For a chain restaurant you can expect to find consistent tasting food and drinks. They have the best fried mushrooms I've ever tasted. Their crab cakes are also delicious, as is their lemon drop martinis. Steaks are flavorful, cold, crisp salads, good chicken taco soup, and a delicious rich cheesecake for dessert. Quick service and friendly staff. Can get very loud, but still a nice place to eat. read more

This place was the worst place I ever been in. If you have all day to wait for a server to take your odder even if it's a drink while you wait than this is the place for you. When I arrived I was taken to my table. After I was sat down. I waited close to 15min. Before any one came to take my drink odder. I never had to walk out of a resterant before.The funny thing is when I got up to leave the server that was going to serve me passed my table about 6 times before they came up to me. This place is always hit or miss for me. I know of a few good servers there but always manage to get the ones who are forgetful and our drinks take too long, not because of the bartenders. The spinach dip mostly consisted of spinach and artichokes. There is no sauce to it but I guess some people may like that sort of thing. My wife and I had dinner with our close friend who had been craving a steak dinner. I got to choose the venue...I love Saltgrass steaks! Our friend ordered a medium-well filet. Unfortunately, they brought out a medium-rare filet. Ok...no problem. Everyone was very polite and they took up the steak and back to the grill. But then our server didn't return, nor did the steak. Finally, after about 15 minutes we asked to speak to the manager. But that didn't happen, either. Our server finally returned (we were seated next to the kitchen entrance...a tough location to miss). Happy Hour is from 5-7 and half off on appetizers you cant beat that! One of my favorite restaurants around Beaumont they have a good selection of foods and their meats are cut A-1 to perfection! For an appetizer i would strongly suggest the Avocado Crab Stack and the Seared Ahi Tuna!!! Two words awesome and YUMMY!!! There seem to be 2 levels of chain steak houses. You have your high end places like Ruth Chris, Morton's, and Shula's. Then there are your Outbacks, Lone Star's, Texas Roadhouse, etc. Saltgrass technically falls into that second category but they are on the top end of that. I'd say it's the best among the casual steakhouses. I've been to this location at least a dozen times and every time I leave happy, full and not broke. They always start you off with some free bread that is a nice perk. I try to not eat to much as I can get full on just this. My favorite app is the beef embrochette. It's not on the menu but the chicken and shrimp version are. It's basically beef tips wrapped in bacon on top of grilled onions and peppers tossed in bbq sauce. Soooooo good. The steaks are USDA Choice which are less expensive than Prime but every steak I have had here is perfect. Always cooked medium rare like I ask and always tender. I've never had issues with fat or gristle. The grilled chicken and sausage are both good as well. The other good thing is Saltgrass gives you a side with your steak unlike the "higher quality" steakhouses. The service at this location is always on point and the food is always consistent. When I am in Beaumont, I usually make my way to this place. read more

Get the BBQ shrimp! It is grilled shrimp stuffed with cream cheese and a strip of jalapeño, wrapped in bacon and glazed with a brown sugar BBQ sauce. The surf and turf was wonderful with the 10 oz. ribeye and BBQ shrimp. I noticed that my friends who ordered the steak medium rare received a thinner steak than me. I guess it was because I ordered mine black and blue, so they had to give me a thicker cut. Steak was cooked perfectly and had a nice flavor to it. Always good food and the service is great. We went for lunch during the work week and as always were not disappointed, Our waiter was on top of it without being overly annoying and fussy about us. I had the chicken fried steak...it was cook perfect and seasoned properly. Wife had the beef tips with mashed potatoes and mushrooms in a nice gravy. All was cooked as ordered and served hot and tasty. If your looking for a quick bite to eat or taking a client out to lunch or just a team building luch I recommend this place every time! I've been to this particular location a time or two in the past and no problems. On this occasion, I was working weeks of 12 hour shifts and had no time to cook. Tried to call in take out and was left on hold. Called back, and was told the bar would take it but they were 'very busy'. No one ever came. So I drove there and went in and wouldn't you know, they were in fact NOT busy (thanks Taylor). After taking my order, the bar keep proceeded to talk to another patron at the bar whilst I'm waiting on my drink. Needless to say by this point I'm extremely unimpressed and not willing to visit again anytime soon for the price of the mediocre food there, I guess I was out of line expecting better service. We visited Saltgrass Steakhouse for our son's birthday with a party of ten. Using the call-ahead seating our table was ready and waiting when we arrived. We were seated quickly, and began a wonderful evening experience with our waiter BJ. If he is not the trainer for the restaurant he should be! Even with ten people talking and having a great time he kept the pace perfect. Choices were described fully, questions answered, and each course for appetizer to desert delivered flawlessly and with respect for my son's wishes that his birthday not be made a fuss over. Everyone truly enjoined their meal - but BJ made it an experience.Food was excellent, portions generous, and there was no push to get us out the door and recover the tables. This is one of my favorite places to eat. I am new to this area. We made a couple of trips from California to Lumberton to find a house. We made sure that on every trip, our last night was spent having dinner at Saltgrass. I love the New York Strip steak. And I suggest trying the cheesecake. If you are full, take it home. It's huge....three people could share it. The service has always been wonderful. And I don't care, I would wait an hour if I had to....it's worth it!! We arrived to Saltgrass fairly late on a Saturday night. There was still a 30-45 minute wait even at almost 9pm. It was surprising but it was a very small restaurant once you got inside. Once seated there was a very long wait for our server. We spent most of the night waiting in fact. She wasn't very prompt in service and from the looks of it she only had a couple of tables to wait on. I can only hope that she was just new, which is a high possibility since the restaurant itself was only a month old. I ordered the chopped sirloin and asked for mushrooms and onions but no sauce. I got it with sauce. It tasted okay so I didn't complain, but it was also well done instead of medium well. my date had the new york strip and a baked sweet potato side. He wasn't a fan of the potato but the steak was good, he said. it wasn't the best steak we had in Beaumont but overall the food was above average, the service and the wait not so much. read more

This is a smaller version of Saltgrass. Since this is new to Beaumont it is the most crowded place to eat. We sat at one of two bar tables that were first come, first serve. This was a mistake. We sat fast, got drinks fast and waited and waited and waited. I expect to wait, but this got to the point where we had to ask for our dinner salads and then ask again about our entrees. Once the food came out it was delicious. I craved tender meat and ordered the pot roast. It was awesome, the mashed potatoes were awesome, the green beans were so salty the looked like shriveled slugs. I will definately go back and have some drinks and food. We've been in the area for a few months and have had less than okay experiences dining. However I can say that Saltgrass is the 1st place that we really enjoyed. A great meal, great service and great atmosphere. The steaks are phenomenal and the variety of shrimp you can get is unbelievable. Each time I come here to eat, I always leave thinking: "why do I cook steak at home again?" because the chain of places ALWAYS has consistency; no matter which one we visit. The menu has many options to satisfy most tastes including children. I ordered the porterhouse of course as I usually do...rare push. It came out more towards medium. The server asked me if I wanted to send it back but I said no. She responded "Sir, you ordered the portrhouse, send it back!". So I did and promptly received a new one..just right. Their special steak seasoning is not too bad. Steak was relatively tender at this temperature. Order the steakhouse fries (probably comed from excess baked from the night before) extra crispy.
