Came here a couple of nights ago really excited for some good food. The restaurant is this cute small place with an old rustic feel. The servers were really kind and helpful when ordering. I was honestly not too hungry so I shared a steak with my boyfriend, and we got mashed potatoes and Caesar salad with it. And if I'm going to be honest, it didn't live up to my expectations. The Caesar salad had no croutons - WHAT???!?! My favorite part. They were also clearly pretty lazy since they dumped a bit of Caesar dressing on top of the salad and didn't mix it. So the salad was not a good way to start - we didn't even eat it. The steak wasn't bad. We ordered it medium and it came the perfect pink. It was pretty tender but the flavor profile lacked. The mashed potatoes were are really bland. And the gravy I could have done without. This definitely could have been an honest mistake but I also didn't appreciate that I almost ended up overpaying because my group paid part in cash and part in card and my waitress undercounted my cash and charged us on card extra. Mistakes happen but if I hadn't caught that, we would have overpaid a good amount, which makes me a little uneasy. Overall, cute place, nice people. But I don't think I'll be coming back. Didnt think that a place could do worse the second time around but these guys proved me wrong once again. I was invited by friends to go to this spot again and reluctantly went for dinner there. We ordered a variety of burgers, pasta, sandwiches, and prime rib steak. My friend and i shared the burger and the prime rib. There was nothing good about either of those items. the Shroom burger was dry as a rock, there was no flavor to the burger patty itself, the mushrooms were dry (how do you mess that up?) and the bun was dry and hard as well. I am not sure what they did but that was probably the worst burger i have eaten. And dont get me started on the prime rib. we asked for medium rare, the item as cooked closer to medium well with a small portion of the steak being barely rare if that. The cut of the meat was horrendous with nearly 1/4 of the steak being thrown out because it wasnt meat it was fat and there was even bone in it. and top it all off, all the juices of the steak were left in the plate so the steak was swimming in red juices, so much so that it dripped onto my jeans when they gave me the plate. Oh and i asked for mango mojito, the mint they threw in there were old stale mint leaves that had gone half black. And the service provided was completely atrocious with one server for a table of 12/13 people, orders being mixed up, burgers served well done when asked for medium rare or medium rare when asked for well done. Either the kitchen and the server cant communicate properly or the kitchen doesnt know how to actually do anything other than well done. There is no way i can go back to this place or recommend anyone going back there. read more

Fairly new HALAL steakhouse other than Affy's in Brooklyn so here's my take - I ordered the Onion Rings ($6.95) instead of fries because I am an onion ring fanatic and have been on a quest to find the perfect onion ring. ONE RING TO RULE THEM ALL. Any who, one bite into these rings and my mouth was flooded with the oil that was trapped within the rings. It was uncomfortable and distasteful. I would not order those again. For drinks I had a non-alcoholic Mango Mojito ($4.00) which was pleasant, sweet, and refreshing unlike the passionfruit mojito which was overly sour. Finally the main course, a 12oz Ribeye Steak with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy ($26.95). The mashed potatoes were fluffy and seasoned to perfection. The steak was just a tad under-seasoned but that was easily fixed with table salt or the A1 sauce provided. It was juicy, well cooked, and cut like butter. Not the absolute best ribeye steak I have had but it is certainly up there. Lastly, let us discuss the wait-staff. The woman that was serving us would disappear constantly and was never around when we needed her. I had to look towards the servers from other tables just to receive napkins or refills or if I had any general questions. I would definitely come back here again as the food was very good and the prices were decent. My only critique would be to have a more attentive wait-staff. read more

Well I ate there quite a few times and I gave them a very high rating. lately I've been going in there haven't got the same quality of food maybe it is the same quality of food just not being cooked right. then I heard they got rid of two of their chefs. , Or maybe they left on their own I don't know for sure. all i know is the food does not taste the same. Maybe they should get those two men back that did so well before because I will not eat there anymore . maybe I'll try it once more but if it's not as good as I first went there they just lost a customer. when you have something good especially employees try not to lose them. read more

