Me and my girlfriend love this place. (Which is great for me because they have a buy 1 chicken terryaki, get one for $3.99 - shhhh, I didn't say that) But really, this place is good. Kinda greasy but it's a good cheat meal for me. Ask for fried rice or noodles and get extra terryaki at the end.

    Uneven cooked food.

Unprofessional. Served me uncooked shrimp and beef purposely. Very unsanitary. Very dissatisfied. Will not recommend to anyone.

Food is good but lady at register was rusty and rude. Also portion sizes are so small now I might as well go back to panda

They have a massive poster of the Chicken Teriyaki, and advertised deals on certain days for a reason. It's their staple and a must have!

Great food but raised their prices and the service is slowwwwwwwww. Not like it used to be. Took me 45 minutes to get through line once.

Horrible service. You don't get what you pay for. Food is horrible and it does not have a flavor.

Best place in the mall. Get noodles instead of rice (they sauté them in teriyaki) it's a game changer.

Highly Recommended for Authentic Ramen!…read more I was looking for an authentic ramen place in town, and this spot came highly recommended--it did not disappoint! The Ramen: Truly authentic. You can tell by the broth, which tastes 100% homemade. It's not that MSG-heavy style that makes you want to drink a gallon of water afterward. I tried three different kinds, and all were outstanding. A standout was the cold noodle with a side of dipping soup--so interesting! You soak the noodles in the soup before eating. It might be a love-or-hate dish for some, but I found it unique . A Note: If you prefer a heavily seasoned, traditional American-style ramen (on the saltier side), this might differ from your expectation. Their flavors are more balanced and nuanced. Also Tried: The sushi was good--not outstanding, but reasonably priced with good portions and a fresh taste. Dessert Lovers, Listen Up! You must try the Fried Ice Cream. It made me feel like home! Hot, crispy, doughy outside with cold ice cream inside. So yummy!

I also liked that they had iced green tea and it was pretty strong. I forgot the names of the rolls, but you can probably tell from the pictures that you won't go wrong choosing Haru. Servers were nice and when I came it was pretty quiet. It's really close to the mall too, so I was able to walk off some it. Ha I also had the mochi ice cream for dessert, pretty generic but a great end to the meal. I would totally come back!

I always get steak and its been beefy and juicy without any fat, gristle, or other questionable parts sometimes found on restaurant beef cuts. They are always good about hearing the family member with the special requests. No onion on anything means broth for soup and said family member is happy with that. They oblige on the fried rice by cooking her veg without onion on a separate part of the grill. The chefs we have had do a couple of the things that I guess is part of the experience? Ultimately, if you are looking for hibachi in Fort Wayne, Sapporo is worth your time.

There was 3 people at the door I told her there's 3 of us but only 2 of us are eating and I wasn't hiding the bag it was in plain sight. The guy takes us over to the table lays out the menus and says "they will be with you shortly" we thanked him and sat down. While we're looking at the menu a woman comes over and says "we have a strict rule of no outside food, and there's signs all over the door that say so" I said "but the 3 people at the door seen we had it and seated us?" Confused. She said "I don't care if you would've read the doors you would've known" my husband says to me "that's fine, we will go somewhere else" she mutters "yea go f*cking somewhere else" I said "wow we don't have to have an attitude" she said "yea we don't have to have a f*cking attitude" and whips her head at my husband. We left and there were absolutely no signs on the doors. There were 2 signs for food allergies NOT outside food. That's besides the point now. Once we got back to the car I was in disbelief I decided to call and ask to speak to a manager. I started to tell him the timeline from when we walked in to when she came over, he cut me off and said "yes we do have a strict policy about no outside food" I said "sir I understand that, and that wouldn't have been an issue but you do not treat people that way, she cussed as us" he cut me off again and said "ma'am I assure you, she did not cuss at you" my husbands in the background saying "yes she did". And he kept saying it. He was being ignorant and not listening to what we were saying and wanting to argue. So I finally said "your restaurant is a f*ing joke" and hung up.

