Finally got to try this Vegan/Vegetarian inclusive wine bar! I came with a friend & we feasted. We ordered the olives, homemade focaccia & mushroom cups. The olives had their pits but were flavorful and the mushroom cups were light and tasty. But the focaccia won me over! It came out warm and served with balsamic vinegar with roasted garlics were like butter. We also tried their lemon cake and the passion fruit sorbet. They were amazing together! read more

Yum-a-lish!!! I finally tried Satellite and it definitely didn't disappoint! Loved everything from the super cool, modern space vibes to the extensive wine list and of course, the delicious vegan/vegetarian food that brought my friends and I to flavortown! We tried the Dukkah'lings, Vegan Tacos, and Yoga Pants Salad (recommended to us by the waitress). Everything was super fresh and unique. I'm vegetarian so I'm a bit biased, but the food was so tasty and my non-vegetarian friends thought so too. I mean we ate fricken carnations! I think I'm in love.... Or at least it feels like love from the first impression! May I just say the wine list brought a tear to my eye and a flutter to my heart. Finally- a place with a selection of good old world wine in SB. This is how you do wine baby- While I do love our own local stuff ( I mean just head to the funk zone and you'll have enough locally grown and produced wine to last you a life time) I am an truly an old wine woman at heart. I'm also a self-proclaimed wine snob and dare I say, Satellite has done it! It's easily apparent that every wine listed on the menu was chosen by someone who knows wine. So from the extensive expertly curated wine list to the uniquely flavorful vegetarian food menu, this is a vegetarian wino's heaven. I ordered the most sumptuous, moist, spicy, vegan shiitake mucshroom tacos. This is a dish that my grandmother taught me to make, and one of my go-to vegan meals to this day. I can definitely vouch for Satellite, as they were able to capture the unique meaty flavor of the mushroom while complimenting them with the tangy smoky chili pepper flavor that makes them so delicious. To drink I chose a French Sauv blanc - chenin. Tasted like a "sophisticated" sauv, layers of flavors changing subtly from nose to finish. perfect pairing for the rich and sultry raclette. There was a light effervescence and mid-range tannins with a light acidity. I will note the raclette was nothing like I expected. Rather than the traditional sizzling cheese on the top contraption and veggies on the bottom, it came all in one mini cast-iron skillet still very good but if you're used to having your raclette in Europe sitting around a table with a group of friends this isn't the same deal. I couldn't help thinking I wish this place was around during my Tinder/Bumbl dating years! Because a date here would have definitely hit the mark with me. People: take your special someone on a romantic day date to Satellite in Santa Barbara and get your girl one of those orange Aperol spritzers and yoga pants salad looking out at state street and then walk her across the street to the art museum. You'll both feel like you've spent the day in Europe without the price tag of the flight :) if that is not a recipe for a good time I don't know what is!!! Pro-Tips: They do you have a super spicy secret special sauce that they can bring out if one of your dishes so requires. just ask! Went to @satellitesb the other day. Here's my thoughts: -First things first, if you're looking for some late afternoon drinks and people watching, this is the spot. Right on state street with a pretty sweet pergola setup, let's just say if you've got a date you're not sure you can carry a whole night of conversation with then come here because the entertainment will be provided for you -Tons of great wine options. They also have a drink of the night (day? Week? Month? Forever?) aside from that. When I went it was a Spritz of some kind. Not gonna lie I didn't love it, BUT I don't love aperok spritz's and the like so that's not fair for me to judge. my wife who does like them says this was really good. So, for me 6/10. For probably everyone else 8.62/10 - What I was shocked about here though ended up not being the drinks. It was the food. Man oh man did they crush it. All their food is organic and from local farms. And I'm pretty sure their ingredients/dishes change based on what's available locally at that time (this could also be a lie so don't quote me on it). But we got the Focaccia and the Tomato/Beach/Burrata/Pesto dish. Both were just insane and also so filling. But not in a heavy way. In a "I came here just for apps but I'm completely satisfied and can go home to watch criminal minds all night instead of pretending I want to be out" kind of way. I'm sure their other stuff is awesome too but if I came and just ordered this every time I came back I would be satisfied. This is organic food done right. 