JUST DONT GO THERE! Doesn't even deserve a star. Scratched all my head with a comb on purpose for the entire time. I could feel that it's on purpose. My skin was swollen and my neck was almost bleeding at the end. I even said "Ouch" while getting hurt by clipper and no apologies were given. The left side and the right side of my hair are totally different now. Which shows how unprofessional and irresponsible he is. Totally ignored what I said and discriminated. I just gave up at some point as my hair is not recoverable. I just didn't want him to touch my hair as soon as possible. I don't understand why this person works in a barber shop. This shop was recommended by my girlfriend, and is where her two teenage sons and her brother get their hair cut. The first time I went Ignacio cut my hair and did a great job. He is very deliberate and professional. The second time I went in, sat down and waited. Both Ignacio and one of the younger guys finished at the same time and Ignacio took one of the customers while the younger guy(tattoos on his arms and neck) seemed to take a break. There were still two of us waiting. Finally I had about decided I'd waited long enough and got up to walk out. The younger guy then said, "Sir, we'll be with you in a minute." I stepped out for a minute to check my phone and when I went back in another younger guy said he could take me. This is the same young guy who had walked in a few minutes earlier with a 12 pack of beer, of which the other younger guy took a bottle and placed it at his station. I then got in the chair and the young guy proceeded to cut my hair. And he did a good job. However... The conversation and language between the two younger guys(Ignacio minded his own business and just cut hair) was out of control, in my opinion. They talked of bar room brawls and made sexually provocative and even racist comments. Many F-bombs were dropped. It was very unprofessional and, for me, a little shocking. Clearly, these two barbers are used to unfiltered conversation and they don't much care who is in their store listening. They had three of their young friends hanging out with them and for them it was fine. They even joined in the conversation. To be fair, I think everyone in this shop does a good job of cutting hair. But be prepared for an R-rated, possibly even X-rated experience. I for one will not be going back. Even if they do call me "Sir". read more

Having been loyal to my local barber for years, it's always hard switching up your barber. I explained to Manny what I wanted and he delivered. The complimentary whiskey was for sure a bonus. **For August 2016** My loyalty runs deep; you'd never have to question it. I feel guilty over minuscule betrayals such as going to a different co-op other than the ones I frequent where I see familiar places and faces. It's not the most reasonable way to think, but that same sense of obligation applies to hair. I cheated on our home barber. Twice. With the Scallywag Barbers. I brought my boys over to them while we were out of town on two different occasions. The horrible thing is that I like them, and will bring them back whenever we are in town. I had a rather pleasant experience at our first visit last year when my cousin-in-law, an OC native brought us over. The guys seemed familiar with him, and perhaps that is the reason why we were treated well that day. However, the second time around, sans cuzzo- we must have caught them on a "not-so-great day." Perhaps because it was a Saturday and they either had a busy morning or were bracing themselves for the afternoon which happened to become pretty busy after we had arrived. I called early that morning to make an appointment for my boys, and I was told that they had availability at noon for two people. We had three and the gentleman on the phone said they can't make any promises to accommodate my third person. it seemed as if they were trying to discourage me from evening coming in at all. But sorry/not sorry- I was determined to make it happen! We had ish to do while in town, and I need my boys looking sharp for tomorrow's festivities. I booked the appointment, and we showed up a half hour early. We walk in- no greeting, no "we'll be right with you"... well, oh kay then... we will just take a seat and hope for the best. But it didn't wait long before one of the guys finally acknowledged our existence. Depending on the day and hour you come, there will be a wait time, with or without an appointment. But as soon as your bottom hits that chair, they get right to work and your in and out in no time. Clean ass lines on the heads of my children. They were lookin' pretty dapper at the party we attended the next day, and on their first day of school! Lastly, I'm not one of those moms that try to prepare the world for my children, but instead, I try to prepare them for the world. My kids hear bad things everywhere they go, but they know better than to repeat what they hear, especially around their dad and me. But if you're one of those parents that are easily offended when someone swears in front of kids- it tends to slip out quite a bit in this place. Be warned, but you also can not control customers that come in and do it. Can't hold that against the people that work here. Other than that, these guys do a stellar job. I'm an outsider from out of town and may not know how it works around here, but I will still give them credit where it's due. We will keep coming back every chance we get!. The hair products are the bomb, smell freakin' good, and are inexpensive. Gotta double up on that Sauvecito next time! read more

This USED TO BE my go-to barber. Ever since they got ranked #2 barber in OC their quality and professionalism has gone down the toilet. They used to give solid, clean haircuts and have a manly barbershop vibe. The last two times I've gone in, all they do is talk about their latest excuse for why they didn't get ranked #1. The time before last, my barber was complaining about how hungover he was and literally had to leave in the middle of my haircut to get a gatorade. No surprise, he messed up my haircut, leaving a few long patches. The last time I went, the barber insisted that they "don't half-ass" their haircuts. Then he proceeded to mess up the layering on one side of my head and create an uneven part. They're drinking every time I go in there and on top of all that, they raised their prices. Let me tell you.... I have been coming to Scallywag Barbers when it was once known as another barbershop. Is it fair to even think it is the same place? What a difference! I won't bore anyone with the issues of the previous shop but it was bad. It got to the point where I traveled out to Santa Ana from Placentia just to get a haircut. I went to to El Catrin for a while but the distance and huge lines and wait was just not worth it after some time (don't get me wrong, they are great!). I was happy to see that Scallywag Barbers replaced the old shop and that management was doing an overhaul on the vibe and overall service provided. Clint has been around since the old days and is now the owner and has done a fantastic job of transforming the old shop to a real professional barber shop that I am happy to come to now! It is a fun atmosphere! It is easy to catch up on a cool/funny conversation with some rad music on the speakers. The staff is fantastic! Amber is my go to barber but I feel confident that anyone here could hook me up if I was in a jam. Amber is great! She considers my opinions on a haircut (I have changed it up from time to time) and offers her professional input and magic ensues! I am also happy that they offer debit/credit card payments (this is 2016 people! who carries cash these days??). I always get compliments after stopping by to get my ears lowered. Give 'em a try, you will not be disappointed! For the peeps complaining about the jargon around here? It's a barber shop. Period. If manly, comedic, or mindless banter upsets your liberal-PC meter.... I suggest you do a sack check or check into salon with the other limp-wristed ninnies.
