I first used Samson and Sons many years ago when the air conditioner stopped working in the middle of summer. They were the only company that didn't make me wait a week. The problem was diagnosed and fixed. I have used them ever since. There has never been an attempt to upsell. If something can be fixed, they very capably do that. When I wanted a mini-split in one room, it was properly sized. I love it! Most recently, I had my house reroofed and the roofer bent the condensate drip line, which burned out the condensate pump. Dylan quickly knew the problem was with the pump. Then he wanted to make sure it was draining properly. That was when he discovered the line had been bent. He fixed that and everything is working fine. I recommend Samson and Sons without reservation. read more

Seems like these guys don't need my review, but I will give it anyway! They helped us with financing when we couldn't really afford to buy a system flat out. But we paid it off quickly. Our home had a swamp cooler and a furnace; it costs us a fortune to heat our home in the winter, and our home never got very cool in the summer. We would get massive energy bills in the winter (we're talking $600ish dollars). We got a great deal from Samson and Sons, with financing. The financing company had some pretty bad reviews, but we really didn't have any issues with them. We also paid off our balance within a year. With our balance paid off, we needed a checkup. Most companies stop caring about you once you've paid (they got your money, why do they care?). But Samson and Sons came out the day we called for some simple maintenance (literally about an hour wait, on short notice). They fixed the issue, and haven't had an issue since! We've had the system for about 5 years now, and any time we call them (for routine checkups), they schedule us for a checkup without hesitation. Always friendly, and always willing to make any problems right. The techs have been extremely friendly and happy to help. read more

I was told by 2 of the big size HVAC companies in town that my compressor was not working and too old to replace including the whole unit was too old to find parts. I then set up meetings with both to discuss quotes for a complete new unit. After those meetings, my neighbor suggested I reach out to Samson And Sons. I did thinking I may get a better quote for replacing my unit. Dylan, the technician, came out and I explained the issue and asked about a quote for a new unit as I knew the size I needed. Dylan asked if he could look at my old unit before we discuss a new one. "Maybe I can fix it". In no less than 10 minutes, Dylan told me it was the contact switch to the compressor and not the compressor and, he had the part with him. I had an ac outage on eve of 4th of July and made a desperate attempt to call around, pretty much leaving messages. An hour later I got a call back saying Dylan would be out between 9 and 11 am got a call at 10 from Dylan saying he would be about 20 minutes. 18 minutes later he showed up and was done diagnosing and repairing (was a capacitor), and accepted my payment by 10:44. Wow, not what I expected over a holiday weekend. Efficient, extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Just amazing in this day and age to get this kind of friendly, competent service. Had them replace 2 A/C units in August 2022. They were here from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with 5-6 men working on removing the old units and installing the new ones. They were courteous, efficient, and took the time at the end of a very long day to explain the new units. Just had the winter tune-up service for the units with Dylan. He was on time and completed what he needed to do within 30 minutes or so. He listened to and addressed our concerns and was very helpful. Excellent service all around! read more

Another well-deserved 5-star review for Samson and Sons! For anyone wondering if all these great reviews are real (like I kind of wondered!) let me say this one is real, and I suspect all the others are too. We have been in our house for 2 years in Marana and the A/C is original to the house, so 40 years old. It has never worked that well. We had at least 4 different A/C companies come out sent by our home warranty company. Each one had a different idea, and each idea failed after 2 weeks or so. We finally went out on our own and found Samson and Sons on Yelp and are so glad we did. Jose came out and diagnosed the problem within minutes and we set up an appointment for the following week. Jose and Kyle showed up right on time, texted to say they were on their way, and were in and out in about 2 hours, as they'd estimated. The cost was fair and came with a follow up visit in a few months, and a 1-year warranty. We've gone from being miserable in our hot home to being cool and comfortable. He is an outstanding young man that provides great customer service and answered all my questions without hesitation. I am a person who shops for the best price, best service, quality, and employee/business honesty. I believe I found that this business hit the mark on all areas. I got a quote from 6 air condition companies from big name to local names, and the price ranges were comparable, but this company won me over with honesty. They explained everything and were open with what they were going to install and provided the manufacturing numbers in advance. They showed up on time and as I watched them work you could tell that quality was important. You may be able to find Air Conditioner companies that quote lower prices, but I believe if I have a problem or need basic service they will be there when I call. read more

