Since it was my first time being able to get a daiquiri I took the chance and got a mango daiquiri. It had me spinning after a few sips but it was a perfect match with the food. The server was so polite and offered great alternatives if you wandered about mixing and matching menu items. My food ended up taking a while so they gave me an extra piece of fish and let's just say that I was certainly pleased with that gesture. I didn't eat it all In one setting, so I was able to take some home and actually have lunch the next day. The place was such a relaxed space and easy spot to consume your food. It wasn't too cold in there and it wasn't too noisy. I will surely return.

The shrimp were tender and well seasoned, though not quite what I would consider jumbo. The snow crab legs werenot as plentiful as I'd prefer based on the description, but the texture was right where it needed to be. They broke cleanly and pulled easily, which made them enjoyable to eat. The eggs were actually one of my favorite parts. They held the seasoning really well and added an extra layer of flavor to the meal. I placed a pickup order, and the experience inside was just as pleasant. The space was clean, and the woman at the front was genuinely friendly. We had a quick conversation about the menu while I waited, which made the visit feel more personal. Overall, I would come back for the flavor, even if I am hoping for slightly more generous portions next time.

We always talked about it, but hadn't heard any buzz so it stayed under our radar until recently. We've now been twice and both were great! AND I have pics!! Our first time we started with drinks (as usual) ; she had the Black Walnut Old Fashion, which was good, but a little different, so she went with a regular one the second time and preferred it. I had a margarita both times and my ONLY issue was that it's not twice the size....it was very good. Before going further, our waitress was Kirsten and she's AWESOME!! Very helpful and with a great attitude!! I had the blackened reddish on the first visit which was EXCELLENT. It reminded me of the old S&J Oyster Company for you old timers. I had the Whiskey Pork Chops on the second visit, which is two Chops in an awesome sauce. My wife had the Gumbo the first time, and the Shrimp Etouffee the second, and liked both, but thought they were very similar. Don't be like us--go!!!

We ordered the hushpuppies to start and they were a little overdone. The butter was just a bit odd. It was supposed to be a green chile butter but I got no heat or spice. It was almost sweet. I wouldn't order these again. I ordered the ultimate brisket sandwich and it was comfort food at its best. It was a huge open-faced stacked sandwich with mashed potatoes on the bottom, topped with a bread base, sliced brisket, more mashed potatoes, gravy, fried onions and horseradish sauce. It was really good. The Hubs ordered the shrimp poor boy with okra. He said the seasoning on everything was lacking. I think he might have used half a bottle of hot sauce. The drink selection is sparce. Not much on tap. I did try the black walnut old fashion and it was good. I liked the salon-style groupings of prints on the walls. Honestly, I didn't notice any music playing, jazz or other wise. Service was good. When we walked out and were talking on the sidewalk, the out-of-towner summed it up, "It was good but I will probably want to go somewhere else next time." I did think the prices were reasonable.

Our experience was great, the staff friendly and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere pretty chill with historical pictures on the walls. Hubs got the prime rib with sweet potato fries and green beans. They offer creamy horseradish or grated, as well as an au jus. Green beans needed a tab bit more salt for our taste but they were vibrant green and delicious! I got the blackened chicken with a loaded baked potato and green beans. The chicken was super moist and well cooked. The blackening seasoning was mild to my taste but I also drink hot sauce like soda pop so this may be a personal preference thing. The baked potato was big, fluffy, and filled with butter, cheese, and bacon. Topped it off with some S&P and it was absolutely hitting all high notes of a solid great baked potato for me. They've got some alcoholic choices but we stuck to sweet tea (theirs is perfect) and Dr. Pepper(my Texan husband said they got "the mix" right). While we were leaving we were told to check out the cat fish next time, and trust, dear reader, there WILL be a next time.
