Yet they claimed I threatened the employee ha! I wouldn't risk everything I have going for myself for a 40 year old bartender who has to steal from customers. Nothing that will blow your mind but it's a fun place to camp out, enjoy drinks/food, and have outdoor seating options. We were starving after our flight, checked into our hotel and walked over to Sams. We were craving a burger, it's open seating so you can pick your own table. We sat down, took a quick look at the menu and ordered a burger and salad. I was shocked at how small my husbands burger was. I mean it was smaller than a McDonald's cheeseburger. They do have endless fries so that helped him fill up. My salad was pretty good, nice presentation and can't really go wrong with a Cobb salad. Nothing special. read more

I could not be more disappointed by the lack of service and attention from the server with the long blond hair that waited on us this evening. Not only was the food mediocre at best, the server did the absolute bare minimum that was required of her. We were never offered a refill on our weak and overpriced drinks. We had to ask for silverware from the food runner, and our server ignored every attempt I made to get her attention so we could get our check and get out of there. Very poor experience overall. The magic mushroom burger I ordered was much smaller than it used to be, the fries were cold and came with a small cup of ketchup. I would have asked for mustard if I'd had some service. Why did I not take a photo of the crazy Bloody Mary?! It was $15, I think, and had so much stuff sticking out of it, including a tiny burger and a little Vienna sausage. It was definitely photo-worthy, but I was distracted by work, I guess. It was worth the price and I would get it again. Jalapeño Reno burger was better than the chili cheeseburger. The chili isn't bad, but it's not spicy, either, and wasn't particularly memorable. You do get a lot of it on your burger, though. Service is so-so. It started off pretty bad (no acknowledgment whatsoever for at least 10 mins, even though it was dead; I was actually about to leave when I was finally approached). It got better as time went on. None of the locations (SLU, Capitol Hill, or Bellevue) will answer their phones. The phone number for each location is listed on Google, but was verified by their own website. When dialed, SLU's number says, "your call cannot be completed at this time." When dialed, Capitol Hill's number rings and rings and eventually goes to a voicemail box that is full. When dialed, Bellevue's number says, "the call cannot be completed at this time." Even the chat feature on their website says, "Failed!! Try again," when you try to contact the restaurant. Why have this feature if you cannot even reach someone? I tried from multiple different phones and from a laptop. read more

First experience was about 3.5 stars since I had decent service, but the burger wasn't that great. However, they do have good fries which are bottomless so that takes the Sting out of the $14 price tag. If all you want is ambiance, they do have a nice patio and a decent atmosphere. They did have many burnt out lights in the various string lights hanging from the ceiling, which to me shows a lack of focus from management on the details, or that they're going for the "neglected hipster bar" look. I'm not sure which... Next time I went, we waited and waited but were never even greeted by the bartender. Given that we were seated at the bar and that she passed by us multiple times, I'm bringing my review down to a solid 2 stars. Their happy hour menu is not really apparent... You have to know it's there. They don't really advertise it or tell you about it before you order, so I'm guessing they prefer to maximize their profit over your customer service. I recommend heading down the street to Local Public Eatery where the service, food and happy hour is quite a bit better than Sam's. read more

