We visited this location to celebrate my daughter's 25th birthday and her college graduation, and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. The restaurant was only about half full -- just four tables occupied -- yet the service was extremely slow. We had to place our food order twice, and even after being told the issue would be corrected, the situation didn't improve. The waitress was difficult to get ahold of, not very friendly, and overall the service felt inattentive. We were told an item would be removed from the check, but then a mandatory large‑party fee was added for a table of only four people. On a $111.45 bill, the automatic tip was $20.06, which didn't feel fair given the level of service, though I still paid it. I wouldn't recommend this location based on our experience. A special family celebration shouldn't feel this stressful, and the service we received was simply unacceptable. read more

I love this place, I ate here the other night but for my dad's birthday. It's been 10 years since my last dinner, it's still as delicious as the last. Reasonably priced bento plate for lunch. $18 for two items and $20 for three. Comes with soup, salad, rice and a bit of fruit. My bulgogi was a bit salty but mixed with the steamed rice it had good flavor. The mixed tempura was not very hot and batter too thick for my liking. The California roll was ok. My husband thought the chicken teriyaki was good. My sister liked the miso soup and salad was fine. So some things were a hit and miss others were just ok. What wasn't ok was our waiter claiming I only ordered a two item combo when I asked about my missing tempura. He also thought I ordered spicy pork instead of bulgogi. But really, he should have just apologized and said he didn't hear me because all three of us diners heard me ask for three items, and he assumed my dish was pork when it was the bulgogi. read more

