Last October 1, 2023, I went to this place for lunch while waiting for my airplane bound for Boston. They serve great food; I finished the entire serving. I asked the lady (owner) if I can have a cup of water. She gave me a small plastic cup and told me to get the water in the faucet behind her store. It's free courtesy of SF International Airport. This experience gave me a lesson to bring an empty thermos bottle that I can fill with water instead of buying bottled water for $4.50 per bottle. read more

It's not bad for airport food. Ordered tempura udon and the soup had good flavor and the noodles are cooked right, not over or under cooked but perfect al dente. It's not anything special, but it is quick and simple. It's not a bad place to get a quick bite before a flight if you're craving a hot bowl of noodles. This stand has been my favorite spot to grab a decent meal before my flight. In this part of the terminal, the chicken udon noodle soup is the best in an airport. A little over $11, you get a decent portion of chicken and noodle to satisfy your palate. The only negative is the seating area to eat this delicious meal. read more

A big pass... this is barely dorm food you would make in a microwave. We ordered udon and it was literally soy sauce water, cubed tofu, some seaweed and packaged udon - all for a cool $12. I made this in my dorm room for $2. We also got the spicy chicken bowl - umm... again I made this many a late night in my dorm... frozen chicken sauced with teriyaki sauce, microwaved rice and throw in some frozen peas and carrots (why?!?)... zap for 4 minutes for about $13... And the gyoza was not as good as the Costco dumplings I used to microwave in the dorm room. Really... there are many better options further inside the terminal, it's not worth it. If you really are hard up for Asian noodles at the airport - you should just bring your own Nong Shim cup of noodles and get some hot water - you'll enjoy it more and you'll save yourself $10. read more

Pleasant surprise for the airport. Came at 11am and walked up just as the queue cleared. Browsed through the pre-made sushi and found moist, well formed Sushi under good fish. I managed to find marbled slices of tuna and salmon topping the nigiri Sushi for my Sushi platter ($10.95) The salmon bowl ($11.95) was also good with moist, flaky salmon cooked fresh for my order. It tasted even better with the chili shichimi powder. Reasonable value for the portion size. read more

This place and I have a love-hate relationship. When you clear TSA in terminal 3, this place is the first thing you see. Sushi here is reasonable B grade sushi, with ok prices. e.g. spicy tuna roll is $7. However, they are pretty light on the fish, and roll is mainly rice. Service is pretty fast, but slightly whatever. Delicious sushi, certainly for prepackaged. But you get a small fingernail of wasabi for the Sushi Platter (a California Roll and 5 pieces of sushi) and NO soy sauce. They have soy sauce hidden around a little corner from the cash register, but I saw no extra wasabi, and I wasn't going to (1) interrupt or (2) stand in line again. My comfort food... I normally stop by here to eat tempura soba after a long flight back from Asia. My stomach is upset after a flight and always provided me a comfort food for over 10 years. Arriving at 71A, I wasn't hungry for soba but since this restaurant was right there, I decided to stop for a quick late lunch today. After the terminal renovation, they are now located by the tarmac side. I ordered my usual tempura soba, and sure did give me warm settle feeling to my tummy. My friends and I had just arrived at SFO Airport for our first time. We were starving, slightly hungover, and craving some Asian food. Lo and behold, Sankaku popped up in our sights. We scurried along to get in line and checked out what they got! We got the Pork Ramen, Salmon Bowl, Eskimo Roll, and Deluxe Sushi Platter. We also bought a sake bottle to enjoy, because you can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning! The sushi was already prepared, so we just had to wait for the ramen and salmon bowl. It did not take too long to come out and were served on trays for us to bring out. There were conveniently placed utensils, soy sauce, and seasoning packets for customers near the food pickup section. The food looked pretty average to me, but it's to be expected from airport food. The ramen and sushi were indeed average, but the salmon bowl looked pretty good to me. It came with cucumbers, seaweed, rice, and two nice sized grilled salmon. A pretty complete meal, if you asked me. The rice was slightly seasoned with some light soy sauce? When I dug in, I immediately felt like this dish had so much potential to be great. The salmon was dry and had no flavor. The rice could had some more of sauce/seasoning and they could have had more sauce options for customers to add to this dish. I usually like to enjoy what the chef brings to me, but I felt like I needed some more sauce for this. Overall, average sushi spot in the airport with a good amount of options. I believe this place is the same as Wakaba at Terminal 2--at least, their sushi is marketed for both places. At $13 pre-tax, the sushi platter was ok. Nothing outstanding but nothing to complain about. The crab salad in the california roll was a little on the artificial side, but the cuts of fish on the nigiri were nice and thick. The amount of rice was balanced. I wish it were a little cheaper or a little more food but that's airport prices for you. The sushi deluxe is the same plus two extra nigiris for $16.50. read more

