Adorable family-owned, Santorini-themed restaurant at the edge of downtown Danville. I made a reservation for our family to celebrate my dad's recent work recognition :-) Main observation: HUUUUGE portions. Omg. We were pleasantly surprised at the generous servings. Leftovers for daaayyyys. The staff are so lovely and accommodating as well. COMBINATION PLATTER: Highly recommend! So much goodness in one dish. Great for groups and trying a little bit of everything. The dips are dolma are so fresh & light. CALAMARI: Standard calamari-- lightly breaded and crispy~ POMEGRANATE CHICKEN: By the time our entrees were here... I was pretty much stuffed. But the few bites I had were tasty. The chicken is a smidge dry but the pomegranate sauce and veggies were delicious. Made for a hearty lunch the next day lol Super quaint and cozy for our special occasion~~~ Would recommend if you're looking for authentic mediterranean fare.

One of the worst local meals we've had in the area. We tried the appetizers, plated entrees, and wraps- everything was a huge disappointment. The barg filet was so overcooked that it was challenging just to chew through it. The wrap was so dry and bland. We love Persian food and actually came here with Persian friends, so they know what real, good Persian food is! What a let down. Service was also abysmal. We came for a late lunch and were literally the only party in the entire restaurant. We had a teenage waiter who could not have cared less about our experience and we waited over 30 minutes for our food. Very confusing as there are numerous positive reviews online.

Lunch special #1 - beef wrap w Greek salad and hummus!

What a bright, lovely place! Very welcoming, as I stopped in for a lunch and they have a well-curated menu for lunch specials. I got the #1 an entire plate of food for $17.99!!!!! Oh, and their lemonade was so tasty and fresh. I had to take half home with me which is exciting for a lovely treat later tonight. I highly recommend and I look forward to going back for a nice dinner!

This complimentary appetizer is delicious and the pita is really hot!

The free appetizer they give you is so good! The baba ganoush was a little different than what I'm used to and the spanitopika was ok, a little extra cheesy. The falafel wrap was ok, I wish they had added more falafel to be honest. It was a nice little spot to eat outside for lunch. Would recommend checking it out, they seem to have live music some days.

Went here for my birthday, service was really good and there's a guy who sings and plays on a Sunday! I think I ended up getting the gyro platter. It's a LOT of food so just be aware of that lol. They gave us this stuff to drip the pita bread in and it was FANTASTIC! If anyone out there is reading this, please let me know what it is! I'd love to have more of it! My family had some of the chicken kebab and it was a bit dry. Only reason this place stays at a 4/5 is because of the service and venue

Free flatbread with the best dip ever. Toddler friendly too

Updated review, for in-person dining on Friday/Saturday. Santorini has quietly risen to one of our top family dinner places, especially on Fridays and Saturdays. For those nights, they have live music with this older gentlemen with an amazing voice. He sings many of the classics from Sinatra, Elvis, etc. His rendition of "For Your Eyes Only" was superb. Definitely helps sets the mood and his voice even seems to calm down my now threenager! As for the food, Santorini has always been great at chicken and koobideh kabobs. We have recently discovered some real gems however: Moussaka - This is my son's favorite dish and I swear he can eat half of it. Like a lasagna except its layered with eggplant, tomato sauce, ground beef/lamb, and layered with cheese. Super delicious and hard to make at home. My son probably got hooked on this dish from his first day at daycare, where the family made a blended version of this dish for him. I have to admit, I'm also a huge fan. Grilled Salmon - On our last visit, we had the most amazing grilled salmon. A thick fillet and seasoned with simple salt, pepper, and squeeze of lemon. But man, it was cooked perfectly and was so juicy and flavorful. Somehow it stayed moist through the entire dinner. Flatbread - These are always free when you dine in, and is soft, chewy and great with that dip. If you order from Doordash, they'll charge you for both the bread and the dip separately. Another reason to dine in!

We celebrated Yalda night here. The owners are welcoming. Food is amazing. Live music. Nothing to complain. I love it here. Will definitely go back and recommend it to all people who are interested in Trying Persian food.

Visibly burnt and dry through and through.