I wasn't sure if it was going to be an open menu, but it ended up being a buffet style catering. We had sliders, chicken strips, chips, salsa, guacamole fries, they may have even been something seafood related, I'm not sure since I don't eat seafood. Honestly, the food was pretty good. The sliders tasted like quality beef. The chicken was above average, but it should have been brined, with more flavor it would have been top shelf. Fries were decent, but I am going to assume they weren't crisp because they were sitting around waiting for the tray to be full. The big surprise was the guacamole. It was hands down some of the best I've ever had, so either they have a secret recipe, or someone has perfected food service guacamole, because this was a flavor explosion. In true hindsight, the food was a B and had it been made fresh for me, I'd probably bump it up to an A. In general, the menu here is simple and that works, as long as your food is tasty, you don't need to have pages and pages. Perfect what you got and serve as much as you can. All in all I'd come back, but only by invitation. There are places I like better for burgers, chicken and Mexican, so I'd rather have the best then return to the rest. Awesome junk food cheat day, this is a super delicious treat 100% worth the calories. I have had the waffle fries with aioli before, hard to mess that up. I'm such a sucker for anything with eggs, so of course, I ordered their Eggs Broadway Burger. It comes with white Vermont cheddar, bacon, fried egg, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. My bf ordered the Aloha Burger, which comes with their burger marinated in teriyaki sauce, grilled pineapple, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. He also asked that his fries come extra crispy. I was expecting to have the same quality burger as Red Robin. But to my surprise, the burger patty texture and taste was like it was homemade! I'm an average sized Asian girl, so I don't normally eat a ton of food. But I cleaned up my burger and my fries that night! If you're like me and love burgers, I highly recommend Sam's Tavern. This was my first visit to a Sam's Tavern but I can say I will certainly visit again! This location is easy to find and street parking was available and free on a Friday at 6pm. The place was busy, packed actually but our group had a reservation. I would guess that a reservation is a good bet for any night at the South Lake Union location! Natalie was our server and she was great. She made sure our large group had plenty of space and was always around at the right time. Service was quick and I never had an empty drink. We ordered some bites off the happy hour menu which offered a nice variety of options. I had the BLT and my husband got the burger. Neither comes with fries but they are both just $7 so you can order them separate if you want! My sandwich was awesome and my husband said his burger was delicious too. I have to say I was a little hesitant on how this place would be considering how busy it was but everything was just right. I was even impressed with how clean the restroom was on such a busy night! Sam's...a surprisingly good pub! I've visited Sam's on a few occasions for lunch and happy hour, but today for a mix of happy hour and dinner. The group of ya arrived just before happy hour ended to grab some discounted drinks and apps. We chose this place specifically because it was dog-friendly and it was very friendly! The waitress loved our dogs and it was so nice to be in an establishment where we didn't have to worry about leaving them at home. I ordered the mandarin chicken salad and my hubby got the chicken tender burger. My salad was absolutely the silent winner, fresh veggies and grilled chicken. I could not have been happier. The chicken burger was good and came with bottomless fries. The staff doesn't push the bottomless fries, so you definitely need to ask for more. We also came on Tuesday because on their website it says that they have a Trivia Night. Not sure if it was just the small crowd or it was cancelled, but we were a little disappointed that it didn't happen. Thank goodness for good friends, food, and drinks. Trying to have a constructive conversation with the owner/manager about why one of the burgers is still frozen in the middle and the other is so over cooked it's hard will get you nowhere except pointed to the door or from reading more comment replies from him on here..."bully blasted on the internet". Bacon Burgers are scrumptious and come in regular or mini sized. Buffalo Wings with Blue Cheese sprinkles are spectacular. Wings not over spiced, just right for a nibble. However them gem is the chilli in this joint. The chili is thick & rich and filled with meaty boulders of flesh. I was blown how much meat was in my bowl. It's no vegan treat but then again meat is not murder it's a lifestyle and Frank loves it. Now before you leave, Frank insists you have a Bloody Mary, cause what's life without a good one. ( Am I wrong ) However you may option to order this spicy vodka delight super sized with mini burger and almost a garden salad stuffed into it. Wildly mediocre food and super crummy service. We came here to watch a hockey game, so the place was somewhat busy but there were still several tables open. We waited 20 minutes before someone took our drink order. We mentioned that the table hadn't been bussed or cleaned yet, but the server that took our order didn't bus the table when she left even though she acknowledged that it was dirty. We ended up bussing our own tables and asked for a bleach rag to wipe down our own table - luckily the server insisted on wiping down our table at that point. Two of us got the 50/50 burger, but one of them didn't have bacon or avocado. At that point we accepted our fate and just ate it as is because we knew it would take too long for them to fix the mistake. We asked for waters for the table twice, but never got them so we finally just grabbed waters and cups, along with some sauces, from the server station. After finishing dinner, we asked for our tab, even though we never got one of the beers we had ordered when the server took our food order...like 40 minutes prior. They must have been short-staffed, so I get it to some degree, but to be honest that's not really my problem. Don't seat tables if you don't have the capacity to serve them or at least the server could have mentioned being short staffed or apologized for it. read more

I used to go to Sam's between 6-8 times per year. I've only been 3 times this year and I think tonight was the last time. The service has been so poor, I had to ask my spouse if it's become some sort of bit they've committed to where they treat customers like crap. It's a terrible feeling where the act of ordering food or requesting a refill that you've waited for 20+ minutes for and your server acts like you're an absolute burden to them. Zero friendliness. My salad never came which I wasn't able to tell anyone about because no one checked on us or asked how things were. My soda was empty before my meal was delivered (which my server looked at as she dropped our food and kept walking by without saying a word) and my meal was gone before a refill came (and this was after I waited long enough that I finally went up to the bar to ask for one - and was told no by the bartender and that the server would bring one) and I still waited ten more minutes. Every time I said thank you after ordering or after refill arrived she said "mhm" as her main reply. So I got myself a tiny water cup at the self serve. The food is good/fast, and the location is convenient but I'm not going to spend any more money here to be treated rudely for the most basic customer needs. I'm really sad to lose Sam's in the pre-hockey game rotation but am done. I worked a very long time in the service industry and it's been years since I felt I truly had to leave a a below 20% tip (before tonight). Please either hire new staff or get help for the current staff so they can at provide even remotely good service again. read more

This is my first time at Sam's and this salad is incredible! It is the Chinese Chicken Salad. So delicious and blew me away. I will definitely be coming back! My waiter Spencer, is awesome too. He is super attentive and because it is outdoor seating. My boyfriend stopped by to say hello. Waiter asked if I knew him, I said, yes. He made sure I wasn't be harassed by people. And appetizers. All the food from the onion rings, to the sliders, nachos etc. Were very good! Service was also decent for how busy they were.