I dined here on February 18th and was seated at 8:00 PM as a party of one. The restaurant was not busy, and I was seated in a booth to the left of the entrance. After being seated, I was not acknowledged for approximately 15 minutes. At 8:13 PM, a white couple was seated in the booth directly behind me. Within two minutes, a server greeted them and took their order. During that time, I had still not been acknowledged. For context, I am a Black woman. I cannot speak to anyone's intent, but the difference in response time was noticeable and uncomfortable. I walked to the host stand to request a manager and was told that no manager would be available until the following week, which I found surprising. The server later stated she intended to come to my table after assisting the other guests but could not explain why I had not been greeted during the 15 minutes prior or why guests seated after me were attended to first. As someone with many years in the restaurant industry, I understand service flow. Being overlooked in a nearly empty restaurant felt extremely dismissive. I am sharing this feedback in hopes that management ensures all guests are acknowledged promptly and treated equitably. I also believe a restaurant should have a qualified manager available to address concerns in real time. He comes back to tell me she said "oh sorry I thought she didn't want to place the order?"... like what???? When did I say to cancel or not put my order in. My husband and I have been a long time customer here as we lived across the street and the quality of the sushi/sashimi is always top tier. But lately the service has been poor which lessens the experience. I've noticed the restaurant is consistently understaffed during busier hours which makes it hard to be in touch with the server to order, close out, and making you wait longer. The front of house is disorganized and chaotic trying to manage to go orders, seat tables and run food. My boyfriend and I don't usually write reviews, but we felt we should share our experience from tonight. We often visit this location or Sushi Ai on 2nd Street, and this time decided to come here. We arrived around 7:18pm and noticed right away that the restaurant seemed short-staffed--one server appeared to be handling the majority of the work. It took a while for us to be seated and then again to be greeted at the table. Once our server arrived, we ordered immediately along with waters. When the waters were brought out, we were told it would take a while for the food to come. I wish that had been mentioned before ordering, since we had somewhere to be afterward and likely would have chosen a different spot. Unfortunately, it ended up taking a full hour--our food didn't arrive until 8:27pm. When we asked about the delay, the server kindly offered us complimentary miso soup, which we appreciated, but waiting over an hour for sushi is far too long. To make matters worse, when the food finally arrived, the taste was underwhelming and didn't meet our expectations. Overall, the service wasn't horrible given the circumstances, but the combination of long wait times and disappointing food left us pretty unhappy. We went with the "Cherry Blossom" roll, the "Benjie" roll, the "Lady in Red" roll, & "Black Pink" non rice roll. Came here to Sapporo yesterday and I had to say I had an excellent experience. The staff were really friendly and the service was top notch! Always made sure if we received all items we ordered. We ordered The ToroTaku handroll and it was the fatty tuna melted in my mouth with the scallions on top. We also ordered uni sushi and it was very fresh! Aloha All, Today I decided to try this establishment since I pass it going to work and home. There is sufficient parking space in the plaza, not sure what the busy times are and how holidays affect the flow. I ordered the calamari and mixed tempera to start, the waitress was kind and advised me I was there during their lunch specials "Buy one get one 50% off" so I ordered 2 shrimp crunch rolls. The waitress brought me soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger. The condiments tasted old and dry,like they prepped it last week and it finally made the rotation to the table. After having my appetizers, it took another 10 minutes to get my crunch rolls, by then my stomach was settling in and full, when my rolls finally got served, I had two pieces and asked my waitress for my check and a box. Not the expectation I had and the experience I wanted. I'm on the fence if I'm going to go back or recommend this establishment to family and friends. My experience was truly very "Blah!" One of the greater sushi places in LB for sure. I've been hearing so many people talk about this place that I had to try it out. So many options on the menu that it overwhelmed me, but they're all such great options. I got the Seaweed Salad, Sapporo Roll, and the 2 pc Sushi (Bluefin Tuna). The quality of the fish is so fresh and doesn't taste "fishy" at all. My friend got the 2 pc Sushi (Fatty Tuna) and it was so much tastier than the one I got. I would ask for the market price before ordering so there aren't any issues. As for the Sapporo Roll, other rolls my friends ordered had better taste and flavor to them so I would get other options next time. The seaweed salad came out first and it was also great along with the rolls for the texture and taste. Take adavantage of their Buy One Get One Roll. Shoutout to the wonderful staff, especially my waitress Tina, who was so attentive, and the manager Jack, who made sure everything was perfect. The food was fantastic and the live shrimp was a standout--they literally pull a shrimp out of the tank and prepare it in front of you! They're located in a plaza with free parking and has a spacious interior that's perfect for large groups. It was my friend and I, and even it was only 2 of us and nobody around us, they added the large party tip gratuity in the bill. The food is good but something is always wrong here. 1st off there is free parking. it's right by the college. They have buy 1 get half off signature roll. They aren't busy at all. The place is quaint. The staff kept checking in on us. But there was many things off. I noticed the seafood in the case didn't look fresh at all, it looked like frozen fish, and the case was left cracked open instead of being enclosed. We got the rainbow roll, pick me up, Snow White roll, and wiki roll. The Fatty Tuna SU, Japanese Yellowtail SU, Salmon SU, yellowtail belly su, Mackerel SU, Red Sea Bream SU, Snow Crab Leg SU. The chef did make the sushi fast, and cut the seafood correctly, but they cut the sushi not evenly. One roll would be thicker and one would be thin. The plating does look good. But the sushi rice fell apart when picking up. The Snow White roll was thick and the cream cheese was warm, gooey, and melty. The wiki roll had the lemon too sour and I don't think should be on a roll. All the SU were not fresh at all. The yellowtail and crab leg were fishy. The tuna was slimy. We got the steamed dumpling and yellowtail sunrise. I would say the yellowtail sunrise was the only good thing we got. I would say this was the worst sushi I've had. Terrible service. Recent changes to the menu are disappointing. Selection used to be great, but is no longer. Not being acknowledged forever even for drinks is unacceptable. Especially, when we frequent often. Just has gone down hill. Complained to server as we left and she said "really" instead of I am so sorry. My husband let hwr know that with that type of attitude we will never be back. Take some advice and go back to what was working previously. Hire back some decent staff. My family and I have been coming here for many years. It's one of our go-to sushi spots. I love the traditional Japanese ambience and their bento boxes are great too. The prices are a bit more expensive than others but when it comes to the sushi/rolls.... definitely worth it! The service can be a hit or miss at times, but mostly, not bad! This review is a couple days late but better late than never! Sapporo Sushi is in a strip mall, went around 9:30 had no trouble finding parking. Only indoor seating - options for a booth, table, or bar. Came here for dinner with my sister. When we entered we were seating right away and we're given complimentary edamame. We wanted to try a couple different things so we decided to order a dinner bento box each and a baked roll to share. The Bento Box comes with rice, miso soup, salad and your choice of two to three items. Two Item Bento Box: korean bulgogi and salmon roll (additional $2 for this item). Korean Bulgogi came in a large portion and meat was tender and juicy. Salmon roll was fresh and they added cucumber which gave it a nice crunch. Baked Salmon Roll: So good! The roll was so flavorful and practically melts in your mouth Given the large portions we both had leftovers. Service was unbelievably quick! Also, our waitress Rachel was so sweet and made our experience so great. Overall, I really enjoyed my time here! Staff is quick and friendly. Food was great and came out fast. Also, there is a plethora of parking and seating. I'd recommend Sapporo Sushi to anyone. read more

I've eaten at Sapporo Sushi since 2015. The restaurant has gone through several iterations of owners and managers. Not all have been good. The current ownership and team are great. The sushi chefs are knowledgeable and show a definite confidence in their ability to deliver quality fish. The staff has for the most part always been friendly and the service at the moment is great.
