Rip off crooks. Forget the prices you see on their take out menu. You will be super scammed by them when you show up to pick up your take out order. I ordered a 2 meat platter that was priced $18 on my copy of their menu. After driving there, standing in line, and pulling a $20 from my wallet to pay for my order when I got the bad news at the cash register. The girl said the total was over $34. What??? I asked how she figured that total? She explained that meat prices when up, and there's an 18% "surcharge" for the meat over the menu price. Nowhere in the place is there a sign or warning about the "surcharge". Well, I'm good at math, and in my head I calculated $18 x 1.18= $21.24 + 1.33 sales tax totals $22.57. So why was my total $34.25? She had no explanation, but she also didn't make any attempt to fix the problem. So, I could stand there and make a scene with other customers standing in line behind me, or pay the $34.25 and let everyone who reads this review know that these people are out to scam you. There are plenty of other barbeque options in the area where you won't be ripped off with hidden charges, so there is no reason to patronize these crooks and just let them go out of business as the word spreads. read more

If you're from the south, this is not your kind of place. If you order sandwiches to go, better not expect to have any roll left since it will be a soggy mess! If you ask for the meat separate from the roll, you are looked at like ! It is a sad imagination of true souther BBQ. The prices are out of this world high! $$$$ $5.00 for a side of coleslaw or Mac & Cheese which is about 1/4 cup, most of their sides are that much. I suggest they better get another "known for" food item then their potato chips... just bland with no flavor. One plus, their corn bead is good. $5.00 for a 2x2 slice of corn bread. I looked at the menu online and ordered takeout. When I arrived the price was higher than the price online. I questioned why and they said that included a covid charge. The food was not great. The ribs were burnt so bad they were black. If I didn't live 15 minutes away I would have taken them back. They went in the trash and I won't be back. read more

Sometimes when you get there an hour before their soft closing, they delight in telling you, with a fair amount of glee, that they have "good news & bad news." The bad news is that they're all out of food. The good news is that they're all out of food (that is, it's quittin' time & they can go home). Then you're left standing there while they stare at you gauging your reaction, to determine how much schadenfreude they can glean from the situation. This is accompanied by a fair amount of smirking. Mac and Cow is great! Had it twice. Once was eh cuz it don't seem cooked really cooked well seemed like the Mac and cheese was a little cold. the other time was amazing. The cheese was ooowey gooey and brisket was great. Wings are gray but very pricey. Tots are on point. Good tasting variety of sauces as well. read more

Excellent BBQ hole in the wall place that you'll pass by trying to find it because the business like the sign is buried in the middle of a little strip mall. I tried the Brisket, ribs, half chicken, bean, collard greens, coke slaw and corn bread. The only issues I had was the collard greens were pretty plain and watery, the coke slaw was made with mayo which I don't like and the brisket was a bit too fatty (but good tasting). I must say the corn bread was the best I've ever had. Moist and not flaky like most cornbread. You get 3 choices of homemade butter with it(I like the plain) and there's over a dozen BBQ sauce flavors for whatever you're eating. The ribs are also outstanding and the chicken was cooked great. We had the sarcastic swine cater our backyard Covid wedding and they were amazing!!!! First off the food was perfect, I had so many people come up to me and say how it was the best wedding food they have had. I'm not a huge meat eater but my husband is very picky with BBQ, especially brisket and their brisket melted when you put your fork to it, and he was obsessed! Also, they were very conscious about sanitation when it came to covid. They did such an amazing job to make sure my guests stayed safe when it came to passing food and serving dinner and I am forever grateful! I'm going to quantify my very first experience with a solid three stars. I am hoping that after a few more visits, I'll have a better sense of the food. My first visit resulted in