Heard this place was good and served the freshest sushi. Me and my husband came to try and ordered a miso soup, house salad and a variety of 6 sushi rolls. The salad was soo good and had the right amount of the dressing. The miso soup was also very tasty. The sushi overall was delicious and I could tell they do use very fresh ingredients. I have been going to Samurai Sushi for 4+ years. Some restaurants get worse over time but Samurai Sushi has always been consistent throughout the years. Both owners are extremely nice and the staff is always attentive. The food always taste fresh and is consistently good. I would encourage anyone in the area to give them a shot. read more

An unexpected surprise... This restaurant is in a small plaza in Lake Mary next to a Winn Dixie and I never imagined it would be one of my favorite sushi places. The fish is always fresh, they have great service (even when it's busy, the service is pretty steady), and they have one of the best happy hour menus! During happy hour, they have nigiri for 1.25/piece and cheap rolls. They also have a good deal on saki but i would definitely recommend a DD if interested. The signature rolls are also delicious but I usually judge sushi places on their nigiri/sashimi because anyone can garnish "sushi" with spicy mayo and eel sauce and make it edible. I had sushi with a friend last week and have been craving more since! My boyfriend and I were staying at his place in Sanford and wanted to try a good happy hour! So I checked out the menu online and we made our way over. When we drove up I was a little skeptical with it being a tiny little hole in the wall inside an older Plaza. But as soon as we walked inside I was put right in my place. It was cute, dim lighting, great atmosphere! We got our menus and water and went to town on the happy hour menu. We opted to start with edamame, picked 5 rolls for us to share (Alaskan, Miami, chicken tempura, spicy tuna, and smoked salmon with cream cheese and avocado roll), and two pieces of nigiri (one each!) Now the not so great... it took us about twenty minutes to get our waters. Then another twenty minutes to get our edamame. Then about another 15-20 minutes for our sushi to come out. The place wasn't super busy and there were tables who were apparently in a different section and had a different server who sat down after us, ordered after us, and got their food before us. Our server was a young guy and I did see him over by the sushi bar chatting with the guys making the rolls basically the whole time we were there though. So that made it all make sense to me then. The worst, we only had one water refill the entire meal before we even got our edamame. We had our cups on the edge of the table and saw our server going to other tables and checking on them but he never came back to us. When he finally came back he asked us if we wanted more water (we were already finished eating and our plates were stacked in the middle of the table) and we said yes and asked for the check as well. My boyfriend and I are early and mid twenties and both work service industry jobs.. so we are so gracious and completely understanding.. But at the same time... we know better because we understand. It's a shame because the food was amazing and we will absolutely be back. And if we had a different server we agreed that we would have had a completely different experience. I am a fan of this place because of the lunch prices, service, and very respectable sushi for the price. Yes food wise there are much better and pricier places in Lake Mary, but Samuari is always a solid go-to place. Their lunch roll specials and boxes are always good, and they freely change out a roll if you wish. You just can't beat this place on value in Lake Mary. Service is always speedy, efficient and "quiet" which is very important on business lunches. Nothing worse than an annoying intrusive wait staff. read more

I got take out from here while visiting Orlando. Pretty good and quick service. For appetizer I got spicy octopus salad. A little salty, but the spicyness made up for it and it was pretty good. THe roll is the Dr Troy roll. It includes cilantro, yellow tail, avocado and tuna w spicy sauce. Then there's white fish, salmon and octopus sashimi. Then there's wassabi tobiko sushi. Yay for plum wine and sushi. Boo to hit or miss service and could be more reasonable prices. Set in a random shopping center spot, the atmosphere is a little interesting and slightly crowded at times. it seems i am either there when they are slammed or totally empty. Since they don't usually have many servers on staff, slammed can be 8 tables. It is a convenient place for dinner but i don't go out of my way for it. read more

I just managed to get on lunch shortly before 7pm. I got to Samurai Sushi just about 7, uncertain whether or not the Happy Hour was still running. I was seated by a host who gave me the Happy Hour menu. I immediately marked down two items I've been craving and started to flip through the main menu and sushi menu for an appetizer and descriptions of different rolls to try. I just got paid and was considering treating myself well enough that I could bag up the rest and have a whole other meal after work (I don't get off work until well after Samurai Sushi closes). Of course, while I was reading descriptions the bearer of bad news--an older waiter who politely asked me if I wanted anything to drink. I replied with "Water" because this trip would step outside the boundaries of my diet. The waiter then sees my partially filled out Happy Hour sheet, reaches over and takes it from me--telling me "It's too late for that. Happy Hour is over." I get it. By all technicality I was a few minutes beyond the curtain at the time I was sitting there happily filling out my order, however--it is highly improper to set an expectation to a customer that the establishment is not willing to honor. I was seated and prepared with the expectancy that I could still place a Happy Hour order. I find this incredibly indecent of the establishment and when I questioned it, the response was "The system won't let us change it." If you've ever worked in any form of food industry, corporate or small--there's always an override option. It was an "I can't be bothered" go-to answer. I had a reward stamp card I was planning to work on filling up with weekly/bi-weekly visits to encourage my steady diet and exercise, but quite frankly I've thrown it away and will likely not be returning to this establishment. For anyone looking for a genuine review of the food: The food is generally decent and there are some unique takes like air-frying breaded calamari (essentially the same method used for Tempura Shrimp). Just be certain, if you do dine-in there, that you do so checking your self respect and expectations at the door. Enjoy the food, appreciate the atmosphere, but don't expect the company to honor anything they offer. read more

