Went for dinner tonite. I got scallops and artichokes over linguine,,,,,YUM!! (except I wish they were SEA scallops instead of bay scallops - but I'm a bit of a scallop snob) Date got a pizza. Awesome 'bar pizza', thin crust, toppings all the way to the outside crust and, most impressive, sausage on the pizza was actual thick slices of italian sausage - not that sausage crumble garbage. the entrees were delish, I got mussels fra diavolo (spaghetti) and my wife ordered a cheese pizza, our son ordered a hot dog with fries, (all of the entrees were awesome) our appetizer, the fried calamari, on the other hand was disgusting and bland- there wasn't enough marinara or pepper & salt to make it taste good. And last but not least our waitress and hostess could have used an attitude adjustment and a smile. They looked like they would rather be dead than to make your experience at the restaurant a good one. We'll order out next time and stick to the pizza. read more

Gross. Sorry. No other way to describe this place. I guess it used to have good pizza in the day, but this place is tired, worn out, dirty, and I think the chef used to work on a prison ship. As other reviews say, they offer one medium'ish size pizza at a premium large price (2 pizzas, one with two toppings, one with cheese only came to $26.00). They were friendly and fast, and the pizza is a solid "OK". If you're ordering for 2 and don't mind paying a little extra, I'd recommend it. Otherwise, stick with a strip-mall pizzeria. read more

I went into this place for lunch ,I had been in there a few years ago it seems like a decent place to grab a few bites and drinks . After looking over the menu ,prices were a bit steep for my Liking I got the fish and chips 11 dollars not bad very good very fresh fish fries are awesome coleslaw was a bit on the sour side but what I didn't like is paying $2.50 for a 16 oz Fountain soda I won't be going back anytime soon read more

My wife and I came in here last Saturday night. The service was exceptional. We were told we would have to wait 25 minutes for a table something we were fine with. We decided to sit at the bar and enjoy a drink while waiting. Both bartenders were attentive and drinks were made fast. Leah was our waitress and she was great. I got the eggplant parmesan and it was delicious. This place may just be our new Saturday spot. If you haven't gone yet take a visit as you won't be disappointed. read more

So I ordered a pizza to go tonight. I haven't ordered a pizza from here in a long long time. Not very impressed. I wouldn't recommend the BBQ Chicken Specialty Pizza. This place is seriously lacking. The service is terrible. The waitresses just don't care. Not once were we checked on during our meal. Our food was less than sub par. The calamari wasn't real calamari. It was bland and cold. I had the chicken Parmesan which was mediocre at best. The marinara sauce was bland as well. And the meal wasn't served warm either because of the kitchen or because the waitress didn't care. I'm not sure which it could go either way. The other guest got chicken Marsala that was served with cold pasta that was overcooked and lacking in flavor. The waitress never came over to check on the meal and then gave us attitude after we told her that we weren't paying g for the chicken Marsala that wasn't eaten. I have given this restaurant several chances and its just not worth it. This time was more disappointing than the last. A friend and I went for a quick and easy dinner and it was neither quick nor easy. To start, the service was horrible. The server did not want to be there. She was slow to take our drink orders. Slow enough that we were able to order our meals and appetizer as well. As an appetizer the calamari was disappointing to say the least. It was bland and cold. The marinara that came with it had no flavor whatsoever. I would never recommend the calamari to anyone. Our meals were just plain terrible. The chicken parm came served in watery marinara sauce that we were able to dump onto another plate. The chicken marsala was even worse. The pasta was overcooked, mushy and flavorless. The chicken was dry and the mushrooms were undercooked. There were also giant slices of deli ham just thrown on top of the dish. It was so bad that it wasn't worth the calories to consume. The most upsetting part of the whole experience was the server's poor attitude when we first brought to her attention that the meal was bad. She mentioned that she normally gets complaints on the dish, took the plate and walked away. She returned with a $60 check. We then explained to her that we didn't even eat the chicken marsala and didn't want to cause and issue, but didn't want to pay the $16 for meal she just took away. She told us that she wished that we told her earlier. We said we weren't able to tell her because we never saw her after we started our meals. Then she argued with us about checking on us and said basically she was off the hook because we didn't complain earlier. Eventually she agreed to take the meal off the bill with some attitude. Save your money, time and frustration by avoiding Sam and Joe's. They need a serious overhaul of the kitchen staff, service staff, menu, and atmosphere. read more

