Our first time trying here. We ordered a calzone, baked ziti and a antipasti salad. First off the salad had lunch meat cut up on it and strewn over top was shredded mozzarella cheese and the flavor of it was bland. It was very boring. The calzone had no flavor from the sauce, the cheese was almost liquified and had no consistency or texture and the ham was in giant pieces. The baked ziti must use the same sauce as the calzone so no flavor there. Now the staff was extremely friendly and maybe we should have just ordered a pizza although one would argue the same sauce would be in the pizza. It seemed overall very popular but just not a good night for us. read more

This place has good pizza by the slice as well as subs, salads, pasta, etc. Always seems to be doing a nice steady business. I just go in to grab a couple slices for lunch or dinner. Their meat lovers is good - typical NYC thin crust pizza. I have not carried out a whole pie because the I grates in my household have a disdain for New York style pizza (if they weren't family I'd disown them). I'd like to try a sub and some pasta sometime soon. The restaurant is small but with nice booths and TVs for watching sports. Worth a visit. read more

After 12 years, we're breaking up Salvio's. I'm all about supporting local businesses and we've been loyal customers for 12 years, but it's over. You're too expensive to have crappy customer service. If an order is going to take twice as long as was estimated (online or over the phone), give the customer a call to let them know you're backed up, rather than just shrugging when they come in to pick it up. You might want to also tell your delivery drivers not to take Nascar turns so that all the toppings don't end up off the pizza. read more

We decided to try this based on recommendations from others. We started with the garlic knots which were herby and delicious and not as greasy as some u get around here. They were served with a delicious tomato sauce. It's always a good sign to me when I taste a good, simple yet yummy sauce and this worked for me. I ordered chicken parmesan and hubby got a Veggie Lovers Sicilian style pizza. Salad that came with my meal (spaghetti was an option) was a good size with banana peppers, olives, onions, cheese and tomatoes on romaine with a nice red wine vinegrette. Big enough to share with my hubby! My chicken had a flavorful breading and was piping hot and yummy. It came with two slices of buttery bread. The tomato "gravy" tasted different than the one that came with the garlic rolls but it was still delish. Hubby's pizza was covered with toppings but a little wet perhaps from the thicker slices of tomato. One slice filled him up but we had planned for leftovers anyways so we were good with that. Yes, they also had beer and dessert but we were stuffed and had to stop . I'd give this 4.5 stars if I could. We will be back! read more

I could give negative stars if I could. Was told 45 min but showed up 2.5 hours later after two phone calls. Also, chicken tenders came burnt and pizza had barely any cheese on it and was very cold! We love Salvio's pizza so we decided to try their pasta. Big mistake. The spaghetti didn't have sauce, meat sauce, but there was only meat and a couple small pieces of tomato. Not a lot of taste. It was like eating dry pasta with hamburger meat. The meatballs we ordered had zero taste. It's as if it's just hamburger rolled into a ball. We expected better. Won't make the same mistake again. I absolutely love this pizza place! I live 15mins away from it and bypass other pizza places to order from here. Salvio's came highly recommended from a professional chef and foodie that I took a class from and I have been coming here ever since. It is a little pricey and it really makes me mad when I order online and try to substitute one topping for another, I'm charged over $2 for the same amount of toppings in the original price. Also, every single time I have ordered from here I have waited MUCH longer than the quoted wait time. One time it was absolutely ridiculous wait time and I asked for a drink while I wait and they charged me for it with no apologies about the extended wait time. The food is 5 star by far, the service is bad! The last couple times I've been there the staff has been very nice and apologetic about the wait time, but they need to improve their wait times! read more