I have tried repeatedly to LIKE this place as it's close to my job and my coworkers said it was good. However, today was the final straw, I'll NEVER go back there. Firstly, I'd like to say my server was good... today. No issue there, however, the food was served with a hair, like a disgusting pubic looking hair. As soon as he set it down, I called it out... he had it remade for me. I couldn't shake the disgust so after politely trying to get over it, I just decided to box it up and leave. Paid my bill (in full I will add) and of course tipped accordingly. That was just today... Other days, the servers pay no mind to a party of 1. Even though they'll seat you at the booths, they obviously prioritize larger parties over the single parties. Not enough tip for their care, I suppose... at least that's how I've been left feeling the last several times I've gone here. I've sat in the booth for 20 minutes on a slow day and have had servers just pass me by, not take an order or a drink... and other times have given my full order and not been given my drink until I had to remind them after my food was served. Today is definitely the last time I will ever set foot in this restaurant. Sorry, I know people love this place but in my experience, it has been horrendous and I've truly tried to like it... I don't go for the fish. Poor sushi rice and the fish is never fresh tasting if it has flavor at all. If you're going for lunch I recommend the bento box with Tempura. That's what the restaurant excels at. read more

I've only been there 3 or so times for happy hour sushi during the weekdays, but i haven't encountered a service problem at all yet. I could see if it was a Friday or saturday night maybe this place gets slammed, but during my visits there have been multiple staff by to check on me. Not only my server but others as well. The sushi's good. Definitely on par with everything else in the area. Since I only do happy hour, I haven't tried any special rolls yet though they do look expensive on the menu. After ordering, I became afraid of the food because of the filth. I hope they don't take care of fish the same way. Soft shelled crab appetizer had thick thick breading I broke off to eat. Dint order! Both spicy tuna roll centers of the rolls I ordered looked like crab salad from a can vs. Spicy crab and tuna made for sushi. The weren't rolled well but tasted ok. Weird locals at the bar drinking and only one other customer. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

I actually went here for lunch one day just because I moved back to lake mary area and heard good things. The sushi was absolutely delicious, I had about 4 different rolls. This place was good... but now it's not the same anymore. Me and my girlfriend went for their lunch specials and were completely disappointed. For starters, the service was terrible. We weren't properly assigned a waiter and the service was so slow. It took about 35 min just for the salad to arrive. We ordered a kani salad.. and it was nothing like we've seen before. It looked as if it was rushed being made and lacked taste. The chef seemed too lazy to even properly spread out the crab. Aside from that, the sushi seemed bland and lacked visual effort as well. The seaweed was super mushy and hard to swallow. The crunch roll lacked a major key to its dish... the CRUNCH. The sushi was tasteless and didn't really seem any different from grocery store sushi. This is probably the worst sushi place I've ever visited. I tried to give it multiple chances, three in fact. Every experience was pretty much exactly the same. Dirty restaurant, inedible food. The quality of the fish served is disgraceful. They must spend next to nothing on their ingredients. It's a shame because it's so conveniently located and they have a decent happy hour. My husband and I love sushi. We eat it at least three times a month. Most of those times are here, at Samurai Sushi. We fell in love with the place as soon as we tried their delicious tuna tataki. It has just the right amount of spice to make it memorable without overpowering the flavor of the tuna. Another great appetizer is their spring rolls (the sauce that comes with them is what really makes them special). For their sushi, one of our favorite specialty rolls is the Mexican Bubble roll. Their typical sushi rolls are great too - the eel roll is very fresh, unlike what you might find at other places. The servers are always very attentive, especially our favorite, Chad. The owner, Fiona, is also always very friendly. We've brought a lot of our friends and family here and everyone comments on how fresh their sushi is and how nice the staff are. read more

This used to be a reliable lunch place for me, since I work in the area. They have a reasonable sushi roll lunch special with a varied selection. However, the last couple times I have had tuna rolls, there has been a smell that I just couldn't identify or get past. I pointed it out to the waiter the first time and he said it was probably the seaweed, so I ordered another time and had the same experience. My other roll was totally fine. The service is good and it's nice to have a sushi option in that area but I have just been let down too many times. read more

I always forget about Samurai Sushi. Its located in a strip mall by Heathrow and is another hidden gem. They have a great happy hour every weekday from 5-7. House Saki and domestic beer for $2, House wine and Kirin for $3. Various rolls and apps for $3.50 each. If you go for happy hour they get busy and can be slow. They have good fresh sushi and full menu of other items. I love the yellow tail neck App, its not on the happy hour menu, but its fantastic.