VERY VERY disappointed- $65 dollars spent , this did include fees , delivery and tip ... just for 2 pasta dishes and a Caesar salad that was $11 ELEVEN dollars !!! Which we intended to split .. the salad was warm , the croutons where so stale $11 dollars for a pile of nothing .. on to the veal parm , I asked for light sauce - there wasn't even a SPOON FULL .. which was fine because the sauce was so gross ! The veal , I have no words , I was so excited paid the extra money from chicken to veal ... it was burnt tasteless ... next dish was the "bit of everything" cheese ravioli , chicken parm , fettuccine and a meatball .. if we where to explain the fettuccine sauce it seemed like melted cream cheese ... cheese ravioli was the same flavorless .. chicken was burnt like the veal .. meatball was like everything else tasteless .... as a "Italian" claimed restaurant I just hoped for so much more , especially flavor wise !! If you dont know how to make pizza, then dont serve it, not only was it a soggy wet mess it had little to no sauce on it as well as being under cooked. Twice I have gone to this restaurant and ordered a salad. I have asked for a salad with NO ONIONS. I emphasize the fact that I am allergic to onions and they can not just be removed, a salad has to be made without onions touching the plate. Twice I have received a salad with the flavor of onions on it. I will never eat there again. I have just spent most of the evening with hives and throwing up. The service is appalling and the male host was walking on the seats at the back window while setting the table. Leaving the restaurant I passed the door to the kitchen. It smelled unclean and that worries me that someone may get sick from the place not being properly clean. I always give a restaurant at least two tries before a review. I will never again go to sam and joes. Bad service and worse food! The last two times I went to sam and joes I have been upset at the aweful service and food that tastes canned and just not fresh. I don't want to write a book here but needless to say it took 20 minutes to take our order never got bread for the table and server disappeared for 10 minutes at a time. I used to love sam and joes now I realize the once reliable place is no more. I complained a out that experience to the owner who begged me to give them another shot. He comped the food we didn't even eat cause it came out cold, and gave us a gift certificate for a return visit. I didn't even want it but I took it. Last night I ordered 2 pizzas to go and asked for no olives on one. I got home to find it had tons of olives on it and both pizzas were just ok. But how hard is it to take a pizza order I even repeated no olives twice.. I used the gift card otherwise I would have complained but seriously how can u screw up a simple order like that! I would have went 2 1/2 if allowed... Bland and very mediocre the entrees were decent sized but again, OK.. Reminds me of places like the Hilltop, or The Continental relying on people from yesteryear to keep the word out... Terrible service, just sat at the bar and wanted a quick bite, ordered a drink and asked for a menu, was ignored for fifteen minutes. Finally ordered a pizza, which took forty minutes to come out. Apparently it was dropped on the floor and had to be remade. I can only hope that it was actually remade. I try to not let the service dictate my view of the food, and kept an open mind as I waited to feed my hunger. Damn, was I disappointed. The pizza came out looking completely disshevelled; watery sauce oozing out from under the cheese; cheese which immediately slid off upon hoisting the flimsy, watery slice to my mouth. All of this misery came to a total of 17.50(a 12" pie and a rootbeer). Completely overpriced. If ever in Danvers, avoid at all costs. Sam and Joe's, more like Sam and Blows! The matre'de was more interested in his cell phone than myself, wife and child, would've had more of his attention via a text!! The chicken parm was a melted mess, over sauced, over priced pile of mush (chicken was tough)...a texture nightmare! The turkey tips were just as tough as the chicken parm and the mashed potato was bland and cold! the piece of resistance was the chicken Marsala...what a disaster. The chicken was tough(what a surprise!) and bite sized, the ham was sliced deli cold cut style crap! Marsala sauce was loose and flavorless! The cook should be fired or at the least cut off his/her thumb! Sam and Blows are a couple of thieves and should close their doors to the public for good..TERRIBLE! I'm really really really sorry. Ever since I ate at Sam and Joes today I've been considerably more depressed. It was our first time there and we paid $17 for a pasta plate that tasted like flour. Very bland and pastey. I had to add salt butter cheese and sugar and I still couldntt taste it. Theres nothing wrong with the ingredients on the menu there's just something wrong with how they are making it. It made us both feel greasey and sick. They messed up the pasta plate also. The burger we ordered was so rare it was disGUSTING. Nevermind the ingredients also suck. Dont go here. Just dont. I half expected cat fur to be in my food. i was so looking foward to enjoying some italian food, and was sorely disappointed. they claim to be the best pizza around, and that might be true, but my family ordered dinners. the bruschetta was incredibly spicy from the fresh garlic. i adore garlic, and it was too much for me. jalepeno poppers were meh, as expected. i got chicken scampi, which was advertised as being cooked with olive oil and garlic. what i got was boiled chicken with cartilage in it, the wrong pasta, and greasy oil with no garlic. the service was also subpar, we were there an hour and a half before we got our food. we won't be going back. read more