10/10 Overall - 8.5/10 Final thoughts - I really enjoyed Satellite a lot. The employees are all super nice, they have a good wine selection, and the food is #SoFreshSoClean I'd recommend coming here if you need to unwind after a long week, long day, long hour, whatever it may be. My daughter suggested this place for wine and small plates and it turned out to be spot on! Tons of wines by the bottle and a decent selection of wines by the glass. We shared the bruschetta which was a fantastic California spin-off of an Italian classic. Also on the small plates menu were veggie tacos, Japanese sweet potatoes, raclette (this is supposed to be amazing but we were still too full from Thanksgiving dinner last night), and marcona almonds, and black olives. The service is fantastic, both water and wine are served in beakers for that cool industrial look. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! Been here before and was good, but this afternoon was beyond horrible. Our bartender/server was either drunk or on drugs. I was there with 2 of my girlfriends, and he repeatedly made inappropriate comments and was trying to pick up on us. If I had mace I probably would have used it, it was that bad. My main dish salad was fairly ho-hum and I expected more because it's a favorite, but maybe it was just an off day. I'll try again. The interior design is lovely. Music can be a little loud especially if they are spinning but the DJ will turn it down a touch if you're right in front of the speakers. Wow! Excellent addition to state street! This restaurant has counter service with a large outdoor/state street patio right across from the pizza place. We did a bottle of rose and the farmers market crudité and both were excellent. The patio dining was pleasant and the service was great. One of the best salads i've ever had!!!! I love salads but I don't order them when I go out because they never have toppings I like so I'd rather make them at home but this salad!! OMG! unreal. This is such a cute bar on the main strip in Santa Barbara. Lots of seating type choices. Cool space theme and matchbooks. So many delicious wines to try with Drew the owner there to help navigate you to find something you're really going to love. The food is so so tasty I wish we could have tried more but only has room for a few dishes. The stand out was for sure the smoked shrooms, those things are packed with so much flavour, and the mushroom bread that comes with them too is so unusually delish. Grammy's brownie was also very good and I'm not usually a fan of brownies. Their wine club sounds like such an amazing deal if we were locals. $75 a month for 2 bottles, free flights for 2 every Monday, and then 10% everything?! Can't wait to come back. read more

Super cute place and the cheese board was really delish. The girls who work there are knowledgeable of their wines and cheeses. The only reason I give it three stars is for this reason alone: When we walked in we were greeted with smiles and menus. I was scrolling the wine menu when I asked if they had a certain wine. She said "well this is what we have open tonight" and showed me a few chards (I don't like) and two rose wines. I asked again if that's all they had and she said for tonight yes. So I got a rose. I drank it and it was really good. I asked for anther glass and she said they don't have anymore left and that this is what they have left. It was weird. They didn't have much open and my choices were thin, so we ended up leaving. I don't would have stayed for a while if they had more choices of wine. Edit: I will come back! I really liked the place and it's super cute and the wines were good. There is nothing different they could do, I just wanted some more wines offered. I think they only had about 5 open. I nosh down on the Comte Chz Plate ($9); an extraordinary plate of succulent house made orange marmalade, warm, fresh baked bread, and Comte (a type of gruyere) cheese. Oh the Comte! (Cue Megan Ryan's famous cafe scene from "When Harry Met Sally"..."Yes! Yes! Yessssss!") It's so delicious it's SEXY! On my next bite, the thought crosses my mind, "If Edris Elba were a piece of cheese, he would taste just like this..." Bliss. Daydreaming, I eat a piece a little too seductively before I snap out of it! The song changes, fortuitous, a 70s jam. The owners of Satellite are killing it with their playlist.
