Probably one of the best things about our experience was our waiter, Cody. He was very attentive, polite and extremely efficient. We ordered the bacon wrapped quail for our appetizer. I was surprised at how delicious it was. My partner ordered the ribeye and I ordered the prime rib, both 16 ounces. They were cooked to perfection! They were also way too much food and we are some heavy eaters, so we got two meals out of it. One of the things I found interesting was the brussel sprouts were shredded. This location continuously has a chaotic atmosphere. The staff is typically lost and disorganized. Poor communication truly exists, therefore, poor service. There are too many other dining options in Rockwall now, so this place is now off my list. read more

I really love this particular Saltgrass. It's nice that it's so close to home, but it's even nicer that it's so good. It's also a big bonus that the service is always impeccable. We eat there once a month or so and tonight they even remembered us. That's either good customer service or we go there way too much. In for lunch, the place was busy but not crowded, we were seated promptly. The food was cooked correctly and seasoned well, drinks were kept full. 5 stars Our waitress was very attentive but not overwhelming, 5 stars. Our appetites took 35 minutes from time ordered to arrive, other tables seated when we were had started on their main courses. 15 minutes more for our soup and salads. The other tables had now finished eating and paid their checks. Another 15 minutes wait for our main course to arrive. Over an hour wait from the time ordered for lunch to arrive! 1 star. Not sure why our food took so long when clearly the kitchen was capable of producing the food items in a reasonable amount of time. Only condolences from the "manager" was sorry it took so long. I have visited this place various times and all times I have had an average experience. The price you pay for the food is pricey. The food itself is okay for a steak house, however I have gone at better steak houses before. The atmosphere is nice and cozy. Overall, the experience is mediocre. read more

Great food but as with any place near the highway, park where you can see your vehicle out the window, or better yet sit on the patio. Went out after an awesome meal and the truck was gone. This was our first time to Salt Grass and was pleasantly surprised! The wait was a little lengthy; however, we enjoyed a lump crab stack in the bar. It was de-lish! and fresh! Perfect for a summer evening. They offered a special for Father's Day that consisted of a wedge salad with fresh Parmesan cheese, fillet stacked with a crab cake and garlic mash potatoes. First time to a Salt Grass Steakhouse. We were not dissapointed. The wait was crazy, but it was Friday night and grad night in the area. Our hostess sat us in the smallest table in the restaurant. We had to ask our server to move....it was just too uncomfortable and tight....they did so willingly and graciously. So onto the food. We skipped appetizers, hubby ordered a drink. Said it was a good pour and prwletty tasty - Whisky Smash. Our waiter Daniel was awesome and had some great recommendations for first timers and on the ball for our whole night. Top notch service. Stakes were prepared to perfection, the blue cheese dressing is to die for and we had to skip dessert because dinner was so filling. Hubby ordered the Tbone with grilled veggies and a loaded baked potato. I odered the steak and cake....which was a filet served with a crab cake. I'm gluten free and came here because 1) the have a nice GF menu and 2) it was right next door to my hotel. Food was great! They only thing I wasn't totally thrilled about was the service. I sat at a table in the bar and it took a good 5-7 minutes for someone to come greet me and ask me what I wanted to drink. Service was very slow, it took my food a long time to come out. The staff is friendly. Management seems to stand more behind the seens and watch what is going on then acknowledging each table. I think we generally only see a manager when our Landry card is being returned to us. Food is great and pricing is very reasonable for a steak house. The grilled chicken and steaks are always very tendor and juicy. I love that they do not charge extra for loaded baked potatoes. The ranch dressing is amazing. My kids have to get their own loaf of bread and butter! Drinks from the bar are overpriced. Last few mixed drinks I had you could not taste any alcohol. We are Landry members so the extra perks are pretty amazing. All restaurants should have special perks for frequent diners. read more

We have eaten here for lunch & dinner many times. The service is always so slow. Fri night dinner date with my hubby. Got there at 520, seated right away so that was nice. No one waited on us for 10 min. I had to ask a server walking by whos our waiter? It took 2 hours to get our food & 20 min to get our check. Seems our waiter had 2 different areas he was working. I hung up and called back and let them know that I had been holding for a while to place an order to go but that no one was answering when they transferred the call. Food was delicious, server was super nice but sort of scatterbrained. He messed up our drinks, apps and salad. Then he charged us for two apps instead of one. Despite this, I liked him and he was very kind and had good manners, so it didn't bother us. The smothered steak with stuffed shrimp was superb, the salads were good as well as the prime rib and sweet potato. The bread and butter was also excellent. My sangria was perfect. I managed to pop into this joint because it was the only place that was open on Labor Day! The first thing that caught my eye about the Saltgrass Steak House is that the majority of the people who go here are very LARGE! I mean 230+lbs was the average weight of the male customer!!!! If big people eat here it has to be good! I ordered a combo plate that had ribs, steak, and shrimp! The ribs were very tender and moist while the steak was super juicy. The best part of the meal was the bread! I'm not sure how they make the bread but it's awesome! It was warm, slightly crusty, and served with a honey whipped butter spread that melted on contact with the bread. I would definitely go here again just for the bread. read more

