This is one of my very favorite restaurants in the Inland Empire. I come here. Every chance I get the food is delicious. Always enjoy the filet mignon and be sure to order fried rice. All the chefs in the Teppanyaki are good, but Arturo is my favorite ask for him when possible the hostess and servers are always friendly and professional. With the soup or salad for lunch and the fried vegetables plus your entrée in the fried rice you'll have enough for tomorrow's lunch as well always big portions. How has this place been here 20 years and I haven't been able to try the Teppan until this weekend! Hear me out it's your favorite Teppan food but at a much cost friendly and huge quality restaurant. The garlic butter is the secret here and the food was delicious including the drinks! It's hidden and a bit dark in the Walmart parking lot. Let's get the city to add more lights to share visibility. I went to celebrate my friend birthday and I recommended this place but the service was horrible . The waitress mistakenly took a wrong order and instead of finding what happened , she started insulting and acting rude in front of my inviters adducing that it was our fault who placed the wrong order . I understand that people could make mistakes and I was ready to pay including for the additional roll , she acted rude with me and my friends. I was totally embarrassed with the circumstances . Besides that, the business hours are until 9pm but they closed the door at 8:20 pm . Ambiance: The ambiance is nice with a beautiful decor. The restaurant features a hibachi grill side (think Bennihana), a restaurant side where your food is not cooked in front of you, a sushi bar and a cocktail bar. So you have lots of choices for your ambience. Food: I ate at the hibachi grill where my filet Mignon and shrimp were cooked to order. I started with shrimp tempura and a cocktail. Next was miso soup and a simple salad. My steak and shrimp were cooked to perfection. My sister had the calamari and wow it was really good. I found the ginger sauce to be okay. Not as good as Benihana's but the star of the show was a spicy butter sauce made with butter, garlic, lemon and chili sauce. It was everything and Benihana's do t have that. New Favorite Sushi Spot! The first time we came in was around 9:10 PM. Even though they stop seating at 9:15 PM, the staff didn't rush us or make us feel like an inconvenience--which is rare so close to closing. Instead, they were incredibly kind and welcoming. We started with the miso soup, then ordered the Ensenada sushi and the salmon and tuna tostadas--absolutely delicious. So much so, we came back the very next day for happy hour! This time, we tried a variety of rolls, and every single one was packed with flavor. The chili oil? Chef's kiss. This spot has already become one of our favorites, and we're excited to see who we'll bring with us next time. My husband also commented on the decor--he appreciated how the space was thoughtfully sectioned off. The rock wall reminded me of the Xcaret Hotel during our honeymoon. I have been to this restaurant several times. I walked in today and the women in the front named "Veronique" tells me the next reservation isn't until 8:30 it is 6:30. She says booths are available and I tell her I have a group of 4 let me ask. Everyone agreed to the booth. I walk up and say the booth is fine. She proceeds to tell me the food doesn't taste the same. I ask it isn't the same ingredients the same quality of meats? I then tell her I have had lunch here many times with my co workers. She said "you think it tasted good" I reply yes, my sister and her begin to dialogue and she says the black top taste is different than wok. At this point I feel like she doesn't want to serve us. Unfortunately, after the last several years of attending I no longer plan to revisit Sayakas Japanese Restaurant. Things had bothered me overtime but I'm truly at the point now of no longer returning. Something like forgetting cash to tip the hibachi chef ONCE and being given an $8.00 add on to the check on top of the automatic 15% gratuity (usually costing me $20, which is what I tip the chef in cash). Keep in mind, the chef makes all the food in-front of you and the only thing I am receiving from the kitchen is a glass of water. Absolutely ridiculous for the tip to be 15% at the GRILL to begin with. What really turned me away for good today was the fact that, having confirmed to the server that my boyfriend would be sang happy birthday to, we got let off quietly. We visit at least once a month, spending over $150 on steak and lobster every time no issue. Yet the one time it's celebratory, and I make it known I would really appreciate him to be sang to, nothing. Matter of fact, as we were leaving they sang to a table across the room. People come here ALL the time for birthdays, I'm sure there's no issue then. Maybe it's not that big of a deal, but to try and celebrate something for once at the place we casually go to, I was HEAVILY let down. I mean really? Disappointed ! I have visited this restaurant in the past and was looking forward to my dinner. It didn't work out. Our chef was not practicing proper food preparation. He cross contaminated half of our meal. He never once wiped down or cleaned the cooking utensils or knife he was using. It all went from bad to worse when he used his spatula to put the raw chicken on the grill then immediately use it to mix the vegetables and serve them on everyone's plate! Very similar to a place I go to in the Los Angeles area where I am from. I had the Halibut and Chicken, I drizzled the sauce over them both and it was amazing. The chef can make the sauce to your liking, spicy or mild. The soup.reminded me of a mild onion soup not a miso. The fried rice was the bomb, i had them put extra garlic butter as i am a garlic fanatic. On a Saturday afternoon, we celebrated a birthday at Sayaka Japanese Restaurant because it was close to where the birthday boy lived. I noticed it had 3.5 stars on Yelp, so I wasn't expecting much. I soon discovered the 3.5 rating did not support our experience by a long shot. First, the reception was excellent. The employee was so friendly and seated us almost immediately at our reservation time. The server was quick to take our orders and was also very friendly. While waiting for the Teppan chef to arrive and later while watching the food being prepared, the server and assistants were quick to refill our drinks. We never needed to ask for a refill. Regarding the chef, he was awesome; very fun and entertaining. In addition, he prepared custom sauces and made each one as spicy as we desired. This was our first time having a spice level option at a Teppan place. The shrimp, scallops, steak, chicken, and fried rice was excellent. Regarding the prices, they were very reasonable. I also noticed they had a really nice bar. It looked like a cool place to hangout. This was truly an unexpected 5 Star experience. I would consider making the drive to Colton again! read more
