Our water main burst unexpectedly (and rather rudely), and we had just a RIVER of water draining out of our sidewalk gutter. (Not to mention the standing water in the side yard that was vaguely reminiscent of a swamp.) Sarkinen Plumbing came out to look at the issue on a Wednesday afternoon, then sent a crew out that Friday morning. Y'all. They completely replaced our water mainline and hooked it up to our sprinkler system in under TWO. HOURS. Was it expensive? I mean, it was a replacement main water line. It was definitely more than I wanted to pay. But was the crew friendly, on-time, professional, and very good at what they do? Also yes. 100% worth the money. read more

We still don't have the house restored and Sarkinen refuses to have any liability stated it was the part and not the craftsman that caused the pipe burst. I contracted with Sarkinen for an emergency electrical repair on a rental house, so immediate response was needed. The Utilities anchor to the roof had failed causing an unsafe condition, so the Utility correctly disconnected service. Sarkinen was available to respond that day. There work required 4hrs of time for two people, and they charged me $6500 ($250 for materials). Very expensive, but I had no choice. They also did a poor job - claimed they had to replace the meter box and didn't bother to ask about the exact location - so now there is an interference with a gate. They also neglected to install ground rods and a surge protector required by code. They also neglected to call back the City Inspector. As a result, we've had to be there three more times to either watch the house while the Inspector came (after the City informed Sarkinen they had an open Permit), Sarkinen re-did the substandard work and to wait possibly all day for the Inspector to re-inspect. Very expensive, poor quality work and refusing to provide any compensation for my time to address their poor work. Too bad you can't award negative stars as a rating! Avoid. read more

I'm very disappointed with the lack of transparency I experienced with Sarkinen Plumbing. I contacted them to address a clogged kitchen sink--something I knew would likely require a basic snake to clear. When I spoke to their office, I specifically asked what the cost would be. I was told pricing would be based on the technician's estimate once on-site, which gave me hope it would be reasonable. After over a week of calling around and being unable to get someone scheduled, I finally booked with Sarkinen out of necessity. With three kids and a non-functional kitchen sink, I was in a tough spot. When the technician arrived, I was blindsided with a $700 quote for a very basic service that ultimately took 15 minutes to complete. I felt stuck--I needed the sink working and didn't have the luxury of shopping around any longer, so I reluctantly agreed. After the fact, I called the office to express my frustration with the price, only to be told that a basic snake job costs $700. That's the same person who could've told me that up front when I initially called and asked. Clearly, this was not a case of the tech coming up with a unique estimate--this is their standard rate, and that info was deliberately withheld. To me, this felt predatory. Taking advantage of someone in need with a flat, inflated rate and withholding that information until they're already committed is the definition of price gouging. I should've read more reviews and waited, even if it meant going a few more days without a sink. DO NOT STAND BY WORK. NOT TRUSTWORTHY!!! Received our water bill and noticed a large increase. Meter at the curb indicated a water leak. My husband checked under the house and everything was good. Sarkinen came out to find the leak from curb to house. They stated thwre was a leak. After 3 1/2 hours of searching, the plumber mapped and marked the area of leak. Gave a quote and left. My husband dug the area to the pipe under ground and there was absolutely no leak. My husband called and explained there was no leak in the area the plumber mapped. They informed us they could come back out at $200 each hour to find the leak. The cost was already $700 for NOTHING!! We requested a call back from someone and was told management would return our call. 2 weeks and still no call back. Horrible, unprofessional, not trustworthy. Not a true craftsman who stands by their work. We ended up digging our line and found the leak close to the house. Over 20 feet from the mapped area where the plumber stated the leak was. So, I needed to replace my water heater. I picked one up and unhooked the old one. I realized that at 72, I couldn't really wrestle the old one down or lift the new one up. They sent a guy who said they charge $1600 to install a custom supplied water heater. I pointed out that there was only a couple of hours work left. He said that is what they charge. Anyway paid my neighbor $200 to help. We were done in 2 hours... So.. if they are willing to gouge me in this scenario, I have to wonder about their integrity. Daniel and Nick came out to solve the issue, took most of the day, but they were very professional and took extra steps to do a complete job. Our neighbors bath tub imploded basically leaving it raining in our house. We called and they were out the next day with a temporary fix and an estimate for repairs. Charged me and my insurance so I tried to get it straight and was told it was 2 different companies but funny thing same address when you look them up. Had an overflow in my bathroom from sewer line plugging with a big rock?? they left my bathroom floor open to the underside of the house allowing whatever in the house and the smell was horrible they did not come back and cover it until I complained a couple times, I ended up sick with breathing issues and now need a nebulizer, my cats ended up sick and got fleas (indoor only cats) which they have never had must have come in from the bathroom floor being open to the underside of the house ,that cost me another 500 at the ER vet and my mattress has that odor so now I sleep in a chair which has caused neck and shoulder issues and then I had to hire someone else to fix it of course they had someone in mind and I said no thankyou read more

