This is my first time at Sam's and this salad is incredible! It is the Chinese Chicken Salad. So delicious and blew me away. I will definitely be coming back! My waiter Spencer, is awesome too. He is super attentive and because it is outdoor seating. My boyfriend stopped by to say hello. Waiter asked if I knew him, I said, yes. He made sure I wasn't be harassed by people. Came here for an after work event network. This place was packed but is located in a prime area and this was during the week. Overall I liked the atmosphere but it is definitely not somwhere to come to talk. The music was very loud and hard to have a conversation. We got drinks (their pink lemonade mule was amazing!) And appetizers. All the food from the onion rings, to the sliders, nachos etc. Were very good! Service was also decent for how busy they were. There isn't really parking besides going into a garage but that's what you do in this area. Overall I would come back for sure. One other thing I loved was that they were dog friendly. read more

Wildly mediocre food and super crummy service. We came here to watch a hockey game, so the place was somewhat busy but there were still several tables open. We waited 20 minutes before someone took our drink order. We mentioned that the table hadn't been bussed or cleaned yet, but the server that took our order didn't bus the table when she left even though she acknowledged that it was dirty. We ended up bussing our own tables and asked for a bleach rag to wipe down our own table - luckily the server insisted on wiping down our table at that point. Two of us got the 50/50 burger, but one of them didn't have bacon or avocado. At that point we accepted our fate and just ate it as is because we knew it would take too long for them to fix the mistake. We asked for waters for the table twice, but never got them so we finally just grabbed waters and cups, along with some sauces, from the server station. After finishing dinner, we asked for our tab, even though we never got one of the beers we had ordered when the server took our food order...like 40 minutes prior. They must have been short-staffed, so I get it to some degree, but to be honest that's not really my problem. Don't seat tables if you don't have the capacity to serve them or at least the server could have mentioned being short staffed or apologized for it. read more

I used to go to Sam's between 6-8 times per year. I've only been 3 times this year and I think tonight was the last time. The service has been so poor, I had to ask my spouse if it's become some sort of bit they've committed to where they treat customers like crap. It's a terrible feeling where the act of ordering food or requesting a refill that you've waited for 20+ minutes for and your server acts like you're an absolute burden to them. Zero friendliness. My salad never came which I wasn't able to tell anyone about because no one checked on us or asked how things were. My soda was empty before my meal was delivered (which my server looked at as she dropped our food and kept walking by without saying a word) and my meal was gone before a refill came (and this was after I waited long enough that I finally went up to the bar to ask for one - and was told no by the bartender and that the server would bring one) and I still waited ten more minutes. Every time I said thank you after ordering or after refill arrived she said "mhm" as her main reply. So I got myself a tiny water cup at the self serve. The food is good/fast, and the location is convenient but I'm not going to spend any more money here to be treated rudely for the most basic customer needs. I'm really sad to lose Sam's in the pre-hockey game rotation but am done. I worked a very long time in the service industry and it's been years since I felt I truly had to leave a a below 20% tip (before tonight). Please either hire new staff or get help for the current staff so they can at provide even remotely good service again. read more

I got the sams 50 burger which is 50% beef and 50% bacon with bacon on top and a bacon jam, with fries. Trust me when I say if you are a bacon lover it is well worth it because every single bite is filled with that oh so fantastic bacon flavor you know and love. Not a hockey bar. First ever Kracken home playoff game and only one tv on home town team. Pay for view boxing (with audio), another hockey playoff, and NBA playoffs. The music here was amazing!! It brought memories of my college dance class days! The environment is fun hipster vibe and the food was amazing! They have a full bar so you can order away! I ordered the chicken tender sandwich with aioli sauce, it was so crispy and the chicken just melted in my mouth. Literally one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had. I ate the whole sandwich!! I never eat my whole sandwich, I usually get full but I just couldn't stop. I mean we did just fly in, but I still know the sandwich was superior. They have bottomless fries and water is available on your table. My husband ordered the vegetarian burger, which he never does so I was surprised. He really enjoyed it and maybe now he'll get more vegetarian meats from his experience. We both got a drink, my usual pineapple and rum. My husband ordered a old fashion. They were enjoyable. This place gets an automatic 5 stars for being one of the only bars to be playing the UFC fight this weekend. I seriously went to Belltown, pioneer SQ, BWW and then finally SLU. The bar tenders were on top of it and made great drinks and there was no cover charge to watch the game. Came here with the exception that it's going to be full of unhealthy bar food, which I was right. Great venue for celebrations as the establishment is spacious. On weekends, they have a DJ which I love hearing hood music. The food selection of course had to suffer, but at least they let us bring in our own cake which was the best part of my meal that evening. I think this is a sister restaurant for Red Robin's, they serve steak fries also, but all the fries we received that night were burnt. Don't waste your time with this place. Go to Thomas Street Warehouse instead. We were told to try out Sam's and I really wanted to like it but I had to actually walk out on my server and leave cash on the table for my bill because I hadn't seen our waitress, or any other staff, in over 20 minutes. That is absolutely ridiculous. First, we had to sit at a dirty table for somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes before a server came up and asked if anyone had come and greeted us. Obviously our answer was no, and then she said someone would be with us soon. A waitress finally comes and we order drinks and it took forever. That part, I understand is not the waitresses fault, so I'll let it slide. But once our drinks finally arrived, she never returned to check on us; not to ask how it was, not to ask if we wanted food, not to ask if I wanted another drink, or even to ask if I wanted the check. I waited probably 20 minutes with NO CONTACT from any employees and then walked out. I left cash on the table to cover the alcohol price, but absolutely did not leave a tip for the shitty service I got here. Thank goodness we found another bar up the road. read more