the Drunken Cow (steak tips, topped with sauteed mushrooms, onions, and peppers, drizzled with cheese sauce on a soft roll). The steak tips were very well-seasoned and full of flavor. Sadly, not a huge fan of the cheese sauce. I think I would have preferred a sweet BBQ sauce on it because the cheese just didn't do it for me. It was kind of a bummer as I am usually a fan of cheese sauces (even the allegedly gross ones that accompany nachos at the movie theater...I think they are delightful, but you can't account for taste, right?) To be fair, I'm not sure if I simply didn't like the two together (the steak tips and cheese sauce) or if I didn't like the cheese sauce itself. To be determined. I thought the cornbread was amazing and the hush puppies, ermahgerd. I could eat those all day long. Make me a meal of those them there hush puppies and you'll get a 'hoo-wee!" from this old gal. It's a grilled cheese with pulled brisket, mac & cheese, bbq sauce I choose the 3 Meats Platter ($24)(for +$3 you can upgrade to steak tips/homemade sausage (cherry/mango) Chicken, Ribs & Brisket; my 2 sides were collards & hush puppies. Mac & Cow (Grilled cheese w/pulled brisket, mac & cheese, bbq sauce $12) comes with house made chips; upgrade to curly fries/tots for +$2 We were informed when we arrived around 1:30pm that they are out of steak tips & tater tots. First bite into the ribs & I was hooked! The tenderness with the perfect rub made it hard to stop. Not over smoked or over seasoned, not dry nor salty. It was a perfect bite. A quick dip into the honey bbq sauce only enhanced the rib tho I personally don't think it needs it. On to the collards: tender & flavorful albeit a bit greasy due to lots of chunky bacon/pork belly bits. Next up was the OMG hush puppies (3 pcs) with that cinnamon butter that I'd slathered all inside. I WILL go back just for the Hush Puppies. They don't have dessert so this was it for me. The chicken was good too. Skin nice & crisp. Seasoned well & pairs well with the honey bbq sauce. Brisket was a bit dry but got an end cut so might have been the issue. On to the Mac & Moo, I took a bite so I can say a serious sandwich....creamy mac, brisket, bbq sauce & more cheese. Definitely on the rich side so I would share the other half. Thought I wouldn't like the homemade chips seasoned with bbq spices but they are kinda addictive. My fave sauce is the honey bbq. Also tasted the Chuck Norris (tasted like sriracha mayo sauce), Gold Fever (mustard based sauce). My son can't wait to go back to try the other items like smoked wings. As I'm typing this, I realized I didn't get the cornbread that came with my platter. Mgr stop by briefly & asked how things were. So we were able to tell her about our concerns with the major one being temp of meat. They were lukewarm. She told me they are working on getting a heat lamp. I am very picky when it comes to bbq, especially beef brisket or pulled pork. There's another spot I love in Braintree, I work there and used to go often. But with Covid we are working from home now and I live in Bridgewater, so I needed to try something more local. I ordered the beef brisket and something called "burnt ends." Both of these things were some of the best bbq I have ever had. Melt in your mouth and flavored just right, charred to perfection and just unbelievable. Went for lunch today. Got to the counter and was warmly greeted by a smiling and very nice cashier who took our order then repeated our order back for accuracy. Our food was delivered to our table which was a nice touch. We ordered Bbq Nachos and a combo platter with ribs, slaw, mac and cheese, and corn bread. The Nachos are actually house cooked chips loaded with pulled pork, cheese sauce, diced pickles, and just the right amount of BBQ sauce, the portion was huge and tasted great. The ribs (4) on the combo platter were meaty and smoked and seasoned to perfection pulling from the bone easily The taste reminded me of the ribs I had when I went to the Rendezvous in Memphis. The slaw had a bit to much mayo making it too heavy for my taste. The Mac and cheese was good but sort of standard, and the corn bread was moist and tasty. We will be back. read more

