CONCLUSION- NEVER BUY A PAVEL COUCH OR CHAIR - it's NOT LEATHER AND SEVICE COULD CARE LESS. In Santa Rosa store, beware of DAVE. BEWARE of PAVEL couch and chair. Leather is a micro meter thin and with very moderate use the 'leather' skin wore off on a section. I called the store just looking for a recommendation of a patch that would work in the same color range. Was told they would ask the warehouse about it and after multiple calls I got nowhere. If you are looking for furniture, Scandinavian Designs has an awesome showroom in Concord. We were looking for a new couch, dining room table/chairs including a special leather chair. Their showroom had plenty to choose from and we are very pleased with our selections. The quality, workmanship, and pricing worked perfectly for us. We found the sales team to be very friendly and professional. No pressure at all but if we had any questions regarding the quality, manufacturers etc. the sales team was quick to respond. Our neighbor recommended we work with Fionne Nguyen. We were not disappointed and found her pleasant demeanor, industry knowledge, professional approach, creative recommendations, and follow-up to be extraordinary. Meg says to me the other day... "if you had one furniture store to shop who would you choose?" I thought about it a second and said "Scandinavian Designs" (SD). Funny thing, I don't purchase here often because if you shop around you can find a 10% discount vs SD. Is it worth it shopping around? Probably not with gas @ $4 plus its real time costly and a pain in arse. You'll have to drive to Berkeley SF and all around. Of course you can find more extreme pieces at KCC Modern Living or Roche-Bobois but these very cool pieces are roughly 3-5x as much. If your budget is more limiting Scandinavian Designs is a good alternative to Macy's (not to bad honestly), Levitz, and Costco (if they carry your piece you can't beat the price.) Poor customer service. Purchased a sofa 10/25 with ETA end of November. No call at all to follow up. We made a phone call on December 6th. A lady on the phone told that we are suppose to call. Decent furniture store although the prices and some of the designs are not in my wheelhouse. Came here with the boyfriend to check it out, I think he came to get some ideas since he's into design, the aesthetics, the whole shebang. They do utilize the space fairly well but it did have an emptiness to it all the same. I think they were actually remodeling the store because some of the flooring was ripped up and somewhat sparse on the inventory. During our visit, my boyfriend did find some marked-down gifts that seemed quite affordable so he snatched them up. If you look hard enough they have a clearance table so if you're looking for some decor odds and ends then head to the back near the registers. I could see myself coming back out of sheer curiosity whether they finished the remodel and if that changes the vibe. read more

I looked at a lot of online and physical shops, then found exactly what I wanted, at a reasonable price, online at Scandinavian Designs. I called the store to see if they had it available there, so I could see it in person. Went in, sales staff was friendly and very helpful, and it was a quick and easy transaction. My furniture was delivered quickly, and they went above and beyond to get it in my place due to a very steep driveway. I noticed an imperfection in one of the pieces (jagged edge with rough splintery wood) the next day, called the store and they exchanged it for me with a new one, no hassles, very quickly. This place is right off the freeway so you can't miss it. They have their own parking lot. It's pretty big inside and they have a lot of furniture to choose from. It's a two story building so everything is separate. The design of the furniture is really nice. I prefer comfort or look and I felt it was a little more for looks. The only credit I will give is simply for the idea that I like the way their furniture looks. Otherwise, this place seriously needs to revamp their hiring strategy because quite "frankly" (yes, pun will be intended), the people who work here especially a shit-head named Frank don't know shit-diddly about basic customer service skills and what it means to have recurring clientele. Here's the scenario: my wedding anniversary is swiftly approaching and I knew I wanted to surprise my husband with his own personal home office. Because I wanted a new sleek and modern design, I chose (emphasis on "chose") to make Scandinavian Design my primary resource for accomplishing the look I was aiming to achieve. I went online, looked at their catalog, found what I liked, called to place the order and then made my payment in full. Simple, right? Wrong! Everything went absolutely horrific here on out. I received a call stating the delivery time was going to be delayed so I adapted and requested that I pick everything up myself - this not only would alleviate their workload and get other customers' shipments delivered on time but on a more selfish note, it would ensure I had my product in-hand when I needed it. Upon building everything, I noticed most of the screws that came with my packages were actually not the ones I needed which forced me to go to my nearest Home Depot to buy the right kind. Once I started assembling the pieces together, I noticed a key component was missing from my inventory. I called this specific location and spoke to Frank. He was rude, unprofessional, and nonchalantly passed me through several different departments only to get rerouted back to him. After tolerating all this frustration, he said he would talk to someone and then would update me with a call back. Nearly two hours passed and I called him back only for him to hang up on