Upon seeing the poor reviews, I'm embarrassed that we hired them at all. Positives: All technicians were very friendly and I think they wanted to be helpful. The actual plumbing problem was fixed quickly and efficiently. Negatives: The job took three-times as long as estimated. Sarkinen Plumbing, HVAC, and restoration teams were all involved and blamed each other for issues and did not communicate with each other. I had to call multiple times to see if someone was coming out. They tried to upsell me in a very manipulative way. I am being charged monthly for a membership that I thought was a one-time charge (they claim I was told, but I wasn't and I have the contract that does not say anything about a monthly charge). They also did not complete part of the job until my husband went into the crawlspace and saw it wasn't done and we called... again. Upon my complaints, they marked down my bill by about 3% I believe. I just called about the monthly charges and they refuse to take responsibility, which would have been a write-off for them of about $45. That was icing on the cake. Scammy Sarkinen came out to my place and quoted $6,000, but I knew right away they were trying to rip me off. I called Summerson plumbing and they did the job for $350. That big of difference in cost should tell you all you need to know, but it gets worse. About a week ago, a friend called me saying she couldn't make it to a holiday party because she had a plumbing issue & that it was going to cost $5,000+. I asked her if by chance it was Sarkinen & she said it was. I told her what happened to me and she canceled immediately. She called me back & said another company quoted $850. I fired them. I asked them to fix a high pressure hot water issue. Over $800 for a repair that didn't fix the problem. I had found a possible solution using Grok that I shared with them. They ignored the suggestion and after 2 weeks, I went to Home Depot, bought the suggested part, reviewed how to replace it on YouTube, took less than an hour to replace, and 24 hours later the fix works perfectly. Paid over 30k for plumbing and a new electrical panel (which they talked my mom into) months ago and both jobs still haven't been completed. I called to check in a month ago and specifically told them to call me back and not her because she is elderly and has memory issues. Being that this is also my home, I want to know what's going on w/o her memory loss confusing things. Instead of calling me back they called her. People in the office were scrambled up not seeing all the work that needed to be finished. Seems they got their m money and now don't care to complete the job in a timely manner. Frustrating to say the least. Our bathroom is still torn up w/ no end in sight and the supplies are all just sitting there waiting to be installed. Positive - they came out quickly (within 24 hrs). They don't charge a service fee just to show up. Negative - to do anything, even run a snake through a clean out (something free from other plumbers) they charge a little over $300. After paying this, if you'd like the video from the snake, it's an additional $300, which is really expensive and out of the norm. We hired another plumber to do the real work and with snake, cam and root treatment was under $300. Also be aware - if you're paying with a cc or debit card will incur a 3% charge. We paid with cash via our routing / account number and they still charged us an additional 3%...kinda annoying. read more

