Came back again right after my convocation ceremony. The salads have changed a little. Lettuce pieces are larger and a bit more unwieldy. I ordered the Pat's Ribeye and a side of the fried onions. Ribeye was flavorful and enough for a second meal. Everything would have been perfect if not for our waiter constantly taking our plates before we were finished. My favorite restaurant overall in all of Norman. Definitely pricey but the portions and quality is consistent and delicious. My personal favorite is the queso fresco, but haven't had anything I didn't like. read more

Came here after purchasing a new car, waitress was very helpful and food was perfected. Daughter ate all of her, which she never does. Steak was cooked exactly to order and country fried steak tasted absolutely delicious. Wish they lived closer to home, definitely be returning. read more

We came here with a group of about 15 for dinner. Even though we didn't have a reservation & the restaurant was close to empty, it took about 20 minutes for us to get a table. We waited for our food for another 45 minutes or so, although everyone seemed pleased with their food & the way their steaks were cooked. Our waitress almost immediately went into a pitch about a pay-to-get loyalty card (though to be fair, it seems required based on overhearing the same at other tables from other wait staff). I chose my sides based on her advice, and in what perhaps should not have been a surprise, she had recommended the up-sell (more expensive) side items without mentioning the additional charge. The scotch I ordered ($11, though the exact same can be found at McNellies for $7.50. Irrelevant maybe, as I paid for it all the same, but worth noting; unlike steak, straight alcohol is the same no matter where it's from, so a $4.50 price difference raises the eyebrow.) came out more water than scotch; it seems the bartender took "a splash of water" to mean "two parts water, one part scotch." While the steak (a t-bone) was flavourful, well cooked, and brilliant to behold, it was about as stringy and difficult to cut as one from Waffle House, as if it was the same quality cut, just thicker and better prepared. We were charged for the garlic bread that came with our seafood fondu, and while the manager fixed that, had I not noticed the bill would have been higher, as would have been the tip (by percentage). The grilled asparagus ($2 up-charge for six pieces) had been rung up for double that, which I again had to have the manager correct, and again, would have driven up the tip had I not been attentive in checking it before payment. After looking at the menu while waiting on the final, fixed, bill, everything our waitress advised us was "her favourite" was a convenient additional charge as well. All of that said, our waitress was still very attentive! She made sure our drinks were full, checked on us regularly without being annoying or interrupting conversation, and always had a smile and a laugh. I would still tell friends and family to eat here for the food and in hopes of a better, more honest wait staff, but I wouldn't advise this as a place to take a date, unless they enjoy seeing you talk to (or rather, get brushed off in the politest possible way by) the manager. read more

Celebrated a birthday tonight 8 adults and 3 children 2 yrs of age and younger. Our waitress Taylor was wonderful and on top of it the entire meal. Everyone in the party enjoyed their meal and it was prepared as we ordered it. We all shared two desserts the pumpkin cheesecake and the chocolate cake and they were all to die for. I must add not just Taylor provided us with great care but the entire staff were great. I think some of the entrees were on the high side price wise but the food was good..and everyone enjoyed the food..so as the matriarch of the family that is all that matters to me is that my family enjoys themselves. read more

I can only speak for the burger although I heard the steak and wedge salad is delicious too! The burger was really good and seasoned to perfection . Well worth a try if you're in Sooner country. It's a chain with nothing in particular to brag about. I think the steaks may be better at Western Sizzlin. Service is decent and the restaurant is predictable. Norman offers a variety of other local restaurants and chains that might be a better value. read more

Absolutely amazing meal. We started with the Spinach Artichoke dip and it was superbly done. I order the Filet medium rare with the stuffed BBQ shrimp. The filet was brought out rare but they had no problem fixing it quickly. The manager even brought an extra baked potato to the table. The filet was like butter in your mouth. My husband had the lunch Gulf coast strip and shrimp rare and it was perfection. The waiter was great. I opened the menu and there was some kind of spludge on it. I never received bread. After I finished my meal I noticed there was a piece of what was identified to be cheese in my butter container. The cheese did not come from me. The manager was notified and with an attitude took 5 bucks off my meal. I didn't care about the money but was offended by his attitude. He needs to step up his game. Everything from the ribs to the shrimp would have been just as good at Golden coral. Truly poor at best.

I have eaten here a couple of times, service continues to be an issue for me. The wait staff is serving tables in multiple areas and hinders the attention they need to give to each table. This trip I ordered a grilled chicken and shrimp with a side of asparagus, i waited and waited and the waitress came by 3 times to tell me the food was coming out and about 10 minutes later she finally delivered my plate the chicken was cooked okay, the shrimp were so small the cook hid them under pieces of onion, I would have hid them as well they were tiny decent flavor but to small for this type of plate they would have been well suited for salad shrimp. Not what I expect when I am sold on a chicken and shrimp combo. Saltgrass normally does a good job in other locations, I would fire the manager here as he sat in the bar the whole time flirting with someone he new well. He needs to check on what is going on with all the tables in his restaurant and less attention on one person, he need to support his staff better than this. This place used to be great. We went there many times from about 2007-2011. Steaks cooked to order, staff that seemed to care, and reasonable prices. Our last three visits here (2013 and 2014) have all ended with some level of disappointment. The first time it happens, you think "no problem, they are always so good." The second time, you say "hmm...this is concerning. We'll wait awhile before we come back." And now with the third failure in a row in 2014, we probably will not go back. On both of the last two visits, we politely told our waiter about the issue, and got the standard "would you like us to remake it?". On both visits, the food was tolerable, although incorrect, we declined the offer to wait again for the food. In the first case, both steaks were clearly overcooked. On the second visit, my wife and I had steaks that seemed cooked for each other. On both visits, a manager came by and seemed stunningly apathetic about the issue. Not rude by any means, but very indifferent. Unless I hear that they have cleaned house and started over with a new staff, I will not be going back. read more

