While strolling through Chelsea Market in the morning, I gave in to my empty stomach and stopped by Sarabeth's for a quick bite. Honestly, judging by all the ropes and line dividers, I figured this place gets seriously packed. Lucky for me, it was quiet that morning so I slipped right in. I ordered the Cornbread-Avocado Bruschetta with a black coffee. I didn't expect the wait to stretch close to 15 minutes, especially with no one ahead of me. It threw me off a bit, and to be honest, the presentation didn't exactly scream "worth the wait" either. But that first bite proved me wrong. Toppings were layered with care, and the cornbread underneath was surprisingly moist without feeling too dense. Each bite came with something different, thanks to the mix of creamy avocado, a light touch of vinaigrette, and some fresh cilantro that kept things refreshing. It was this mellow blend of North American and Latin flavors that somehow made the dish stand out. So yeah, in the end, it was worth it. Only wish I had someone with me to try more things together. Visited this place on a food tour - came back for more! The biscuits are the best you'll ever have - buttery, soft, salty. These "jams" are unlike what you find anywhere else. They are rather fruit spreads. No added pectin and not too much sugar, the result is very fruit forward rather than overtly sweet. As we shopped for all the flavors we wanted, Sarabeth herself came by to help us choose. She explained which batches were better and why and what her personal favorites are. Very cool experience. Shockingly most places in Chelsea Market don't open before 11am, meaning that if you're looking for a quick brunch spot after a morning weekend run on the West Side Highway, it's almost better to go home and shower before stopping at Chelsea Market and arrive after 11am. The biscuits are the best thing about Sarabeth's and most other items on their menu are just subpar and you could probably make a better version of their breakfast and lunch items at home. What's even more confusing is that an order of biscuits only includes biscuits. Butter or jam is not included. Who eats a plain biscuit? That being said, their biscuits are nice and fluffy and if you were to microwave them for 15 seconds, you could have a hot biscuit! read more

I've scarcely met a bakery that I didn't like, so the chances are always high I'll enjoy a few baked goods or breakfast. Sarabeth's provided the latter--a simple breakfast sandwich on a lovely (if not somewhat chilly) October morning. We perused the options, and while I'm not sure that this local chain is precisely what one thinks about when visiting Chelsea Market, I think the quick counter service and reasonable (Manhattan) pricing was what really drew us in. I also love the open windows that let you see into the whole place. One note: due to what must be some kind of local zoning or permitting, you can't eat your food in the bakery space. You have to go back out into the main hallway/corridor area where there are a handful of seating options. The one that was on the Upper East Side near my apartment closed permanently. I'm not one to wait in line to get a table. I also don't like to be committed to a reservation. What I do is stop in for a pastry to go. Typically I buy a cookie. It's all so delicious there's no telling what I'll buy. I'm super happy I found the biscuits at Fresh Direct. They're six frozen in a package. They are very tiny. I love the simple ingredients and the low carbs. They're pricey for the quantity. Naturally my daughter complained about the price when I requested them for Christmas Dinner. She appeared to enjoy them. Right now with the virus getting worse I won't get to the bakery. I ended up stopping at Sarabeth's when the market opened. There's very limited places opened at 9am. They open super early and you can sit on the tables outside the shop and eat your food. They do check for vaccination cards. I ordered the iced coffee and chelsea market sandwich which is basically a bacon, egg and cheese on fancy bread. The bread was thick looking but so SOFT, fluffy and chewy inside. I absolutely loved it. It was extremely filling. The eggs were super fluffy. I loved it. The coffee was okayy. A little overpriced, but it was something expected especially eating at Chelsea Market. I got a fruit tart there for about $8 which was absolutely delicious. Expensive? Yes. But I'm relieved that at least the berries on my tart were all fresh and beautiful, and none of it was sour. The tart is also pretty filling and I ate it as a snack but it seems filling enough to be an entire meal to be honest. There's nothing particularly special about the tart. It seems to me that some of the previous reviews rated this place badly because they were expecting this to be a normal Sarabeth's. It is not. Someone even said they came here for brunch (?). This place is just a small bakery with limited seating inside Chelsea Market that is not meant to be a full service restaurant. It appears that they make all the pastries for the chain here and then deliver them to the restaurants. You can actually see the workers baking on the factory floor through the glass. They have a basic menu of hot and cold coffee drinks (cappucino, expresso) and juices. They offer a few sandwiches, but mainly they just offer the various pastries being produced here. We tried several such as the cheese bread, scones, and a fruit crostatta. Everything was pretty fresh and tasted fine. The drinks and pastries are slightly overpriced (mainly in the $4 to $5 range) but that is to be expected. read more

