The food may be good but the workers are not! I came in with my son, and I was leaving in such a rush so when I got home I remembered I left his bottle there. So I called immediately asking if it was there. He said yes it is. So I asked if he can hold on to it for me and I'll pick it up around 6pm. So I come pick it up, he starts looking around for it, he said oh I left it on top of the trash can and I think someone took it. I was like why would you leave a baby bottle on top of a trash can. I've had an infatuation with Báhn Mì since my introduction to this culinary gem via the Nom Nom truck a year ago. I've had tons of them from that pair of beauties: Misa & Jennifer and I love them. The meatballs were a decent size and juicy and tender with a hint of BBQ - I think. Whatever it was it was DAMN good. The baguette was flaky and crusty. I coulda' sworn I saw a Frenchman baking them in the back. Or maybe it was just the state of delirium I was in that led me to believe that. I come here all the time. You get a foot long freshly baked roll bahn mi sandwich for 5$!! Every time I come here there ingredients taste so fresh. We have been customers to express for many years and the service has gone from mediocre to just terrible and flat out rude! Their sandwiches are good and price is ok but every employee that works there from the teenagers who make the sandwiches to the manager are never pleasant to deal with. They don't care about what the customer wants, even though we place big orders every time we go here. We found Van's Sandwiches nearby and that is now our Sandwich shop of choice! I have been here several other times now. Sometimes it is excellent. Fresh crisp but light bread, fresh chewy boba and delicious sandwiches. The last time I was here it was just OK. The bread was a little less than fresh, not a lot of the yummy butter on my cha sandwiches. The boba I got was hard and a not soft and chewy and the fried Banh Cam I got, 2 of them were hard and not edible, the other two were good. Now this I what I want out of a Vietnamese sandwich. My wife had headed back east for a funeral. Since I was starving and not in the mood to cook, I turned to yelp for cheap eats. I had tried La baguette before and was unimpressed, but when a sandwich is under four bucks it is hard to say no. After reading the reviews I had made my decisions. I would get the "shredded pork". When I went inside, the place looked relatively clean and smelled good. As I ordered the lade behind the counter gave me a funny look. She explained that I would not like the "shredded pork". She made a motion of scratching her arm with her fingernails while saying skin, skin, the "shredded Pork" is shredded pig skin. She then recommended I try the BBQ pork. In general I am not adverse to eating animal skin, but decided to take her advice. The sandwich was excellent. The bread is crunchy on the outside and sift in the middle. The pork was for the most part lean with only a few bites of fat and gristle. I was not concerned. You cannot get a four dollar sandwich without gristle. The veggies complimented the meat perfectly. The cilantro and large slices of jalapeño add a burst of hot and zip to every bite. They also have Boba tea and slushy drinks of all flavors. I prefer the pineapple coconut, while the wife loves the taro. Lastly, I did return to try the "shredded pork". The lady behind the counter was correct, I did not like it. This place has great Vietnamese style sandwiches. Everything is super fresh and tasty. I usually get the grilled pork and it is always delicious. The pork is marinated Chinese style in a soy saucey, sweet and sour marinade the turns the meat bright pink. I have definitely had pork like this that is not good, but they do their's right. The pork chunks are always tender and juicy and they pile plenty on this already huge sandwich. They pile everything on the fantastic baguettes they make fresh right there. These baguettes are just the right amount of crispy on the outside so that they have a nice crunch without cutting the top of your mouth and nice and fluffy soft in the middle. They are not heavy at all. I really don't like heavy baguettes, though some people do. The veggies are fresh and they are generous with those too. And the price cannot be beat! I mean you could go to Subway for the same price, but eww!! I have not tried anything other than the sandwiches, because I come here on my lunch break from work and the sandwiches are just the most practical thing for me to get. The service is also great. I am really surprised by the people complaining about the service. They only have maybe three employees working up front as far as I can tell (at least that's all I've seen so far) and they are all very friendly. I don't really like all the foliage that comes with it so I ask for it plain and they happily accommodate my request. They also sell boba drinks here but I've tried it and I'm not a fan of that. This is the best place to get authentic banh mi sandwich in the valley. I love number 5 or 4? I can't remember but it's the traditional sandwich with all the delicious deli meats. The bread is perfect and I love the pate used in it. The jalepenos are definitely hot with seeds in it. So check if there's seeds. We walked in and ordered four sandwiches.A Vietnamese lady walked in 10 minutes later and ordered a sandwich and was served before us. My wife and I looked at each other like, "What's going on?". I've been coming here since 2004. They've come a long way since then. It's the only place I'll get banh mis in the valley. I love that they have a wide variety of sandwiches for those who don't like the Vietnamese meatloaf/headcheese. The only sandwich I've tried is the special combo, number 1. If you want to try Vietnamese sandwiches you should go to around the corner to La Baguette. It's pretty much in the same parking between Pho So 1 and Pho 999.
