This is forever my go to sushi place. Its low key located really close to my house. The restaurant is really nice, with fast service and very friendly waiters. The food is amazing. Their spicy kani salad is a MUST. All of their rolls are really good, we always order the dragon roll and then switch it up for the other rolls. Their portions are very generous and their prices are good for what you get. It could be a romantic spot or even a family dining place. I come here almost every week and will continue to so. So delicious. I were craving sushi and decided on Samurai Sushi because I remembered seeing a Yelp event here that looked beyond great. I ordered off UberEats and since I'm down the street it literally took 5 minutes for delivery, it was fantastic. We got a bunch of things to try off the menu. Miso seafood ramen, which was the star of the night for me. The noodles were quite possibly the best ones I've ever put in my mouth. Impossibly delicious seafood and some great veggies. My second favorite was the Samurai Bites - so so so good. If I see this appetizer on the menu I will always get it. Where can you go wrong with deep fried cubes of rice under a mountain of spicy tuna topped with some thinly sliced jalapeños?? You can't, it's fantastic and I highly recommend it. We also got two sushi rolls - the lava roll and the yellowtail. Both were great, especially loved the yellowtail, so fresh and tasty. My boyfriend also got the seaweed salad which he really enjoyed and a miso soup. All in all, a great dinner. I can definitely see myself getting some ramen from here on a weekly basis. I had the honor of eating here right before covid hit and ordered take out during covid. Everything is worth trying. Nigiri and rolls are fresh. Smooth, silky , fresh fish. Fish to rice ratio is exactly the way it should be. Take out will take a bit long, but it's expected. The prices are okay here, a little on the steep end, but you get what you pay for. Came here for outdoor dining. I was satisfied with the seating - they had comfortable chairs and tables with umbrellas. They do not have heated lamps. The Treasure Island was a bit pricy for what you get as an appetizer but I did like the assortment of fish over a bed of avocado and radish. I thought the rolls looked pretty good and might get those in addition to the Treasure Island. In terms of quality, I would place the sushi here at intermediate. It's a solid choice for a casual meal with friends but not a special attraction for sushi snobs. read more

