I have been to Sam Tailor a few times over the last several weeks. I needed to get my summer suit, tux and a variety of dress shirts and slacks altered because I lost some weight this past spring. Paddy was my tailor. He has a great eye and the knowledge on how to rebuild my custom tailored suit and shirts. The seamstress ladies did an excellent job altering my clothes. Every item was pressed and put on a hanger. Every item fit like a glove. Makes me look great. I left some cash in the tip jar because I was impressed. The cost was reasonable. I would guess that the alterations cost was 20-40% of buying new for my premium Italian/British wool blend suit, slacks, and Egyptian cotton shirts, Tommy Bahama golf pants and shorts. Bring cash when you drop off your clothes if you want to save 2-3% on the credit card fee. Sam Tailor is next door to Hollywood Suits, so most of their business is derived from providing a quick turnaround on those items. If you can leave your items for 5-10 days, they will give you a bit of a break on the cost, which is what I did. I also had some bargain Costco and Target pants that I use for working on the car and doing chores around the house. It's not worth having these items altered, just donate them and buy replacements. While I was donating at Goodwill I found a decent pair of jeans and a flannel shirt at a bargain price. read more

They changed be $45 to hem a pair of slacks. When I picked them up, all they did was cut off the material, left the raw edges and sewed a 3" hem. I will have to redo it. Never seen such a lack of professional sewing ever. These people are not tailors by any stretch of the imagination. read more

My friend took a suit he purchased here from next door (Hollywood Suits) to be tailored. We were promptly greeted, and although they were fairly busy, got him in and out quickly (had to pick it up a week later). Pick up was super easy and less than 5 minutes. Everything you could ever want when you need your clothes altered! I have a party on Monday, it's Saturday end of the day and I was panicking because a lot of places are closed Sunday. Well I called, they answered the phone right away, I told them my predicament. The man said to bring it on down and he'd have to see it in person to let me know if they could have it ready by end of day Sunday. Mind you it's a ball gown with lining! I get there after 5, I try it on, they pin it. He said they can have it ready by the end of the day 7:30 on a Saturday! I couldn't believe it! Maybe I got lucky and they were able to fit me in, don't be upset if they can't get to yours the same day but it's worth a try! They know what they're doing, I'm a seamstress too I just haven't had time to fix it lately. My dress looks like it was made for me now! I loooove it ! read more

This place is terrible we had 4 pants hemmed and 1 taken in, The one that we had taken in at the waist came undone at the seems the FIRST DAY!!!! my husband wore it. I was supposed to go in later for the other 3 pairs so I called and asked if they had finished the job they said "NO" I told them not to proceed since I didn't like there work. The manager apparently didn't care and worked on the pants regardless. They didn't give me my money back or even offered a discount for there terrible work and after less than 2 weeks another pair of pants came completely undone at the hem leaving one leg longer than the other all this guy could say was "SORRY THE WORKS ALREADY BEEN DONE" OVER PRICED TERRIBLE WORK!!! read more

Secondly I gave you specific and asked how much would a full tailoring cost around. You could have easily said a ball park number but you wanted to act smart, not smart for business. The guy working on my suit must have been blind as a bat because the pants are shorter than we had agreed on, and left me at risk of catching a case at the park if I accidentally leaned forward a little too much. I came here to get a suit and shirts tailored which I did , first thing I noticed was the pricing was ridiculous for what I was getting done. I went through with it anyway to give them the Benefit of the doubt . Upon picking up my suit I was told I needed to pay an additional $50 because the worker "forgot" to add an additional fee! I asked if he could wave the cost because it wasn't quoted to me when I paid prior to picking it up . Bought a couple of suits from Hollywood Suits and they told me to come here. The suit place was great. I have a tailor place I usually go to that is great and cheap but I figured I was already there and would give it a shot. Garbage and overpriced. Didn't let me tell them how slim a fit I wanted. They charge 15 to hem the pants and 25 to taper. $40 for a job you can usually get for $25 somewhere else. read more

This place is trash. I walked in with my dad to have his suit tailored and the place reeks of cigarette smoke! My dad was helped by an older white man with a long pony tail and he was not very professional and very dismissive of me. Fast forward to when we picked up the suit and they fucked up the whole jacket....how???! They cut the sleeves too short the back is now too tight and it looks terrible on my dad. They refused to do anything about it and send us on our way. Make sure you document the alterations you agreed to and confirm them before you leave the place because they have a shit system of keeping track on what was done to the jacket. read more

They turned my MC Hammer parachute dress pants (LOL) into awesome slim fit pants, and made my suit jacket fit nicely. They have a customer for life. read more

If I can give this place a negative star review I WOULD! The guy who was measuring my fiancé's suite was so unprofessional. I called over the phone to ask how much the pricing would range if I was to get the suit fitting to my fiancé's body. He gave me and irrelevant example which was like you going into a restaurant and asking what the price is if you haven't ordered anything? WHAT? Then when we came in he took the measurements through out the whole process and I thought all that would go into account that it would be fixed for us. When we came to pick up the suit PAID $155 for a baggy suit that looked exactly like how we left it and they butchered the sleeves making it so short that you can see the inside shirt sleeve! I TRY telling him and he replied well you didn't tell me how short you wanted! LIKE IF I WAS TO KNOW THEN I WOULDN'T ASK YOU TO FIX IT FOR ME! OMG! We bought a suit from Hollywood suit next door and they sent us here for alterations. Do not go here, I questioned the price (not what was posted in HS) but went with it for convenience unfortunately the alterations were wrong. I wasn't able to have my son try on on pickup because of his schedule, the hem is to short not at all what we asked for and what he took in on the waist/bum area caused the pockets not to lie flat. My son wrestles so weight/body fluctuations do not happen unless it's planned these we're mistakes on their part. So disappointed his homecoming suit does not look as he anticipated. read more

