I love Samurai. It's on my way home from almost everything I do and it is such a great value. The food is tasty and affordable. The shop is small and clean and the owner has to be one of the nicest, most hardworking people I've ever seen. I hope he is making a million dollars a year as hard as he works! I just love it when you have a store owner who is genuinely so appreciative of his customers. Fave rolls: dragon roll, rainbow roll, the hulk, caterpillar roll, pink lady and the tiger. I also really love their chicken teriyaki, especially the lunch bento box, which get you miso soup, dumpling appetizer, 4 pieces of snow crab roll and chicken teriyaki atop rice for $7.95. I like to get it right around the 3P lunchtime cutoff and have that be my only meal of the day. First and foremost, I hate giving a poor review when the service and staff were great. However, Samurai did not wow me and I feel that their 4.5/5 star rating is a bit high. After frequently coming across Samurai on Yelp and noticing their high rating and reviews I decided I needed to give it a try! I was so excited, hoping this could be my next new place to frequent. We ordered a Tuna California Roll (tuna, avocado, cucumber), which I was surprised and happy that it was on the menu since I end up ordering my tuna rolls that way a lot., also a Rainbow Roll (assorted fish over a California Roll). The sushi was mediocre. The environment was clean (which is very important) but it had no "WOW" factor. I wasn't expecting a fancy chic kind of dining, but I need something to be really impressed with and Samurai unfortunately didn't do it for me. I predicted it would be a hole in the wall sushi place that had awesome sushi for reasonable or cheap prices. Especially because some Yelpers have mentioned that the prices at Samurai are cheap. The prices are reasonable, some reviews say its so cheap, I wouldn't say that but definitely great prices for the OKC area. I am not saying I wouldn't go back because like I said, the staff were very friendly, welcoming, and committed to good service. But I wouldn't necessarily pick it out of other sushi options around the OKC area. EDIT 2/6/16 I think last time i was just really frustrated that they put mayo on literally every single thing i ordered when i said twice no mayo at all on anything. And that I didn't get to see the owners cute kids having fun with their parents joking til all of them were crying while doing homework. They are seriously the sweetest family! Tonight it was so good my order was perfect and I got to see the cute little family that just warms my heart every time the kids are either studying on school nights and on weekends helping to run the show and it is just the cutest thing!!!! And I am loving the new online order feature :) Oh and a random thing, their sushi chef, is the best sushi "roller" no joke. They have good food but the quality of service is horrible. There are two owners one a short woman with very short pixie haircut she has the worst attitude and will talk bad about you right to your face , she'll complain about everything including if you ask her to be light on the sauce. Every time I give this place a chance it always lets me down. They also take forever, I've been here 10 times and all times I've waited one hour and a half for my food. Today was my last time there because I found a way better place with better quality food and better service and prices it's called JIRO and it's right up the street from them. Don't waste your time going to samurai especially if you're on a date. You deserve a fun and happy place , take them to JIRO . so, for our five year wedding anniversary the husband and I decided to have an anniversary lunch. Coming here from California, we haven't have much luck finding good sushi. This is the best sushi we found so far here in OK. We got a total of six rolls, The Spicy girl, Rainbow Roll, Phoenix Tail, the Boston, and 2 Spicy Tuna Rolls. I would have to say the Phoenix tail and the Spicy Girl were the BEST!! They were both good sized rolls. The spicy tuna was very small, but it was good. I love spicy tuna rolls, and when they come the size of a nickel I just get disappointed. Oh Well. I'm guessing we probably won't find sushi out here that can compare to California. The service was great, when we got there we were the only ones there. Then shortly after two more people came in. This place is small, the two that came in after us talked extremely loud!! It was really annoying. Not to mention they were talking about jews and then in came a jewish man. I think they stopped their conversation then. When they got busy our service slowed down, but it's understandable as it was just the owners I'm assuming and they were doing their best to keep up. I suggest maybe hiring someone else. It is a mom and pop whole in the wall, but those usually turn out to be the places you want to go back to. Tried this gem on a girl's night out and we really enjoyed it! There was a ton of items from the menu to choose from. Their selection of sashimi and handrolls were probably my favorite. The fish was fresh and that's the most important to me. Their nigiri is yum! My sister enjoyed the cooked rolls as so the appetizers. Stopped by Samurai recently as I wanted a quick in and out place to get sushi. Samurai is located in a strip shopping center right by Oklahoma City University. There are tables where you can dine in, and a sushi bar where you can eat at the bar if you wish. I really enjoyed my sushi. The sushi had flavor, the rice was good and the prices are good. The man who took my order was really polite and gave me a cup of hot tea to have while I waited for them to make the food to go. When my food was ready he even went and got me a cup to take the rest of the hot tea with me. They have a happy hour everyday from 3-5PM where you get 10% off your order. You don't have to just get sushi, they also have bento boxes and hibachi dinner offerings too. There is nothing over the top that makes this place stand out, hence the 4 instead of 5 star review, but I will recommend that you try it out sometime. read more

