Cute dog paws painted in the sidewalk pointing towards water for the canine companions. Located in a residential area with plenty of parking. It is no surprise that the Corner Store will be celebrating 79 years in the community! The service has always been great the times I've gone. This review will be for my visit on 6/28 for a late breakfast. We ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito and it was soooo good. It's my second time getting it because it's just that good. The first time I had the salsa it came with, I knew it was authentically made, because it tasted like my mom's homemade salsas! This visit I made sure to ask the sweet lady who brought out our food if she makes it, to which she shared that they did make it fresh in house! This visit we also got to meet the owner who was also very kind and welcoming to us. I would 100% recommend to everyone local or visitor to check it out for yourself! I stumbled into this corner store after a long walk in the area. I needed a place to stop for a snack and some water, and I'm so glad I found it. The store is tucked away in a residential neighborhood and is SO cute! There's plenty of seating and lots of fun little knickknacks to browse while you wait. The good: I tried a Popeye's spinach wrap with turkey and bell peppers. The store is very cute and nestled in a neighborhood giving it a true "corner store" feel. The interior is spacious with vaulted ceilings and is very kid-friendly. They sell Melissa and Doug toys, placemats for kids, and have crayons out that kids can use to draw. I know they're known for their cheesecake but I tried the tres leches instead and it was great! It was balanced with the right amount of sweetness/moisture. The wrap comes with your choice of a side and I chose the chips. The salt and crunch helped balance the wrap which was softer/blander. The wrap tasted fresh and the bell pepper was refreshing and different. The bad: I wish the wrap came standard with mayo and mustard instead of us having to add it in from packets on the side. The server forgot to make the almond latte so I had to go up to the counter to request it. The almond latte tasted very much of artificial almond flavoring. My husband wasn't a huge fan of it. I didn't care for the canned peach slice on the tres leches but it did make it look pretty. The interesting: I like their random assortment of things in the store. Some stuff like wine and charcuterie boards were displayed on a long table. Other items displayed on an old stove. Beer in the back in the big fridge. Random shelves with chips or toys. Got the Breakfast Sandwich with Sausage. Very enjoyable. I had the bagel substituted with a croissant. The croissant was crispy, flaky and buttery. The gentleman behind the counter confirmed that the croissant was made in house. Good amount of cheesy gooeyness in the sandwich. Dining is available inside plus some tables outside. Ordering can be done at the register or via kiosk. TCS is located in the middle of a residential area. I went there on a Sunday morning and did not have any issues finding parking in the street. Glad I got to try it, they have pretty basic "cafe" food items like pastries and breakfast sandwiches, coffee etc. I ended up ordering a breakfast sandwich, and was able to substitute the bagel it comes on for a croissant which was really nice of them to do for me, along with a regular latte, it all tasted really good! Our food came out at a reasonable time but the drinks did take quite a while, however the worker formally apologized to us & said that's not typical for them & it just so happen to get busy right behind us, which was true! but I really appreciated her taking a moment to apologize for something she had not a lot of control over, that gave me really good vibes & is a 10/10 customer service for me! Let me start by saying I genuinely enjoy their coffee, and I've had positive experiences here before. That's why I keep coming back. Today, I ordered an iced latte and sat on the couch waiting for my drink as usual. I noticed there were only a few orders on the screen, and eventually mine was the only one left. After that, the employee making drinks walked away from the station and started cleaning instead. By this point, I had already been waiting around 20 minutes for a single iced latte. My boyfriend and I had already picked up sandwiches beforehand, and we only stopped here because it's close by. The plan was to grab a coffee and head to the beach to enjoy our lunch. Since it looked like my drink was going to take quite a while and we were getting hungry, we grabbed our food from the car while we continued waiting. Almost immediately after opening our food, who I am assuming was the owner, came over and asked, "Do you work for them?" followed by, "We have sandwiches here." I understand that bringing food from another business into a café isn't ideal, and I wasn't trying to be disrespectful. I simply didn't expect to be waiting so long for my drink and needed to eat while I waited. What made the interaction frustrating was that I was approached about my food before anyone realized my drink hadn't even been made. After my boyfriend asked about it, the employee finally went back and started making my latte, and we left shortly after. My intention was never to advertise another business's food or be inconsiderate. I was simply a customer who had been waiting an unusually long time for a drink. However, the most important part to note here is the owner is evidently a trump supporter. He was excited to see trump's convoy go past last week and although as he put it on social media, "I'm not the biggest trump fan." Maybe not a big fan, but a fan nevertheless. This place has lost its soul just like the owner. I used to go there twice a week and would generally bring friends there too. NO MORE will I give my money to a place like this and I will advise all of my family, co-workers, volunteer groups and friends not to bother going there either. MOST of the employees are awesome! I've passed by recently and have seen some new faces and was pleasantly surprised, they were genuine and friendly! The food was also delicious (I'm not sure if it was worth the price but nonetheless delicious). Breakfast burritos in the Bay are never good, always $20, and when you ask for salsa they inevitably answer with -- is Tabasco ok? No. No it's not ok. I noticed they were finally offering gluten free cookies and bread and tried a gluten free chocolate cookie and a Club sandwich with gf bread. Both were excellent.
