Sammich apparently has gone down the tubes. I spent $19 for turkey flavored bread that had debris in it. What a waste of money, Sadly I would have got a better sandwich at Arby's.

We have stopped here a couple of times traveling between home (CA) and Portland. There is a good variety of sandwiches, both meat and vegetarian, some hot and some cold, as well as beers, ciders, and NA drinks. We like to try the specials. The servers are patient and friendly and allow us to share a sandwich. There is only outside seating on a covered patio, with heaters. It's in an almost hidden location but their sign is big and bright so you can find it!

Pretty solid sandwhich. More brisket than pastrami but it was mighty tasty! Glad we stopped by and hoping to stop again next time be they had something great on the bbq grill.

The sandwiches here are delicious and so fresh. I love their outdoor seating and have yet to try something I don't like. Their staff is friendly and the vibe is very relaxed. If you like sandwiches I definitely recommend this place!

This was our first time at Sammich, Ashland. There is a lot of buzz about this ... (you can't call it a restaurant ... maybe a brick-and-mortar food truck) ... especially on Food Network ... so we were excited to give it a try. We tried the Pastrami Zombie ($18.00), the Porkstrami ($15.00), and a cup of Potato Salad ($5.00). I don't know if I really understand what "Chicago Italian" style pastrami is, but it didn't seem recognizable as pastrami. Both sammiches were very generous, excellent smoked beef brisket or pork sandwiches, just not what I crave when I crave Pastrami. The Potato Salad was, to me, just so so. The sammiches did come with a bag of chips, and a pickle spear. So, great local place, friendly Staff, outside dining, no visible restroom, good, solid smoked sandwiches. Four Stars. And remember, the City of Ashland adds a 5% Food and Beverage Tax on every order.

The ambiance alone is great for spending time with your bookstore purchases. The service was friendly and quick. It was just the one guy when we were there, making coffees and running into the kitchen to make food. But it didn't take long to get our order. The kids had a steamer and a hot cocoa. They were a little warm for immediate drinking so maybe specify if you want your beverage less than normal hot for kids. The cocoa also had a bit of a cinnamon flavor to it. I thought it was delicious, but if you have a purist cocoa drinker in your party, again, ask! The adults drank drip coffee. It was tasty too! If you are staying in, you will get a ceramic mug, so if you want a paper cup let your barista know. The big win for me was the menu of gluten free pastries! They had regular glutinous things like burritos and quiche that looked tasty but the gluten free!!!! They partner with a bakery in town (sisters sans gluten) to have a variety of offerings. I had a poppyseed muffin, but they had other breads and muffins that all looked good. The offerings change, but I was so excited to see gf options at all. Highly recommend this spot! Also!!! They open at 9 with the bookstore, which is a full hour before the other shops on Main Street. Start your day here. You won't be sorry.

The patio/courtyard is quiet, away from traffic noise. Goodbean Coffee is excellent (more to my taste than Noble!) Most baked goods are gluten free. Dogs welcome in the courtyard. Downsides: hours may be erratic due to staffing shortages, so calling ahead may be advisable. The courtyard landscaping could use some clean up and sprucing up.

Speaking, the brisket in the Banh Mi was unfortunately tough and lacked the tenderness you'd expect from a properly smoked or braised cut. It had the distinct texture of a pre-packaged Sysco-style product, or perhaps it was a cold portion reheated on a flat top without being properly rehydrated, leaving it dry and chewy. I understand that protein carries a high food cost, especially in the current market. However, a more effective approach might be to balance the menu engineering by leaning on lower food cost items, like seasonal sides or creative vegetarian options, to offset the expense of sourcing and correctly preparing higher-end brisket. This would allow for a better product that justifies its price point, covers its own cost, and ultimately helps the company's bottom line while maintaining the quality standards this town deserves. I'd love to see a return to the quality I experienced a few years ago. All and all, despite the brisket. The service was kind and friendly.
