitress we made it work! We ordered the Brussels sprouts minus the pork shoulder (or something like that) and the plain mac and cheese. We anticipated the food to be simple and bland since we removed some of the main ingredients. Wrong! The Brussels sprouts were amazing and at first I thought they had brought us the decked out mac and cheese because it didn't look bland at all - but it was minus the lobster? crab? Something like that. Either way, it was amazing. We were going to get a side salad to round everything out (we were splitting all dishes) but the waitress informed us that some greens come on the side of the pasta. This review is for the pub only not the hotel: we went here after we checked out their menu options online on their website and also on menus they provided in our room that we rented. We wanted dungeoness crab mac and cheese but we got there and was given a menu full of food that was completely different.. we were very disappointed but we were starving. So instead of leaving we decided to stay and ordered tuna fish and chips and a tuna melt sandwich. The fish and chips was okay, needed a bit of salt. And the same with tuna melt. After adding some more seasoning and some lemon, the fish tasted much better. The cut fries was mostly burnt. Their menu seems to change all often so you never know what's really available until you get there. I would probably not dine here again unless they have a new menu. read more

Hidden Gem!! Thanks to Yelp, and the reviews we paid them a visit. I was specifically looking for dinner with a view. Enjoyed dinner, local beer and watched the marina. We ordered the deep fried cheese curds, Cuban sandwich, salmon fish and chips and the tuna fish and chips. All were delicious and we had never ordered these types of fish and chips. The salmon was moist and had a fresh fish flavor. The tuna so so thick and meaty. Also they had homemade ranch and tarter sauce.... oh man!! Delish with their fries that still had a hint of potato peel here and there. A bit on the expensive side, service was speedy and definitely a local hot spot. read more

I loved it here. While maybe not right for everyone (not sure how the place would work with kids), it hit the spot for me. Simple, clean and tastefully remodeled rooms. Very comfortable bed. Very pet friendly. Lisa, the manager, is accommodating and friendly. And I love the area. My wife and I stayed here recently for a weekend and it was so great! The hotel is small and cozy but has an up kept and modern feel. The employees were all very kind and accommodating. A few of the rooms have harbor views and it's not directly a view of the ocean but it is still very atmospheric and beautiful. The pub is attached to the rooms and has a full bar with high quality cocktails. food was incredible (I got the Tuna fish and Chips). The fish was very high quality and the tartar sauce was the best I've ever had! Also drink recommendation, if you can forget the name, the "Corpse Drifter" was actually amazing. (I think it uses "starvation" brand vodka and "corpse alley" cranberry juice which is where it gets the name). All in all, great place to spend a cozy weekend away from the city and in a real fishing town. read more

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable but there are several issues. Takes about 2 minutes for hot water in the shower. Also the water pressure is pretty low flow. The wifi signal fades in/out, at least in room 18. When I did have signal it was slower than using the cellular connection to look things up. Not that Ilwaco is a high crime area but there is only a single physical key dead bolt to lock the room door. Most hotels also have a lever you can put over the door so you can keep someone from opening the door and entering when you are inside. This one didn't, there is also no peep-hole so you can't tell who's knocking. Housekeeping is non-existent. We stayed 3 nights and each morning we left to go fishing at 5am. We put out the 'please make up room' card and it stayed there until 4-5pm each day. No one ever showed up to clean the room or refresh towels, or coffee. On Friday I saw them cleaning the room next door when we stopped by our room to grab a few things then head back out thinking they'd clean our room next. Nope, didn't happen they just went home for the day I guess and didn't clean our room. Saturday we put the sign out at 5am and went fishing hoping that maybe they would come make up the room. What's even worse is on Saturday at 10:30a the hotel texted me asking "Is there anything you need?" I responded that yes we could use the room cleaned and fresh set of towels. They said they'd let housekeeping know. I was optimistic that we'd return to a clean room and new towels. But when we returned that afternoon no one had replaced the towels, the coffee or even cleaned up. I texted the hotel back and said we were going back and hopefully someone would make up the room. That didn't happen. Then at 5:30p that night I get a text saying "we are coming up with towels." Then they never knocked or showed up but then texted again saying "oh the maid sign was not on the door so we didn't knock or leave the towels". At this point I was just tired and told them to forget it. Had they not texted me and said we'll let Housekeeping know I would have been less upset but to specifically ask then fail to actually the one thing I requested is ridiculous. Provided you don't want housekeeping or coffee before the restaurant opens in the morning it's alright place to stay. I'll be staying at the hotel up the street next trip. read more

Came here with a group of 11. Solid drink selection with 4 local beers rotating on tap. Among the 11 of us, I think we ordered almost every entree in the menu. Food came out very quickly for how big our group was. The fish was amazing. Tuna melt was phenomenal. The tuna in the fish and chips was great and not greasy. Steamed clams, crab macaroni, and clam chowder were all fantastic. Clam chowder was thick with potatoes and clams piled on top of a soup - some of the best chowder we've ever had. We stayed here for the final leg of our road trip honeymoon, and this place made us feel very comfortable, appreciated, and very well taken care of. The room was a pretty standard, clean motel room, and we were able to get anything we needed easily. Although we were out each day exploring parks in the area, we ate and drank in the pub each night. Jim, Savannah, and crew took amazing care of us. Food, drinks, and service were 10/5. Highly recommend the tuna melt and salty tai (their take on a mai tai). For $100/night including taxes and Airbnb fees, this was an exceptional deal. We'll be back to visit for sure, and are grateful for a truly exceptional hospitality, food, and drink experience. The Salt is a hip and clean place to stay while visiting the Long Beach Peninsula. It is a reasonably priced oasis in an area that can get pretty expensive, especially in the busy summer months. It is nonsense and straight forward, all the basics are covered. My only complaints would be be the foam mattress and the hot water takes some time. read more

Love love love what they did with the space! An old hotel "zjuzshed" up to a cute surf/sea/fishing place to stay with a nice little pub. But that's just walking in. We sat at a window table to look over the docks, and "dove in" to the menu. (Sorry, couldn't help myself there.) We split the fish tacos, and the coconut and almond crusted rockfish sandwich--DANG. First it was hard to choose because the food looked amazing on the menu and walking by to other tables. We will definitely go again! read more