I'm not sure as to why this place have 3.5 stars, but we found this awesome tavern while looking for something to eat today. My mother in law and I both had the lamb chops and they were awesome. The grilled veggies and mashed potatoes were good too. My wife had the surf and turf and was very satisfied. The prices were awesome and we were surprised that 5 good sized lamb chops were only 27 bucks!!! When I'm back in NY I'll be patronizing this place again. The few times I've came here is got the following: - Ribs (best halal ribs in NY and I love the ribs at The halal restaurant in Brooklyn but this officially took over as my favorite) - Steaks (NY strip, t bone, ribeye) steaks are premium grade and always cooked to the temperatures I like, medium rare. - Chicken sandwich probably the best in NY - smokehouse burger, juicy Lucy, volcano. Burgers are massive and juicy. I'd recommend getting them medium. - wings are small but super flavorful. Would like them to be bigger but owners have mentioned they're small because they're organic - steak nachos are straight up slamming - their speciality drinks of mojitos and coladas are amazing. - they have good brunch too but it's served on weekends. The vibes and atmosphere at this restaurant are really good, the service is always good, and the food is A1. PRO: While the food was very inexpensive, CONS: it's just not worth dinning in. The food... do not get fooled by the pictures on Yelp. What looks like it'll be delicious, is actually very unappetizing. I had the French Toast, turkey bacon, home fries and scrambled eggs. First things first. Home fries: Who ever the chef is; please lay off the whole bottle of all seasonings. It's like you poured the bottle of seasoning on the home fries. Pancakes was disgusting! The eggs were salty as ever and had unnecessary parsley in it. Everything, my family of 10 had at the table was disgusting. I'm sorry I'm not even trying to be rude but we tried each other stuff to be unbiased and we all said the same thing about each of our plates. My mom & I were the first to tell the waiter that we couldn't even eat our food because it taste so bad, he said ok and ignored us and asked another member of our party what they wanted, seeing as though our plates came out before everyone. I had some friends who were craving steak and only eat Halal. They had wanted to try this place and I complied. Full disclaimer, I don't strictly eat Halal, so I eat at steakhouses of all levels To be frank, I wasn't surprised by any of the items. We had steak, lamb chops, and a number if sides. I was underwhelmed. I understand there may not be many "halal steak" options in restaurant, but I'd prefer having a halal burger elsewhere. Not worth the wait. The steaks have always been decent but there is much to be desired with the other items on the menu. Stopped ordering burgers after three bad experiences. In two instances, the burgers were dry, overcooked and tasteless. In a third instance, the burger was too salty. Went there twice in the last week and don't think we will be going again. Ordered the French onion soup with dinner on Monday. The soup was so salty that we couldn't finish even a quarter of the same bowl. Mentioned it to the waiter and he had no explanation or resolution. This morning we went for brunch. I ordered corned beef hash with my omelette and was served tater-tots with chopped up hot dogs. It looked so bad that I had to return it. The explanation was that they are out of potatoes and beef. My wife's Mediterranean omelette was missing the feta cheese. Seems like they want to improvise by just throwing ingredients together and it leads to consistently inconsistent food and, at least in our case, a disappointing experience. read more

Great service, really nice waiter. But really bad food. This was my second time here and I hoped for a better experience but unfortunately I was disappointed once again We had brunch. The waffles tasted sour/like vinegar. It was so bad we had to send it back. We asked for pancakes instead and they were OK. I ordered Sunnyside eggs and the whites weren't even cooked, way too raw. The turkey bacon was soggy and not crispy at all. We came here for brunch. Unfortunately it was a very poor experience. I feel bad for the owners and staff, as this place makes up their livelihood and I'm sure people have invested loads of money, time and effort to get it going. However, it's clear that when you cut corners whether it's on ingredients, cooking technique, hiring the right chefs, this sort of review inevitable. This establishment would benefit from hiring a restaurant/food consultant. The waffles were made from stale batter and we could smell and taste something really sour upon biting in. We sent those back and got pancakes instead which were ok. The omelette was dry and over cooked. The bacon was soggy rather than crispy and I felt like I had poured a spoonful of oil into my mouth upon biting in. The whites in the sunny side eggs were raw. The best part was the side of fresh fruit brought with the meal; it really was fresh. The service was not bad either. They seemed attentive to our needs but after sending the waffle back we felt bad telling them to take our other dishes back too. Portion sizes are good and the prices are great too. Was the best affordable steakhouse I've eaten in America and I've travelled through the different states. Literally just have a 14oz New York strip steak with mashed potatoes as a side. The brown gravy that came along with the mashed potatoes was exceptionally good. I hate to give a halal establishment a bad review, but hopefully they may benefit from it. I've tried 3 items from their menu. The steak I got was not well seasoned and tasted like rubber. And I I must have gotten a terrible cut, because it was mostly fat. The fries were pure oil. The juicy Lucy tasted very salty. I could barely finish it. The chicken tenders may have been the best thing I've tasted from their menu, but it was solid at best. The other issue, they don't have that many options on their menu, which was kinda annoying. Service was pretty decent and looked pretty clean. So that's always a plus. Saved it from being a 1 star. read more

