Service is the best part of this place followed by the food. We had the black squid ink paella and it was pretty authentic, ask for the Soccarat making a crispy at the bottom. Star proteins was the fish, flaky and cooked perfectly. Patatas bravas has more of a gravy texture to the sauce but it worked- Back to the service, attentive, congenial and constantly checking in on us. We will be back soon read more

La Paella Spanish Restaurant has an old school feel of being plucked right out of the Iberian peninsula with red clay tiled floor, white walls, dark, stained wood with tchotchkes like Don Quixote de la Mancha. 1) The French-like bread is toasted in the oven with nice crunchy crust, warm, touch yeasty, soft interior. Especially liked their earthy, garlic scented Manteca looking spread which was referred to as Aïoli. Also, there is a salty, brined, chopped olive Tapenade. 2) Paella is their own claim to fame so I ordered the Paella Marinera/seafood. The visuals did not disappoint. Requested the Spanish Bomba rice for more "authenticity" at an extra charge. Minimum order is sized for two persons. Two extra large prawns with heads attached which allowed me to sample the tomalley/shrimp butter which is creamy with a sea scented Umami along with the body meat. Four regular, steamed, headless shrimp with sweet meat. Seven clams, but over cooked. Eight mussels firm & meaty. Soft, bright red bellpepper slices contrasted against the yellow orange rice. The saffron tinted soft rice that held a delicate seafood broth hiding micro-squid, plush white meat fish. The Socarrat/the crispy rice at the bottom of Paella pan was minimal as requested since I didn't want the rest of the rice to be too dried out. Overall, the Paella was fine. (I keep using the Paella created by an art teacher from Spain, Miguel Duran, at his home which blew me out of the water as the standard so it seems most Paellas fall short.) 2a) Vino Tinto: Honoro Vera, Monastrell, Jumilla, España is juicy plum, blackberry with hints of cinnamon, dried thyme, dark chocolate, earthy, and smooth tannins. Made from Monastrell/Mourvèdre. 3) Flan de Naranja is smooth, not too sweet accompanied by a caramel sauce with a touch of orange flavouring, slices of fresh orange. I have not been here in years. I made a reservation for one after a day at the museum. Danny met me and he remembered my name. This was such a comfortable restaurant to spend my evening. Great place for couples, and a group of friends. Everyone in the restaurant was having a lovely time. Byron was my waiter and he was very attentive. I should say everyone was attentive. There was a woman and an older gentleman who also checked in on me. Tudor read my mind, and took my appetizer cutlery and plate, and replaced them for my entree. I loved that. When food tastes good, I dance a little in my seat with a big smile. I guess one of the patrons noticed. As he was walking out, he said you're really enjoying yourself. I really was. The Paella Marinera dish seemed as if the ocean exploded in my plate The shrimp. The prawns. The calamari. The muscles. The clams. I was so glad everything was perfectly cooked and nothing was mushy. There was seafood in every forkful. The taste exploded in my mouth,and not a bland taste anywhere. My comfort were the plants I was seated next to. I touched them to check if they were real. Date night before a concert at the Saban Theater. This quaint restaurant has the charm of a small family owned Spanish restaurant. As much as we loved the ambiance, the food was the winner. We started with 2 tapas; potatoes and crusty bread with fresh tomato spread. My husband ate so much, he had little room for the main course; paella, of course. They had a few options and I chose the paella marinera with seafood (shell fish). I cleared my plate. Very delicious. We each had a drink, with our meal, and decided to go full Spain. I had the Vermouth Blanco and my husband had the sangria. The service was perfect, from host to waiter to busboy. So get this I take this chica from Barcelona here one night, real cultured type, accent like silk, knew her way around a Rioja. I wanted to impress, right? Boom, La Paella in Beverly Hills. We celebrated 2024 Christmas Eve at LA Paella because we didn't want to stay in to cook a family dinner and needed a break from eating Asian cuisine. My brother-in-law had made the dinner reservations well before the upcoming Holiday, and we expected to find a bustling yet welcoming Central L.A. Spanish restaurant. My brother-in-law and friends have dined here previously and frequently raved about the authentic homemade-style Spanish cuisine. Based on our welcoming and friendly reception upon entry, we looked forward to dining at this comfortable and homey restaurant. We arrived on time for our reservation and were seated in a corner facing the main dining room. Our male server was kind, amicable, and efficient. Unfortunately, I didn't get the server's name because of his hustle through the crowd he was responsible for. The noise level was lively and festive. FOOD: We started by sharing a carafe of red Sangria, assorted hot and cold tapas, and a mixed green salad before jumping into our paella. The tapas that we ordered were Croquetas de Pollo (fried chicken croquettes), Gambas al Ajillo (shrimp sautéed with garlic and chilis), Calamares a la Plancha (grilled squid with garlic & parsley), Aceitunas Variadas (mixed green & black olives), Ensaladilla Rusa (tuna, potato & mayonnaise salad) and Pan Alioli/Tapenade (housemade bread served with aïoli & tapenade). Our foursome shared the huge Ensalada Orgánica Variada (mixed organic salad with tarragon dressing). Because it was our first time to dine here, my brother-in-law