The view! The food! All with a gorgeous view of Cape Disappointment and the marina. The tuna was fresh caught by our server, and the ingredients were locally sourced and fresh. The drinks were strong and delicious, too. We had crab mac n' cheese and the short rib sliders, and cocktails. The short rib was fork-tender and delicious (bacon jam!), and the dungeness mac n cheese got high marks from the Mister, who is a chef himself. Also worth noting: the bartender/server was playing excellent music - the Specials, the Smiths...you can't go wrong when the music lines up with the food. We've stopped at the Salt Hotel & Pub multiple times. Always great beer, food & friendly staff! We've enjoyed the different Poutines & were surprised they've switched up the menu. Now on their menu is a clam/oyster poutine (I forget the specific menu name). We thought we'd try it however it was a Monday & they'd obviously had a good weekend of business - they were out of the ingredients. Shoot! We decided to have the nachos with pulled pork. It was delicious but we'd suggest a different salsa & jalapeño's as a choice to be added. Order was large enough for two to share & get full! Don't forget they are currently closed on Tues & Wed's. As frequent diners to 42nd street cafe and The Depot (sea view) we wanted to venture out and try some new restaurants. Seeing the excellent ratings and reviews on yelp we decided to give Salt Pub a go and we were delighted by the stunning view of the Port of Ilwacco and the attentiveness of the staff. The menu offers something for everyone without being overwhelming. We started with the crispy Brussel sprouts , the apple and pork were a nice touch and we ate every last morsel. For lunch we both ordered the special of the day, a homemade meatball and marinara sandwich with fries. The hoagie was soft , toasted with butter and garlic giving just a hint of crispness which I personally love. The meatballs were tender with a wonderful flavor and the marinara and melted cheese added to the flavor making this a winner. The two wait staff were diligent without being overwhelming and even gave us a pitcher of our 1/2 Diet Coke and 1/2 coke blend to keep us refilled throughout our meal. Salt Pub has been on my radar for sometime. We stopped in on a cold and blustery day (like most days in these parts). They had a nice selection of brews on tap and what looked like some tasty appetizers. We went for their albacore fish and chips and they did not disappoint. Salt Hotel & Pub was amazing. My fiancé and I drove up the coast for a long weekend away and stayed at the Salt hotel and ate at the pub. This spot is the epitome of quaint coastal towns and the service was great. At the pub, our waitress was jogging between the kitchen and the tables to ensure everyone got their food quickly, but still took time to chat and help us pronounce Ilwaco correctly. Lacks serious experience in restaurant service and organizational management. We went in and sat down as the sign says "seat yourself". After sitting we waited 20 minutes to be acknowledged by the staff and then we were given a limited menu while the kitchen was still putting out full menu items. The restaurant was less than half full and so was the bar. Poor service, poor organization, poor awareness. Staff lacks an understanding of what being in the service industry is about. One staff member- who I believe is the owner- floated around talking about himself at length while customers received extremely poor service. It was clear this person wanted acknowledgement/recognition for owning the restaurant. I'd like him to do his job and ensure that customers are provided with a quality experience first. Then maybe he could read his audience and determine if his customers are interested in listening to him talk at them while their food gets cold. Reading an audience is a critical skill. It's important to learn it so you can understand who cares enough to know your life story (while their food gets cold) and who doesn't. Don't come talk at me about yourself after I've waited 35 minutes for a glass of water. Just don't. I think you have more important things to attend to. That being said, the Hotel was fantastic- restaurant was more than disappointing. It was frustrating. I felt like we were being pranked- it was that bad. This pub is clearly more for locals who want to be seen and heard and acknowledged. Not for those of us looking for a good dining experience. Bummer too, the establishment has so much potential. Terrible service!!! We stopped by on our way through town and thought from the reviews this place would have beer on tap and good food. Beer on tap...what a joke there were only 3 and Rainer. Food? Didn't even get a chance!! We sat there for over 10 minutes and had a small glass of water brought to us. Looking at the others at the bar and their drinks were empty. Waitress walked by and stared at us d never even asked if we wanted anything. A guy came into the bar and told some kid what to do with the dishes and still didn't even ask us if we wanted something to drink. I think he was even the owner. Waitress has poor time management skills. I've waited tables before and you make rounds. There was another waitress wrapping silverware and another walking around with nothing to do. I have to I echo what many of the yelpers are saying regarding the service here. I was here two years ago and had a really bad expericeence. So bad I had to put it out of my mind and I forgot to write a review of it. So here I am now headed north, possibly to Ilwaco and so I thought I'd write of my expericeence. The service was the worst. I ordered from the server who was at the bar and was ignoring me. She very strangely thought that I said I did not want to eat but only drink apparently. So I waited and waited and waited and finally asked where my food was. She said something like "oh, you wanted food?" What a moron. I finally got something quick and it was good, but didn't make up for the wasted time. And I was starving. OWNERS!!! Get your shit together and get your servers on mark, please. read more

Just so you know I love little places like the Salt Pub. Owners are on the floor. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Plus lots of local beer and locally sourced food. However, they need to get their act together. I and my friends were here on a non-holiday weekend and this weekend (Memorial Day). On both visits the Pub was medium busy and we could not get a meal. At least not in a timely fashion. We waited over an hour for food when the food arrived it was cold :(. The kitchen was slow plus the Pub's order system was down (internet failure). They go the extra little mile for their food, the Caesar salad had the perfect panache wuthering a kick of flavor, and the clam chowder is so fresh and perfect! I was with my 2.5 year old who very much approved and my 4 month old and my mom and we all had a wonderful experience and the clam chowder was the best I've had and a happy surprise to see it done in shell like a cioppi I but traditional creamy clam chowder. The food was really quite good, minus the clam chowder. The menu should definitely warn people of the style of the chowder. Never have I seen clam chowder with the clams still in the shells. The potatoes were also totally raw. I get the made to order concept, but the execution was terrible. Two people in my group got the chowder, but they both came out totally different. Literally looked like two different soups. The service is another story. We sat for over an hour without food once we ordered. They definitely need more servers and sections. Every server was all over the restaurant and behind the bar without any organization. Several of us ordered appetizers, but everything all came out at once. Great service from a friendly staff and very fresh and tasty salmon & tuna fish and chips with thick cut fries. The fresh house made tartar sauce was ultra yum too! Salad dressings are also house made - flavorful and delicious. We ate outside on their deck area so had a nice view of the harbor as the sun finally peeled out of the clouds. The berry cobbler with warm cranberries, raspberries, marion berries and crumbles with vanilla bean ice cream topped us off nicely. We will definitely be back again with a big appetite! We loved this place and came back a second day in a row. It's not at all dingy like most restaurants on the coast. The decor was nice and modern, the service was friendly and fast and the food was delicious. I had the tomato soup the first day (which prompted us to return it was so good) and the brisket stew the second day (bc they didn't have the tomato soup again as it was a special). I had clam chowder-but it wasn't like any other clam chowder I have had. Clams in the shells, with a delicious broth filled with chunks of red potatoes and corn. All seasoned perfectly.