This pluming company is a complete scam. They have visited my house 4 times and every time they try to get me to replace my tankless water heater. I've since learn it is working fine. 1. Comes to do annual maintenance, first 10 minutes begins telling me I need to replace my tankless water heater even before touching it. Tiny bit of corrosion from water exhaust. I pay for flushing maintenance only. They project cost to replace is $5-$6K. 2. 1 year later hot water is intermittent, they come again and tell me I need to replace it the water heater the instant they look at it. I pay for maintenance. They claim it's fixed. 3. April 2024 Hot water is interment again within 3 hours of them leaving from visit 2. I know I was scammed maintenance cost. They come back but I request different person. I request Jordan this time. The issue is a small switch for hot water is broken. They charge me $250. Still insist i need to replace my tankless, project $5-$6k. 4. June 2024, tankless water heater is now dripping. Again, they look at it but never touch anything. Within 5 min of looking, they say it's cheaper to replace. But never identify the issue. I finally call a competitor plumbing, it's a small piece of plastic cap broken. The part is $16 and the fix it for $400. My tankless is perfectly fine and no need to replace. The internal parts are spotless and still shiny. Sarkinen has been working on "fixing" the sewage smell in my main bathroom since November, 2023. They flushed out my lines, they flushed out my air vents on my roof, they replaced the sewer line from our cottage to the main house. ALL TO NO AVAIL!! To date, I've paid them a total of $5,560.97. And still the smell was present, so I hired another plumber (as was told to me by one of their plumbers when he was unable to "find or fix" my smell problem.) MY NEW PLUMBER, JOSHUA ADAM OF ADAMS PLUMBING FOUND THE SMELL IN 5 MINUTES, REPLACED MY "CUSTOMER" PROVIDED FAUCET FOR A TOTAL COST OF $85 + TAX. SARKINEN QUOTED MY $857.14 FOR THE EXACT SAME WORK JOSHUA DID!! read more

Avoid Sarkinen. I wish I had read reviews before I called them! I had drainage issues in one bathroom. They charged me $1125 to remove the toilet and snake the main drain. They came up with all kinds of problems, said my main had failed, had root intrusion, was going to collapse if I didn't fix it immediately with a quote of $8400. They had me on the phone with a manager who agreed to take the price down to $7k and pressured me to get it done that day. He heavied up on me, saying we had established a "relationship" and they value that relationship. We just met, dude. Yuck. Thankfully I had one working bathroom, so I insisted on getting more estimates. Meanwhile I was still having drainage issues in the one bathroom, which they claimed was because of the failed main. The next day I had several plumbers out. One of them fixed the real problem for $30, which was a broken backflow flapper. And all of them used the cleanout in the basement to snake the main drain. Sarkinen claimed the cleanout in the basement was only for the toilet, and that they had to charge me extra to remove the toilet and snake the main. All of the other plumbers said my main was in pretty good shape, had some root intrusion but only needed one repair. Two out of the three additional quotes were for about 1/3 the price that Sarkinen gave. I will never use Sarkinen again. Either they're grossly inept, or pretty slimy - or both! AVOID. read more

I had a very disappointing experience with Sarkinen Plumbing. I called them to unclog my kitchen sink, but they did not solve the issue. I paid $324 for a "cleaned" pipe, but when I poured a gallon of water into the sink after they left, it flowed through the leak at the sink strainer and none of it flowed down the supposedly cleaned pipe. I was forced to go to the basement and open the clean out myself, which resulted in a lot of black gunk covering the adjacent wall. While the workers were friendly and provided some information about the proper size sink strainer, the service did not produce any results. I am very disappointed with the work that was done, and the price I paid for nothing was too much. I will not be using Sarkinen Plumbing again in the future. read more