Woohoo for Salvios! As of August 1st I have given up my life long Jersey Girl status to new NC girl. As much as Jersey Mikes will have to do for a sub place I was concerned I'd never find a NJ/NY style authentic pizza. While dropping off dry cleaning next door, I stumbled across Salvios & decided by the smell & my 9 month pregnant belly rumbling to give it a go! For $5.25 there was a lunch special: 1 plain slice, 1 speciality slice & fountain drink. Sign me up! The pizza was perfection!!! Perfect ratio of cheese to sauce, not cheap with the amount or quality of meats on my specialty slice (sausage, pepperoni, peppers, olives & onion), and no disgusting sweet red sauce. I will go further & say I even enjoyed it more than some favorite pizza spots from "home." Thank you, thank you Salvios for meeting my expectation of great pizza. Got caught in a pinch tonight when the restaurant I'd ordered take out at had a larger than usual crowd resulting in me selecting the fastest pizza delivery option available on 919.com. I ordered a large pepperoni and a personal sized supreme, which set me back close to forty bucks with tip. As always with 919dine, the food arrived right on time and hot. The NY style pizzas were a great size and looked really nice. Clearly the veggies on the supreme were hand cut and the crust's texture was obviously not mass produced, frozen and from a vendor. Even the boxes read, "The Best Pizza In The Triangle!" Well... I wanted that to be a fact but it wasn't. All of us agreed the crust itself was incredibly salty. One piece each was all we could eat. The appearance, temperature, toppings, value and even the boxes were fantastic, but the crust really ruined it all. Unless this was a fluke - The result of a hasty prep or whatever reason may be for tossing way too much salt into the dough - And a one time exception, I highly doubt I'll order from Salvio's again. This was horrible i ordered a chicken parm for $10 and it was awful. I got a bunch of crumbled up chicken with a BUNCH of grizzles on it. No breading because it was all crumbles. I have never been so disappointed in a neighborhood eatery. I wish i could post a picture of what they sold to me with a straight face. Today is the 1st time ordering from this restaurant....I LOVE Italian Food. When trying a new Italian restaurant, I rate restaurants based on how my favorites compare to other dishes from other restaurants. My favs are Chicken Parmigiana, sausage roll or stromboli, and HIGHLY acclaimed NY pizza. When trying a new restaurant it takes time but today I ordered Chicken Parmigiana Sandwich and a medium Pepperoni Pizza. If the app will allow me to upload a picture.....I decide to try a slice of pizza on my way home. I opened the box to find almost all of the cheese, the sauce, and of course the pepperoni had slid to the left side of the pizza box. Normally I would have turned around and slung that pizza back in the servers face. Alas, a voice whispers "try it" so I pull over in the Amtrak Depot and ......well let's just say that, they will see me again, but I wont be mad about that pizza tho'. I'm giving them 2 stars because the food was...okay. The service, however, was HORRIBLE. I waited almost an hour for a lukewarm, overpriced and not so great meal. After ordering my food online, I showed up to the restaurant 30 mins later as instructed. I left my car running with my pregnant wife inside so she wouldn't have to walk. When I walked in, it took me a few minutes to be helped, it did appear the shop was running behind. When I spoke to the lady at cashier a few minutes later, I was told that my order was the next one out. She told me it would be brought out to me when it was ready, so I took a seat and waited. Twenty-five minutes later and several additional patrons later, I overhear one woman who walked in 15 mins after me ask about her order. She was told "it was the next order coming out". As I listened to another employee take an order on the phone, I then overhear "give us about 45 minutes please". At this point, it had been 55 minutes since I placed my order. When I inquired again about my order, the lady asked about my order (she did not acknowledge how long I waited, and had no clue what my order was) and magic, there it was sitting on the shelf. I was given my food, suspecting my order had been ready for some time and I had not been alerted. I live literally 2 mins away. Not to my surprise, when I got home my food was barely warm. To recap, I waited an hour for my food, paid $30 for a 14" pizza and cheese sticks and was rewarded with cold, not so great food. In particular, my Mediterranean pizza was super soggy, which was hard to stomach. I refuse to spend any more money at any Salvio's ever again. Not worth the money or your time - trust me. read more

I am all about supporting the local businesses. But, how about the local businesses supporting your loyal local customers who tell you that something was missing from their last order (in this case a $3.95 side salad) and just go ahead and add it to their $50+ potential order instead of giving a lecture that they should have called instead of emailed. Ordered online. More than half an hour after I ordered, they called back, claiming that they were not in my hotel's delivery range despite their website clearly saying it was. Called back the employee after their website, again, told me that their location was the one in their delivery range. She recommended a restaurant that was 8 miles away, despite her location being much closer. Everyone has their own idea of their perfect pizza. Mine isn't Dominos, or Papa John's, mine is Salvio's. The pizza reminds me of pizza home (NJ/NY), the flavor is perfect and isn't too oily or greasy like some chains. The slices are huge and it costs less to get a large there than it does at a chain. read more