me almost immediately - a person still with an unanswered question: where is the part I still need in order to surprise my husband... on time... for our anniversary. At this point, I felt extremely undervalued as a very loyal client especially considering the amount of work I had to make in order to accommodate their lack of efficiency. But what really set me off was how I had to call back and get connected with the ever-so-idiotic Frank who had the audacity to blame me for the missing part and lack of communication! I requested to speak with his manager and his only response has been "she's busy but I'll let her know to call you." With that being said, unless something dramatic happens, I highly doubt I will ever bring any more of my money to what now appears to me as an overpriced mediocre gallery that literally pays their employees to behave in this manner. We were able to customize our base and leather colors. The transaction was easy. They gave us a call within 3 months, scheduled a delivery and delivered the product on time. Happy with the order. Good furnitures but horrible service! They should really work on improving the latter! First time we visited to browse for furnitures no one even bothered to greet or assist us. Second time we went to actually purchase something, same thing happened--NO GREETING! NO ASSISTANCE! There were more than 5 employees present in the building but not even one bothered to look! My husband and I decided it was time for us to upgrade our IKEA bedroom furniture and we found a set we loved on the Scandinavian Designs website. We had never shopped at Scandinavian Designs before and I was honestly a little scared to shop there after reading some of the reviews on here, but decided to give it a chance... and I'm so glad we did! I could not have been happier with our experience! We visited the store on a Friday evening. Gary greeted us when we came in and helped us find the bedroom set we had seen online. He was super friendly and helpful, and not at all pushy. We spent some time looking around the store before we decided we definitely wanted the set we had come in for. (And everyone we encountered while we were browsing was really nice and helpful.) Gary helped us check out and made sure we had our discount for signing up for the store email list. (I always appreciate a discount!) He asked if we would like the furniture delivered and assembled and I told him I wasn't sure... I told him that the yelp reviews on the delivery service scared me. He said they had a couple different delivery guys and assured me that if I had Brian delivered my furniture, I would be very happy and probably even want to invite him to stay for dinner. And he was right. Brian was so kind and extremely professional. He called me the day after I purchased my furniture to schedule the delivery. He gave me a nice 2 hour window and ended up coming a couple minutes early. He brought all the furniture to my front porch, and then put a blanket on my wood floors to protect it and took off his shoes to bring everything in. I ended up not having him assemble the bed because we hadn't managed to move our old bed in time. The furniture was in an enclosed box truck, so I wasn't really worried about anything being damaged, but he was very courteous and patient while I inspected everything. I highly recommend Brian to anyone who needs their furniture delivered and assembled! He was wonderful!!! We love our new bedroom set. It's beautiful and very well made. I've purchased furniture here over the years and it's been a good experience every time. I like their selection and their prices, while not cheap, represents good and long lasting furniture. I had an incident where the glass shattered on my dining table unexpectedly. I went to the store two days later and they were able to do an exchange for me for a new table even though the warranty has run out. I can't thank them enough and it has saved me loads of money. Looking at the reviews below, I guess my bad customer service experience is a norm here. My wife and I came in truly ready to make a purchase, we've seen a few sectionals online that we loved and wanted to come in to ask a few questions on the material but 30 minutes in, and NOT EVEN ONE ASSOCIATE even greeted us! I even went up to an associate trying to give them the benefit of the doubt to ask a question and she didn't even make eye contact with me and simply said "Yes." Looking around I saw all 6 other associates on their computers browsing random websites and talking to each other about weekend plans. REALLY? I walked right by you all and you just kept on talking? INCREDIBLE! Being a Sales Director at a software company, this would NOT fly for my team, what a shame, because I liked the furniture there, but as a consumer, I will not tolerate rude service or should I say in this case, NO SERVICE AT ALL? We have been buying a lot of stuff from this place. But they are so desperate to sell their stuff that they lie to make a purchase. They sold me a rug telling it's new but after getting it home and after a while when I cut its tag, I found the tag saying 'Store Floor Model'. We don't buy anything used for our house. Don't allow anyone to bring their shoes in. And these liars sold me a rug, God knows, how many people walked with their pets and dirty shoes on it. Shameful act for a business of such reputation. I have been their customer since last 8-10 yrs. I even referred our friends who bought a $4M house in our neighborhood and bought pretty much everything from this store after our recommendation. Not gonna go there again and not gonna refer them. Not anymore. Other neighbors enquired abt some stiff but we shared our experience with them. I was recently divorced and moving