We came here for a birthday celebration and specifically wanted somewhere that offered bottomless mimosas and margaritas. We had a pretty large party, so we expected there might be a few hiccups, but overall we had a good experience. The restaurant was clean, and they were able to accommodate our group by seating us in a booth and adding tables. All of our food came out hot and tasted good. One thing we didn't love was how the food was handed out. Instead of placing the plates in front of each person, they were passed across the table. One of the plates was extremely hot and ended up burning my friend's hand. When we mentioned it, the response was basically, "Oop, yeah, it's hot. I have a napkin, so it's not hot for me." We definitely felt like there should have been a warning before handing over a plate that hot. On the positive side, Joslyn was our server and she was very kind. She did her best to take care of our table, especially considering she was the only server handling our party of 13. She even brought out birthday shots for everyone, which was a really nice touch! Overall, I enjoy coming here. The food is good, the restaurant is clean, and there aren't a ton of places in Gilbert that offer bottomless mimosas and margaritas. I actually came back the following day and did bottomless again. That time, I sat at the bar and the bartenders were great and very attentive. There are few times that I've gone to a restaurant to where I felt like just getting up and leaving. Last night was one of those times. And despite going here multiple times in the past couple years, last night was probably my last. Let's start from the top. Hostess: We arrive around 6pm. Sun was kind of still out, but starting to get dark. It was lovely outside so we asked to be seated outside. We told hostess that we were a party of 7. There was a party behind us who were clearly not with us (would have made us a party of 12) and they just seemed kind of confused. Seating: The weather was nice so we wanted to sit outside. It was starting to get dark and the lights on the patio were off. I get it if we were the first people out there but there was another table out there and it was getting dark. Wouldn't you notice that maybe you should turn on the lights? We were literally reading menus with the street light. We had to ask them to turn on the lights. Prior to the lighting fiasco there were all sorts of issues with the tables. One of our tables was wobbling like a top. Another table was seemingly unattached to the legs as the top flipped up like it wasn't attached to the legs. What is going on with the tables out there? Attentiveness: We got seated and it took a long time for them to come and even take a drink order. Like 5mins. Then another 5-7mins for the beer to come. Then we had to ask if they still had complimentary chips. So we didn't really have chips and beers until 15mins after being seated. And throughout the experience it was just very sparse - like you'd order something and it would come 5mins later. At one point I told the adults that if we didn't have kids then I would have just stood up and bounced. And I say this as someone who is very laid back - I'll even eat food that was improperly made because why get upset about it? But in this case, I just felt like we were invisible and had to ask for everything. Entertainment: This is nitpicking, but out of all the games on, not a single TV had the Diamondbacks on. Why? Beer: No Coors on tap, fine. Got an Ultra. Beers take 5mins to come out. Come out in mugs that are basically room temperature. I don't require my mugs to have literal frost on them, but I do expect my mug to not be feeling like it is basically warm. To add to insult, the beer was also not very cold either. If either the beer or mug was frosty then I would have probably been fine because at least something was cold. I can say this... if they had served us Coors in the cans - the mountains would have NOT been blue for more than 2mins. Food: We've been going to Salt for a while (multiple years, at least) and we feel like they've been constantly changing the menu. There used to be numerous [obviously] vegetarian options but this time all those were gone. The vegetarian tried to order a simple bean burrito and was told that the only bean burrito they make is on the kids menu. OK, so make a bigger one or something? Aside from that food overall was decent. One of the adults in our party felt that the meat was skimped on. Conclusion: When we were deciding where to eat that night I suggested Salt and the other husband was all happy. Even his Mexican wife (who is picky about Mexican food) was amendable to Salt. Of all the times we've gone in the past as just my family it has been terrific - loved the chips, salsa, margarita flights, food, people watching, and atmosphere. The wife and I have done date nights here and gone with groups. And I hate to say it though, I probably will not be back again after last night's experience. And if you look at some of the more recent reviews... you'll notice multiple other people noticing a decline as well... read more

