This was my first time at SattDown in Studio City. A friend who lives in LA suggested our meet up for there and it didn't disappoint. It's small and only has 2 tables and most order to go. Everyone ordered a combo so we could have a choice of 2 meets entrees--it was hard to pick just one. I ordered the curry goat and oxtails and the combo included rice and pea and plantains. I would definitely go back. The space also has a store and interesting photos on the wall.

Honestly amazing food and flavor. Reminded me of Jamaica! I met the owner that day too who is lovely. This place is in a parking lot and almost easy to miss so please find this place! Overall delicious, plates are a bit pricey.

Visited Sattdown Jamaican Grill while in Studio City, CA. The atmosphere was casual and laid-back, and the service was friendly. We stopped in craving some Caribbean food and tried the roti -- it was okay, but coming from a Trinidad roti perspective, it didn't quite hit the mark for me. That said, it was still a satisfying meal overall. Overall, a decent spot if you're in the area and craving Caribbean flavors. Saluti

I had the jerk shrimp.. it was so good, and the cabbage was seasoned so well. The oxtail was nice and spicy, also very tender. My favorite drink when I come to is the fruit punch drink. Everyone is always so nice and friendly; the service is always the best . It's a very cute small restaurant, and they have all of the Caribbean spices and pepper sauce. I will come back again for sure.

First meal today: Oxtail w/rice /sweet plantains/veggies. A generous amount of oxtail will leave you wanting more. Then you find yourself sucking the bone . I usually have leftovers but I ate everything. You cannot put the fork down at Sattdown. I'm in a food coma now, yet I have never been happier. Introduce Sattdown Jamaican Food to your taste buds.

Delicious goat curry and amazing service. The owner is very sweet and made us feel at home.

It's been a while since I came so I was surprised when I entered it looked like a convenience store! You order at the counter, and there are a few tables inside and outside. There were quite a bit of food delivery/take out orders. We wanted some oxtail, so we came here and also got the jerk chicken. You can select the heat level but the lowest for the non-vegan and non-seafood is medium. The combo plates come with rice and beans, veggies and plantains. The jerk oxtail was in its own sauce while the jerk chicken was blackened. Consequently while both were "medium" the oxtail had noticeably more heat. Oxtail was quite juicy! Chicken perhaps was too grilled though with some extra burned ends. There is a parking lot but you can also park on the street: metered on Ventura and free (read the signs) on the residential side streets.

Amazingly flavorful, fall-off-the-bone oxtail plate, which paired deliciously with the plantain, rice, and pickled veggies.

Ayooo!!! Back at it again! Stumbled upon this cute Jamaican restaurant/market. Food is togo. I only got a Meat Patty, def will return for some oxtails. Patty was one of the best i've had. It was perfectly flaky with just the right amount of spice in the meat filling. Staff was so nice explaining the menu. There is a parking lot and cards are accepted. Come check this place out

Excellent fire Jamaican joint! Discovered this little restaurant when I was living in studio city and I have to admit it was definitely hit home. Being from Miami florida Caribbean restaurants are very typical and finding a Jamaican spot in studio city was phenomenal. The jerk chicken is beyond fire, the oxtail is point. They have natural juices as well. I highly recommend this spot to anyone wondering if this place is worth it and let me reassure you that it definitely is . The service is amazing, the ambiance felt like being back home in Miami. Will be coming back soon when I get back to California. Thank you !

Chef Tony's personal story is one of perseverance and his love for food is apparent in every dish he serves. Great vibe here, felt like I was eating at home. Oxtails goin crazy and jerk chicken is a mandatory dish too cause it's like that! Epic seasonings nudge their way into every bite of flavor. Pull and Stay Eatin' if you want the real deal!

I always appreciate Sattdown. The food is ALWAYS super good and VERY plentiful for the price. I am sad I forgot to order my chicken soup but I ordered online and it did not have the option. Nonetheless, I ordered the oxtail and goat combo. I was sad that the food did not come with a festival bread. I thought that was standard but I thought wrong. The oxtail and goat was soooooo good. It was tender and just perfect. The beef patty was good. The cabbage and rice was superb and well seasoned. At first, there was NO spice in the food but then I remembered the sauce they gave me, on the side, and I am so happy it was on the side. Mannnnnnn, that was spicy but sooo good and just perfect. I haven't been inside Sattdown in a Long while because I order to go. But I was happy to see that it now also serves as a grocery store so you can pick up your local Jamaican seasoning that you will not find in the store and that was GREAT. They also still have seats, in the cut, to enjoy your meal. It is very bright and just like home. Clean inside and the staff were super kind. The parking lot still is NOT parking friendly. It is still a hit or miss because it is a plaza of many stores and it's literally get in where you fit in

Do they carry Jamaican Style Sugar Buns?

Good morning Sarah I’m sorry it’s a product that we carry only from time to time it’s never always in the restaurant because it’s not very good selling a product

Is it closed for the whole month of July?

    Reopening July 26th Tue with normal hours 12 pm - 4pm, 5pm - 8pm

    Is the restaurant Black-owned?

Yes. Sattdown is black owned. Tony the owner is a talented chef, polite, genuine native of the Caribbean. Him and his wife are wonderful people.

    Is this restaurant BYOB?

Yes. They sell no beer but there is a liquor store in the same mini-mall, so you can can just run over there and bring it back to the restaurant.

    How's the oxtails here?

Eh. Typical. Small portions. Same season as other spots. Not bad. Just not smack your mother good either.

I honestly wish I had ordered more than two. The fresh juices were also a standout; the Pineapple Ginger and Hibiscus were both spot on. Even the imported ginger beer from Kingston was really good. The jerk wings were absolutely delicious, and those small bread rolls (similar to cornbread muffins) were super tasty. The peas and rice and the plantains were also on point. Now for the downsides, the oxtails were disappointing. They weren't very meaty, and at $35 a plate, I expected more than mostly bones. I did get one decent piece, but overall it didn't feel worth the price. The vegetables were also bland. Dessert was another letdown. The sweet potato pie wasn't sweet enough and had an overpowering nutmeg flavor. The cobbler was undercooked, the crust was raw and inedible, and the peaches tasted like they came straight from a can. Overall, a mixed experience, but I'd still come back for the patties, wings, and fresh juices.

Super moist chicken and generous portions. Definitely enough to share amongst 3 adults but can get a bit messy. Make sure you have napkins and if you're taking it to go, to make sure it doesn't tip over! We also got the cheese roll and the Jamaican style beef patty. Wanting to give them another chance, I ordered again this morning. I got the jerk chicken special with rice and peas and cabbage, expecting a fresh, flavorful meal. Sadly, the experience was very disappointing. The jerk chicken was extremely tough and dry, the rice and peas tasted old, and the cabbage appeared spoiled& had a terrible smell (not edible) I spit it right out my mouth. The entire meal was not fresh and was simply reheated in a microwave. I eat Jamaican food regularly, so I know what fresh Jamaican cuisine should taste like. I called the restaurant to address my concerns and hopefully find a resolution. Instead of listening or attempting to make things right, I was repeatedly told that the food was fresh. There was no effort to resolve the issue or acknowledge my experience as a customer. I don't normally leave negative reviews, but after two disappointing experiences in less than 24 hours, I felt it was important to share.