We eat at Saltgrass often and have never had a bad experience. As a person with Celiac Disease sometimes I can be difficult when it comes to gluten free meals as I'm always a little scared I will get ill afterwards but Saltgrass really takes of me and I appreciate that more than they know. I also love that they offer gluten free bread and butter along side the regular bread and butter that's placed on the table when you walk in. I hate to write negative reviews but I feel I must in this case. My husband and I ordered a lunch menu 6 oz sirloin, but apparently our server thought we said 10 ounce ribeye....Another server brought out our lunch. Neither one of us even thought that we were given the wrong order. We were starving because it was 3:00 and no one even approached us for 15 minutes. Then the nicest server just stopped by our table to see if we had been helped. When the bill came and my husband saw they had made a mistake in our order, we asked to speak to a manager. Carlos the manager came over to our table and said that our ticket had already been rung up and we would have to pay it....He is the worst manager, he said that the food had been eaten so we had to pay for it. We will never go back to the Rockwall location as long as he is still there!! What happened to customer service?? By the way, they were the worst ribeyes we ever had!! read more

My family and I went to this location for a birthday dinner tonight for my father in law. I had called last week to make reservations for 430pm. I had inquired about decorating if I came early and they said that would be no problem. We arrived at the restaurant around 330pm. They told us they weren't ready for us and we had to wait. This was fine with us at first as we were really early. After about 15-20mins of waiting, the hostess came over and asked what decorating we were going to do. I said we just had a couple of things for the table and then balloons to tie to the chair. She said okay and walked away. A few mins later a lady in a blazer walked up to us. I assumed she was the manager but she never introduced herself as such. She was letting us know it was going to be another 30mins before the table was ready for us as there were two parties already seated in the area they were going to put us. I then said there must have been some confusion about decorating bc I specifically asked when I made the reservations. She said decorating was fine but most people don't show up an hour early, only 15mins early. She said we would have the 15 mins beforehand to get to the table. 420 comes around and we still haven't been seated. There are 4 waiters and waitresses just standing and chatting at the hostess stand. I walk up and ask when our table was going to be ready. One of them said they were cleaning the table right then and we would be seating momentarily. 425pm, still haven't been seated and all of the 4 still standing around talking. I walk to her again as the area we were told we would be is now clean but we haven't been told anything yet. The hostess then says the party just left and they are cleaning and then pointed to a different area. I asked why we were sitting where we originally were told and she said the 2nd party never got up and then the other table was for 12 people, us being only a party of 8. I said communicating this with us would have been preferred as we had been about two feet away from them this whole time. My husband then steps in upset asking how we had a reservation and told we could get a time to decorate and it's almost the time the rest of the party will get there, mind you this is a surprise bday dinner. The hostess becomes pretty rude at this point and said she just got there and didn't know we didn't know and also a waiter doesn't want to waste their time for an hour at a table waiting on people, it not being cost effective. So that right there put me over the edge. How dare her say that to us, as 4 of the 5 people that were already there were buying multiple drinks from the bar. We weren't just sitting around taking up her space. I understand their protocol but the whole time we had been waiting we haven't said anything to them or being rude to them at all. We finally get seated AFTER 430 and then while we were mid setting up our decorations, our birthday person walked in. So that diminished the surprise aspect. And then our food came. My husbands, mine and another family members mashed potatoes were cold and another plate of chicken and shrimp were cold. My steak wasn't hot either. You could definitely tell our food had just been sitting for awhile before it was brought to us. We got the mashed potatoes sent back for some fresh ones. All and all it was a horrible experience and we won't be back again. I had wanted to speak with the manager but The dinner lasted almost two hours and we were ready to get out of there. I have never been treated this way and especially considering our tables tab was over $200. I do not recommend going here. read more

We went to Saltgrass on a slow Sunday night. Service started off a little shaky as our server couldn't get our drink order right. But things quickly picked up and it was an enjoyable meal. We ordered the rattlers and wrapped quail for the table. These were crowd pleaders! Dinner was delicious, as usual because let's be honest...Saltgrass doesn't disappoint! It was Friday July 2 and I was planning on treating myself to a nice meal. I ordered my meal over 2 hours in advance through Grubhub. Grubhub delivered as scheduled. I spent over $60.00 for cold food. The steak had butter that had not melted, cold mash potatoes, cold shrimp and cold broccoli. The Cesar salad I expected to be cold, but it was also stale. The manager tries to make it right by free desert but holy crap just over 2 hours. The shrimp my daughter ordered half was cold half was warm. My prime rib was good but our server forgot to order my other daughters meal, so since we didn't want to wait any longer then we already had, we just split one dinner.