Four of us met here for dinner a couple days ago. We were seated promptly as it was pretty empty. Our server arrived quickly and she was friendly enough. When we asked a question about an item her response was that she didn't know as she was "fairly new". Maybe more training would have been helpful. We got the Queso Dip appetizer, chips and salsa and ordered drinks. The Queso Dip was definitely not a dip. It looked & had the texture of melted rubber. Luckily it tasted a bit better than rubber. I got a cocktail and had a sip, pretty tasty. Started the second sip and felt something sharp. Looked at my glass and it had an inch long chip across the rim. Sent it back and got a new one. Double checked the rim before trying the new one. Definitely will not be back. read more

Ob Tuesdays they have Taco Tuesday deals, which brings the price of tacos down drastically. I got the taco salad with chicken tinga, it was really good. The people I was with got the tacos, there food was extremely delayed compared to mine and they received the wrong items. They said the tacos were just okay, and they had no interest coming back for them. The service was extremely slow for how little people who were in the restaurant and there were multiple waiters. I am giving this maybe to attend, because I really liked my food, but it seems like there is a lack of consistency with service and meals. read more

The bartender was patient and kind when we couldn't decide between two cocktails on the menu. Instead of just suggesting one over the other due to popularity, she asked what we liked about each cocktail and made a custom drink. This was both thoughtful and personal, which really elevated the experience. We were mostly there for drinks, but decided to share the ceviche -- it was a perfect portion with great flavor. I stopped here for lunch while shopping at San Tan mall. Totally random, walked by the place, it looked very inviting, especially the packed patio at lunch hour. The service was wonderful. Super friendly and warm and the waitress made excellent menu recommendations since it was my first time. I only tried the vampire tacos which were absolutely amazing! That said, there were so many great options on the menu that I am looking forward to go back and try. I loved the atmosphere. Bold decor and unapologetically authentic! Great service. Our server was helpful in selecting the best specialty tacos to choose from and since it was Taco Tuesday the prices were great! All $4.50 or $3.50 each. Great food. We ordered the Vampire, chicken, shrimp, and the carne asada. Three out of four were delicious...like so, so, good! Our favorite was the vampire! I'd order them all again except for the carne asada (overcooked/dry). The elote dip made up for it though. It was really good and a great portion. Came for dinner at 6pm on a Wednesday night. I was seated right away but ended up leaving my table to sit at the bar instead. My sister and I shared the carne asada fries and these were so delicious. I would come back just for this appetizer alone. She got the lobster tacos and I got the blackened fish tacos. The lobster one was pretty good but my fish tacos really lacked flavor. This place is great, we started with the chips and guacamole with grilled pineapple that was way better than we expected. The pineapple gave it a perfect blend of goodness. The fish tacos were excellent, the fish was a healthy portion and the sauce, rice with corn, and beans made it a very filling meal. Whew! Highs and lows. On the plus side: Fun decor Great happy hour menu Carnitas tacos were so good! Great salsa! Lows: We got a lot of finger foods and messy stuff like tacos but only got 1 cocktail napkin each. The table next to us got a huge tower of nachos and a tower of cocktail napkins. Does this restaurant only have cocktail napkins?? We'd have asked our server but... Our server was so nice and then just never around. We had to ask the person who brought out food for plates. Then for silverware as we hadn't realized there wasn't any. Then for water as people had bone dry glasses and no one came with water. We'd want to order things and just never get checked on. It wasn't busy. Don't worry, we still tipped 20% because we're not jerks and maybe there was a legit reason. Mini chimis were way too cheesy/creamy/mushy. Oh well! Update to my previous review! We have tried this place a few more times. I am happy to report that the food has gotten much, much better. We have also enjoyed friendly service. I love Arizona Restaurant Week. The menu was fairly priced and the entrees were delicious. There was a course delivery/timing issue that was a bummer, but the manager came by and addressed the problem, which was greatly appreciated. I am glad that we gave this place another try, it is definitely in the date night rotation now. read more