Your company is...is amazing! We arrived home after a vacation and right after our housekeeper had done her work. We had a wet spot in the basement carpet...a soggy one that did not disappear over night. I called 3 plumbing companies, and all three said, "You have a leak in the main...going from the meter to the house." Two of them said they'd cut into the concrete and patch the pipe. Sarkinen's service/salesman, Ciro, suggested eliminating the leak and avoiding merely a patch by replacing the line and boring a new one from the meter to the house. His recommendation made sense to us. The drilling crew arrived next day at the scheduled time - - a rarity among contractors. Before boring they closely investigated the location of the line in question. The crew - - Sebastian, Saul, and Loren - - found with "due diligence " that it came to the house from a different direction. They were so convinced, based on their collective knowledge and experience, that Saul and Loren left to go to another job. Sebastian stayed to wait for Ciro to discuss the matter. Meanwhile, Sebastian kept on thinking and mulling the facts. He investigated other potential sources of the water...examining the nearby laundry room and bathroom...and then he looked into the adjacent furnace closet. There he discovered a disconnected condensation line dripping onto the floor - - and beyond the closet wall - - the soggy carpet less than 2 feet away. Viola! Talk about "due diligence," Sebastian's persistence, knowledge, and inquisitiveness were key to the happy resolution. read more

Appointment time was not kept nor did they provide updates on the arrival. Showed up late and without the correct equipment to clear a 30 foot line. Upon leaving with no work done we were handed a $1300 quote to snake out a 30 foot sewer line. Think about that. $1300 to clear a clog that was 30 feet from the lower bathroom. So around 4p I called the company inquiring where the tech is and was told they didn't have an appt in the books for us. I was asked how I scheduled my appt and I mentioned that I did it online as the website stated. Their operator told me that's not the correct way of booking appts and that I have to call to follow up to book an appt. Smh You just lost a new loyal customer. We recently used Sarkinen Home Services for a $20000 plumbing job and are incredibly disappointed. They were not responsive to emergency calls-like when they hit something that flooded our yard. They did not clean out faucets of debris, even though they knew it would cause a build up and poor water pressure. They left pipes and hoses hanging off the walls. They did not replace a dryer vent they removed. They patched holes with gross looking insulation stuff and did not cover it. This was all done while Jason and I were away...leaving my mother to deal with it. They took advantage of a veteran and (sorry mom) senior citizen woman. And...they refuse to fix these issues until the balance of the bill is paid...that we haven't paid because the work isn't complete. AND, after 5 phone calls requesting a manager or owner call back...nothing. Horrible company who took advantage of my mother. Shame. read more

I'm mad at myself, I smelled a scam and I still bit! We needed an outside faucet replaced due to the fact that when turned on, water would enter the inside of the house. We determined that since it only leaked when the faucet was turned on it must be a crack in the faucet itself and nothing to do with any pipes, they agreed. They then said they work on a flat rate and an outside faucet replacement was $750 regardless of the scope of the work or parts required. I seriously questioned them about the cost and was about to say no but I needed it done and I bit. They absolutely knew it was going to be a very simple and very quick repair. They unscrewed 2 screws, unscrewed the faucet and screwed on a new one that sells for $32.15 at Home Depot, they never touched a pipe! They had to move slowly to make the job last 10 minutes. Then when I was asked for payment they told me there was an additional 3% fee to used a credit card! They then tried telling me the pipes used to plumb our hot water heater were crap and should be replaced?? Then wanted to sell us a monthly service plan which was very evident to me that what they wanted was access to to our house to "inspect" and continue to find, in their opinion, things that needed to be replaced. Never ever trust a company that won't separate parts and labor for you on an estimate. Do not hire Sarkinen! We complained about this but they refused to change it and tried to say they are a "full service" operation - DON'T fall for it. They just jargon instead of actually telling you what and how much needs to be replaced and what the condition is. Unfortunately we went with them because we were in a time crunch and no one else could come out - but never EVER again. They put in fixtures we didn't approve of, and who knows what we paid for them because they refused to separate parts and labor. I'm so glad we paired down our list to only the emergency fixes and no upgrades we wanted to make. It just amazes me that people wouldn't run their company in a way they can be proud of - being vague about your pricing and not giving the homeowner options on fixtures they didn't even tell you they were going to need to replace during the estimate.
