    Pork rice bowl
    Heather R.

This is likely an unpopular opinion, but felt Saturday Dumpling was just ok. The pork and cabbage dumplings lacked flavor, however they are packed with filling which is awesome! The chicken Caesar sandwich again was good but didn't quite get the hype. That said, the chicken is cooked perfectly. Nice and crunchy. The pork rice bowl was the most flavorful of the items we ordered. The place is cute with a sweet alley type patio. This is a perfect lunch spot and there is parking behind the building in a ramp with designated parking. I know this is the age we live in but ordering at a kiosk doesn't create a great first impression. Delivery of food was quick.

    Spicy Szechuan chicken Caesar sandwich

Have been thinking of trying this sandwich for MONTHS since I saw it on Instagram. Picked up on Wednesday using the toast app and got $10 off so the total came to be about $7. Really great value for what you get. The spicy chicken sandwich is good, but I wish it had a bit more of the salad. Good flavor and heat though! I wouldn't have gotten it without the discount, I feel like $17 is just too much for the size of the sandwich. Inside is super cute so I'll have to come back and dine in and try some of their other items.

Food: despite the name, there are more than dumplings! They have burritos, rice bowls, and veggie/vegan options. There are many sauce options to complement whatever you choose. As taboo and contrarian as this may seem, I wasn't a fan of the dumplings and the chicken bowl was underwhelming. There was a sauce I couldn't pinpoint in the bowl (I think it was supposed to be a green onion mix but it looked like mojo?) and the slaw mix tasted heavily of wasabi. Service: there is counter service, then you seat and clean up after yourself. Service was friendly and efficient. Ambiance: the vibe is inviting--modern, open concept, pink design, and natural light coming from its prime location on the corner of the block. Overall, I get the hype because it's a beautiful spot but the food is not up to par IMHO.

Quality fast-casual place with an interesting menu of rice bowls, sandwiches, and, of course, dumplings. I came in specifically to try the Szechuan Chicken Saesar Sandwich that has been getting a lot of buzz, and I liked it a lot. It has surprisingly-light fried chicken filets with lettuce and a very unique, citrus-y sauce. I would get that again for sure. But I love dumplings and I had to try some. I got a side of four pork dumplings and they tasted great. I ate them very quickly and was sad that they were gone. They have a selection of sauces but only one type comes with the order; others cost extra. They had six different sauces and I want to come back so I can try them all. The Garlic Chili Aioli was okay. The dumpling variety isn't that impressive. Only four types I think. The only ones with chicken are chicken-and-mushroom and that is a dealbreaker for me. But the pork ones I got were very nice. And the service was VERY fast and totally friendly. You order from a screen and take a number. I will definitely return and get that same order again, or maybe try the spicy variety of that chicken sandwich.

Finally made it for my first visit and the service was quick and easy, staff was friendly and the food was amazing! I came this evening for the Szechuan Chicken Caesar Sandwich because I heard it was the best and everyone was not wrong! This sandwich had great taste and the chicken was perfection! I could have easily shared since the sandwich was very filling. I can't wait to come back and try more menu options. The space was so clean and cute and felt super cozy right in the heart of NE Minneapolis. Can't recommend this space any more! Def make a trip here ASAP!!

Great food for what it is- fast casual. This isn't a cheap meal, especially considering you order yourself (on a computer), take a plastic number, and then get your order, and you self-bus. The tables and chairs give Chipotle-level vibes so it's not a comfortable place that encourages you to linger. BUT the decor is cute and funky, and the food was great. Surprised myself by not ordering dumplings. The chicken caesar sandwich was just as good as everyone says- the warm, fresh-baked scallion foccacia was pillowy soft and the sesame crusted chicken was unexpectedly unique and delicious- a nice nuttiness. Added some hot chili oil on top and it was easy 10. The cumin fries were such a sleeper! I never would have ordered them but the other reviewers recommended them. Flavor profile was salty + sweet and a little smoky. They were hot and crisp. I couldn't stop eating them.