Samurai Sushi is a solid local sushi spot with good food, a nice vibe and even better drinks! I love that they have a full cocktail menu as most places in the neighborhood don't. The service is great as well. My favorite sushi roll here is definitely the Salmon Lovers (I'm a sucker for torched salmon) and I really liked the Lychee Martini. We shared the Samurai Bites. They looked better than they tasted. Beautiful presentation, flavor was fine (I think I expected more) but the deep fried rice wasn't pleasant to chew. Made it somewhat challenging. It's ok...you live and you learn. We also ordered the Lava Roll. Beautifully done and delicious. We recommend. The Pork Ramen was filling and flavorful. Found this place looking in the area for a place to eat and so happy we picked it. We went in a weekend afternoon. There was only one other table but to-go orders going out the door on the regular for pickup. We ordered a few apps. The bao buns were wine of the better ones I had in quite some time. The yellowtail jalapeño app was delicios and the sauce was amazing. The Shula I was perfectly steamed as well. We did a special roll and a few peces of negiri. I ordered $50 worth of food from here and was super disappointed. 1. Yellowtail jalapeño - this was probably the only good thing. Comes with a ponzu & truffle oil sauce on the side that was delicious. 2. Salmon nigiri - the fish was not good, not buttery and sweet like it should be. Had a tough texture. 3. Toro nigiri - toro is fatty tuna, that means it's basically fat and should melt in your mouth. This was not the case here, it was chewy & hard to swallow. Not sure if there's a particular way to cut this piece (like cutting against the grain with meat) but this was very disappointing. 4. Spicy salmon - what a disappointment. This roll is usually salmon inside, then spicy mayo, scallions and crunchy onions on top. I decided to order cream cheese with mine, which cost $1 more, fine. As you can see from my picture, they added the cream cheese and left of ALL of the toppings! So NOT spicy. If I hadn't added the cream cheese I would have gotten salmon and rice. I did call the restaurant about this, and the reply was, "sorry, I'm not sure what you want me to do" I want you to make my roll correctly, I spent $50 on these 4 items! Went here based on the reviews and a recommendation from a friend. We were very lucky to get a parking spot right in front of the restaurant. We were seated in the front of the restaurant near the sushi bar which was ok. I would have more preferred to sit in the back but it did seem darker in there. When we sat down there was a few flies bothering us but luckily they went away and didn't bother us at all during our meal. My friend and I started off with some tasty martinis and salads - she had a traditional salad and I had the seaweed salad and they were pretty large. The sushi and sashimi are always fresh and flavorful, including their creative sushi appetizers and maki. They always offer a handful of BOGO options of appetizers, sushi rolls, and entrés. What is more is that the delivery fee is low, yet the delivery is prompt. I'm leaving off one star because they consistently miss order notes on their entree specials. The fish is fresh and everything is well balanced and tasty! I loved the appetizers (samurai bites and lava drops) as well! I am definitely a fan of Samurai Sushi. Whenever I get the opportunity to eat alone (since my family are not sushi lovers), I will usually hit up Samurai Sushi - either for a nice quiet lunch in the restaurant, or perhaps take out for dinner. This is the first place I tried a Poke Bowl, and I absolutely loved it! It's easy to eat and super delicious. I usually order it with sushi rice, Yellowtail, mango, avocado, edamame, carrots, cucumbers, and tempura flakes. The owner recommended the Ponzu sauce with it. It's just a very flavorful dish and can really fill you up. I also adore their Lava Drops appetizer. It's creamy crab, fried, with a sweet and spicy sauce added to it. It's so good! My go to roll is the special Loka Roll, it's topped with avocado and it's always so fresh and delicious. All the rolls I have tried there from classic to special are so good and the fish is always fresh. The only problem I've run into with Samurai Sushi is with my take out orders. A few times when I arrived home I noticed my order was incorrect. I received Edamame instead of Miso Soup, or they gave me the Lava Roll instead of the Lava Drops appetizer. If you do pick up, you might want to take a quick peek in your bag to make sure everything is correct. Otherwise, this place is a great spot to enjoy some fresh sushi! read more

Visited Samurai Sushi for dinner on a Monday. Thankfully, they have a parking lot. The restaurant has paper wall panels, wooden tapestry decor, cute tea sets, and more. The sushi bar sits near the main entrance. I had initially chosen this spot because the menu pictures I saw on Yelp had ceviche, but it appears that it has been taken off of the menu. I went with tonkatsu ramen instead. The broth was flavorful, serving was good for the price, but i have definitely had better ramen. Spicy tuna roll was pretty average, so I doubt the rest of their sushi is anything special. Don't know why this place is so highly rated. read more

We found this little gem while we were out running errands. This is hands down the best sushi in the area aside from high end omakase spots. We were pleasantly surprised with how good everything was. We really wanted to try everything so we went with a few different apps like the crispy rich and tuna, Kani salad. Ebe shumai, the yellow tail jalapeño with truffle, and the pork buns. The pork buns were delicious and one of the better ones we have had at most sushi spots. The kani salad was too notch! And I really was a big fan of the yellowtail jalapeño. We went with the kfc roll which has fried chicken, it was pretty decent. The nigiri was my highlight of the meal. They had a really good selection of fish, like otoro and uni. They give you two pieces per order and the price is unbeatable for the size of the cuts you get. The atmosphere is really cool too with a full bar and two sushi counters to sit. We will 100 percent be back and be ordering online when we are in the mood for delivery. Really happy we found this place! read more

