Cool Interior and Chubbie Sauce is Awesome! I gotten lunch at Sancho's Tacos in HB after volleyball for years. So when I saw that they were putting one in San Clemente I was stoked. LOCATION & AMBIANCE (Rating 5) Sancho's is at the south end of SC in an area that's not great now, but I'm sure will soon be revitalized soon as south/west San Clemente is a hot real estate market. They went ALL-OUT on the decor and cudos to whoever the designer was because they knocked it out of the park. You really need to see the inside of this place. It's a bummer it's so small, but it does have a patio area outside with heaters. SERVICE (Rating 3.5) Friendly staff, but not much in the way of service. Just order at the counter and wait on the food. O.G (Rating 4.25) So this is just a simple taco. Tri-Tip, onions, cilantro, sour cream and CHUBBIE SAUCE. The meat is high quality albeit a bit dry most of the time from being overcooked. But the chubbie sauce makes this taco novel. It's their own concoction using a green sauce with a sweet citrus flavor (I think it's pinapple) that makes the taste extremely novel. This taco is what I go to Sancho's for! Tasty faire, easily accessible next to 5 freeway, the young men working here are cool hipster and very happy to be here. Welcoming especially after a drive in the drenching rain from San Diego on our way to LAX to catch our flight to Paris. An Inviting and artsy environment; Not your typical Mexican restaurant when you walk in because it has an ornate look about it, gaudy interior design thou it works, the music is a little loud thou it speaks to all ages. Art on the ceiling and you can tell the owners put love into the design as the details show it and the food made with joyful love. Even the unique salsa they serve stands out. We had the tri-tip burrito and shrimp tacos. Pricey for Burritos at $8 - $9.00 thou flavorful and my favorite was the spicy shrimp burritos. The spices it was marinated in gave it a kick thou your taste buds wanting more goodness. After coming out of the restaurant, We looked up in the sky and there was a huge rainbow. We ordered take out breakfast scrambles. They were flavorless and overpriced ($22 for two breakfast burrito scrambles). I said I would give them another try for lunch. Tried again today for lunch, while this time was better I left feeling like everything is really overpriced. My son ordered nacho fries without meat. We were served a tin of French fries with cheese on top for $7. I went back and ask the girl what happened to all the toppings? She said, "oh I thought you said cheese only --don't worry I only charged for the plain ones." $6.50+tax for some French fries? Cool atmosphere and friendly staff, but really not worth the money. [Apparently] Contrary to popular opinion, I am not a fan of the Chubby sauce. AM a fan of the subtle smokiness of their Chipotle mayo, and enjoyed it on an O.G. taco and Federale Taco. These tacos were tri-tip steak and carnitas tacos, respectively. Whether they are worth their price point is up for debate. The selection of meat is exquisite, offering top-notch flavor in an inoffensive package devoid of the kind of messy, oily slop found in most other taco joints offering carnitas which leave you satisfied but feeling slightly guilty for the indulgence. The tri-tip arrived in juicy, robust medallions that left me wanting for nothing. Will I dine here again if I'm in the area? Absolutely. Fun vibe and artwork but after ordering the good impression dissipated. We ordered 2 OG tacos, 2 Shrimp Carnal and Sanchos Nachos with tri tip. OG tacos came along with three fish tacos (I confirmed they were fish by sampling it) told the guy bringing food out and he took em back. The nachos came out while we waited for the correct tacos. Behind us, a table received an order of tacos. The pregnant lady working behind the counter came out with another plate that she gave to the table behind us, picked up the order that was given to them prior and placed it on our table saying that plate was the shrimp tacos belonging to us. There was about a 3 minute pause between the plate being given to the table behind us and then offered to us. My man paused and I realized what happened as my back was to the table behind me. We spoke to the table behind us to make sure what had happened was actually real and not a mistake on our part, but they confirmed! When we asked them to remake the food they had taken from the guests behind us to be given to us they looked at us as if they couldn't understand why we would even ask them to do such a thing and they then asked the table behind us who had chimed in to support our request if they also needed their food to be remade. The table behind us declined. The shrimp tacos are $7.10 each. We spent $45 roughly on lunch and the fact that they didn't address our concerns sincerely really upset us. We recommend assigning a number to an order versus a first name ordering system. And if a plate does make it to the wrong table, it's best practice to take the plate back to the kitchen. It's not the customers fault that you don't label plates or organize orders correctly, and serve wrong orders to the wrong people. We will not be back. read more

We're seriously addicted to Sancho's We eat here at least twice a week, and have yet to get sick of it. The Caliguey (California burrito) is incredible, and so are the tacos. Never had anything we didn't like. Parking can be challenging but it's to be expected with any business on El Camino. The service is always really good too. read more

Wife had two of the fish, flounder pounder, tacos and the taco shell was not too crunch and not two soft which is exactly how she liked them. Had the chicken burrito with green wet sauce which was one of the best ones ever had and generous portion. Also got the chips and guacamole and house salsa was a nice spice. This is one of my more favorite places for fresh, great tasting Mexican food. Prices are reasonable, food is amazing and not greasy. Chips and salsa are awesome. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I've tried on SEVERAL occasions to place a phone order and all attempts took 15-20 minutes to answer phone one time my Boyfriend and I tag teamed the phone on a Saturday night and we never got through and we tried for over 30 min. Once I walked in to place an order and that also took a long wait....this is F*@ing Frustrating! If you're hungry or on a time a crunch I recommend finding another place for dinner. Sanchos is very overrated. I use Yelp all the time to scout new restaurants to eat at and I saw Sanchos was highly rated. When I went there with a friend of mine the place was not very busy at all, and we waited 30+ minutes for our two orders. I ordered the loaded nachos and my buddy got the fish tacos and surf and turf burrito. My meal alone (nachos and a drink) costed 18 dollars. Insane! Omg. Best burrito I ever had in my life. Xmas eve we were on the way home from a long drive from Simi Valley and starving and not having Xmas eve dinner til later so we stopped, randomly. I will drive up there to have this burrito again.