Curious about the 1 star reviews comparing this place to a southern BBQ that has been around 100+ years and cranks out 1000s of plates a day. Also curious about the 1 star reviews that mention lack of flavor or small portions (teaspoon sized sides is FAKE NEWS)... We first tried this place at a food truck rodeo and stood around talking about how we couldn't wait to go back. Then the brick and mortar shop opened up. Granted they obviously have some kinks to work out but we will keep going back. Everything we've tried was great. I ordered the Tipsy Pig sammich, the wife ordered the steak tip sub... and we got a 2 meat plate to share (we thought we'd have a midnight snack leftover but it didn't last that long!) Though the sandwiches were messy, they were huge! And tasty! The brisket melted in the mouth. The ribs were smoked to perfection, and fall off the bone! We even unearthed some white bread and pickles under the meat. A pleasant surprise. The sauces we tried were TAAASSSTY! I think some people expect a pile of mushy pork swimming in BBQ sauce with 2 spoonfuls of sides like the other guys in Braintree. The sides - mac and cheese and horseradish coleslaw were good not great. Standard 8oz deli containers (bigger than other takeout sides we've seen). We will try the other sides for sure! The cornbread ( a giant 4" x 4" square) was perfect. While I waited for our takeout, the manager came over and chatted with me. He made me feel welcome, almost like family. He told me to grab some sauces and asked how I heard of the place. The staff seemed very happy to work there and the place was clean, bright, and upbeat. Why not 5 stars? As I said there are obviously kinks to work out for any new business. The prices are a bit high, but not outrageous. Online ordering was easy, but I don't think everything they serve was listed (I didn't know I could get tots!) The chips are tasty, but they don't travel well inside a steamy container! This place is FIRE. My go to is the Mac and Cow. The toast is perfect, the mac is creamy, the meat is tender. Overall such a bomb sandwich. It comes with chips that are seasoned very well but slightly overcooked for my personal taste but still good overall. I also got a platter of Pork Belly Burnt Ends they were fine, I was honestly underwhelmed they were not as tender as I like but the sauce was great. I got mac and cheese on the side which was phenomenal, not much else to say about it is GOOD. I also got the mashed potatoes and gravy which was pretty forgettable honestly next time id choose beans or rice. I also got cornbread with cinnamon butter, man oh man that stuff was good. Tried the super spicy sauce on the side that stuff was flavorful and hot. They also have a big selection of local craft beers which are nice to wash down such a hearty meal. Figured I'd better grab it now before the little parking lot is filled with Hollywood types and I won't be able to get in. The bread was grilled and that was nice. The meat was ok. The mac-n-cheese was eeh. Anyone who knows GOOD mac-n-cheese knows that it can be a religious experience when done well. This was bland and lacked flavor. There is a lack of good BBQ places in New England, I work around the corner from this place and wanted to give it a try. The atmosphere and vibe of the place is exactly how you would want it to be. The BBQ was pretty good, I've had better locally and have had a lot worse. The did forget one small item in my order which I was a little disappointed by, but stuff happens. I would say the biggest knock against this place, for me, is the price vs value. This place is not cheap; which is fine if the BBQ is top notch. For example, 4 average size pieces of cornbread (the cornbread was good), was $11.00 - just for the cornbread. Again, the BBQ was good, hit the spot and I wasn't upset by it - but for the price tag I would expect more. We like barbecue and saw that this place was highly rated. The first time we went we got the Uncle Tim's (4/5); pulled pork (3.5/5); corn bread (3/5) and mac/cheese (2/5). We were surprised that the mac/cheese wasn't very good as it's featured in several of their dishes. I would rate Stouffer's frozen mac/cheese much better (3.5/5). On our second visit we attempted to order Uncle Tim's again but were told that it is no longer on the menu (although they hadn't updated their website). We got two orders of the pulled pork on bulky rolls (3.5 again); smoked wings with honey BBQ sauce (3.5/5); loaded potato salad (3/5); and redneck rice (2.5/5). The potato salad and rice portions were rather small, but not a problem as they weren't that great anyway. This place is decent, but my wife and I agree that Tennessee BBQ in Braintree is on the whole slightly better tasting, less expensive and they serve you faster. read more