Wish I had checked the Yelp rating on this place before coming here for brunch on Saturday. This place is decidedly mediocre and too expensive for what you get. My husband and I ordered the famous NYC breakfast sandwich, fried chicken salad, mini cherry pie and seasonal fruit tart. The breakfast sandwich was fine, but the eggs were a little too moist and fluffy. It made the texture of the sandwich unpleasant. The chicken salad with buttermilk dressing was fine, but a bit on the bland side. The cherry tart was also bland. The cherries needed a little more kick like a splash of lemon or another acidity. The pie crust was thick and also bland. Same story with the seasonal fruit tart. The pot sucre the bakery uses is thick and cakey instead of light and buttery. The coffee was fine, but nothing special. So if you want to pay a lot for average run-of-the-mill food this is your place. I've been a long time fan of Sarabeth's jams (old school Apricadabra was the best!). I got the closest thing to it -- peach-apricot. I had to get on a plane, so the folks packed the jams decently well with enough padding to get me home. Thank you! The place is located in the Chelsea Market . During lunch time until late lunch the Chelsea Market is one one the most touristy places to be in especially when the weather is nice. Sometime you just can't move in the Market because there so many tourists so if you looking to be seated good luck. That being said. The establishment is small with extreme limited seating, however they are clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly and welcoming. They always seem to be well staffed. Our orders were taken accordingly. The coffees are good but love there spreads which are pricey. You can purchase their spreads at while folds and other supermarkets. I came here after I ate some tacos (at Los Tacos No.1 which is a must-try btw) because I needed nice cold coffee and a little snack. My friend and I got iced black coffee and then, he got the Egg Benedict and I got the fruit pastry. The Eggs Benedict had perfect eggs which popped and oozed out (check out my video) and it was delicious. Having brunch at Sarabeth's Bakery has been on my list of places to brunch in NYC ever since I started making my list. My friends and I decided to go into the city randomly one Sunday. It was a long weekends, and it was raining, so we thought out chances to find good parking and shorter waits would be good. We strategically chose this Tribecca location of Sarabeth's Bakery because we knew it would have shorter waits than the other locations. Upon arrival we were put on a wait list and only had to wait five minutes for a table for four. The wait definitely grew longer as the morning went on after we were seated. Perhaps we were lucky with our arrival time? My girlfriends and I decided to make our brunch a boozy one and so we all ordered a different array of breakfast cocktails ranging from the Bloody Mary to a variety of make your own Moscow Mules. While I didn't really taste a difference between the Moscow Mules, the drinks were fine. We all ordered different items as well according to our tastebuds. I had the Scrambled Eggs Popover, and while everything was delicious, the cream cheese had melted into the eggs that the popovers ended up lacking ... but it wasn't anything that a side of Sarabeth jams couldn't fix! The server was quick about getting me a side of jam without andy problem. My friends had the adult grilled cheese, lemon and ricotta pancakes, and fluffy french toast - overall, while things could have been tweaked here and there, everyone was satisfied with their selection. The service wasn't rushed, our questions were always answered with a smile, and our water glasses were always full despite their full house. Cute bakery. Beautiful display case of pastries. I tried pan du matin. Never had that type of pastry before. Soft base with a crispy, sweet top. Base was like a dinner Hawaiian roll and top like a palmier. I like the dueling texture and the slight sweet. I also got a nonfat latte. Wasn't as thrilled with the latte. Tasted more like a coffee with milk added. Didn't have a steamed, fluffy taste to it. Coffee taste was ok though. Kind of a light roast. Not strong but not watery or burnt. Hence the three.
