My fiancé and I had an unforgettable first experience at Saltgrass Steak House in The Colony. We arrived in Dallas much later than expected after our American Airlines flight lost power and left us sitting on the tarmac for over an hour. By the time we reached our hotel, it was 9:00 p.m., and we were exhausted and hungry. We walked into Saltgrass around 9:05, just as they were closing. I asked, "Are you closed?" The manager said yes--but immediately invited us to have a seat. I tried to decline because I didn't want to keep anyone late, but she warmly insisted: "No, please. We want you here." I wish I could remember the manager's name because she was incredibly kind. She and the entire staff treated us like royalty. Our waitress, Stef, was an absolute sweetheart and took wonderful care of us. The food was amazing, but somehow the service was even better. If I hadn't known Saltgrass was a chain restaurant, I never would have guessed it. The warmth, care, and personal attention made it feel like a beloved local restaurant welcoming old friends. This was our first visit to a Saltgrass--and our first time in Dallas. We had been in Texas for less than an hour, and this wonderful team showed us that Texas hospitality is very real. We've eaten at numerous Salt Grass Steakhouse restaurants over the years, and have always had a very good experience. Last night the filets we ordered medium came out pretty close to rare and were over-salted. The woman in the booth behind us sent her filet back because it was undercooked. Management needs to check into this. On the positive side, we've never had poor service at any Saltgrass restaurant, and last night was no exception. Our server was attentive without hovering, and efficient without rushing us. Plenty of parking here. I recommend Saltgrass and this and any other of their locations. read more

Service was friendly and quick. Food wise the brussel sprouts were amazing. Probably some of the best I've had. They had the nice browning on the outside with some great flavors. The steak was just meh. It was cooked to the right temperature but was still tough and didn't taste the best. This was a trifecta of bad experiences. My wife and I went there this past Saturday for lunch. The service started out well but quickly became inattentive and eventually nonexistent. I ordered the Salmon Oscar, and the salmon was badly overcooked. The lump crab meat helped make it a little less dry, but it was still a major disappointment. My wife's tenderloin bites were so over-seasoned that she only ate about half of them. After we finished eating, we waited at least 15 minutes before our server came back. While we were waiting for our check, I watched him spend several minutes chatting with another server instead of checking on his tables. When the check finally arrived, I noticed I had been charged for club soda. To be clear, this wasn't a bottle of Topo Chico or Pellegrino--it was club soda from the bar's soda gun with a lime. Really? My wife and I eat out frequently, and being charged for fountain club soda never fails to leave a bad impression. I was already paying a premium for a poorly cooked piece of salmon, so adding another $3.79 for carbonation was just the icing on the cake. In your quest for the dollar, you seem to have lost sight of the bigger picture. This was a really poor showing all around. read more

In general, it's real hard to understand how a couple could sit at a table in the middle of the main dining room, where the majority of the traffic is to site for 20 minutes without being greeted, drink orders, or anything beyond a hostess interaction. It's the most basic component of any hospitality business. Having to actively get out of your seat to solicit service is shameful. We've been longtime customers, members of the loyalty program, and regulars. This location has lost its charm. read more

Honestly have never left a bad review til now. Just left and its been about an hour and a half. We literally got our food to go because of how long it took. Apparently the waiter forgot our order, so we just waited and waited.. Would have been more tolerable if we didn't have our 1 year old waiting to eat.. I left my credit card there a week ago. Talked to a nice gentleman over the phone. He told me my card was in the safe. Just needed my ID to pick it up. Went in a week later. Told the host my card was here. Waited 20minutes. Finally, the manager "Karen" came out showed her my ID. Still waiting I got up ask the host what the problem was. She went to the back came out and said "Karen" didn't find it. She never came back out. I'm upset knowing it's in the safe. I left called back she never came to the phone. Bread definitely not fresh or even warm. Caesar salad very mediocre (didn't even finish it) and came with a whopping 3, yes 3 tiny croutons. The bartender was very nice but didn't even ask me to cut my steak and check for doneness. After cutting it, it was def Med Rare Not the Med I ordered. She did take it back to get it cooked properly. However when it came back they had given me a steak about half of its size and the manager did ask me to cut into it at which point sadly I cut into the largest portion which did appear to be medium cooked. However the other end were overdone in unedible. The tropical sangria was great though as well as the fried onion rings. Sadly I way overpaid to get 2/2 of a edible steak 1 good drink and friend onion tanglers. Nice bar but if you're going to hang your glasses in front of a window I would make sure that they all look clean. We came here for lunch on a Saturday with a few friends. The place was pretty empty so getting a table wasn't an issue. Our server was super nice but also super slow. We started with the bacon wrapped quail. This was very tasty and came on a bed of roasted Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts were shockingly good, especially since I'm not a big fan of them. Our entrees were not that great. I got the grilled shrimp and they were just dry and bland. Barely had any hint of lemony butter. They need some sauce or something to kick up the flavor. I tried a bite of my friends steak and that was flavorless too. Maybe it's just the sirloin but I wasn't impressed. TBH, nothing about the food made me want to come back. It was just average. Steak and shrimp - not sure if it is the cut or maybe it was the way it was cooked? I asked for medium rare and it came out medium done and dry. honestly one of the worse one I had and it was disappointing. The bread and butter for starters is ok. I called to redeem birthday reward with a togo order. Was told by one hostess that I could only redeem with "sit down" meal. Called back and got my girl Hannah. I was well taken care of. Terms and conditions on Landry's website has no exclusions for redemption other than do so prior to 15th day following your birthday month. I was able to venture a little bit outside of bar pickup area. This restaurant was impeccably clean. Always a plus... I appreciated the fact that my meal was fresh and hot. Shout out to Hannah! We had an incredible time here tonight. Our server Josh was the cherry on top of the entire evening. I've been in the industry for over 10 years and his attentiveness, quickness, customer service, and overall welcoming spirit was absolutely incredible. He was constantly checking on us, filling up our drinks, clearing our table, and making sure we had everything we would need. We were nervous to ask to move tables because we didn't want to loose him but he found us a table by the fire which was so warm and cozy. By far the most incredible experience at any steakhouse we've ever experienced. We will definitely be back for the ambiance, food, and especially for Josh, thank you so much again. read more