We have a Landry's loyalty card and eat at Saltgrass locations in many states, but the Norman, Ok location consistently has the best steak and shrimp of all of the locations we visit. The steaks are always flavorful and cooked perfectly, and the shrimp beats all the other locations we've tried. It has become our favorite restaurant. read more

I asked the waitress to substitute the potatoes for a side salad, you'd have thought I was asking the impossible. Steak tips with Brussels sprouts, mushroomS. I used my only paper napkin I had to clean off some sort of gravy from the mushrooms.. gross. Brussels sprouts are round aren't they? Idk what they did to these things but it was awful and the steak was 5 tiny bites that was also smothered in this disgusting gravy, let not mention that 3 of these tiny things were griddle only, cleaned them off best I could too.. bla!! Won't darken this door again. 40 bucks for lunch that looked like it was off the buffet somewhere.. oh wait. A buffet would be better too. read more

We stopped in on Saturday afternoon and had the lunch version 6 oz. sirloin (Wagon Boss Top Sirloin). They charged extra for a baked potato as a side. The price per plate was 14.99 plus an extra 2.49 for the baked potato. We also had drinks and an appetizer. The steaks were tough, my drink wasn't as expected and I sent it back to be fixed and it didn't even look or taste like they changed it when I got it back. We ordered the steaks medium, one arrived well done and one arrived rare. They were both tough and we only ate a few bites, not even half. When we mentioned how tough the steaks were, they offered a weak apology and considering we spent over 70.00, didn't even offer a discount on the meal. They did offer to save us a seat on our next visit, whatever that means. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE EAT AT SALTGRASS, CERTAINLY NEVER IN NORMAN, OK. . We will continue to eat at TEXAS ROADHOUSE where we can get a 6 oz. sirloin steak with 2 sides (no extra charges) for 9.99 a plate. The service is good, the food is great, and we have witnessed how much they value their customers and will rectify any problems with something more than an apology. We have never had a bad meal at any Texas Roadhouse location. read more

I went to Cattlemans the day before (I Love Steak) And the Saltgrass Ribeye was fantastic. The salad was very dissapointing. (I think it came from a bag or was old) The bread was nothing to brag about either. But the Steak was spot on. Ordered rare with asparagus. The staff was attentive even though I ordered a 24 oz steak that was priced "market value" meaning that they determine the price daily. I ordered the steak and a drink, then i ordered the asparagus, the bartender asked if i still wanted the asparagus because it was $1.99? LOL I never asked the market value of the steak!!!! Salad was good, but there was some romaine mixed in with the side sald, which is unusual. Also, there is a national warning out right now about romaine lettuce, but the waiter did not know where it came from (Arizona is the source of the problem). I ordered a chopped steak. There are three on the menu and I clearly stated that I did not want the gravy and onions, pointing to it on the menu. I also ordered it well done. It came out with gravy and onions, so they took it back. I was prepared to wait for another one, but he came right back with it. They had scraped it off and turned it over, instead of cooking a new steak. No apology at all was forthcoming. It was also very pink inside, more so than my wife's medium-well sirloin. I absolutely could not eat it. I waited forever to grab him to ask for some A1 to help cover the taste, but it did not work. I gave him a good tip anyway, just because I know what it is like to struggle to pay your bills. They seemed to be poorly managed. As we were about to leave, he brought me a drink refill. Naturally, it sat there full because it was way too late. At some restaurants, a manager will stop by to ask how things are going, but not here. Buyer beware. read more

This restaurant is a joke the manager at this facility cares nothing about customers. My family & I waited an hour in a half for a table. Which wouldn't have been an issue except they had six empty tables & refused to seat us. We tried to call in reservations beforehand but the staff refused that request as well. We have a Landrys Card which is supposed to allow you preferred seating but instead the hostess, manager & staff laughed at the fact they could make us wait, surprising, but yes it did happen. We would have left then but it was my birthday & my husband refused based on the fact I have went there for my birthday the last few years. The food was horrible, the soup luke warm, our steak was well done, we had ordered medium rare, the french fries cold. Not to mention the long Island ice tea ordered was awful - no alcohol was in this drink but we did pay for it. Our bill was over $400.00 and we left there & went to Burger King, that is sad, thanks Norman Salt Grass for the worst birthday ever. read more