So glad I found Mark at Samson and Sons (here on Yelp) to install a new heat pump at my parents' house. He was the best quote out of five total that we obtained, and his great price did not at all affect the quality of service and professionalism. He was super responsive on yelp chat and email, and provided estimates and invoices via email attachments. He even texted me updates when they were on the way, and when the various steps were completed, keeping my parents and I informed of status through the entire process. The installation was completed quickly in half a day, and everything worked great and the house is nice and toasty now. The quality of the final invoice even blew me away, it was 12 pages long and included many photos of the final installation for our reference. Mark and his team are the real deal. They don't return phone calls, even for a job that they said we needed when we had them here for something unrelated. After they never called us back, we contacted two other companies that, after inspection, said we didn't need the very expensive repair that Samson wanted to do so it does make me wonder. Also, when the technician came for the initial job, he "serviced" our unit without asking us if we wanted or needed it done. He just did it even though he was not here for that. We paid and it was not cheap. I am not sure why we trusted this company and called them back to schedule the expensive repair but I am glad they didn't call us back. read more

My heater was operating intermittently since last February. I called another repair place and they came out about 4 times and didn't fix it. On another recommendation from a neighbor, I called Samson and Sons, and they promptly came out and diagnosed the problem. Within about a week they had the original unit repaired and everything worked perfectly. It has been several weeks now without a problem. Both the time required to repair the unit and the cost both came in under the price quote. I wish I could give them an A+. No doubt I'll call them if I have any future problems. I was very pleased with Jose's help on diagnosing the issue with my AC. My AC unit had suddenly stopped working and Jose came to check out the issue. Not only was he mindful of the pandemic and wearing his mask correctly throughout our whole encounter, he explained the issue with my AC clearly and answered my questions. He explained that the R22 Freon in my AC was low and what the cost would be to refill it. He also said that there may be additional issues but it was too soon to tell as I've never had my AC serviced before. My AC went down on Tuesday, talked with Mark, he was able to give me a great quote on a new AC unit, and that they would be able to have it installed by Saturday. True to his word, a crew came by, removed the old unit, and put the new unit in, and answered all my questions. Wouldn't you know it!! Our a/c unit went out on us in the peak of summer! The hottest part of the year! We've had Sampson and sons maintaining our unit for the 7 years we've been living here and they've always been fair and most importantly HONEST!! Our 26 year old crane was struggling and once in a while it would make a weird noise when it ran too long so they came out and told us we should replace it soon but my husband saw the maintenance guy run water through the louvers and it ran better for a week then my husband did the same thing but also placed an umbrella over it to keep the sun off of it at the hottest part of the day. Well that worked for about 2 weeks then one morning we woke up to a hot house. NO MORE A/C!! This was on a Thursday. We called S and S and they told us they'd be able to come on the following Monday to replace it and the attic fan. So we packed up the dogs and went to the Hilton hotel for a 3 night stay! Our doggies loved it!! Sampson and Sons came at 6:00 am and worked extremely hard in the hot house and completed the excellent work at a timely manner! I can't speak more highly of them!! They were awesome and did a fantastic job! They even cleaned up behind them as if no one was even in the house at all! We highly recommend this fantastic company to anyone needing service or a new ac and heating unit! They ARE AWESOME!!! P.S they replaced it with a 5 ton Rheem! They were able to respond with a few days of my call regarding an unknown reason why our A/C system was not functioning. They are VERY experienced and knew the layout of the system as soon as they stepped into the house, they knew exactly where everything was in the house and diagnosed the issue within minutes. A previous well known company came in before and took hours to "diagnose" the issue - only for them to give up and say we had to pay an exorbitant amount to replace most of the system. I scheduled two companies to come look at my AC. The first company came, looked into my unit, saw a wet coil and told me I needed a new coil plus freon. Since I had an older unit R22 would be required. Ball park estimate of $3000 which would be half way to a new unit. After looking inside the house at that unit they said that price might be low. I asked for three quotes, one for the repair, one for a like for like unit, and one for a new heat pump (I have solar and thinking about going all electric). They never got back to me with an actual estimate (?) Samson and Son showed up the next day, looked at my unit and said "this is in here wrong did someone look at it already?" I told him I had a quote to replace the coil. He could tell that they had not taken the unit apart to inspect it and he quickly did this and determined it was a leak not in the coil but in the line to the coil. This he could fix - no new coil needed. Adding the freon and the estimate was $1400. He also corrected a few statements about old vs new vs substitute freon the last guy told me. When filling the unit he found the valves were also bad. A little more money, but in the end still much less than a new coil. The air is cold and I'm happy. This will get me by until I can save up to replace the whole unit. Hopefully in a few years. I'll be calling these guys again. read more