I knew that this place would be good from the menu and the pictures that I had seen but I have to be honest, I did not expect it to be this good! Got the chicken dumplings with a few of the sauces (garlic, sweet soy and an aioli) and lemme tell ya.. hit the spot. The dumplings were light, the chicken was well seasoned and had tons of flavor, the dumplings were super easy to eat and all in all just delicious. We also got the shredded pork bowl and O M G. The pork was tender, shredded, full of flavor, moist, and so delicious. The rice and the pickled veggies were also super lovely. For what we got, I think the prices were good, for 8 dumplings and the bowl it was $33 bucks which isn't bad at all. Nice sit down area, clean, right on Hennepin.. all in all, WILL BE BACK!

Great spot for a lunch bite! I really enjoyed all the things nearby to walk to like Moth Oddities and Olio were nearby to checkout! I loved all the pink decor, and the open windows. We were greeted right away, and I felt welcomed in. Would definitely stop back to try more flavors/the burritos as well!

Good place if you're wanting a quick bite with trendy atmosphere. But for me everything was just good but didn't pack enough flavor I was looking for. This seemed to cater more to the Western palette. Just a little dumpling to think about if you're wanting authentic.

You walk up and order on the iPad, get a number and they will take it to your table. Quick service, fresh delicious food and the vibe here is so cute! Check them out if you find yourself in NE Mpls and want a quick bite!

Delicious, unique food and a really fun vibe. A great fast casual spot that still delivers a high quality meal. I love that they have frozen dumplings you can get to-go as well. Debating starting a petition to have them bring back the chicken Cesar sandwich though; it's soo good.

I don't know if it because I did not get the dumplings which they are known for but honestly I think this place is a bit overhyped and overpriced. I just feel like my burrito lacked flavor and meat, the egg rolls were nothing special and the fries were mediocre. No hard feelings to this place but definitely somewhere that I would try once and move on. Also it is not pictured but their Ceasar sandwich tasted mainly of bread and sesame seeds. I really wanted to like this place but it fell soo short, who knows maybe I need to get their overpriced dumplings instead. Positive side: incredible service, even if it was busy they were super fast to get your order and was very colorful inside.

We stopped by yesterday because we saw on social media they were bringing back breakfast burritos for New Year's Day (one day only). When we arrived, we were lucky to find a metered parking spot directly in front of the store. Meters weren't enforced yesterday because of the holiday! The area has a lot of businesses nearby, so sometimes it can get busy and may require some circling around to find parking, but I've never had to be more than a couple blocks away! We arrived just a little after 11 am. It wasn't very busy at the time. The staff greeted us right away when we entered. There are a couple vegetarian and vegan options on the menu as well as a gluten-free chicken bowl. We preordered 2 egg and cheese burritos, which were ready by the time we arrived! We also decided to order veggie dumplings at the kiosk. There are numbers sitting next to the kiosk which you enter with your order and bring to your table. You seat yourself. The dine-in orders are brought directly to the tables. There is a station near the pickup area where you can get your own napkins, utensils, water cups, or Zab's hot sauce (which is a slightly sweet hot sauce). There is also hand sanitizer available. The decor was cute, it was very pink and there are large windows for anyone who wants to look outside as they're dining! It is a casual place and would be good for meeting up with friends! For the food: I really enjoyed the breakfast burrito! I would rate that 4.5/5. It is flavorful and delicious, and unlike any other breakfast burrito in the twin cities metro. It uses Chinese giardiniera (which had a milder pickled flavor), scallion pancake tortilla, a generous amount of sauce and cheese, and egg! The only drawback is that the components were distributed very evenly, with half the burrito being much cheesier than the other half. With that being said, I still really enjoyed it! I wish they would bring the breakfast burritos back permanently, but would highly recommend watching Saturday Dumpling Co.'s social media for when they do occasionally come back! The veggie dumplings weren't my favorite. They contained cabbage, carrots, tofu, mushrooms, and scallions. They had a firmer texture as far as veggie dumplings go, which all sounds good in theory. However I found them to be a little bland. We ordered them with the chili oil, but found it didn't have much spice. I would not get the veggie dumplings again. They did come with some veggies on the side (cabbage slaw, celery, and some cucumbers which were very mildly pickled). I felt like the veggie sides were more flavorful than the dumplings themselves. I have heard good things about the dumplings here, so maybe their meat dumplings are better than their veggie ones? Overall impression: some items are better than others. I would come back for the breakfast burrito, but not for the veggie dumplings.