Both hungry for sushi at a later than preferred dinner time, and in no mood to deal with the crowd at Neko, my bf and I decided to check this place out. We are SO glad we did! First and foremost, this place is small, which I thoroughly liked. Between the size, shape and decor, I felt like I could be sitting in a sushi joint in NYC. I literally felt like we went through a teleportation portal! Secondly, the service was outstanding. Super friendly, very accommodating and polite. In addition to feeling very welcome (especially at such a late hour) the sushi selection was vast. There`s something for everyone, from basic California Rolls and Philly Rolls to more elaborate rolls like The Spicy Girl, which was my bf`s favorite. I know sushi is one of those really iffy things... but don't be intimidated by the shell of this establishment. It`s clearly family owned by folks that take great pride in their work. The food was average, but not what you would expect of Japanese food - it was more like Chinese-style Japanese. The teriyaki chicken was simply chicken on a bed of cooked onions. The tempura chicken was basically sweet and sour chicken with tempura sauce; and my hibachi shrimp looked more like broccoli shrimp. Their miso soup was delicious, and my family had the Don bowls before and they said it was good. However, if you are looking for good Japanese food, maybe look somewhere else. Their sushi might be good based on the other reviews, so if that's all you're craving then you should be good. This sushi place is the best bang for your buck in the city, in my opinion. Sure, it's not very fancy, but then again it's not trying to be and doesn't need to be. They serve a quality product at a very affordable price. They offer an insane selection of sushi rolls, ranging from your standard California roll to some very complex rolls. I had the Okie roll and was pleasantly surprised with how fantastic it was. The Missus ordered the Volcano roll, I believe, and it was presented excellently. Overall, we both were very pleased with our rolls. We will definitely be back for some takeout sushi. I must also add that the service at Samurai is absolutely wonderful. Pretty good for a small restaurant. I usually like to try and hit up local restaurants as much as I can. I stumbled upon this location due to a friend loving nearby. The staff and very friendly and always willing to please customers. I got the sushi with seared filet mignon and it was delicious! Since we came at an off time, they decided to make us a special roll, which was rolled in cucumber instead of rice. It was very refreshing and thoughtful of them to do that! We ordered takeout so I can't comment on the service but the sushi was good for take out sushi. I ordered the safe volcano roll because it always seems to be the same thing at many sushi restaurants. We also got the Phoenix roll which was a little more disappointing because the white fish did not taste as fresh and was able to take over the entire flavor of the roll. However my volcano roll was good with the crab but again it did not taste like a high quality piece of fish. The prices reflected what we expected so at least it's not over priced. We will return for sure because it's a close/fast option for sushi when you aren't trying to break the bank. I wouldn't recommend driving a long way to try this restaurant but if you are close by and looking for fast sushi I would give this place a shot. read more

To me, this is the sushi "sweet spot", value priced sushi that doesn't compromise on quality or detail (appearance, sushi presentation, cleanliness). They have a large selection of $4.95-$5.95 sushi rolls, and just because they are cheap doesn't mean you should order from the higher priced rolls but you should order at least one (I really liled the Dragon Roll). The location can seem kind of sketch and random, but do not judge a book by it's cover and don't expect the interior to look like Nobu or Katsuya. This is a mom and pop sushi shop people! The menu is somewhat intense and surprisingly affordable for sushi if you're comparing it to Saii or Neko. They also serve udon, yakisoba, bento boxes, teriyaki, tempura and fried rice; however, I came for sushi and sashimi! BTW Happy Hour everyday from 3-5pm. The menu says 10% off your order, but don't quote me! We ordered: Room 222- Assorted nigiri pieces. Salmon, tuna and yellow tail (or some other white fish) all beautifully cut. The rice had just right amount of vinegar and room temperature. There have been times where I have had cold or warm sushi rice. Icky poo :( Great Lady- This roll did not have the standard seaweed wrapper or rice. Well, I don't remember there being rice. Anyhow, the wrapper was this gummy rice paper. Kind of reminded me of a Vietnamese spring roll, but sushified. I think the mayo was my least favorite part. Fried gyoza- I thought these would be the standard issue frozen type, but I was wrong. They are home made, crispy on the outside and yum filling on the inside. Verdict? Service was attentive. I love that they're open later than most places! Service was so incredibly slow. We got our plates one at a time for a period of 10 to 15 minutes from the first plate. They need more than one person doing sushi. We were there for almost 2 hrs and not by choice most of it was waiting for food to come out. No apology or recognition on how long tje food was taking either.