cautioned us to order the paella for two and maybe one entree to share. It was a good thing for his cautionary words because by the time our Paella Valenciana Mixta (rice, saffron, pork, seafood, chicken, and vegetables) and Parrillada de Carne (mixed grilled meats: pork, chorizo, chicken, and lamb) about 45-minutes later, we were stuffed from the tapas so we took home some of our mixed grill and paella. I didn't dare look at the dessert menu because I was so full from eating and drinking, but our dinnermates did confirm that LA Paella makes a fantastic flan. I love this restaurant! It's in a very unassuming area of Beverly Hills/mid Los Angeles. Very close to Cedar Sinai as well as the Beverly Center. I don't always complain about prices but for typical dinner it's a bit much. The restaurant looks very nice yhsy we'd try again but maybe for some special occasion. The dish was enough for 2 and it came with tasty bread, tasty olive tapenade, garlic butter and lemon wedges which you need to enhance the flavor. My brother-in-law and his girlfriend have often raved about how delicious this place is, calling it their top favorite and visit frequently. We finally got to try La Paella tonight, and it was truly AMAZING. The tapas were outstanding. We ordered three of each: caracoles al ajillo, calamares a la plancha, croquetas de pollo, and pulpo a la gallega, along with the paella marinera for six. The paella does take about 30 minutes to prepare, but it was well worth the wait. The server came out to present our paella and served our plates beautifully from the pan. Everything was fresh and full of flavor. The service was excellent, with our drinks and new plates frequently refreshed without us needing to ask. I've passed by this place for years and have heard such good things about it from friends who have eaten here before. This last Friday, I finally was able to dine there with 3 other friends. After having eaten at other newer and more authentic Spanish restaurants in the LA area, I can say that the food at La Paella is OK, not great. I was particularly disappointed with the seafood paella, which we ordered with bomba rice (long grain was used if bomba was not requested) and paid $2.50 more per person. Though I asked for soccorat, there was very little in the paella we were served. There was plenty of yellow rice, not seasoned with saffron (couldn't taste it). The one-inch layer of rice was just a bit too wet for my preference. The seafood was cooked well. The Pan con Jamon (Not Iberical Ham) was pedestrian. The Patatas Bravas weren't as crispy as I would like them to be, but they did have a nice cake. Flan with Orange was the dessert, and it tasted nothing special, and I certainly didn't taste the orange. Service was solid. I find La Paella to be a restaurant stuck in time with its food and recipes, while the newer Spanish restaurants that are popping up in the LA food scene since 2020 are bringing brighter and a more modern take on Spanish cuisine. read more

Went back with the same friends. Food was good, I want to say it has improved since last time. We got a few appetizers and the marinara/seafood paella with the chili taken out. The sangria was also good. Service was ok. The reason that I took off three stars is because our server was very dismissive about food allergies. He refused to write down the list of ingredients we told him about, and repeatedly kept saying that the allergens were "fine" so I had to push pretty hard not to include them. I hope that guy would learn to be more considerate and respectful of customers with food allergies. Other than that, the ambiance was fine. Intimate, chill type of vibe. The other staff were on top of filling our drinks and checking on us. The only guy we had to keep making repeated requests to is the same one who dismissed food allergies. That kind of ruined the experience for me to be honest. So be careful if you have food allergies/sensitivities too. There is metered parking along San Vicente right in front of the restaurant. It's a quarter every 15 minutes until 8pm. If you make a reservation around then (they were open from 5:30pm to 9:30pm today), parking should be easy to find, and free! We made reservations for Saturday night, and since we were a group of 14 people, we got seated at a big table upstairs. We tried so many different dishes: champinones con chorizo, croquetas de pollo, gambas al ajillo, calamares romano, serrano, pescado a la sal, paella marinera, paella de montana con chorizo, all so very fresh and flavorful! Oh, and the best sangria I've ever had! The restaurant was packed, everyone was so cheerful and the vibe was very European. Highly recommend, this is hands down very authentic Spanish! A great spot for authentic Spanish cuisine complete with a large assortment of tapas. Parking is really easy in this area, especially off the service road where the restaurant is located. Our server was really polite and helped us with menu suggestions as well. They really have a lot to choose from and it was hard selecting, because there were so many that we wanted to get. I started off with the Andaluz Gazpacho, and thought it was terrific. One of the better gazpacho's that I have had in a long time. Next we ordered some tapas. We ordered the Serano Ham, imported from Spain, the Chorizo, imported from Spain, the Agucate con Cangrejo which is avocado stuffed with Dungeness crab, and for the entrée, we chose to split the black squid ink Arros Negre Paella. We also upgraded to Bomba Rice, which I believe is a good call for an extra $4. The paella was really incredible, I have been to Spain a few times and have paella in many different cities there and thought this one was authentic as well as delicious.