The servers are so fast and the food comes out paced so you're not cluttered at the table. First time coming here and will def come back. 3.75 I usually go to another sushi place in town but looked for a good alternative and Samurai had some great reviews. Came in with my mom for a lunch. The place is nicely decorated and is BYOB. We got pork buns and the tuna tartare to start. Both were very good dishes. Next I got sea urchin, eel, o-toro, and Chu-toro nigiri. To me this was the highlight. Super fresh and high quality seafood!! The tuna was melt in your mouth tender and marbled with fatty deliciousness. All of the rolls were good. Be prepared to spend when you come here. Absolutely phenomenal. At their original location it was so tiny they wouldn't have been able to hold Imelda Marcos' shoe collection in it. But they jumped ship a few blocks away to a much bigger spot (and now they have alcohol as well). Everything here is just on another level when you compare it to the other sushi joints in the surrounding towns. On the first visit (way back last winter) we started with the samurai bites which were great - that crusty crunch outside of the rice was perfect. And with each visit we always try something different from their menu and have yet to be disappointed. Onto the rolls and each one looked beautiful. And you can actually taste how fresh the protein is and appreciate the skill it took for all the perfectly diced components and the various textures inside of them (whereas some places sometimes phone it in with a mushy "what's this one supposed to be again?" center or a roll that falls apart as soon as you try to pick it up with your chopsticks). They don't skimp on the horseradish (which actually tastes better here than some other joints) or pickled ginger. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more accomodating. (And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Samurai's Lava Roll is one of my kid's absolute favorite roll from any place we've ever been.) read more

Although the area isn't as nice outside, they jazzed it up with a enclosed patio with cherry blossoms, lanterns and pink cushions. The restaurant is BYOB but they also make delicious teas and lemonades. My kids got blueberry lemonade and it was delicious, refreshing and garnished with pea blossoms. The food quality is comparable to a high end sushi restaurant in NYC. We started off with edamame, pork gyoza and miso soup. The soup was the most velvety and complex miso soup I ever had. We also got steamed buns (delicious) and a sashimi appetizer, Treasure Island (this had so much fish!) The kids got some basic rolls - Alaskan, salmon avocado, shrimp tempura and tuna. We did the omakase which is beyond compare. You can't a better "bang-for-your-buck". It came with a toro sashimi appetizer and then a huge 10 piece sushi plate. First off, the reviews looked very promising on yelp. However, little did we know that there are two Samurai Sushi locations in the same town. So we went to the new location since it was closer, no biggie. The menu is different between the two locations and we were only found out after we were seated and handed with the menus. We ended up ordering four sushi rolls. They gave us each a bowl of complimentary miso soup. Loaded with tofu and kelp, however it was missing miso flavor. Tasted watered down, maybe because there were too much large chunks of tofu?! 1. Kamikaze was the best "special roll" we ordered during this visit, and the best deal too, one stuffed roll for $10. The tuna was very fresh. 2. I really wanted to enjoy the lobster "premium roll", but it was missing some sauce/ flavor. I felt it was a little bland at the core... maybe the rice could have been seasoned. And as you can see front he photo, the roll looks bare compared to the other three we ordered. 3. NY "special rolls" had an interesting twist with bits of cashews.They did an awesome job with presentation and service was excellent. 4. And last but not least we ordered a Dragon "premium roll". That can easily be a "special roll" for $10-12, not worth the $17. The red sushi caviar doesn't justify the upcharge. I took one star off because my heart was set for the food at the original location (about 2 miles away) and I just do not under why the same establishment can served some of the same food, but at a much higher price. Overall: Probably the best sushi in NJ Ambience: Local from the area for the most part with families and friends. We sat outside and were constantly bit by mosquitoes. We also tried Omakase (market selection) and they could have done a bit more to add to that ambience. Menu: I have heard that their Lava roll is amazing, but we were told that since we want to try Omakase we should skip appetizers. So we didn't get to try Lava Roll. We had sushi and sashimi Omakase. In hind sight, one would have been enough, plus some rolls to order. Two orders of Omakase was a bit too much. The food was plenty and we were really full at the end. Drinks: We had their iced tea and flavored lemonade, both were great. The server asked us if we would like a refill and we said yes. The refills weren't refills, it was a second order. We should have asked. Service: The waitstaff is nice but the service was pretty slow for the little crowd that they had. I didn't really enjoy Omakase as much I have at other places.
