I don't think it was his choice, but he enjoyed the camaraderie of our large group back in mid September 2025. Helena was our server. She was very friendly and attentive. My complaint was about my chicken fried steak. The steak was deceiving because while it looked huge on my plate, most of the outer edges comprised of thick, greasy batter. The steak was also overcooked, yet, edible. The rest of my entree comprised of green beans which were good, but they could work on their plating. Our party of 10 spent $213.48. Currently, Saltgrass has a policy of "A suggested gratuity of 15%-20% is customary. The amount of gratuity is always discretionary." That's kind of cool. Not my go-to restaurant, but a decent family-oriented sit-down place without long waits. read more

This is a fairly standard version of the steak house chain. Usually the food and service are ok. Today however I sat down at the bar and wished I hadn't. My order was messed up a couple ways. Ultimately serving me an undercooked steak. The bartender/server Renee couldn't care less about me and never asked how I was doing g or if the food was up to far. We just got back from an amazing Thanksgiving dinner! It was above and beyond our expectations Our server, Nadia, was the best! Not stressed, efficient, kept our drinks filled and took time to interact with us. The manager, Julio, was very nice and clearly has that restaurant running smoothly! Kudos to the chef and kitchen staff for their cooking and for keeping the kitchen running efficiently under the holiday time! I left my phone at the table, we went in and Julio already had the phone and quickly returned it to me. The food! The salads were excellent especially the strawberry /spinach ! We had the option of soup or salad. Oh my gosh the holiday dinner of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole and cranberry were amazing. The turkey was perfectly cooked! Moist, tender and generous slices. They offered food from their regular menu which was quite a surprise as well The people next to us had the prime rib which looked perfect cooked. Pricing was excellent Under $25 for each dinner. The spinach/strawberry salad was extra but the regular dinner salad was included. Ordered take out directly from the restaurant on 8/8/2026. Arrived at the restaurant to pick up the food per the time. Waited 30 minutes for the food - was told by the hostess the food was delayed due to large parties in the restaurant. I was not the only person waiting for takeout. Food finally brought out. Took it home (5 minute drive). All the food was cold. It should not have been cold. Pretty sure that means it was made and just sitting. Thanks Saltgrass. read more

Had reservations at 11:45 for 14, but the tables weren't set up. So we waited in the lobby for 10+ minutes. When we were finally seated the waiter asked what beverages we wanted to start. We said water first and foremost. So he hustled off to get 14 ice waters, and carafes. (Water should have been on the table to start with). We were ready to order and while a majority of us ordered just soup and salad, several ordered full entrees. I telephoned the front of the house and asked where our food was at 12:50. Then the manager got involved and things picked up. Several returned their soup because they were lukewarm. Otherwise, as always, the food was delicious. Love this place always clean, great service and amazing food. It's a must. Ordered Chicken fried steak and when I got it it was about the size of an OK sign made with your fingers. The center of the hole it makes is all meat plus it had a lot of crust around it leading you to believe it was an OK size. What a rip off. Called manager and all he said was sorry no comp no nothing. This was my very first time eating at Saltgrass Steakhouse and let me just say that this is one of the best experiences I have had at a restaurant! The food is fresh and hot and absolutely delicious, Gabby who was our server provided us with the most excellent service, she was very attentive and very informative as well as knowledgeable with the menus. As far as the ambiance, the atmosphere was inviting, welcoming, and for a little while although I knew I was in Texas I had forgotten that we were in Lubbock. Came in for dinner. Service was very prompt and immediate from the time I walked in until the time I walked out. My waitress attending my table checked up on me at least 5-6 times and they were pretty busy inside. I ended up ordering a porterhouse with a baked potato and side salad. Salad was loaded with croutons and fresh and had exact amount of the dressing as you would want. Felt pretty loaded with items to make it very enjoyable. The Steak came out exactly as I ordered it; medium rare and smothered. To be perfectly honest; I wasn't impressed with the "smothered" option. In fact I ended up pushing it to the side and didn't really eat with my steak. Overall steak was cooked and seasoned perfect and enjoyed every bite to the end. The bake potato was loaded with that good butter. The perfectly cooked potato caused the butter to get foamy and melt perfect into the potato making it one of my favorites at a place to eat. Had a Dallas blonde beer with it and enjoyed my visit. I definitely would come back if I visit Lubbock TX again. read more

We have eaten at this location before, and it was always a good place to eat. Tonight, we went with a large group for a wedding rehearsal dinner. We sat in their private room, as we had a fairly large party. From the time we walked in, the service was amazing. The manager greeted us at the door, and they showed us to the room. Reanna and Tosh took amazing care of our group. Took drink orders quickly, and then promptly took all of our food orders. Drinks were refilled quickly, and salads/appetizers come out in just a few minutes. The steaks and other entrees also came out quickly. Cooked perfectly, and served at the right temperature. Desserts were very large portions, but looked amazing. The thing that I have to come back to again is the great service we received. I ordered the ribeye. It was thin, but cooked properly. It seemed to have a fake smoke flavor. Just an under current of smoke, but in a bad way. The Mac n cheese was ok. It was creamy, but again there was a fake smoke flavor. The potato soup was not good. It wasn't creamy. It had that fake smoke smell. Do not order this. They gave bread and a sweet butter along with dinner. It was good if it was hot, not as good later on when it cooled.