My mistake with Samson and Son was that they were initially my second choice. That won't happen again, and I encourage you to learn from my error! Make Samson and Son your first choice for AC install & repair. My 25 yr old AC unit could not keep up with the new demands that my working from home schedule imposed, and it died during an August heat wave when Tucson enjoyed record highs. I was doing computer work for 9 hours a day in 92f heat in my house while looking for a company to install a new unit. After being misled by one company (see my other reviews) I agreed to use Samson and Son for a new 5 ton split gas American Standard unit. I called and agreed on Tuesday, a tech came out and made measurements and collected our deposit on Wednesday, and by Friday night our house was comfortable and the new AC was running fine. The install was not easy; the Samson crew modified some terrible work from the previous home owner's install and sealed up our air flow and ducting, as well as properly attaching the flue vent. They installed a custom condensation drip exit, and helped me seal off the old evaporative cooling unit tunnel. All this, and they finished on-time, in just one day. The price from Samson was competitive; the install was spectacular, and the customer service has been excellent. Preliminary measurements from my home "Sense" unit shows that the new AC unit is running with 15% better efficiency than the old unit (no doubt due to the excellent install work too) and I'm looking forward to seeing the sad face on TEP when our electric bill drops. I can't say enough good things about Mark and the folks at Samson and Sons. We noticed last Friday when the temperatures were forecast to be over a hundred for the next ten days that the temperature was climbing in our house. I checked the temp at the register and it was coming in at sixty-six degrees. An hour later it was seventy. I called three companies for a service call, knowing I was probably going to have to replace the unit, which was an older R22 model. Fast forward, the bids ranged from $6500 from Samson to over $10,000 from the other two companies, which were some of the big ones you see around town a lot. Mark's company is a smaller, family run operation. All three did a good job of customer service. Mark had a bid to me the next morning. The Reems AC he installed was rated at slightly lower efficiency than the ones from the other companies, but much more efficient than the one we had, so we were happy with that choice. They installed the AC on Wednesday. Fortunately, we had the use of a neighbor's home who is a snow bird. They arrived at about noon and were done by four. All were friendly, wore masks, and answered the few questions I asked. Here's the clincher: The crane operator drove over a small cactus in our front yard, and when they left we saw that someone had also backed into a large cactus in the driveway and pushed it over. I called Mark and he said he'd have a landscaper take care of it. I sent him a couple of pictures and that was that. The landscaper came out today and was able to save the larger cactus and will replace the smaller one. I recommend Samson highly. There's no reason to pay that much more money from the big guys when Samson does a great job and isn't trying to sell you more than what you need. I have a two-year service contract as part of the price, and I'm confident they'll do a good job and not tell me I need expensive new parts every time they come out, which has been my experience with the big guys. We bought our house in August and noticed two rooms werent getting much air, our bathroom didn't even have a vent, but just lived with that. We needed to fix the bedrooms before summer, so we had reputable company come out and take a look around and give us a quote. We were told we needed to rebuild our ducting and was given a quote. We knew about Samson and Sons from a friend, so we called them for a second opinion. They came out and agreed about the duct work, they also recommend putting in a mixing box to even out the air flow. Adding a new vent register in my daughters room and the hot bathroom. We didn't even think that was an option. They basically offered a few more options and ways to help us, we were impressed. So many details besides just doing the ducts. Yesterday they came out to do the job. This team was friendly, courteous, and efficient. Their quote wasn't much higher than the first one given so we were happy to pay it. Last night we enjoyed our first night of crisp cool air. We just woke up and I'm writing this because we are so grateful we made the call and trusted that adding the extra details would make all the difference. So many companies now a days want to do the minimum. The easiest route and take your money. We would have eventually tried to figure out the bathroom. Other companies make no effort in going above and beyond, or maybe aren't as knowledgeable in knowing what recommendations to make, who knows, Either way, we are thankful we chose Samson and Sons. As humans we all make mistakes. Unfortunately for me, Samson's system did not record my appointment or maybe there was user error. Anyhow, I gave Mark a call a few minutes after the scheduled time. Mark seemed frustrated that the team let this happen to a customer and was apologetic to me. He then quickly rescheduled for Jose to drop by same day. In less than 30 minutes, the problem diagnosed and a replacement part installed. The overall feeling is that Samson cares about its customers. Not that they need it, but here is another five star review. I called Mark at 7:00AM after my AC went out during the night. Although their schedule was full, Mark made a few calls and had a technician drive all the way from Old Tucson to the N/W side (80 minute r/t). Michael was at my house and the AC was repaired by 9:00AM. This is a humble family owned business. I am almost hesitant to write this review as I am afraid they will get too popular. Sometimes a business can get way to big and lose whatever made them originally great. Mark, your business is blessed. Never let the love of money destroy your business ethics.