Extremely inconsistent restaurant. I've had great koubidehs from them, and I've had absolutely terrible koubidehs. Simply put, the kitchen has good and bad days. Unfortunately for them, today was a show of their worst. I ordered a koubideh, and instead received a burnt briquette that would rival a school ground bouncy ball in terms of which is a chewier and bouncier. The rice, of all things they skimp on -- in favor of undercooked and unseasoned vegetables. I'm used to the nice and tender and juicy and butter meat, but with these off days, I cannot and will not continue to support this business.

    House dessert for mom's bday!

Very pretty restaurant with big Santorini wall, foods are decent and service is great! Everything tastes good and authentic although baked fish a bit undercooked. Persian hot tea smell so good!

Updates review after 8 years (!)…read more Danville International Market continues to offer some of the best take-out kabob rice plates. We used to come here frequently before the pandemic, but for some reason stopped coming on the years since. I yearned to come back since our 4yo loves Persian-style rice and the kabobs at Santorini nearby are inconsistent - sometimes juicy and sometimes dry. With Yelp's Grubhub app, you can order for pickup and customize. Its amazing you can choose thigh or breast for chicken. Definitely get the thigh for a juicier chicken! They even let you customize the rice preparation: * The basic saffron rice is the classic white basmati rice with some saffron to give it some yellow color. This is my son's favorite and he can probably devour an entire plate. * Jewel-style adds candied shredded carrots, orange zest and pistachios for added crunch and sweetness. *Zareshk-style used barberries to add some tartness to balance out the sweet, and is another one of our favorites. Definitely will use their Grubhub ordering system going forward. Besides the awesome kabob plate, they also offer several Persian stews and desserts.

I grabbed a couple items from the fridge and looked for the price tag but other than remnants of old tags on the shelf there were no prices to be found. Baklava is one of my favorite desserts, but the flaky pastry portion was pretty tough and hard, and came straight off the pistachio layer. The chicken pieces in the wrap were nice and chunky, that was the best part of it. Usually Doordash orders would at least include utensils and napkins in the bag it's delivered in. My order had no napkins included. Despite the mess, it was tasty and satiating. But I don't think I'll order from here again.

Plus, I was craving Persian food, specifically a solid kubideh. Their reviews were good, but their kubideh and chicken plate was over $20+. Persian food is usually on the pricier side, but spending that much on a lunch plate feels excessive. So, I went with the kubideh wrap for $13 which price-wise was more palatable. It came with a side salad and seemed like a good value. It took a little longer than expected, which was fine. But the flavor wasn't there, and I was hoping for the depth of flavor I get from South Bay favorites like Yas in SJ. I unwrapped the whole thing just to taste the kubideh on its own, but it was bland. Like plain ground beef. I had to use the salt and pepper from my utensils packet to give it something, unfortunately. On the bright side, the salad, a Persian-style cucumber and tomato mix, was excellent. The lavash was soft and fresh, and the other ingredients were solid. But the kubideh, the star of the show, was underseasoned. For me, kubideh is the test of a Persian spot. If that's lacking, I'm not coming back. Maybe they had an off day, but based on what I had, it just didn't hit.

There was a period when both the food and service had declined, but I believe in giving credit where it's due. Over my last several visits during the past two months, Alborz has been absolutely outstanding. The koobideh kabobs are some of the best I've had in a long while; truly mouthwatering. The flavors were explosively mouthwatering and unforgettable. In my opinion, great koobideh needs three essential qualities: it should be flavorful, juicy, and chunky in texture. Alborz's koobideh delivers on all three. The accompanying rice is perfectly cooked; fresh, fluffy, glossy, and delicious. Their bread also deserves special recognition. It's baked fresh daily in their tandoor, and you can absolutely taste the difference. The restaurant's interior has been beautifully updated and feels fresh and inviting, and the service has improved tremendously. The staff is warm, attentive, and genuinely makes you feel welcome. After these recent experiences, Alborz has earned its way back to the top of my list for Persian kabobs. It's wonderful to see a longtime favorite return to the high standards that made it so special in the first place. Keep up the fantastic work, Team Alborz!

The simple reason is that our 5yo son is an extremely picky eater, and for some reason he is a huge fan of the Kid's Chicken and Rice bowl. Doesn't matter / our son has been known to finish half to all of a bowl by himself for lunch. Recently we've been getting double orders to have a backup dinner option. As for the adults, I occasionally enjoy their lamb kabobs and Chicken Shawarma, while the wife is a fan of the Shrimp Kabobs.