We came tonight for a date at the recommendation of some friends and family - glad we did! The inside is absolutely gorgeous - very well decorated and super clean w an elaborate bar. We were seated right away, just on a Sunday night but not packed. We ordered several drinks (I love spicy margaritas and they had many of them!), the guacamole flight, the vampire tacos, and the al pastor tacos. Loved: the cucumber and pineapple spicy margaritas, the pineapple salsa, the Blue Hawaiian drink, and the vampire tacos! Fantastic!! Liked: the chicharron guac, pomegranate guac, the al pastor tacos, and the margarita flight. Didn't love: the chips and we were disappointed they were out of fish for the blackened fish tacos. Food tasted alright. . Out table ordered the enchiladas, taquitos and corn. Better than barrio queen by a long shot but not enough for me to call it authentic Mexican food. The drinks were good compared to food. I recommend a michelada. I will never understand how a restaurant that allows their employees to wear clothing that shows their midriff, buttocks, and cleavage and consider that "professional" or appropriate workplace attire. Upon entry, you will first notice just how large the restaurant is! Lots of open space with a full bar, fun & vibrant decor & friendly staff! We were immediately greeted by the friendly hostess & taken to our table right away. The menu has an excellent selection of specialty drinks & even serve them by the pitcher! Say less!! We decided on a pitcher of the strawberry pepper margarita and it was top notch! I tend to be a little picky about my margaritas, and this truly was one of the best I've ever had! Spicy & refreshing, this margarita hit the spot! It is made with fresh strawberries, strawberry purée & red chilè peppers. To top it all off, the glass is also coated in a Tajín & chamoy rim. For food, we actually just went with chips & salsa and nothing else! The salsa was a good in flavor, but I would've preferred it to be more chunky. I recently visited this restaurant and unfortunately my experience wasn't great. Even though the restaurant was less than half full, the total time from being seated to getting our food and finishing our meal took much longer than it should have. When the food finally came out, some of it was disappointing. The taco shells tasted stale and the meat was dry. The enchiladas were actually pretty good and probably the highlight of the meal, but the pricing didn't really match the portion sizes. Charging $19.50 for three small street tacos feels excessive for what you get. Overall, between the dry food and high prices, I don't feel like the experience matched the cost. I hope they can improve their food quality and overall service because it has potential. read more

I've attempted to come here twice now. Both times my party has been ignored and decided to go elsewhere. Recently stopped by this past Saturday around 2:30/3pm. Was seated outside. Wasn't super busy. The server for the area we were seated walked by us twice. No "welcome in", no asking if we were ready to order, no waters. Nothing. We left after 20 minutes. Can't say anything about the food, but not impressed with the service at all. Wouldn't give them another shot. We checked out this spot during Arizona Restaurant Weekend and it was such a great experience from start to finish. The prix fixe menu had a solid variety -- something for everyone -- and everything we tried was full of flavor and beautifully presented. It was also super affordable, which made the whole night feel like such a great deal for the quality. They also have a great cocktail selection, which was a fun surprise! Creative, well-balanced drinks that actually matched the vibe of the menu. Big win there. But honestly, the highlight of the afternoon was our waiter, Eric. He was so much fun, super attentive, and consistently made sure we (and the tables around us) were taken care of without ever feeling rushed. It's rare to see someone handle a busy time with such ease and energy; he really made the afternoon extra enjoyable. Being a late night person, I love places that have reverse happy hour with discounted drinks and food. This Salt Tacos y Tequila location is located at SanTan Village in Gilbert. A group of us were in the area and came here for late night food and drinks. Even for a weekday, the atmosphere here was lively. Salt Tacos serves traditional Mexican food with a modern twist. They are most known for their handcrafted margaritas and for having 150 different types of tequila. Reverse happy hour (8pm - Close) has discounted food including half off select appetizers and $20 almost bottomless margaritas, mimosas, palomas and Bloody Marys with purchase of food. Salt Tacos also has a special menu for Taco Tuesdays and brunch. We got the Macho Nacho which ended up being a beast of an appetizer and way more food than we could handle. I do love the Dia De Los Muertos decorations everywhere. Cool place to hang out if you are looking for some late night eats. read more
