The food selection is relatively limited in San Elijo and this particular location has struggled in the past with other failing restaurants I have seen in the past year of living here. So, I was cautious at how good this Sushi place would be so I started reading some reviews and it seemed worth checking out. So, I walked over there today with my daughter and decided to give it a shot. I first noticed the inside is still pretty small but they did a good job with the outdoor seating area. We sat inside since I was more focused on trying the food first before getting too caught up in where we sit. I ordered the Amigos roll to start (spicy tuna inside and cajun salmon outside) and it was very good, high quality, and different from other rolls I have had. My daughter got the kid's teriyaki chicken which also seemed like a good value (it came with gyoza, California roll, rice, and fries?? ok, whatever not a big deal but was weird). Needless to say, I was so impressed with the Amigos roll that I ordered another one, this one was the Adios Habanero roll which was VERY SPICY. Be cautious with this one, it tastes incredible but it does sneak up on you and will stay in your mouth tingling for a while. I have to say, the staff seems a bit overwhelmed for how busy it seems to be getting now that the good news is traveling about how good this place is. That being said, the food still came out very fast, especially the sushi rolls. The servers are also very, very friendly. It really is awesome to have a good sushi place in San Elijo now and I hope this place continues to do well. One final note, thank you for staying open until 9:30pm! Everywhere else around here seems to start closing around 8ish so that is much appreciated. read more

Their rolls aren't made with huge amounts of rice to make it seem like good value. Just the right balance of fish and rice to make it tasty. Service was spectacular! Was seated right away outside since we had a puppy with us. After we placed our order, one of the workers came over and gave us freshly cooked salmon for the dog. Told us he just cooked it so we needed to cook it down a bit. And it wasn't just a bite worth of salmon. It was a good 4 ozs of salmon. Prices were reasonable and ambiance was good. Came in to get dinner with my Wife and daughter this evening (see triple Scorpio reference in my wife's review Lol) can honestly say this place knocked my socks off. I'm from LA and used to great sushi. 3 years in SD and I haven't been impressed with the sushi. This place impressed me. Loved the baked Scallop roll! Sushi chefs were putting in work! Would highly recommend for some quality sushi! If you're used to some 9.99 rolls, this is not going to be your cup of tea - you're paying for quality here and it's worth every penny. Saturday 1/17/26 I ordered to go 3 sushi dishes, including one roll. None of the rice used was seasoned with the usual vinegar solution, but instead was just plain, short grain white rice. The vinegar,sugar and salt seasoning is essential to making sushi rice, which is called sushi meshi, or shari in Japanese. When my wife called to ask if there was an oversight, the man answering told her that it was "sushi rice" and hung up. No stars for this restaurant, if the itamae doesn't know the difference between plain rice and sushi rice, he/she shouldn't be serving fake sushi. read more

A new addition to San Elijo Hills... unfortunately not sure how long they will last. First to note is the very extensive menu... a bit overwhelming in a not good way. I noticed that most of the ingredients weren't featuring fresh fish. Also noticed they named a roll "homeless" and that's just distasteful. Secondly, the prices are high- most specialty rolls are $17. We ordered 1 beer, 1 soda, 4 specialty rolls, and 1 California cut roll. The total with tip was around $115. Cost to me matters less if the sushi is top notch but this was not the experience I had. The sushi itself tasted mediocre... the taste and price were a bit mismatched. Service was ok, friendly young staff but not intuitive. Had to ask for plates, a dish for soy sauce, and wasabi. Nice outside patio area. There are a few other neighboring sushi places that are much better and that is likely why I would not return. This place will need some happy hour prices or specials to keep customers returning . read more

Great area right in the middle of the San Elijo square. We went last night as we have been waiting for this restaurant to open. Excited to have a sushi restaurant close by. You need to enter your name into an iPad as you come in, but once that's done wait for your name to be called and the wait is worth it. They did an excellent job on the inside and outside with the lighting, TV's and music. Every person was very attentive (shout out to Dustin) and the sushi was fresh.