to my new house which needed to be totally furnished. My sons and I went to Scandinavian design and were able to find all our needs in I one place. Jeff, our sales person was amazingly patient and helpful to us and arranged for delivery to meet my move schedule. When we had moved in and learned what additional pieces we needed, we again went and Jeff helped out again. When the end tables were delivered there was a defect. Great experience. Immediately, upon entering the store, you can tell that all of the furniture is well designed and well constructed. We were looking for a media console in a very specific size, and they had several very nice pieces that would work. Our salesperson, Jeff Ishizu was terrific. Very knowledgeable and did not pressure us at all. Not only did we find the media console that was perfect, we also found a desk to match. We left without buying, telling Jeff we needed to consider it for a day or two. Called back a couple of days later, and bought both pieces over the phone. Scheduled a delivery three days later, and the truck showed up at 8:00 am. Perfect. The furniture looks great, is of great quality. We are very happy with our experience. read more

The dining room table was back ordered for 6 months because it was hand crafted in Thailand and was worth the wait. Exquisite! Good quality furniture is worth ever penny. I have found their products to wear well; 2 swivel chairs I bought a number of years ago were spun constantly like whirling dervishes when my grandkids were visiting and they remain looking in great condition. read more

After receiving a recall letter about a lamp we had purchased we went to the store in Concord and the manager there said "we're doing you a favor" and said we'd have to wait 3 weeks for a refund. Extremely rude and unhelpful. We actually went there to buy a desk and to spend 4 times what the lamp cost us. His behavior completely turned us from being fans of Scandinavian design and bragging about your product to never shopping there ever again. And we loved the damn lamp! This place does not even deserve the mandatory one star!! My husband and I came in looking for a sectional, a recliner and other furniture pieces/accessories. No one greeted us nor offered us help despite the fact that there were 4-5 bodies standing behind the counter doing absolutely nothing. Each one gave us the look.. You know, that look that says; "we are too good for you and that you probably cant afford us". It seemed that they were racist, snooty and prejudice. It's sickening to me how people are so quick to pass judgement and make the wrong assumption not knowing what we can and can not afford. Mind you we had a 8-10k budget. After being treated such way, we walked out and once again no one bothered to speak to us. What a shame!! I have been in the market for furniture and the works for my new place since December. Came in a month prior per someones recommendation and them taking me in, as well as viewing products online and finding motivation to go in... The first time I arrived, I was more or less checking it out and if knocked off my feet, ready to buy on the spot. Only a few things did that but still needed to convince myself by looking at a few more places... The second time I visited, today, I was with my parents who are visiting for a few days and wanted to contribute to my new living situation with a dinning table and chairs and possibly other things. We were greeted in a casual and welcoming salesperson Gary. No pressure, just let us parooze. I liked that. As we scanned and eyes widened when we found a great fit... my daddio wanted to ask Gary pricing and details. Gary gave us first and foremost delivery pricing, and mentioned that there were two tables coming in of that style that were "pretty much" accounted for, but for a small deposit, we would secure one of them... and would be delivered for $68.00 in the middle of June. Gary showed no concern, kindness, or what I like to call customer service skills, to give us any kind of experience or justification for what would be a few weeks wait, and MAYBE a reasonable delivery charge, but instead acted cold and obviously could NOT care less if we bought anything. In my experience in SALES, a customer is more confident when they can trust or connect with a sales person.. since they are going to buy something anyway, be it at pottery barn, target, or Scandinavian design. It may be my fault to assume I would receive a positive experience from Gary, but what he did not show, made the furniture I have been thinking about and could picture in my own home seem cheap and not worth it.... Instead I went to a family owned business is Concord and supported a person who was happy for me, and to do some business. Gary... there is room for improvement in all of us, and I most certainly include myself with that. Scandinavian Designs in Concord is the best in the East Bay! It's one of the largest furniture stores I've ever been in, it's decorated well, and has a wide selection (you can find a bookcase for under $100 or buy a custom leather sofa for $6000+) Just tell the salesperson you work with what your budget is and they will work with you to make sure you get exactly what you want and don't break your piggy bank! I've been helped by a few people. If you need office furniture, go see Jimmy Z and if you need a real professional designer's eye, ask for Lori C. Also, don't show up ready to take away your furniture the same day. The showroom is so big, it would be impossible for them to store everything in their warehouse. Their eta is usually 7-10 days, which isn't bad. But - if you order a custom Italian leather sofa, be realistic and expect to wait a few months! Happy Furniture Shopping!! read more
