It is fantastic knowing that you can take your vehicle to a mechanic and know that you will not be steered incorrectly! I have been coming to Hoover Automotive for several years, and what keeps me returning are that fair prices on parts/labor, the rapport that Thomas builds with his customers, the time-efficient/quality mechanics, the courteous updates given throughout each servicing, & the level of professionalism that all companies should keep in mind when winning over customers' loyalty! Keep up the outstanding work!

Each and every…read moremechanic, including the owner and the Service Manager, excels at knowledge, service, honesty, and expertise when it comes to repair work, custom work, and customer communications. The respect and kindness they show is equaled by the "Can-Do" trust they command. I was lucky enough to find them about 4 years ago, and I won't have my truck worked on by anyone else. They have all the professional assets my Dealer had, yet the non-corporate attitude. You can reason with them, explain details and expect them to really listen (and understand). They are serious about the business and it shows. Often I will wait for my vehicle while maintenance or repairs are being done and I have a first-hand view of how they handle customers, delivery personnel, difficult situations, etc. Every customer seems like they must be a good friend or a family member. That's how I felt from the beginning and I see now that it's not I am not really that special - it's the team who is special. These guys are responsible. Questions or follow-up concerns are addressed immediately - They will give you their attention and they will make sure you drive away as a completely satisfied customer. There is no doubt you will be very impressed. You get more than what you pay for here.

Steve and the guys at Transmission Hero are terrific! He…read moresaved me big $$! I took my 2018 Chevy Silverado there to get a transmission fluid service done because I had the "Chevy Shakes", and I wanted to see if that would help. There were codes on my code-reader that didn't make any sense, along with the "Random Misfires" code. I was fully expecting the verdict would wind up being that I'd need a new 6L80 transmission (or engine problems). But Steve's integrity came out right away. Steve said we should not do a fluid change until we first do diagnostics and see the whole picture. He's a talker... and very dogmatic, so be patient and listen to him... he definitely has tons of experience in this. He explained to me that many Chevy/GMC 5.3L V-8 engines have Active Fuel Management (AFM), and that the AFM programming in the Engine Control Module (ECM) and the over-complicated programming in the Transmission ECM (TECM) can cause the Torque Converter to lock & unlock too much; there's too much "noise". The shifting from V-8 to 4-cylinder (and back), changing speeds, braking, all cause constant Torque Converter "chatter", and I could definitely feel it. It was shakin' & shuddering! So they first ran diagnostics, and very importantly, live diagnostics while driving it so they could see the converter chattering, engine misfires, live data, etc. He told me there's likely "nothing wrong with your transmission", but we need to quiet the noise. He proposed an AFM Delete. Not the cheap little thing you get on Amazon, mind you (those don't work well), he was able to re-flash the ECM & TECM to remove the AFM programming, improve the transmission function, and also we went with new plugs, coils, and wires; BAM! No more shimmy, shimmy, cocoa-pop! NO codes on the OBD-II Scanner/Code reader! Now I have one smooth running pick'em up truck with an engine that's a full-time V-8, not dropping cylinders due to AFM. And... not sure why, but over the 2 weeks since we got this great resolution, it's getting better fuel mileage too! What I thought was going to be a very expensive problem, Transmission Hero got me out the door for a fraction of the expected costs. Thanks Steve.

In less than a week - I had a diagnosis as well as a few different options ahead of me. Gary explained in great detail the pro's and con's of the options provided and even made a recommendation. I opted to replace with a re-manufactured engine (that came with a 3 yr/100,000 mile warranty). Carmen - who was an angel to work with throughout the entire process - quoted me a time frame of less than a week from the day they take delivery of the engine. Less than week later (including a holiday) - I get a call to come pick my truck up it was fixed. I get there - my truck runs better than it did the day I picked it up from the dealership. Gary must have spent a good 45 minutes talking me through all of the things he noticed, his extensive testing, explanation of next steps to break the engine in, the free oil change they threw in, etc. I go back into the office and Carmen had everything lined up and stepped me through all of the paperwork that came with my new engine as well as guided me through the steps to get the warranty registered to me. She even told me to call them if I notice anything crazy with my truck and they would have me towed in at their expense - just to be safe!!! It is a pity that I am leaving the area - just when I found "The last mechanic I will ever need...". I highly recommend Gary's Car Craft - you will not be disappointed!

They both went in with small engine problems and…read morethe both wound up getting screwed for over $6500 for the one car and $850 for the 2nd car. The last car a BMW came in for oil drain pan seal replacement that cost $5000 and when he received the car back the brake lights were not working. Now how does that happen! Gary said he did not do that, so my friend left it with him again and one month later he says it is fixed but it was not two months after that he says it is fixed and wanted to charge him another $850!!! After calling bullshit on that he lowered the bill to $450. This is a pattern with this business they start with the original problem and then other things pop up making that bill larger and larger. Do not take your car to Gary's Car Craft.

After a particularly bad experience at the Tires Plus on Fleming Island, I was hesitant to try another location but I had a $25 voucher and needed an oil change. I wish I knew the name of the man who helped me but I'm willing to bet he is the only Australian (or was he from New Zealand? oops!) working in the store. I had used their online appointment making program (which is great) so when I came in he went over what I was in for. When I showed him that I had a voucher because of a previous experience he asked if he could ask what had happened for me to end up with it. I told him the short version and even though it didn't even happen at this store, he seemed genuinely apologetic. The store has a tv and small waiting area and the oil change was quick and painless. I had a backup light out but figured they would charge some insane amount to fix it. It turned out to be something like $7 to fix so I had them do it. I didn't feel like I was being pushed to buy products or services I didn't need. A surprisingly great experience!

After my car was taken to the back, another employee called me to the counter and explained that the tire could not be patched and would need to be replaced. I was okay with that. While he was giving me a quote, I was trying to reach my husband, who was in a work meeting across town, to make sure he agreed with purchasing a new tire. Since I couldn't get ahold of him right away, I told the employee to go ahead and order the tire. A few moments later, I was able to speak with my husband, and he decided not to move forward with purchasing the tire. I immediately let the employee know and asked him to cancel the order and put my spare tire on instead. At that point, his attitude changed noticeably. He became irritated and repeatedly said, "This is what your wife told me to do," to my husband over the phone, as though he was unwilling to respect our decision to cancel the order. I understand it may have been frustrating to cancel after initially agreeing, but I had not paid for anything, and I informed him as soon as we made our decision. He then told me I would have to wait while my spare tire was installed, which I completely understood. However, when my car was finally ready, he called me to the counter, tossed my keys and paperwork toward me without acknowledging me, and said nothing else. I had to ask, "Am I good to go?" before he simply replied, "Yep." No explanation was given about the work that had been completed or anything I should know before leaving when the paperwork clearly stated an inspection of some sort had been done. While I appreciate the helpfulness of the first employee, the second employee's behavior left a very negative impression. I understand that plans sometimes change, but customers should still be treated with professionalism and respect. We have since scheduled an appointment with Discount Tire where the same tire is cheaper and the customer service is leaps and bounds better.