This review is for Bloody Mary's only. Sam's claims to have won the best Bloody Mary on their Website. I am really not sure exactly how that happened... We got the regular Mary, not the deluxe that apparently has a slider on top. I don't do gluten so that wasn't an option for me. The bartender came outside and took our order, we were the only diners on the patio at that point. A few minutes later they were delivered. This was a big glass of tomato juice with a whole lot of raw garlic chunks. Garnished with one Spanish olive and a lime wedge. Seriously, I felt like I was drinking a tonic to ward off vampires. Soooo much raw garlic to the point that were strategizing how to possibly use the lime wedge as a possible filter (That was a bad idea). Where were the usual spices and Bloody Mary flavors? Sadly I could not even finish my cocktail. And we both felt terrible after. The two stars are for the outdoor patio with the beautiful sunshine, and the good Covid 19 measures. Conveniently located in SLU for all the Amazonian's out there. Right outside of Brazil. Needless to say, you're bound to run into people you know, especially after work around HH. A group of 12 came for a team late lunch and were pleasantly surprised that there wasn't a massive crowd until closer to 5. The staff was friendly and the food and drinks came out very quickly. It was also nice to be in a place where there was music but you could actually hear others in your group speak. I'm sure this changes later in the day, but it was a nice perk. They claim to have the best Bloody Mary's in Seattle, so a few of us ordered those to make sure we could cross them off our list. They were good! But I wouldn't say they were best in town. We also didn't order the super elaborate ones like the ones that have burgers and bacon sticking out of them. I ordered the Juicy Lucy burger ( Brie, grilled onions, cream cheese, secret sauce - minus onions for me) and it was VERY good. I was sort of bummed when I found a long blonde hair in the second half of the burger because that made me not only lose my appetite but also not get to finish the burger. Met up with friends to watch a game and we weren't the ones with that idea- clearly a popular spot... had the mushroom burger- generous pile of seasoned mushrooms and overall good flavor but the meat was well done so a little dry. Came with fries that were fine, didn't need the endless offering ... Also ordered the brownie with ice cream - brownie came out cold so had it sent back to be nuked which improved it significantly. Service was fine, especially given how packed it was, but we did have to flag down folks a few times... Also been here in the summer when the patio is open which is great... Went during covid, and it seemed pretty safe, but also there were just pretty few people the night that we went. I got a Cobb salad and my boyfriend got a burger, both of which were pretty standard and not that special, but that was okay because we went for the bloody Mary's and they definitely didn't disappoint. The thing that really turned me off was the minuscule portion size of soup. For an $11 bowl of soup, I received a portion smaller than a cup size. I've tried reaching out over social media to clarify if there was a mistake on the portion but haven't received a response. For a place that advertises "great food", I expected more. I came here on a whim with some friends and I'll definitely have to return again! Outdoor patio and open floor plan make the bar inviting and spacious. Definitely a great place to enjoy the sunshine and drink a couple beers on their outdoor picnic tables. The staff were efficient and very on top of it. They have a great grub/appetizer selection and pretty good choices of draft beers - especially if you enjoy IPAs. The music was great if you enjoy dancing. We went in to Sam's Tavern for an hour and a half lunch break. We walked in and saw a sign that says "sit yo self" my group decided to find a booth next to the window. We waited about 10min before we were notice and we got waters and one coke. The server said she will brb with the coke. 10min pass and we got nothing. We were waiting to put in an order and 10min pass and we did not get helped at all.... She finally came to us 50min later and asked if we gotten help and we told her no.... Nobody helped us! This would be a very cool place for happy hour and to hang for the night but the service here is terrible. Came in for happy hour and sat at the bar. I asked for a glass of water until I decided what I wanted to eat, the bartender got me my water and then walked away, and a couple minutes later he came back and I even had to ask him for a menu. There were two bartenders and neither one of them asked me if my food was ok while I had it and they walked by me many times. This place was great! Quick service, cold beer, delicious burger, and probably too many fries, but that's on me. Not sure what the complaints are about service.
