Nice presentation and good sushi; however, it's pretty expensive. Two pieces of Toro was $24.50. We ordered 4 rolls total and an order of Toro and it came to $98. They actually overcharged us $127 but we caught it. We were the only ones sitting at the sushi bar and service was good. But I don't think we will be back because of the prices. read more

Great sushi! You wouldn't expect it in a location like that but trust me you will be surprised! Melt in your mouth fresh fish and so delicious! We were just two and stopped there for a quick lunch on a workday. As soon as we were seated we were greeted by a kind lady (assuming the owner) who gave us two menus. She came back with water, and 2 small plates of edemame. We started with two miso soups and got the sashimi B combo and a Hana roll. Sashimis were so so delicious and fresh, really good! Worth the steep price! And the Hana roll had some crab meat in it and topped with a spicy sauce - it was all so delicious and the spices and sauces were just right! Today my group of four decided to ordered a sashimi D combo which was supposed to come with 28 pieces total so we could all each take a bite but it was mistaken to only 21.. Our fault for not realizing after we went home. We also got the first sushi combo which we thought was fine. Ambiance was good and service as well. Really great service, we came around the holiday time and they were all very pleasant and prompt with our dishes. That said regarding the food, the shrimp tempura was good but the spicy tuna and California rolls didn't pack much flavor or freshness. Also, when we entered there was strong sulfur or vinegar-like smell which almost made us turn away but we really wanted to give them a shot. Other notes; they seem to be Mexican - Japanese theme which is unique as they have Sushi nachos on the menu. One word for this place WOW! There was a previous review of this place that said not to judge a book by its cover and they are absolutely right. I am a new local so I am always on the hunt for good sushi joints. As a pregnant woman I have to find places that have cooked fish in rolls to at least keep the cravings at bay. Upon entering staff was super friendly and the place was very nicely decorated. Very clean environment and although there was music and a TV on it was not loud. We were allowed to sit wherever we wanted. Bar, table or outdoors. We opted for the bar to just get our food from the sushi chef. Everyone was polite and attentive and constantly were around to clear out empty plates. Since I can't exactly eat raw fish at the moment I ordered a basic California roll and was surprised by the quality of a simple roll. I love sushi it's one of my favorite foods and I can always tell when something isn't quite fresh. Everything tasted amazing. My favorite roll is a Philly roll and I know I can't again have raw fish but they had a deep fried Philly roll so I was extra excited to order it. Although I'm not a fan of deep fried rolls these were very flavorful. Pricing is quite a bit for the rolls like $12+ for 8 pieces but they give you a decent amount and you pay for the quality of the food. Our CA rolls were a little under $6 for 8 pieces. At the end of our meal the chef gave us 2 pieces of sushi on the house. I look forward to visiting again. read more

The food is good here. And place is in a small quaint plaza and the service is good! The only thing is if you sit near the bathroom, you can smell the stench which doesn't make the experience all that great. This should be a quick fix for them. I was a little skeptical to try this place at first, a sushi place in Lake Forest? With a generic sounding name? But there always seemed to be people even on a random weeknight so I thought I would give it a try. And I was pleasantly surprised! First of all, we sat inside and our server was both friendly and enthusiastic. We were glad to hear that they would happily make substitutions to their rolls. They spray all their nigiri sushi with yuzu which gives it a very pleasant smell, but it did add to the vinegar taste of the rice ( I prefer my sushi rice more on the sweet side). For all the sushi places we've ever been to they always give us a nice friendly greeting as we enter, didn't receive that here (I'm ok with that, was anticipating the food!) But then we received the edemame that they usually give you in the beginning. I'm not even joking it was like 3 pieces per person. We ordered 3 rolls total, waited about 25 min or so for the first one to come out. Then another 10 in between each roll. We also got seaweed salad that took like 15 min to come out and the portion was like 4 tablespoons for $10. Service wasn't very attentive either. Not sure I would return. read more

The quality of the fish was fresh and the ratio to fish and rice was good. I was afraid it wouldn't be enough but it actually filled me up. My friends got the mission Viejo roll and 2 baked rolls. I don't understand how this got such good rating..... sushi, rolls, sashimi.... All horrible. We came here a couple of years ago and didn't like it. We thought we would give it a second chance & regret it. Fish was NOT cold- which made it even worse. And almost EVERY roll is stuffed with spicy tuna- which is like a cheap filler. Flavor was bland and disappointing. The whole place smelled like muggy bathroom water and I feel like I will be sick from it all later I hate to be harsh but they really need to work on their rolls. read more

I stopped by at Sashimi on my business trip in the OC. The Yelp! reviews were so great that I had to drop by and try for myself. I got to the restaurant just before dinner hours, but the folks there let me in early. I situated myself at the bar right in front of the TV to catch NBA playoff. I took advantage of happy hours and ordered a large Sapporo beer for $4.50. That was a really good deal, and that was the extent of my alcoholic beverage consumption. I ordered fried soft shell crab to start my meal and Sashimi Special via Chef Selection, 7 different fish and close 20 pieces. While I was waiting I got a plate of edamame to munch on. The soft shell crab came out quick and I enjoyed the sauce that came with it. The sashimi came a little later but they were so good. There were fish that I normally had at sushi restaurant but they were so fresh. The chef also use fresh wasabi as seen in pictures. The fatty tuna just melted in my mouth. Kampachi (high grade yellowtail) was off the hook. The sashimi was so good that I carefully added a bit of soy sauce to not ruin it. After sashimi, I had a spider hand roll, which was a big piece. Again, the soft shell crab was fried perfectly but I think there was too much avocado in the roll. The food was great, and the service was on point. Should this be a 5-star rating place for me? Well, I would say almost. Why? it was the check, or rather number on the check. Everything came out to be $75 total, which means that sashimi was around 40 something dollars. While it was good, I don't think it is something that I would eat on regular basis. Next time, I will carefully pick out what I want instead of doing 'chef specials.' This is nothing negative about the establishment, but I consider rating restaurant for its bang for the bucks. read more

They have a handful of super yummy vegetarian rolls and they can accommodate GF dietary restriction (GF soy sauce). Even the music was fantastic! We have been going to Sashimi for over a decade. Affordable, quality fish and GREAT service. So glad they survived the last few years. The food is great and our family loves to get together to enjoy it. The hard part is to choose which items we double or triple order on. We enjoy the full range of the menu.