Was not so happy picking up my suit. We had agreed to a certain length on the pants and when I tried it on and requested it be adjusted based on what we agreed I was given attitude. Also the length of the arms On the jacket were left too long and when I asked if he could adjust like we had agreed he went on to say it was going to be an extra charge. Keep in mind the first time around that was not mentioned and he said it would and could be done. Suck to yo know that since the tailoring is already paid once you request something else, it's done with a negative attitude not like the first time when they we're getting the measurements and not paid. My husband and I picked up a suit for him at Hollywood Suits. Met Sam (well, we think he was Sam. He had la long ponytail and was very personable) and he had the suit ready to go by the next day. Middle eastern owner with a bad attitude, refused to fix the bad job they did saying I asked for my pants to be flood control, stay away

We used them twice, the first time to adjust pants which they did good, then we bought an expensive suit that needed adjustment both the pants and the suit. They left the sleeves of the suit too short, and all they said is "that is how it is supposed to look" Not only the expensive suit was ruined but it was expensive to pay for the adjustments to begin with. I will not be using this Tailor again, save yourself a headache. read more

This is only my second review, but this was "sooo" bad I had to warn others. I purchased a suite from Hollywood Suites (won't do that again - EVER) who recommended Sam Tailor (next door). I had a bad feeling when I walked in, that this wasn't going to be a good experience. I continued because they were so highly recommended (even though they're a 3 star). I had hoped for the best, but expected the worst (which is what I got). My experience went as follows. First, I was quotes $105 to tailor the pant and $45 for the jacket. My first though was - don't do it or you'll regret it. So a asked again back at the store, who called the owner and was quoted as $45 for the pants. Still based on the recommendation I do the alterations with Sam Tailor. They requested payment upfront. Not $45, but $45 plus tax, so it wasn't $45 it was $49. I've not seen that before, though don't have much tailored. Second, the tailor (whom I had to pull of the street during his cigarette break) took about maybe 3-4 minute to mark my suite pants and jacket. I thought that wasn't enough time. I comment that I've not had much tailoring done, but this is what I would like. Response - well this is what needs to be done. OK you know what you're doing - I'll trust you. After 7 days of waiting for the tailoring, I go into pick up my suite pant and (surprise) they were nothing like we discussed. I asked what happened to my pants!!! I commented, to the same tailor, that I would like to have the mistakes corrected. So, I waited a little more then an hour. Finally, I'll get to walk away today satisfied - NOPE. I did walk away, but in frustration and anger. Even Hollywood Suites thought it was horrible and told me to speak to the owner. The second visit was with the owner - finally - some resolution. OMG, second verse same as the first. He worked on it - still wasn't correct - then they stated that there wasn't enough fabric left to do what I wanted. How much is my time worth, apparently nothing to these guys. The third visit should be my last, well that was correct. I now have to buy a new pair of pant, because they Frankensteined these go bad!!! Sam Tailor: If you can't do something or do it correctly, please tell me before and I'll find someone that can. Don't take my money and say, well that's the best we can do. read more

Sam Taylor is one of the best alteration's Ive been too. I always purchase fitted suits from Zara but they always run big on me. I'm a size Small/petite. Sam and his workers always work like perfectionist when alternating the sleeves & waists of my jacket and the pants suit to fit tighter on my legs. Their prices are reasonable. And you feel like nothing was altered but when you try it on. You are shocked to see how will they altered it without making signs of the alteration. Amazing - feels like magic. read more

In the past, I've always bought suits at Men's Warehouse where tailoring was included. But they don't do tailoring anymore, so I bought a suit at Hollywood Suit Outlet. They recommend Sam tailor, which is right next door. Can't get more convenient than that. So thought I'd give them a try. When I arrived I was greeted with a handshake by a well dressed gentleman introducing himself as David. He had me try on my suit and made some recommendation on how to make it fit better. I agreed on all of them. I then asked the cost. He explained that all the different alterations had a different cost and that my total would be in the $125 price range. At first I thought that was expensive. But while in the dressing room I googled tailor pricing nationwide and found his price were comparable to the ones I googled. I also did the math in my head and the cost of the suit plus tailoring here was still cheaper than a Men's Warehouse suit. I was told it would take about 4 days until it would ready. I asked if it could be done sooner and was told they could, but a "rush fee" would be added. It was just a few dollars more so I agreed to it. I was a little concerned about the hem because he measured me with no shoes. But when I picked up my suit later after work (they close @ 9pm) everything fit perfectly. I felt like James Bond in my new suit. Like I could walk the red carpet @ the Oscars. Will definitely use them after any future suit purchases. Oh, he also shook my hand as I was leaving. Hello Yelpers! Sam Tailor did a fine job on my suit pants and I hope they continue the quality work. They were easy to work with and were patient with my indecisiveness of what length, width. etc I wanted my pants. In the end I thought the price was fair and the work was perfectly done. Here's my story: I bought a suit from Hollywood Suits, walked over to Sam Tailor, and was measured for alteration. I wasn't sure how I wanted the suit pants to fit so I came back the next day and I brought m my wife and a pair of pants I liked and showed them what I wanted, but then my wife said she wanted the pant leg to be tighter. So after much discussion with the tailor and my wife, the tailor made a decision for me. My wife and I agreed. One week later I came back to pick up the pants and tried them on. They fit and looked great! The pant legs are in the middle of what my wife wanted and what I wanted and the length fits perfectly. He also let out the waist and that fits very comfortably too. What I got done to my suit pants: 1) Hemmed to perfect length. 2) Tapered the pant leg to my delight. 3) Widened the waist for my ever growing happy belly. Price: $45 Thank you Sam Tailor! read more