In…read morere-reading my reviews, I stand by everything I've said about the excellent consistent quality of the food, the service, and how much I enjoy coming to this restaurant. I truly hope they are around longer than I am. I would hate to find out this was one of the choices no longer available to us. Please read my previous reviews for a more inclusive view; this review focuses only on their lobster. I had previously mentioned that they prices of their lobsters (I love the version with black bean sauce) have gone up tremendously. While true, there seems to have been a subtle change in their pricing strategy. Previously (as of before the pandemic), the lobster was priced by the pound, which is the conventional way of doing it. However, they seem to have two lobster prices. The first one is called "Big Lobster" and they say it's between 2 and 2 and half pounds per lobster. The price of that (as of this review) is $56 dollars, or $28 per pound. That's not really a bad price at all. It's expensive, but reasonable. The other lobster is called "Live Lobster" and is priced $10 less at $46. So the real question is how much does this second version weigh? I ordered the Big Lobster, but they said they were out of it. I asked the weight of the "Live Lobster" but I didn't really get a straight answer, but he seemed to say "about two pounds" which doesn't really make sense because that's the price of the larger, more expensive lobster. But I decided to go for it anyway. As I stated in my last review, I'm guessing this lobster is at least two pounds, based on many years of eating lobster. For this review, I had ChatGPT translate the the Chinese on the menu, thinking it was secret code for "if you can read Chinese, save ten dollars by ordering this version" but AI says the Chinese means "lobster" so if you spoke Chinese, you'd still be mystified. So my recommendation is order the version that is ten dollars cheaper and you may (or may not) be paying $23 a pound. Price aside, I love this version of lobster and it is certainly a better deal than what you would pay at an American style seafood or steak restaurant in the Twin Cities.

I ordered the Stir Fry Spicy Beef, Mapo Tofu, and the Pork Belly. Everything was tasty and have no complaints as far as the actual flavors. I do think that the Mapo Tofu should always be soft tofu rather than firm, but that's just a personal preference. The beef was plentiful and extra tender and the pork belly was perfectly melt-in-your-mouth, so good that I felt like I had to ration it throughout the next few meals. I do wish it came with more rice. I ordered three sides and only got one box of rice. I was hoping to have at least two so I can eat it for several days. However, to end on a positive note, when I walked in to pick up my order, the woman (owner possibly) was incredibly friendly and spoke Mandarin to me. I enjoyed everything I have had here so far and definitely appreciated the authentic aspect of the food they have. The only improvement I could suggest was the taste of a lot of their dishes, as flavors tended to be on the mild side. It doesn't mean their food is any less authentic, though, and I would recommend all that are looking for authentic Chinese food to visit here. Individually, I ordered dishes that I would normally order in Chinese restaurants, so while I am not sure if there's anything I can necessarily recommend yet, I will say that I thought every dish I have had were above average in comparison to the same dishes I have had elsewhere. My favorite so far is the fried pork in scoop (锅包肉) and I don't even regularly eat pork. There was a nice layer of sweetness and sourness witht the sauce outside the pork pieces. The vegetable dishes like eggplant in garlic sauce (鱼香茄子), green beans with garlic (干煸四季豆), and Chinese cabbage (手撕包菜) are all tasty enough. The Chinese cabbage contained a lot of vinegar, and I bet some people would enjoy that. I didn't taste enough cumin in the cumin lamb (孜然羊肉) dish, but there was an abundant amount of lamb and I appreciated it. The spicy pepper chicken (辣子鸡) was very delicious and had the right amount of spice in my opinion. There is a Relaxing Healthy Center that's connected to the restaurant and apparently that establishment has been very popular, especially in the evenings. I have not visited there yet but I heard that it was similar to saunas in China, and I would love to visit there soon. Regardless, this is a hidden gem, hole in the wall, type of spot and I would definitely recommend everyone.
