Waited 10 min for cashier to come from back. Ordered $30 of food. 2 meals. Neither was prepared as we ordered. No receipt tape to see who messed up the order which went into their trash can. While waiting for our order another customer came in. She did not even recognize. His presence didn't speak to him. Didn't ask to take an order. He walked over and said is anyone working and she pointed at her shirt and she said I am what's the problem and he says we usually customer service somebody says hello can I take your order. I must say... I devoured my Original before I could show off its majesty. I ordered the Original, avocado Cobb salad and Mac and cheese... it was delivered in a timely manner ... well, minus my Mac and cheese. I called, got a lovely manager (no sarcasm) she said to come by anytime and get a fresh order. I was so enthralled by my sandwich it was decided I'd come by later. This thing was nostalgia on sourdough... I haven't been to a Schlotzsky's in over 20 years... and it is just as amazing as it was in Texas. Amazing. The staff was also quite awesome and friendly. Went in with my son at 10:50am... after telling him how great Schlotzky's is - since it was his first time at one because we don't have them near where we live. Order placed at 10:54am. Originally placed them "For Here" and then had to switch to "To Go" since it was taking so long. Two sandwiches finally received at 11:18. We did not even receive an APOLOGY for the time it took to give us our sandwiches. Made a comment on how they had two large To Go orders come in and they had to complete those. Grabbed bag and got on the road... as we unwrapped our sandwiches... they gave us the entirely wrong order. Great job making serious sandwiches for adults. These sandwiches are classy, and they're not cheap! But worth every penny because they're made with attention to detail. Kids meals, on the other hand, are actually very affordable--3 bucks for everything. So that offsets the premium sandwich expense, if you are feeding kids too. Overall great experience. The Schlotzsky's diet starts around 30 minutes before closing time, and keep in mind, Jimmy John's down the road will make you a sandwich at 9:59 even though they close at 10:00. I'm 2/2 on having horrible experiences at this Schlotzsky's location anywhere remotely near closing time. The first time was drive through at 9:54 (they close at 10) and there was a long pause, and she finally came on and told me it was 10:00 and they were already closed. I said "that's okay if you want to close early, but it's not 10:00." She argued with me and said "yes it was 10:00," and so I actually pulled around and showed her my phone. We talked about it and she finally admitted the register was about 5 minutes fast (but supposedly they open 5 minutes early?!) and she also lied because she said it wouldn't let her take orders after 10:00 on the register, but if there had been people ahead of me in the drive through line it would have let her take my order. This doesn't make much sense to me - things like this usually reset after each order, so the register either accepts late orders or it doesn't. She said I could call ahead next time if I was cutting it close, and that would work fine. Fast forward...a few months later I did exactly that. I called at 9:44pm (plenty of time, right?) and a different girl said "we...uh, aren't taking phone orders right now it's too late for that..." So, I showed up in person a couple of minutes later (I was already on my way, I was trying to do them a favor). They looked surprised, and to his credit there was a guy that was actually going to take my order. I said I tried to help them out by calling it in, but someone wouldn't take it. He said, oh that's probably because they already closed the lines down (I guess he didn't know about my call). So, I said I wouldn't order and mess that up for them (and he thanked me), but what time do they actually start closing so I'd know for the future? The girl that was on the phone with me came out and said "right now" and the guy admitted it was actually earlier about 9:35, and that's what they do every night. (I'll bet it's even earlier than that - because even if accurate that could be 9:30 real time since store time is 5 fast). She told me they haven't had a customer since 7:30 as justification - basically I needed to understand this. (Is the company or franchisee good with this? Can we please change the sticker on the door to 9:30? Not that it would matter because it would then close at 9:00.) Okay, so when I pressed (calm, but firmly) with a question or two about the times she whispered "oh my god" to her friend about me. I wasn't rude or irate, just firm by asking when I can or can't actually order a sandwich (how late is too late? I really want to enjoy the only Schlotzsky's around and I need to know the rules!) I guess when you don't go by rules, you kind of make them up as you go; they were all in such a hurry to get out of there, most of the employees had moved their cars to right outside the door in the nearest customer parking spots, it actually looked like there were quite a few patrons still eating, but nope. Trying to diffuse the situation but get more information, I said "Look, it's okay, I've just been lied too before about the register's clock being fast, etc. and he, probably wanting me to leave, finally got defensive and shot back but it is! It's 9:52 by the register but it's only 9:48 on my phone. It's not our fault, sir!" So, I asked, "but what about closing 20 minutes or more early?" (Meaning, is that anyone here's fault?) And they all looked at me like I was the crazy one...so I finally walked out at exactly 9:48. Still plenty of time to make it to Jimmy John's (but I didn't, because I didn't want to do that to them by the time I could get there since they actually care about people). By the way, I think the Schlotzsky's employees had to hold back a laugh when I said, "Well I guess I'll go to Jimmy Johns then..." By the looks on their faces I'm guessing it would have been impossible for them to have cared less. I don't know what I was thinking. This attitude may come from management. I found an excellent review on Google Maps by "John Luna," a former employee. Disgruntled, but I wouldn't be quick to dismiss his words. There are some "weird vibes" at this location and this would help to explain a lot of it. It is an absolute must read before taking a chance on eating here. Wow. Just, wow. read more

I was so excited when one of these opened in Hot Springs. I've been many times, and have yet to be disappointed. the food is fresh fast and very delicious. as for those mentioning the long lines, yes it's new, and it's popular. There are going to be lines. How did we take such a wonderful sandwich shop and make it barely average? On two separate instances, employees were outside visiting with friends in the parking lot or vaping and still had their latex gloves on. The question is did they change their gloves when they went back to work and before making my sandwich? Does management ration gloves so employees don't take them off when they go on break? In addition, they want you to put your credit card in a reader and press buttons to leave a tip (which I have nothing against), but didn't we just go through a pandemic? I'm not touching a keypad just before touching my sandwich. Does the restaurant not pay its employees enough that they have to beg for tips and inconvenience us with the manual card reader? Management is out of touch with its customers and I'm sorry we have a Schlotzsky's here because they don't know how to do it right; ruined the experience either intentionally or out of ignorance. read more

Ehhhh. The sandwiches are pretty boring for the combo price. I'd much rather have jimmy johns or firehouse. They need more sauces and pickled peppers for me to ever consider coming back. I would give today's visit no stars if that was an option. I ordered a southwestern chicken salad. It had to go in my wastebasket after I ate the approx 2 ounces of chicken on it. It was a mound of leafy vegetables, poorly trimmed. It had large areas that were inedible. There was less than 1/2 ounce of shredded cheese and a few bits of corn and black beans. We recently use Schlotzsky's for catering. It possibly could have been the most professional catering we have ever had here at the office. The bread is fresh, the vegetables are all fresh, and the food tasted amazing. The cookie tray was also a hit with everyone. I will be using Schlotzsky's catering in the future great job thank you. They told us it would take 10 minutes, and ended up take 43 (yes I kept very specific track). They were lost, confused, and rude. Then they forgot part of our order, and were rude when we told them.