The steak is great, volcano burger is delicious. I love their nachos! The only thing is sometimes the restaurant does get busy and they do not take reservations. This is the best steak house east of Valley Stream, this steak is a prime example to how steak should be prepared (no pun intended). The beauty of the New York Strip is the buttery outer layer, just charcoaled in the heat for several seconds, to deliver a smokey, yet flavorful taste. However, if you enjoy the saucier, more impactful taste of fat and meat, go for the rib eye, because the charred beef skin, soaked in butter and flavorful sauces, will leave you urging for a second bite. Lastly, the Sirloin is the king of the sauces. Glazed to perfection, and prepared with the more delicate touch, this beef is the most tender, the most well prepared and sauciest of them all. After trying all three steaks, I have concluded that the ribeye is the best due to it's rich and savory umami. As for the sides, the steak fries are delicious, at times, I thought they were marinated, however they are just normal steak fries. The wings are marinated to most elite of flavors. The garlic parmesan wings puts shame to other establishments that cater to only wings. These wings deliver powerful flavors of cheese and garlic, with the sauce thick in the parmesan. Lastly, the virgin mojitos are very good. The juice concoction is delivers waves of tangy and sweet flavors. The barista is an expert in the creation of this juice. The owners of this establishment are the greatest. I recommend this location for any casual eats, and birthdays or celebrations. We (4 of us) cruised through the menu and ordered the following, 1.14oz Ribeye Steak - We ordered two of these both well done (I know disgraceful but thats how they like it). Quality of meat was sub-par and not well seasoned. It came with house salad which was lame and fries which was not bad. Not much filling for $30 plate. Overall 2/5 2.Smokehouse Burger - I order it medium well because I'm respectful. Nice amount of meat for a pattie with Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, lettuce, on a brioche bun. The pattie wasn't seasoned so I had to season it myself. The bottom bun was a bit soggy. Not much taste from this burger. Overall it was 2/5 burger. 3.Juciy Lucy - I ordered it medium well as well (that's fun to say out loud). So this isn't your typical Juciy Lucy which has cheedar cheese oozing out from inside the pattie, it was just cheddar cheese on top of the pattie. The burger was juciy and definitely 1/2lbs but he fact it wasn't an actual Juicy Lucy mad me sad. Also had to season it myself. I give it 4/5 and recommend getting this. 4.Chicken Alfredo - I know ordering a pasta dish at a steakhouse is completely disgraceful yet alone any chicken/fish/veggie dish. Just don't come to a steak house. But that was one of the guys we were with, despicable. Overall the chicken was good and the pasta was al-dente but they over loaded it Alfredo sauce, like went h.a.m with it...Overall 3/5 A good steakhouse for me is good quality of meat, seasoned well, filling, and overall value matches the price. This one sadly didn't. I doubt I'll be coming back. But if you're in the area and checking it out along with this review, get yourself the Juicy Lucy (medium well) and stay away from the virigin drinks (club soda with flavored mixers weren't anything great). I went here on a Wednesday with a large group of about 8 people. Most of us got the Volcano burger which was amazingly flavourful! It was so massive I could've hardly fit a bite. Great option if you can only eat halal. The mojitos (virgin of course) were amazing too. Very hustle bustle ambiance with a lot of parties there. Interior is nice, looks like a regular American Steak House. I'll start off by stating that the place is nice, food is good/average and prices are high in my opinion. Mango Mojito: interesting flavor and the person I was wish enjoyed it. Garlic Parmesan Wings: $10 for very small wings was over priced. I will say the Garlic Parmesan Wings are worth a try as many reviewers mentioned. We were disappointed with how small the wings were. I think it was 8 wings which would be great if they weren't bite size, maybe we got a small batch. The flavor was unique and we liked them. Lamb chops: major disappointment and very over priced for how thin they were. With Sam's being mostly an American style establishment we were surprised that the lamb chops were flavored desi style and cooked and seasoned as though an aunty made them, it also came with a side of some chutney that wasn't good. For $24 that was the main disappointment of the night. They should definitely consider serving the lamb chops as they do the steak (American style) butter, salt, pepper and some herbs. Have the homemade desi style with chutney as a different option on the menu. Also the chops should be thicker and juicier vs well done and thin. Ribeye Steak: pretty good steak, cooked accurately but nothing special. The side salad is small and basic, its mixed greens with few cucumber and tomatoes chucks on top. I had mixed vegetables and they were average as well. I really wish they would visit Addy's in Teaneck NJ and try their mushroom onion dipping sauce as well as a their peppercorn sauce that comes with their steaks. If Sam's could add some dipping sauces made from their steak juices it'd be more worth the money then a basic grilled steak. Staff was normal & nice. There was only 1 infant seat that worked, the other 1 didnt buckle which became difficult when we and 2 other tables all needed seating for our infant/toddlers. I'd recommend getting 2-3 more high chairs. I'd also recommend giving biscuits/bread and butter if the pricing is closer to a regular steak house. I think with a few more enhancements they could keep the pricing on the higher side and get more customer coming back, as for now I dont plan on coming back. I've been here a few times now and the food is always great here! I always encourage friends to check this place out as the food doesn't and the staff is great! I've had a good amount of their dishes and they're all delicious but their burgers are what I usually go back for. I've brought some pretty picky eaters here who have all loved their meals. It's great to have access to a great Zabiha restaurant like this that specializes in steaks, burgers and great drinks!