The restaurant has that classic hibachi atmosphere, the sound of the grills going, and every table gathered around watching the chefs cook right in front of you. There's always something happening, whether it's the flames, the knife tricks, or everyone laughing together. It makes dinner feel more like an experience than just a meal. Our server was super friendly, and our chef was just as great, keeping everyone entertained while cooking. The whole presentation was exactly what I was hoping for, but the real star of the night was the ribeye steak. It was cooked to a perfect medium, with a warm pink center that kept every bite incredibly juicy and tender. The outside had a nice sear, while the inside stayed buttery soft. As the chef cooked it on the flat top, the seasoning and soy sauce caramelized around the meat, creating this rich, savory flavor that coated every bite. It had just the right balance of salt, garlic, butter, and that signature hibachi flavor that keeps you reaching for another piece. The whole experience was a lot of fun, but that ribeye is the reason I'd come back.

They give you a ton of food for the price and their miso soup was excellent (definitely the best part). The Hibachi was tender and well seasoned/flavored, but not the best we've had in town. We'd probably order carry out again, but we do prefer Sakura, Umi, or Kyoto for dine in... Still good/solid Japanese however.

On this occasion we occupied the large group room. The room was cozy and allowed our party to have an intimate room to ourselves. The staff here was very friendly and helpful. There was plenty of help to serve our larger group. They were a bit slow...but allowed us to pace ourselves and enjoy the fellowship. I was impressed that they hustled a child's order ahead of the adults food to keep them satisfied. I didn't see the waiters come back through much after the food was served. On this trip I ordered the steak teriyaki bento box. The box is a bit expensive compared to Other places. However the sinking atmosphere, location, quality and volume...justify the price in my mind. The box came with a cup of miso soup. The soup was tasty and a lot like you would expect for a Japanese restaurant. It did not come with a salad as many other places might. The box was stuffed with food! The steak es piled high and excellent! It was very tender and moist. It had a nice teriyaki flavor marinated in the meat. There were two crab Rangoon pieces and two egg rolls. Normally you would only expect one of each. The crab Rangoon wrapper was cooked so that it was a bit oily and the wrapper was mushy. The filling was plentiful. However I felt like the filling was lacking on crab taste and overpowering on cream cheese. The egg Roll wrappers were a bit more crispy without being too crispy. The wrapper was a bit greasy to taste. I found the filling...while fresh...to be a little mushy as well. There were five pieces of a California roll included. That was a lot of sushi to eat as well. The roll was tasty. It was put together nicely and gave you a good taste of each ingredient.

The lunch bento box is straight up hits: a California roll, shrimp tempura, vegetable tempura, rice and your choice of teriyaki'd protein (chicken, salmon, beef, shrimp or basa, a type of catfish). I chose salmon, which was cooked perfectly. The salmon was placed on top of the rice, so the rice kind of soaked up the teriyaki sauce and made it nice and delicious. My bento lunch came with a cup of miso soup, and it was so nourishing and briny, like only miso soup can be. So yeah. I didn't taste any of the sushi here at Umi, unless you count a California roll, which I don't. But they have lots of different types of rolls, nigiri and hand rolls. Umi also has a large menu of sake. So large, that I thought I would be remiss to not get sake to go with my lunch. The menu made me do it! So I got the chiku bai Nigori sake, and it was so smooth. Sake is served in a small pitcher with a small ceramic cup. I wasn't sure if the sake pitcher was supposed to be shared, but there was only one cup, and there was only one me, so I went for it. A sake buzz during lunch ... how extravagant. I visited for a late lunch, around 1:30 p.m., and I was the only person in the whole place. I got the full attention of the very nice server, who had 20 pens in her apron ("For when it gets busy and it's only me," she said, because I asked her why she has 20 pens in her apron.) The restaurant is tastefully decorated on the inside.

I had questions about the sashimi salad and appreciated his opinion on it. When I asked how the crab rangoons were, I could tell he genuinely thought they were a good item to order - and they did not disappoint! The picture only shows 4 rangoons because I already ate 3, so the fact it comes with 7 is a great deal. I also ordered the chirashi since I love sashimi, and I was told I was given a few extra pieces. 2 salmon, 2 tuna, 3 yellowtail, 2 scallop, 2 unagi, 2 octopus (or squid?), 2 imitation crab, some salmon roe, and 2 lobster tail chunks; seasoned sushi rice on the bottom. This was a very filling meal. It's a dimly lit restaurant with a calm ambiance. I saved this place to come back to when I'm in the area again for work.