I had a three hour layover at SFO and after walking around, realized half of the places to eat were closed. Sankaku had a long line so I figured I would see what the hype was about. While in line, I saw the chef making fresh sushi rolls and when I walked past the fridge holding the rolls, they looked amazing! They had different kinds of sushi rolls, edamame, and drinks to choose from. I went with beef ramen because I felt like something warm and comforting. It was delicious! Great flavor with the broth and the meat. It did not take long to get my order and the staff took care to wrap it nicely to go. They included plenty of napkins, chopsticks and plasticware. I was shocked at how good this place was for being airport food. I will be coming back here for sure. read more

The sushi here is not amazing but boy, the Japanese beef curry I had here is the best I've ever had in my life! It is mind blowingly good! For ~$14 you get a giant bowl of curry on top of a huge bed of really delicious rice. Everything about this curry is perfect - the vegetables and meat are cooked to a perfect soft texture, the meat is thinly sliced and super flavorful, and the curry sauce is incredible and not too salty. If I have a curry craving I might book a flight next so I can come here. Disclaimer I haven't ever been to Japan though I have been to many legit curry joints in SF and NYC! read more

Given it's airport food, I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the tofu udon for $9.95. Food came out incredibly fast and hot. Portion size was decent as I was definitely full after. They were also very generous with the amount of tofu in my bowl. The noodles were chewy and broth was pretty tasty. It was a bit oily but not too salty. 4 stars mainly because it was pretty good for airport food, but definitely don't expect anything amazing. Connecting through SFO on the way home to Omaha. Saw this place next to a Burger King when I flew through on the way out, and knowing it'd be time to eat when I returned made a mental note. It's between gates 71 A and B, which for some reason are my departure gates on this trip. Ordered the curry chicken bowl. Nice flavor, not especially spicy for a curry, but serviceable. Perhaps as important today is the substantial amount of rice underneath some sizable portions of chicken and vegetables, mainly onions, carrots, and potatoes. I've got a long flight home, and it'll be very late when I arrive. I needed something filling, and I got it. I also prefer being able to walk up, order, and sit down with my food after it's prepared. Both times I came by the line for BK was at least 15-20 minutes long. I suppose we like the familiar, but really? Good for BK, I guess, and I'm not recommending Sankaku as fine dining, but go with something different when you get a chance. This had the best Japanese food in the airport . The seating around this area also made it convenient to charge your electronics while eating since there's a lot of outlets. I tried their curry which was think sliced beef with onion, rice and curry mix. It was around $11-$12. It was pretty good. The second time I got their udon which was around the same price. The tempura udon had a shot bonito broth , wakame, 2 tempura slices , and green onions. The last time I was here, I got their ramen which had char siu, wakame, fish cake, green onions and noodles. Sankaku serves tasty sushi, noodles and bowls!!! It is located at a great location that you will see right after you pass through security in Terminal 3, and it offers a large variety of food items! I got a Dragon Roll, which is imitation crab, avocado, eel, teriyaki sauce, with pickled ginger and wasabi. The outside of the roll is wrapped with the eel and avocado and is drizzled with teriyaki sauce. It looks beautiful, is delicious, and the texture is just right! Sankaku also put a lot of care into the presentation - the sushi roll bites are arranged in an aesthetic arch. The staff are always placing fresh sushi plates on to their shelf, as well as making their noodles and bowls fresh on the spot. The lady at the counter was very smiley and friendly. The overall vibe of the place was also clean and elegant. If you ever have a chance to pass through Terminal 3 in SFO, I would definitely recommend enjoying their food!!! read more

Disappointing. In a word, Sankaku was disappointing. It looked like sushi. It cost like sushi. It just didn't taste much like sushi. Mostly my meal was flavorless. The spicy tuna roll wasn't spicy. The eel on the dragon roll was cold, hard, rubbery and pretty tasteless. The best thing here was the seaweed salad. The second best was the imitation crab in the California Roll. Given the high proportion of Asian passengers traveling through SFO, I expected significantly more. Get a hamburger instead and eat sushi when you're back home. If you're craving Japanese food, or a soup, this is a good option in Terminal 3. I usually go with Dogpatch Bakery to get a salad, but I had a cold and wasn't feeling great, so decided to deviate from the norm and grab an udon soup. Normally at a restaurant, I'd expect to pay between $10-$12 for udon soup, so the Deluxe Udon soup at $15 is an appropriate markup at the airport, since you have limited options and it's a warm meal. For the size of the soup, I'd say it's well worth it, especially since you can probably feed 2 people with it and there's a generous amount of noodles and meat. The noodles were nice and al dente, the broth was really hot and not overly salty. It seemed like there was an entire grilled chicken breast in the soup, and there was a lot of thinly sliced beef. The beef was a bit on the chewy side and at times, it felt like I was eating beef jerky. It also came with a piece of shrimp tempura that was freshly fried and delicious - it didn't taste like it had been fried 10 min ago and then kept under warming lights. Not the cheapest option for a meal, but if you want something warm -- or rather, hot -- the udon soup will do the trick. They also have curry, ramen, sushi, rolls, etc. I'd definitely come back here again for the udon soup next time I'm in this terminal. read more
