Sadly the sides were the star of show and that's not A list stardom. I don't usually offer my recommendation because I'm not the one running a restaurant BUT there is a lot of opportunity for improvement. The biggest improvement would be grilling the meats. Nothing I had tasted grilled. That's an easy improvement. Another improvement would be sauces. Make a signature sauce people will come bearing down your door for. I went to Sanders BBQ Supply. I bought beef ribs, rib tips, brisket, Mac n cheese, cole slaw, greens and corn bread. The cole slaw was too creamy. Who puts icing on corn bread? Those tips were tough! No flavor to the beef rib. Lastly, the only thing this place "supplied" me with was empty pockets ($108), nausea, cramping, gas, diarrhea and aches. read more

While the service is very good, unfortunately I did not care for the rib tips. They were served cold and cut very fine. Seemed like they only used the half a rib and only the first three rib bones. Their sauce was also too watery for me. The brisket was really good. So moist and seasoned. However, the star of the show is their chicken wings. I ordered the wings - and they were old, dried, cooked days before, then reheated by the microwave with sauce added. I sent the 1st order back, my 2nd order was no different. what a disappointmen! this restaurant does not have small packages of salt/pepper. salt is poured into a small bowl, the customer has to use their hands to put salt on the food, no catsup, no napkins. large rolls of brown paper are on each table to wipe your hands. a customer must be careful not to put their hands into the middle hole when tearing paper or else you put bbq sauce on the hole. We're northside Chicago residents but happened to be in Pullman for their house tour and car show on a Sunday. We had heard good things about Sanders BBQ Supply, and since we were on the southside we decided to give it a try. We heard that they run out of food, so we tried calling several times before we arrived, but no one picked up the phone and they do not have an answering machine. Not a great first impression. The restaurant is in a cute storefront on 99th Street in the charming Beverly Hills retail area and near the train depot. Sanders must be popular because the place was packed, but they seemed to still have everything available on the menu. There was one person taking orders and the cash register, and the line was long and s--l--o--w. Honestly, we could not understand why it was taking everyone so long to place their orders, but as the line slowly progressed, we could see that some of the customers were place huge orders. It probably took us 20 to 25 minutes to get to the cash register. We ordered two brisket sandwiches, bourbon baked beans, potato salad, sweet potato, and sweet potato cornbread. They offer four different BBQ sauces that you serve yourself from a table. Orders are called out at a side window next to the cash register, and there is really no place for carry-out customers to stand or sit. Luckily, it was a little chilly outside, so no one was sitting in their back outdoor area, and that's where we waited, and waited, and waited for at least another 25 minutes. Numbers were slowly being called, but we noticed that they had skipped our number. Finally, we went up to ask about our order, and it seems as though they had forgotten us. After we asked, our order was ready in a few minutes. Regarding the food, it was all excellent quality. The brisket sandwiches were good. The meat was lean, but for $15, I would not say that they are incredibly generous with the portion. The potato salad and beans were delicious but both extremely "wet." The sweet potato cornbread was the standout--they gave us a generous portion and it was unusual and delicious. I could make a dinner or a dessert of just that. I wanted to love this place as it was recommended by my sister who is a foodie and gets restaurant industry. The service at the register was a meh. Told the young lady it was our first time there... no recommendations, no welcome, no glad you chose us... just hurry up so I can take your order. Food wasn't ice cold, but there was no visible heat showing it was fresh out the kitchen either. I looked at the brisket nacho at another table and thought maybe we just ordered the wrong thing. Our brisket (brisket sandwich and the 1/2 brisket) was not as flavorful as I thought it would be, fatty in parts, small portion for the price. The pickled onion wasn't bad, did not enjoy the pickle flavor. The sauces were a miss for me, either too sweet or too sour and served family style at the back. The place and location are great!! You can have a conversation. The server was kind enough. Parking was doable. However, I would not go back there. This restaurant was featured on ABC 7 Chicago this past week. When I saw it, I knew I was going to check it out this weekend. Please know I drove all the way from the Northern burbs of Chicago to try this place. Was it worth the drive? Hell yeah! The ribs are tangy and tender. The rib tips are meaty and well portioned. The sweet potato cornbread! Good God is all I can say. I bought the oxtails but I haven't tried them yet, but they're HUGE! The only thing that was lacking were the collard greens. Will I visit here again in the near future? Probably not because of the distance, but I know I'll be back at some point. Oh and the staff was super duper nice. This is an awesome place. The food was too good to be true. I had the brisket cheeseburger and it was so moist, tender and melted in your mouth with every bite. It was seasoned to perfection and the caramelized onion and sauce made it even better. The place was small but the decor was beautiful and clean. The service was fast and I didn't have to wait 30mins for my food. Because there was a line out the door just to get in. Thankfully everyone was ordering "to go". The sides were great I had their bourbon baked beans which were flavored to perfection and their Mac and cheese with was creamy and the pasta was not over cooked. I ordered the beef rib and 2 orders of the 2-4 people platter with exactly the same 2 sides for each order. I looked in the bag after I picked up my order. I saw 2 containers of sides and 2 takeout containers containing the platters. I thought they don't give much food for the $50 platter. Anyway, I went home and opened one of the takeout boxes. It contained 4 ribs and some pulled pork. How could this possibly feed 2-4 people? Later, I brought the other takeout container to friend's place and opened it up. It contained 1 slice of brisket and a hot link. That's when it dawned on me that they only packed one of my platters. I tried calling multiple times, and as other reviewers mentioned, they never pick up the phone. It just rings and rings. Finally had an opportunity to make my way to experience the food here and it did not disappoint! Let me start by saying the restaurant is beautifully designed with modern and clean esthetics. It was a very busy Saturday afternoon here and that's not surprising, considering it was a mild weather day, so ppl were out and about. Now down to the food, my mom and I had the rib tips, smoked sausages and a few sides and everything was absolutely delicious. The staff were all friendly and attentive. We dined in with the baby , who also enjoyed his meal... and what I also liked was the water station with Sauce selections and containers to wrap your food leftovers, all in all, great experience, delicious food. Now , any bbq connoisseur knows you should probably order ribs later in the day because businesses sell consumers food from the day prior, especially some bbq restaurants. I couldn't stop eating them and i ordered the catfish. So that was Thursday. It's 8 am Saturday, I heated up brisket, beans and omg!! Melt in your mouth and added sauce the server recommended perfection!! Then i ate rest of my potato salad. Oh I forgot that Cole slaw is fire we ate all of that at the restaurant.