This is my first time at this location, as I regularly go to Lewisville. I've never had any complaints. But this time, I must say otherwise. The steak was not cooked properly and was also cold. The waiter service was exceptional; I must say, perfect. They need to change the cook. When I returned, he was argumentative and even grabbed the steak incorrectly. When he cooked it a little too long, which wasn't cooked properly, he put it on the plate incorrectly. We love Saltgrass, bust specifically this location is the best! The service is always great, the food is consistently cooked perfectly, and even the salads are nicely dressed. I have to seriously compliment the team at this location for what they did for my husbands surprise birthday dinner though. I called and made reservations for about 22 people, and told them it was a surprise dinner for his birthday. They sat all our guests about 10-15 minutes before we arrived, and had us set up in the private room with a curtain put up, so he would be surprised when he came in. They always do great here, which is why they're our favorite go-to. But this night, they especially went so above and beyond to make his birthday one to remember. The food was great too! My mom and I went to Saltgrass a few days ago for lunch. Once we got there the place wasn't that busy so we were sat right away and even before we put our purses down Josh came by to take our drink order. The service was prompt, correct and Josh himself was so unbelievably kind. He never rushed us but also always made sure we had what we needed. He was super attentive and respectful of our time together and was a wonderful example of what restaurant service should be. Next time you come to this restaurant ask for Josh! Came here with a large group of 13+. We did have a reservation and they were able to sit us right at the time of our reservation. Staff was very friendly and our server was awesome! I don't remember her first name, but her last name was Canidy. She was very polite and made great recommendations. She also kept our drinks full and table cleaned! I loved the atmosphere, very "Texas Steakhouse" vibe. The food was very good, but could use some minor improvements (why I'm giving 4 stars). For my meal, the cajun ribeye, the steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I loved the toppings on it as well. I got a side of loaded potato soup and smoked macaroni and cheese. The soup is some of the BEST potato soup I have ever had. I will be looking online for a copycat recipe very soon. However, the macaroni was dry and unseasoned. I did not get any hints of smoke from it either. One of my daughters got the blackened redfish and absolutely loved it! This was the first time she had ever gotten redfish so she was a little hesitant at first, but said it was a great choice. My other daughter got the cheeseburger and fries and said the fries were wonderful but the cheeseburger was pretty dry. I came here by myself on Saturday. They were naturally busy with an hour wait for a table. I went to the bar and only one seat right next the drink pick up area that looked to be available but their were dirty dishes still there. I stood there for a while to wait for one of the two bartenders to acknowledge me so I could confirm. I finally just had to get there attention by calling out to them to find the seat was available and they got someone to take the first dishes away. I sat down waited patiently as they ran out of straws. Ran out of the right glasses to make old fashions. The manager came by a couple of times. Several people asked the bartenders needed any assistance and they declined. After sitting there for 10 minutes with no offer of a menu, drink, or even water I left. Ridiculous to not even offer a menu in all that time. I decided to spend my money somewhere where they would appreciate my business. read more

The look and style is very much in line with various big chain steakhouses. It's going to have your typical menu, etc. We had a group of nine, and ordered the usual assortment of appetizers, drinks, and steaks. The food was outstanding, and served piping hot. I found the salt and seasoning to be spot on, and the color on my steak was good. Perhaps a deeper sear, but that's only a request. The smoked mac and cheese was my side and was very nice. The service could have been better, with a request for more silverware going unfulfilled (I dropped a fork and had to borrow one from another table), and refills were not timely on those with non-alcoholic beverages. I get that money is a driver, but the designated driver is going to remember more details of the service the next day, unlike the drinker. Lastly, I thought the food delivery lacked a little, with multiple confusions on plates to which person... which steakhouses at this price point usually do better. The food quality made up for some of the service issues, but it could have gone south very quickly. read more
