They actually took my filter out to show me how bad it was instead of upselling it and it was actually yellow and black and they still didn't pressure me to buy a new one only recommended I get it done soon so I just had them replace it. They were professional and nice and pretty funny too. They told me tire rotation might be up to 30 min but I felt like I was in the lobby for only 10. The first gentleman I spoke with was polite and helpful. After my car was taken to the back, another employee called me to the counter and explained that the tire could not be patched and would need to be replaced. I was okay with that. While he was giving me a quote, I was trying to reach my husband, who was in a work meeting across town, to make sure he agreed with purchasing a new tire. Since I couldn't get ahold of him right away, I told the employee to go ahead and order the tire. A few moments later, I was able to speak with my husband, and he decided not to move forward with purchasing the tire. I immediately let the employee know and asked him to cancel the order and put my spare tire on instead. At that point, his attitude changed noticeably. He became irritated and repeatedly said, "This is what your wife told me to do," to my husband over the phone, as though he was unwilling to respect our decision to cancel the order. I understand it may have been frustrating to cancel after initially agreeing, but I had not paid for anything, and I informed him as soon as we made our decision. He then told me I would have to wait while my spare tire was installed, which I completely understood. However, when my car was finally ready, he called me to the counter, tossed my keys and paperwork toward me without acknowledging me, and said nothing else. I had to ask, "Am I good to go?" before he simply replied, "Yep." No explanation was given about the work that had been completed or anything I should know before leaving when the paperwork clearly stated an inspection of some sort had been done. While I appreciate the helpfulness of the first employee, the second employee's behavior left a very negative impression. I understand that plans sometimes change, but customers should still be treated with professionalism and respect. We have since scheduled an appointment with Discount Tire where the same tire is cheaper and the customer service is leaps and bounds better.

For years I have been WARNING vehicle owners to NOT expect anything but mediocre to poor service at…read moreWalmart Auto Centers for lube and oil changes. I have tried to follow my own advice by going elsewhere to have my C1500 pickup serviced. But, in a hurry to get things done prior to leaving the State for an extended period of time, I took a chance for one more time. I regret my hurried decision. (1) I found - and complained - about too much oil being put in my pickup. But, the woman behind the check out counter - NOT a "technician" - said she checked and the (excess) oil was right on the full mark. Naturally, I disagreed because the GM specs state the CORRECT amount to be put in the engine. [Other Walmart's have put as much as 8 quarts of oil in my pickup which requires 5 quarts with filter change.] (2) As has happened EVERY TIME in the past at EVERY Walmart, the so-called "technician" failed to lube ALL 15 fittings. Out of 15 fittings, 8 were lubed this time with 6 being the usual number. [One Walmart wanted to charge me extra for each one over the six they did find.] When I complained about only half being lubed, the "technician" put my pickup back up on the rack and found ONE fitting and apologized for missing it. That leaves six more fittings on the driveshaft U-joints he wasn't able to find. Surely he knows what they look like. (3) My pickup has 185,000+ miles on the odometer. The "technician" stated there are oil leaks. I had the oil changed at a small garage after having had some repair work done. I have added NO oil since that time AND the "technician" showed the pre-check oil was FULL. (4) The day before I made this mistake of going to Walmart, I checked and aired up all of my tires to 34 psi. Today, the "technician" shows all tires were checked and are now at 35 psi. (5) After leaving in disgust, I made one stop on the way home which is about 8 miles from Walmart. Yet, the odometer reading at Walmart (185,167) shows I am a bit farther away with a much higher reading at home in the SAME town (185,920) or 753 miles away which I drove - through city traffic - in 30 minutes. (6) License tag number on the statement must have been taken off someone else's vehicle because it is NOT even close to my tag number. THIS will be my LAST trip to ANY Walmart Auto Center. Their service is inferior to poor at best; their knowledge is worse and their ability to follow the manufacturer's specifications is non-existent. I am wondering how many vehicles Walmart sends out the door after being only partially serviced; but the unsuspecting customer is charged the full price as I was.

Specifically, I purchased a used 545RFE Transmission from them for my Gen 3 Ram 1500 pickup via Facebook Marketplace. After calling and reviewing their web site and Sunshine State business license, I drove the 90 min to Middleburg and was pleasantly surprised by the business I entered. The lobby looked like something from a TV show like Gas Monkey Garage. Even the parking lot was clean and filled with high end, late model Chargers, and Ram trucks, sprinkled with amazingly restored 60s muscle cars. I met the owner John Orbe who directed me outside to a box truck behind their gates. Within was about 20 or so transmissions. He retrieved a forklift and straps to reach into the middle and remove the 545RFE I wanted to look at. He told me it was from a crashed Durango the owner decided not to repair with 115K miles on it. It was very professionally removed from the donor vehicle and stored out of the elements. The cooling lines were cut and folded over. The torque converter was fastened in place with a temporary bracket, all the electrical connectors were in place, cut from the harness, protecting the pins. The unit had not been pressure washed so one could see where any leaks may have been. There was a plug in the tail to prevent fluid loss, or critter incursion. Very Professionally done. All this for $350, the low end of used transmission prices at this time. Mr. Orbe was very courteous, knowledgeable and friendly in his demeanor and attitude. He suggested I flush the trans cooler on my truck and install this trans as is. Drive it for 3K to 5K miles then service it with new filters, fluid, etc. The transmission has been installed and it operates flawlessly, no codes, no leaks. The shop that did this for me even used the trans mount on the new/used trans as it was in better shape than the fluid soaked unit on my trans. From my experience with John R Orbe and his Laid Back Garage, I would recommend doing business with them to my friends and family. I was very impressed with what I saw, what I heard, how I was treated and the organization I saw in their shop. I truly wish I lived closer so that I could take advantage of a shop that does good, honest work at a fair price.
