I was craving a burger but didn't want the usual fast food, and didn't have time for a sit-down restaurant. I remembered hearing about Sammy's Burger from someone, so I checked it out. It's counter service, plenty of seating, and they bring your food to your table. Fountain drinks, free refills. My burger was excellent. It's located on Estrella Parkway in Goodyear, only a couple minutes south of I-10 in a little strip mall with a Senor Taco (also very good, BTW). He was extremely rude and showed no self-respect or professionalism. His behavior toward my family was clearly racist -- he treated us differently simply because we are Mexican. As soon as a Caucasian person walked in, his attitude completely changed and he became polite and respectful. This kind of discriminatory behavior is unacceptable. Didn't think I'd like this country bowl with the gravy on it but when I tried the gravy on it I had to just mix it all in. Man oh man it was so good! I added bacon and jalapeños. I live in California and I really wish Sammy's was by my house. I fell in love with this place the three weeks I've been here. I go home tomorrow and I will forever miss you Sammy's. They're not great. They have no omelette with a lot of vegetables which irks me and half the time I ask to add vegetables to my omelette a, they're out. I find anything else on their menu that's fried is extremely greasy or overcooked, too. If you ask for their fried zucchini, it is so overcooked that the zucchini inside has disappeared and you're left with a stick of batter. It's pretty disgusting. I'd rate this place one star if not for their French toast. They have the best French toast I've ever had in my life. I'd skip anything else they sell, however. read more

Me and my boyfriend are vegetarian and would always get the garden burger it was really delicious but the one woman cashier with long nails is by far the rudest person ever she's always on her phone that's really unprofessional it was not a great experience with her and how she handles customers. Great service and great food. This place reminds me of an old styled mom and pop shop from the 90's when I was a kid getting a good old fashioned char broiled burger. Nothing flashy or special about this place just plain old good burgers and fries the way they were intended to be. The chili cheese fries were great as well. Every fast food hamburger is at least 5 times better than the trashy, greasy food this dump puts out. Soggy buns, limp zucchini, low grade meat, oily fries, Oscar Meyer quality pastrami and just a waste of about 25 bucks. Burgers had way too much stuff and sauce and the bun fell apart. Packaging also might be an issue, but avoid the pastrami as well due to fatty, bottom quality. Lower end food for lower end people. read more

Came here a few years ago and LOVED IT! Hadn't been back for whatever reason but told someone in from outta town that I knew of this super yummy local burger place. So we went in a few weeks ago and what a letdown it was! The meat was so over cooked that calling it a burger was a stretch... felt like I was chewing jerky! The fries were also super overdone. It's like maybe they got too busy in their service and the food just sat waiting to be cooked. I don't know! The place wasn't very crowded inside so I'm not sure what it could have been. But we were there with 2 other families and got about 10 burgers between all of us! They were all pretty dried out. read more

We were craving burgers and shakes on. Friday night. We'd driven by this place a hundred times and we were excited to finally try it. It was pretty busy when we walked in, always a good sign. You order at the counter and they will call your number when ready and bring it to your table. They have an extensive menu. The usual fried food. But their burgers and fries are the stars. I took a pic of my strawberry shake which server said was delicious, sadly as soon as I tried it, it tasted like freezer burn. Hoping it was just a fluke. We will certainly go back and give it another try. Our burgers were super yummy. My California burger was yummmmy! He ordered the Slam dunk. Was there for lunch today. Ordered fish and chips and got 1 tiny thing of tartar sauce. They wanted to charge $0.50 each for an additional one but required $5 minimum if paying with card. 2 female employees were very rude and have no idea what customer service means. When asked for the Managers contact info they became even more rude and refused to provide a name or contact information. These 2 "ladies" and I use that term loosely, need a class on manners and customer service. Huge indication that business is bad when you start charging for condiments on a $30 order - maybe things would get better if you ditch the crappy employees. read more

I was pretty excited to try Sammy's out after reading a review comparing it to the style of So-Cal local burger joints. Selection is good, lots of stuff to choose from, I am a sucker for anything "Hatch Green Chile" so I went with the Hatch Burger. Burger Pattie's themselves were good, though a little on the greasy side. Cheese was a nice gooey pepper jack. Hatch chiles were pretty bland, really no spice at all and the typical flavor that I know and love was pretty mild as well. Sorry to say that even Sonic's Hatch Chiles have more flavor. Left me wanting something to perk up the burger like jalapeños, or some kind of sauce or heck even mustard (not on tables). I'd give the onion rings a hard pass, felt like a grocery store freezer type that was thrown in the oven, didn't even feel fried. French fries on the other hand were really good as I kept having to steal some from my husband's plate. I will likely give it another try at some point, give something else on the menu another chance. It was "bad" but also wasn't as blown away as I had been hoping for. read more

My friend's double bacon cheeseburger put my hatch chile burger to shame but it's all good. The hatch chile burger had good flavor, a nice char, and came wrapped up like a newborn baby. I hate it when I get a burger with no wrapper and the juice slides all over the place. The fries came unsalted which I actually appreciate. Crispy on the outside, fluffy and creamy on the inside. It was the perfect fry. If this place wasn't so far, I can see myself eating here more often. It's a modest sized place with lots of booths and tables for you to sit at. The first time to Sammy's the guy at the counter bald head, glasses had a horrible attitude and I thought to myself maybe he's having a bad day didn't think to much of it and didn't say anything to him. We love this place however last time we went (yesterday 2/25) we purchased a steak with one of our orders and they claimed they do not carry steak knives ?! How is the cook cooking properly without his proper utensils so for them not to think it appropriate to ask the kitchen was very disappointing especially since we never have any issues with any of the staff here. Yesterday just wasn't a pleasant experience which was very disappointing since we eat and spend a hell of a lot of money in this establishment. The two female staff workers literally looked at me as if the request was bizarre which was so bizarre to me. We spent what nearly 25$ on the plate come on, at Ruth's Chris where they serve steaks they carry steak knives, country boys which is my other hidden gem (camelback location) they aren't even in the price caliber as Sammy's and have what you need to properly consume your meal. It' was just gross and a very poor service to not be able to properly eat our dine in meal as humans should with all the appropriate utensils. I found it odd that we ate inside just a day before this trip and dinned in as well and we had regular plating and this trip was half inside half Togo containers? I'm not sure if the staff is on the same page or what but to be so to be so pricey that was confusing and messy especially since this trip we ordered a steak we had to naw on like animals. I was in the area and this place popped up when I was looking up burger joints near me. I frequent Jim's burger and eggs and this place is pretty much the same as Jim's just smaller. So I ordered my usual the pastrami sandwich and my husband had the pastrami burger. My son had a bacon cheese and my daughter had the hot dog combo. I did not want to eat in the place but we did because we were still running errands. The place could use a good scrub!!! The pastrami was a little over cooked for my taste and my husbands burger was certainly smaller and flatter than what we normally get at Jim's. I wonder if this is the same owner as Jim's? While I was eating they started to clean the place but it needs a lot more than sweeping the floor and wiping the tables. The napkin holder was even dirty. As I was observing all of this I began to wonder if this is what the visible area looks like my goodness I wonder what was behind those closed doors. My daughter has to use the ladies room and when I opened the door she immediately said she didn't have to go anymore. I totally understood. The bathrooms also needed to be clean.
