I went in for a 90 minute massage on Saturday, August 22nd. I hadn't been to this spa for many years, but I remembered that I really liked it and wanted to treat myself for my birthday. I hate being late to anything so I arrived at 4:20 for my appointment at 4:45. I was shown to the waiting room and I waited patiently. I assumed that maybe the massage therapist was running late so at 5:00 I went to the front desk to tell the receptionist that I had to take a quick restroom break and I didn't want the therapist to miss me. But apparently, one of the girls at the front forgot to check me in, and another receptionist had just called me to remind me of my appointment while I was in their waiting room for over 30 minutes. So because of this mistake, my massage was shortened to 60 minutes. I understand that people make mistakes, but I booked a massage to relax. And I couldn't relax because I was so annoyed and then got annoyed all over again because I couldn't relax. I can't even rate the massage because I was so tense and irritated. To give her credit, the second girl apologized but I still felt like I just wasted my time and money for a service that was supposed to be a treat to myself but turned out to be just another hassle. read more

I was in desperate need of a facial. They were able to fit me in with a couple hour's notice. Thank goodness! Crystal was wonderful and provided a relaxing 75 min facial. Booked a 1 hr Swedish massage. The whole session, there was loud construction going on, constant scraping noises that drowned out any relaxing music and/or ambiance. Left a good tip since it wasn't the masseuse's fault. I let them know after the session, and the cashier offered me a 20% birthday discount after saying they couldn't hear anything up front. Whoop whoop. Then the manager called me and offered me a 10% discount on my next booking. Thanks but no thanks for wasting an hour of my time, when expecting a relaxing massage and being terribly disappointed, and then trying to sell me on another massage when you didn't rectify the issue. Hands down, the best spa experience I have ever had. Jessica was amazing! I got a personalized 60 minute facial. She made sure to really understand my skin before beginning. I told her I had very dry skin and lots of redness. She was very professional and super nice! Her hands worked some major magic on my skin... and the back/shoulder massage was a surprising bonus! Facial I had with Annie was great. She's really nice and knows when you just want to relax without conversation. This was my first time getting a Swedish massage here so I can't compare to another masseuse at Sanctuary. However, I've had plenty of massages ( firm) before. I had Laurie Ann and the whole experience was eh. From the start it felt like a very dry rub down. Hardly any oil at all. And yes it did hurt but I figured since I did ask for firm pressure this was just her .. But I'm sitting here 3 days later with bruises all over my legs and pain in my back. Visited this past weekend for myself ever and experience of a Yoni steam. Staff is quite nice and considerate without hesitation. Kim greeted me along with the other ladies accompanying smiles... got me checked for my appointment and went over the paperwork followed by a follow-up of any questions or concerns I may have. Needless to say from beginning to end there was an abundance of calm and ease of this visit and unforgettable experience and journey. Kim is great and walked me through the steps, process and what to consider for yourself what this steam means to and for you. There are great benefits of this ancient ritual for women aside levels to cleansing from many perceptions. I felt and continue to embrace the feel of renewed, refreshed and continuing on my path but with a calibrated sense of all that's me and what I see fit as a best decision, feel and decisiveness of purpose. Sounds trippy right? I'll say this, if you've never had a Yoni steam (women) -- don't cheat yourself. And when you try it open your mental, emotions and uncertainty of expectations to the experience. I get massages every two weeks, and I think that I've been to almost every high end spa in Houston. I decided to try Sanctuary out, and booked a 90 minute "tech" spa geared towards people that spend way too much on their gadgets. It was exactly what I needed, but it wasn't long enough. I didn't realize how tight my body was after 90mins and I definitely needed more time with Lauren my masseuse. Definitely give this place a try, they are very friendly, and if the rest of the employees are like Lauren, then it's absolutely worth the price. read more

Meh. I got a last minute appointment for a facial here last night. The woman at the front desk who booked me in was very nice and seemed knowledgeable about the different types of facials and what would be good for me based on what I told her about my skin type. I arrived and checked in without issue. Waiting room is nice. Ana did the facial. She seemed somewhat flustered at first, and even commented she "hadn't done this in awhile" which seemed odd to me, but I brushed it off. She asked me some generic questions but didn't really explain how she would tailor facial to me or my skin. She didn't even really look at or examine my face, as the room was pretty dark. She started and it was ok. Then she put a mask on (I'm guessing, since she didn't tell me), put the steamer towards my face and said she would leave to "meditate" then she left the room. I thought it was odd she just just left the room, maybe giving a nice shoulder massage or something would have been better? I realize a facial is not a massage treatment but I have never had a facial before where the provider leaves the room. Maybe I'm expecting too much but it seemed disappointing. She came back and resumed the facial, and tried to sell me on the Yani treatment. I asked her specific questions about my skin and she gave non specific, generic and unhelpful responses. I was not impressed to say the least. I left the spa somewhat relaxed but also feeling like I had just wasted $125. I was expecting more from the reviews. Oh well, live and learn. read more

So I originally wrote a negative review regarding my first experience here. The masseuse I had was terrible so I rescheduled for a diff masseuse on a different day because no other masseuse was available at that time. After rescheduling my second masseuse wasn't so great either. She rushed through the massage. Do to having two negative experiences and some scheduling issues I only rated this spa with two stars. Update: After my negative post the owner contacted me and informed me that those two therapists no longer worked there and to better my experience she offered me a 45min massage. Unfortunately I had something really important come up and I wasn't able to make my appointment. I do want to raise my review because it was very much an appreciated effort and it's absolutely no fault of theirs that I wasn't able make it. We enjoyed a couples massage here for Valentine's Day. Our massage was perfect and so relaxing. The staff was very friendly. I'm not an achy individual so I just went to enjoy some R&R. We were offered water or green tea at our entrance. A few minutes later we were escorted to the relaxation room. The relaxation room offered the full body massage chairs which were fun!!! Just as we started to get cozy we were called back into our rooms and everything was just a blur after that LOL!!! Definitely would recommend it. read more
